Amazing experience! The service was outstanding. I had high expectations due to the price and location and I wasn’t disappointed at all. I believe our server’s name was Kelly. He was quite tall and slender. I have a dairy allergy and they took it very seriously. Anything I was served was brought out completely separately on different trays. I ordered the Ali Shan tea which was extremely flavorful and served at the perfect temperature. My wife’s Yunnan Peony tea was very good as well but mine had a more robust flavor that I prefer. The sandwiches were all pretty good as well. Smoked salmon and ham were my favorite. The cucumber sandwich was surprisingly good. I didn’t think I’d like a sandwich with cucumber as the star. The scones were my favorite by far. I could’ve eaten 10 of them if I wasn’t so full from the sandwiches. The service pacing was perfect. Our server was working more tables than the other servers and he was still extremely on top of everything. He asked us if we wanted extra sandwiches and refilled our tea right away when requested. Everything was finished at 1 hour 45 minutes giving us 15 minutes to relax and pay the bill. Atmosphere and decor were just beautiful. It was grand but not overdone. I really enjoyed the live piano. All the staff we interacted with inside were very pleasant as well. The outside doormen could be friendlier though. They were extremely cold. Maybe because we weren’t hotel guests. If you’re worried about dress code, they’re relatively lenient with it. There were people wearing t-shirts, sweatshirts, and polo shirts. No need to dress formal. I’m guessing just no shorts or sandals. We originally wanted to go to Claridge’s but they had a strict dress code requiring jackets for men. I’m very glad we chose the Dorchester in the end. It was posh without being stuffy.

went for afternoon tea. the food was solid but the service was disappointing at best. took ages to get our second pot of tea after we have finished the first one. trying to get the bill was an ordeal like pulling teeth for the price, I recommend you skip it. I also recommend management hire more wait staff. if you're going to charge 90+ pounds for some small sandwiches and desserts with tea, you really should be emphasizing the service

Celebrating our 35th anniversary with my wife. Experiencing The Promenade High Tea at The Dorchester was an amazing. The atmosphere and service was spectacular! The presentation was superb and tastes amazing! We started early in the afternoon around 4:30 Pm and enjoyed the good and conversations so much that we found our selves a bit late for our Phantom of the Opera at 7:30 Pm at His Majesty's Theater. Sebastian & Michelle did an awesome job helping us through this experience!

Visiting from Florida U.S.A! Amazing afternoon tea at the Promenade at the Dorchester. I knew it was going to be beyond lovely the minute we walked in the doors. The whole room is filled with class and elegance. The tea, sandwiches and pastries are all so tasty and prepared with such detail. Must mention the staff who served us is so classy and attentive! Tan and Anuar are so on-point, joyful and excellent at making guests feel wonderful and special! Both are very knowledgeable of the menu and their presentation was first class! Third time experiencing this memorable afternoon tea at the Dorchester Hotel. It never fails to impress with absolutely beautiful ambiance and top quality service from the staff. The sandwiches were really tasty and had a mixture of flavours. The scones are as always perfect with the creamy clotted cream and jam. The desserts were quite good. The selection of teas were very good as well. They have made a few changes to the decor and menu as well. The breathtaking atmosphere coupled with live piano performance in the background makes it a worthy occasion to be at. Can be a bit expensive in comparison to other hotels.

This is the second champagne afternoon tea I have enjoyed at the Dorchester. I cannot fault any aspect of my experience! I LOVED it! I’m so pleased to see that this establishment reliably upholds its very high standards for food, hygiene, decor, and particularly, service. The food was exceptional, and the staff were highly commendable at every interaction. I have also been to another famous afternoon tea experience in London, but on both occasions found the Dorchester to be superior. I hope to see the dress standard advertised upheld at my next visit. I noted many other diners entering with casual shoes and denim, and believe that dressing for the occasion is an important part of the whole experience. Very excited to return next time I visit London!

