We were recommended this place by a local resident and it proved to be fully justified. Great food and most pleasant and attentive service. We had two children aged 5 and 7 in our party and the staff could not have been more helpful in meeting their eccentric requirements. My wife said her fish cakes were the best she had eaten, my chowder was excellent, and our grandson wolfed down his fish (fresh, flaky cod in a light batter) and chips. What’s not to like?

What looked a good seafront cafe was disappointing to us - 1) HOMEMADE FISHCAKES OK but a bit tasteless 2) CHICKEN CURRY AWFUL and when asked for half and half for rice and chips - my request refused 3) Turned out to be CASH ONLY - we found no notice of this and when offering Scottish money, this was questioned but eventually taken In our view - there needs to be a big improvement!

Fantastic local cafe by the harbour in Ballycastle. Very very friendly staff and extremely quick service.. Great menu for breakfast and lunch with loads of gluten free choices...best fry in NI...extra toast and coffee refill at no cost...very reasonable prices. I would give this cafe and it's lovely staff 10 stars if I could. Extremely hard working staff who communicate well and provide a brilliant service to locals and tourists. Top class.

I've been coming to the promenade for years and unfortunately the last two visits have been really disappointing. On the first visit I got a club Sandwich which was more like a chicken salad sandwich and was lacking on fillings. The service was also rushed with drinks practically being thrown onto the table. On the second trip, I ordered a fry and requested scrambled eggs instead of fried. I was told this was not possible and that I would have to order a portion of scrambled eggs and toast alongside my fry if I wanted this. Obviously I didn't want two meals for breakfast so I just asked for no egg on my fry. My fry came down with egg and no black or white pudding. It was sent back to the kitchen and came back with egg again. My friend ordered a burger which stated on the menu came with a choice of sauce. The sauce was not included but we were charged for it. The overall service from the waitresses is grand but the kitchen is disappointing. From my observations, it seems the lady who runs the kitchen is so concerned about ordering the waitresses around that she is not concentrating on her own job of the kitchen. From what I saw on the second trip, the waitresses had everything under control in the front of house. I hope this does resolve as I have always enjoyed a visit in the past.

We called in for lunch when visiting the town. I had an open prawn sandwich and my wife had soup. I had a very generous portion and it was very tasty. The wheaten bread it came on was excellent. My wife enjoyed the wheaten bread with her soup, which she also enjoyed, so much that she bought another slice to have with her cup of tea. There was a wide range of food options and everything was reasonably priced. The service was friendly. The owner came in just before we left and it was clear that she takes a considerable, and justified, pride in her cafe. Best chips in Workington. The service is quick, staff are always really friendly. This is a busy cafe because the food is fantastic. Lots of great food, great price - would highly recommend ☺️

My friend and I called in here whilst in Wigton and had a bacon buttie and a barista butties both of which were delicious and cooked perfectly. I had a latte which was lovely and my friendcsaid her cappuccino was one if the vest she'd had. The staff were so helpful and friendly and we will definitely return.

Sad to say that our trip there was a a big disappointment when it come to the food. We all had beef, it was dry and chewy. When we talked to the waiter, we have been told that is the way the chef does it. It is a shame that they only sell well done cuts of meat...

Fantastic hidden gem. We stayed over for a two night stay and we can’t wait to go back. Food is excellent, in fact the only thing I would say is next time I will go without a starter so I can try a dessert! Staff cannot do enough for you, warm, welcoming and nothing is too much. The atmosphere is pleasant and the way the dinning rooms are laid out is great it can be intimate or it can be more involved. Rooms are clean, spacious and the facilities are all there the baths are large and spacious as are the shower cubicles - if you want a place to stay I would HIGHLY recommend the Swinside inn

Bought a BLT and ham salad sandwich. The bacon in the BLT was hardly cooked, very fatty. Almost broke my tooth on something in the sandwich, must of been a stone in the salad. Very expensive for what you get. The brownie was good though. Would recommend going elsewhere