We had champagne afternoon tea at the Promenade in the Dorchester. You’re welcomed and served by warm and friendly staff who make you feel special in a very lovely location. The decor is luxurious with some interesting artworks and filled with flowers with a feminine pink colour palette. So what’s the food like? There is a large choice of leaf teas in all varieties and you can try as many as you like. There are little between courses dishes and sandwiches, scones/jam/cream and cakes all are excellent. My only suggestion is that the secondary flavours in the sandwiches could be stronger however you can have as many sandwiches as you like. And as this was a birthday tea there was birthday cake and a hand written card. A delightful way to spend an afternoon

Outstanding experience! We went for afternoon tea to celebrate my mum's birthday, and we have some specific dietary requirements. My mum is allergic to eggs, dairy, and gluten, and I am dairy intolerant. Our waiter, Anuar, handled everything effortlessly, making us feel truly welcome. The food was delicious, and we were amazed at how good their gluten-free, egg-free, and dairy-free options were. Anuar's tea recommendations were spot-on, and he went the extra mile by bringing a little cake for my mum's birthday, which also met all her dietary needs. We don't usually go out much, as we often feel unwelcome or like we're a burden due to our dietary restrictions. Visiting from Victoria, BC Canada in late April 2024, we had the absolute pleasure of afternoon tea at the Dorchester Hotel’s restaurant, The Promenade. We have enjoyed this lovely British ritual in a number of beautiful venues, and some more quaint, around the world but the Dorchester’s offerings, ambience and service top all the rest!! Right from the moment you enter the hotel, your senses are greeted with the spectacular displays of fresh florals and the classic and stunning traditional decor with sumptuous fabrics and every attention to detail possible. The original works of art by varied artists helps continue the exceptional visuals of multi-layered decor. The room is setup whereby each table enjoys their own somewhat private and stylish “corner” that are all equally as comfortable. Even tables in the centre of the room do not feel exposed. I’ve watched many YouTube videos of different London afternoon teas and most do not offer this luxury, including other 5⭐️ properties. They also do not have tables and chairs/sofas that are at a comfortable height and/or distance to truly enjoy tea without fussing with your skirt or endangering the pristine condition of it. The Dorchester’s Promenade offers both in spades. Now to the food and service. Wow 🤩 our waiter was outstanding in every aspect and each hotel and restaurant employee we encountered were welcoming and genuinely warm from the Host to the Clock Room Attendant and others we passed by during our time there. Our Waiter, Rachel, knew just what to suggest as I was interested in a tea to pair with my savouries and then, my sweets. Her suggestions, obviously a sign of excellent intuition and training, was spot on. It was a joy to experience such impeccable service! Each and every morsel we were served was presented in keeping with 5⭐️ expectations and was truly melt in your mouth delectable! The scones were perfection as were the jams and clotted cream. I’ll have dreams of those for some time! The salmon lox offered for my pescatarian option was - well - there are no words for how great that was - and we come from another renowned salmon fishing Commonwealth country. My dining companion had the vegan option for her afternoon tea and each and every offering was comparable in flavour and visual appeal to any of mine. Afternoon Tea at the Dorchester is a not-to-be-missed destination when visiting London. I look forward to returning upon my next visit.

This is one of the most stunning restaurants for afternoon tea. Beautiful sofas with luxurious pillows, art and fresh flowers all around. The service was great, to be expected. The food was quite good, but I would say that I’ve had better food at similar afternoon teas in London. They are quick to accommodate dietary restrictions with a complete vegan afternoon tea selection for those who need it. I don’t, but I tried a few vegan sandwiches and they were delicious. It’s quite nice that they have lattes and Matcha lattes included as an option instead of just tea. I like that they encourage you to try different sandwiches. Rather than only one pot of tea and the first few sandwiches that arrive on your plate. I do wish that the tease were available for purchase. Great experience.

We had the most memorable Mother’s day Afternoon Tea attended by Anuar. It was a very busy day, arrived and was seated promptly to our table, a nice round table by the wall with a great view of the Promenade, it is beautiful with all the paintings and fabulous sparkly Liberace piano ! Menu was explained well, Sandwiches were delicious, my favourite was duck egg and goat cheese tart, scones with clotted cream and Strawberry jam and Apricot were divine, I live for the scones ! We’re not crazy about the pastries though…… and it wasn’t inventive. Was recommended Darjeeling tea and it was perfect with milk. Tea was refilled regularly and the Mother’s Day gift was cute. Again, special mention to the server, he was gracious, classy and respectful and made every single one of us feels welcome and at ease but not feeling left out as it was a Woman’s Day week and Mother’s Day but didn’t forget that my husband was there too, thank you Anuar. The way he did his job, or shall I say his performance ? he owned the floor, people can see that he likes what he do and took pride in it, someone like him should be celebrated, he’s one of a kind, the kind of employee you should cherish. This was my second visit to the Promenade. My first visit was for a business lunch and I don’t think that I chose well. However, the second visit was for dinner and it was superb. The Halibut and Chicken with Langoustine prawns were stand out dishes. All served in the amazing setting of the Promenade. Great service from Danny made for a perfect evening. Many thanks to Sophie and Luke for making all the arrangements. We felt very special and that is the reason to eat at the Dorchester.

Ignacio at the bar was spectacular. Not only did he mix, shake up and stir exquisite cocktails, but he’s the creator of a few on the menu. True gentleman, pleasure to chat with, give him a raise! The space is beautiful and elegant.

My Mum wanted to return to Afternoon Tea at the Dorchester as she has many happy memories and it did not disappoint! Still the attentive wait staff without being overbearing, delicious food and tea. It is a beautiful setting and definitely worth a visit. The desserts look nice but aren't the tastiest, but by the time you're wanting to eat them you are beyond full!

Every mouthful of our afternoon tea was divine. Everything comes in slightly smaller portions so you can’t over eat . The flavours were beautiful. When we requested something from our waitress, she ensured it was brought to the table without rushing us. The whole room is elegant and classic. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

Very opulent interior with warm welcome from all the staff who were very attention. We booked for the promenade restaurant, however we were not aware we needed to book the bar if we wanted to sit and have a drink in there before our meal. The food was pleasant, however no wow factor, no taste surprise. The service was excellent, staff approachable and friendly. There did appear to a dress code anymore.

A wonderful atmospheric hotel. We visited for the festive afternoon tea on a busy Saturday afternoon just before Christmas. We enjoyed our cocktails and the service we received in the cocktail bar but we were left a little underwhelmed by the service in the Promenade. Having spent the evening dining at The Ritz the previous day we were mistakenly expecting similar standards. The quality of the afternoon tea (at £135 per person) was ok but unimaginative in terms of content and presentation. Although double the price of most afternoon teas I've had previously, this was not as good. The room itself was impressive and well dressed for Christmas and we felt that we were somewhere special, but the highlight of our visit was not the food or the service, but exchanging a brief 'hello' with Brian May as he passed our table. We nonetheless enjoyed our visit and award a generous 'very good' rating.

I got food poisoning after eating the set menu of the Promenade for New year's Eve. The food tasted very bad and off. I was vomiting 15 times in the ladies bathroom. They refused to call a doctor to come to the hotel as they said there is an extra cost. For your safety do not go there. If something happens to you they call the public ambulance who is always on strike in the uk and leave you there without following instructions to call 111. Their kitchen has a serious issue as there are other people who got food poisoning there too who write reviews about it. I had to be hospitalised for two days 5,500£ and they refuse to pay the bill. In the end I found a private ambulance company to take me to Harley Street Clinic myself. I will never go there again.

We marked my friend's birthday with a breakfast at the Promenade. The experience was enhanced by impeccable service and a delightful ambiance. The bakery basket featured a variety of fresh and delicious pastries and breads that were hard to resist. However, the culinary delight took a downturn with my eggs royal; the muffin was disappointingly dry and challenging to cut with the knife. Despite this hiccup, the overall visit was pleasant and memorable.

My sister and I recently visited the Artists’ bar within the Promenade following lunch at CUT in the 45 Park Lane hotel opposite. The Promenade area of the hotel is absolutely stunning! There was live piano music and a very welcoming atmosphere. We sat at the bar for a couple of drinks and were served by Ignacio who was a fantastic, and knowledgeable, host and barman. He made our visit really special and we will return soon and hope to see him again.

Afternoon tea at the Dorchester is set in a beautiful, recently renovated space – albeit the art and china may not please those with particularly discerning taste. Reception staff are pleasant, though handed our coat check receipt to a complete stranger sitting nearby (thankfully, she gave it to us, having been very confused as she was still wearing her coat). Overall, the service was chaotic and not well-paced. Sandwiches arrived before our drinks order was taken. The waiter ran off several times while pouring our English sparkling, including to fetch someone else’s drink. There was a very long break between the sandwiches and pastries, when our waiter was nowhere to be found. He also spilled tea on my mother, who was not delighted. The food was fine, but not impressive. The sandwiches and scones were good, however, the pastries were of mediocre quality and lacked the flair one would expect – neither innovative, nor particularly well executed (textures were off and some pastries were much too sweet). The Dorchester did not measure up to other afternoon teas at good London hotels – experiences at the Ritz, Savoy, and Corinthia, have all been better. I would recommend these hotels instead. Especially, as their holiday champagne teas are, in fact, cheaper than the Dorchester (at time of writing). I wish the Dorchester well in improving the afternoon tea experience so that it may live up to its reputation and justify the premium it charges vs. competitors.

On Saturday we enjoyed an absolutely fabulous afternoon at The Dorchester. On arrival we received a lovely warm welcome before being escorted to The Artists Bar for cocktails. There we were first greeted by manager Luke Haines before being seated at the bar. It was then the team who were so friendly and welcoming went in to action by making us some amazing cocktails. Now it was time for The Festive Afternoon Tea. This started with a glass of bubbles while we decided which one of the many teas to have. The tea started with an amazing selection of finger Sandwiches that were replenished as often as you wanted. These were followed by some heavenly Plain and Fruit Scones. To finish we devoured a fabulous selection of cakes. We were looked after amazingly by the team but especially Anuar and Joe. This really was fantastic way to start the festive period. The Promenade location is stunning , the staff were all excellent , the cocktails were amazing and the afternoon tea was an absolute delight. I do hope the pics that follow will make a decision to visit an easy one as it’s a place I would highly recommend.

I booked the “Festive Afternoon tea” for my mother’s 70th Birthday. We had a prior reservation at the Savoy but I cancelled after being initially impressed with the menu offering that the Dorchester offered and the Hotel itself seemed more appealing for my mother as she is visually impaired. When booking I did mention to be seated where my mother could appreciate the decor and the atmosphere, as she is restricted due to her visual impairment. The staff member I spoke to over the phone mentioned that we will be seated in the middle of the room so that my mother can appreciate the atmosphere better, when hearing this I was very pleased. We arrived on the 13th December 2023 for a 12pm booking. Upon arrival the front of house staff were pleasant enough, but unfortunately seated us on the left corner as soon as one enters the saloon, facing away from any ambiance as I had previously requested via numerous telephone calls. Due to my mother’s disability once seated it is hard for her to be moved again so I didn’t mention anything, but this did put a dampener on my birthday plans for her. There was a nice card for my mother waiting on behalf of the staff which was a lovely touch and I read this to her. The waitress that was attending us, again was pleasant enough but if I’m being totally honest I was not blown away by the service. It became very apparent that the main concern of the staff was the turn around of customers rather than give that 5 star exceptional service which is what I expected from an establishment such as the Dorchester Hotel. The cost for afternoon tea is £125 which includes a glass of champagne each, I had this while my mother had fresh watermelon juice. I expected to be asked if this was our first time at the hotel? But nothing, the waitress left two menus on the table expecting us to navigate this solely by ourselves? Again I expected to be talked through the menu and asked if we had any allergies or intolerances but again nothing. As this was an afternoon tea both me and my mother expected the waitress to talk us through the tea menu. IE all the different flavours, notes, accents and most importantly which tea would complement best for the accompanying sandwiches to come. For the cost of £125 The expectation from us both was to be asked what our tastes were and what she/the hotel would recommend. Instead all she asked was “if we were ready to order.” Due to the lack of enthusiasm we just ended up ordering two English breakfast teas. The sandwiches were presented awfully just flat on a plate with no real creativity or flair of luxury at all bar the turkey offering, were very bland and lacklustre. We both were really excited to spend the afternoon at such a prestigious hotel and receive world class service but unfortunately this was not the case. I did notice the waitress get somewhat impatient with us as we were yet to finish our sandwich’s as she mentioned “have you guys still not decided?” When she came over to enquire if we were ready for the pastries. I did find myself looking to get her attention on many occasions, but she was either not present or on the other end of the room. Because of this the tea went cold quickly and frankly by this time my mother didn’t want to ask for any more and just wanted to leave. She kindly brought out a mini birthday cake with a candle, but again this was rushed and disingenuous. I found myself having to repeat that my mother is disabled and needs time to adjust to her surroundings. In my firm opinion to warrant a £125 charge plus 15% service charge a certain back to the drawing board approach needs to be adopted. 1. Being more attentive to those guests with disabilities as most are not visible to the human eye 2. Stronger guest journey, this is an absolute must for any establishment with either a Michelin star or a five start rating as expectations will be very high. 3. Being knowledgeable and passionate about the experience that is being sold to guests! I want to know all the about menu, the teas! And the food! Based on my experience neither myself or my mother would return as I feel there are far more luxurious experiences of afternoon tea London has to offer.

You do obviously expect certain standard when dining at a place like this, but rarely do you have an experience with nothing left to desire. The service was great and David guided us through our meal with great knowledge and expertise. It was my mother’s birthday and they really made an effort to make the meal special. The festive menu has some really unique dishes that were very tasty and an extensive wine list as you would expect in an establishment like the Dorchester.

I wish I could give them zero stars because this was possibly the worst scam in my life - 170 GBP for what?? The sandwiches were subpar and the scones were stale. Also, the “gift” they gave at the end was this fruit cake but we had 3 people and they only gave 2. If you want a great high tea experience, I’d avoid this one!

We had arrived on time but had to wait for 10 minutes until our table is ready, waited for another 10 minutes for someone to give us the menus. I ordered champagne and the lady suggested to order coffee or tea. When we did order the tea/coffee it took a very long time for it to arrive, then no one came over to top up the tea has it was to the side of us and not easy access to. The sandwiches were decent sizes and the taste was not bad, ham, chicken and salmon were the tasty ones. Scones were OK and pastries were good. The waitesses and waiters were all very nice and polite but there were just not enough of them. With this high price range I'd expect much better and efficient service, Overall I'd not recommend it and will never want to be back.

I arrived on time but had to wait for 10 minutes until our table is ready, waited for another 10 minutes for someone to give menu to me, I ordered champagne and the lady suggested to order coffee or tea later. After I ordered my coffee it took 30 minutes for it to arrive, then no one came over to top up the tea so it became cold at the end and I just gave up at that point. On top pf that I had to wait for 10/15 minutes for any replenishments. The sandwiches were decent sizes and the taste was not bad, ham, chicken and salmon were the tasty ones. Scones were OK and pastries were good. The waitesses and waiters were all very nice and polite but there were just not enough of them. With this high price range I'd expect much better and efficient service, they said Sunday they are the busiest, I get that, so the restaurant should hire more people, not reduce their level of service with that excuse... Overall I'd not recommend it and will never want to be back. I tried Milestone, Sketch, Savoy and The Berkeley recently and unfortunately this is the highest price but the slowest service, I am very very disappointed...

Came here for afternoon tea time with friends and family expecting great things based on the reviews. However we found the service to be nonexistent and finger sandwiches were bland. The pastries were delicious and the atmosphere inviting. We attempted to order a glass of Glenfarclas from the bar but was brought Glenlivet instead. When we brought it up, the bartender begged us to keep it stating that the Glenlivet would taste better, yet it did not. We wasted 3 hours of our vacation here and over $150/ per person and left disappointed. Would not return.

What an utter disappointment! We had previously attended High Tea at The Dorchester, had a fine experience, and thought we would try it again, after having had high tea at all of its competitors across London. We came to celebrate my wife’s birthday. After being seated at a nice table, it all went downhill. It took forever for our server to finally acknowledge us. She made no tea recommendations (which type would go well with sandwiches, which would go better with sweets), took forever to bring the sandwiches out, then followed with our first tea selection several minutes after the sandwiches. One would think the tea would accompany the food. One hour in, we were just sipping our first tea. We finally alerted one of the other staff members that we were not getting the level of service we had expected. So, our server was pulled in favor of another, who did a much better job. It was interesting, however, to see our previous server laughing it up with other guests and doting over them way more than she did over us. The sweets were not very tasty, even though they looked beautiful. Lost in all of this was the fact that it was my wife’s birthday. So, she received no birthday treat/acknowledgment, while a group a few tables down obviously received one. What a poor experience as our welcome to London. Save your £95 per person and dine elsewhere. This place is not worth your hard-earned money.

A lovely dining experience and probably one of top 5 ever, my wife and I are both foodies ❤️. Kat, the manager and her assistant were both friendly and professional. The rail strike took away a bit of the ambiance, yet it gave us more time to chat and to enjoy our romantic evening together. The food, service, wine (Satyr Sauvignon Blanc) were absolutely amazing and great value for money. Kat, offered us a complimentary blood orange dessert that was so delicious. I would certainly recommend Fish Market and the for next time I'm in London.
