The English Tea Room at Brown's Hotel in City of London, Westminster

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about British tea service. I was happy to roll along, but felt a bit tense. Then the server spilled a big glob of strawberry jam on my shoe. And all the tension went away. Tea and sarnies and pastries all excellent, of course.

Overall, we wouldn’t return or recommend based on our first experience. - No greeting at the entrance, leading to an awkward wait. - Slow service to come to table to introduce the menu and confirm requests placed in advance. - Staff didn’t confirm our theatre showtime for time management. - Plant-based tea was served with regular milk; had to request a replacement. - Wrong tea (caffeinated vs. herbal) was served; had to be replaced. - Still water was forgotten; had to be requested again. - Upholstery chairs had stains. - A single piece of cake was randomly offered at the end, with no plant-based alternative. - Had to request our bill as staff focused on closing the dining room. Highlight: - Pianist was wonderful.

Had an amazing afternoon tea experience here on my first trip to London for my birthday! Leftar and Effi were so attentive, kind, and accommodating. The tea room even had a pianist playing live music and they had him play happy birthday as they brought out a small dessert with a candle. 10/10 experience, highly recommend!

Pedimos unos tés tradicionales de la tarde, una planta basada en uno y dos tés temáticos de Jungle Book para los niños. Los bocadillos, bollos y pasteles estaban deliciosos. Y el ambiente en el salón con el maravilloso pianista hizo que nuestro té fuera aún más especial. El chef Andrew les alegró el día a los niños visitando nuestra mesa y contándonos cómo se prepara la comida - ¡qué placer! George y Givi nos cuidaron en el vestíbulo y cuidaron de nuestros muchos abrigos - una experiencia muy acogedora. También Antonello muy amablemente compartió la historia del hotel. Todo esto fue muy emocionante después de haber visto el programa sobre Browns en la televisión. El mejor té de la tarde en Londres - muy recomendable!

Lovely, lovely Christmas treat afternoon tea at Brown’s. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented and it was wonderful soaking up the relaxed ambience of this traditional hotel.

Never having had the pleasure of High Tea at Browns Hotel, the experience was more than I could have hoped for. The staff was welcoming and professional, perfectly attentive. The menu couldn't have been more fitting. Each selection provided unique flavors that covered so many of the sweet and savory possibilities. Lefter, our waiter, should be promoted for his deft interaction and service! As a musician, I especially appreciated the artistry of Mauro, your fine, fine pianist. He had the perfect touch, beautifully controlled volume (so as not to dominate the space), and a repertoire that spanned many genres from Mozart to Taylor Swift. THAT was remarkable! Thanks to each of you who made this New Year's Day so very special.

A unique experience and the best service I've had in London. A must if you are in town!

We all thought the hotel was gorgeous and ambience really special. Your staff are absolutely wonderful and they were all so friendly and kind. However, the food and teas and drinks were of such low quality we were stunned. We are privileged enough to eat at top end restaurants and assumed that when we booked at Browns we would be treated to really top notch food and teas - we were wrong. The sandwiches were awful and dry and unimaginative; like something my grandparents might have had to eat during WWII. The cakes were dire - what on earth are you all thinking? They really were awful. I can't express enough how awful the food was. Whilst your staff were lovely (the reason you have any stars at all) one of them turned up carrying 3 open bottles in one hand, all open. He poured the dreggs of one of the soft drinks bottles into my daughter's cup and it lacked the fizz even though it was a sparkling drink of some sort. The other young man poured champagne into my husband's glass dropping the drink everywhere. The teas had absolutely no flavour and my husband (who used to run a tea business) described the teas as 'unfortunate quality' :) I hear from everyone that 'you can't get the staff' - but please, with the ones you have, train them so they can be appropriate for the £450 afternoon tea we spent. Very disappointing and would never approach a rocco forte hotel again for decent food.

It’s been my favorite place for afternoon tea in London for many years, and I can’t wait to go back!

Hay un montón de otros lugares para el té que ofrecen una selección similar de dulces y tés, así como un ambiente maravilloso. El hotel es precioso, pero el té está sobrevalorado. No recomendaría. . incluso como un regalo especial. He estado en otros tés de la tarde en Londres y esto no fue nada especial.

We had a wonderful Afternoon Tea at The Drawing Room. Bianca welcomed us in such a pleasant, warmhearted and professional way and Karol made our Afternoon Tea Experience even more special with his knowledge and charming aura. The whole team is so kind and professional - a perfect fit for the beautiful interior and excellent food and tea. The piano music was very beautiful as well. We highly recommend spending your time at this stunning place. It's a 10/10!

Edited in response to the business's reply: I have just sent you a copy of my reservation email which did not contain a direct mention of a time limit. In the phone call I received from you I was only asked to confirm the booking, number of guests, whether all guests were adults and whether there were any allergies. No mention of a time limit. Like I said, I understand why you need a time limit especially in the run up to Christmas, and you might have policies in place to inform customers, they just don't work in practice. Went with friends I hadn't seen in 7 years. Initially great service, lovely sandwiches (though sadly far more care had been put into the delicious fillings than baking the breads), fantastic selection of teas (we were told we could select a different one later, which to me sounds like "settle down, enjoy yourselves, take it slow"), the scones probably would win GBBO, great tasting and looking patisserie. But we clearly outstayed our welcome, after attentively refilling tea cups twice, the service became more "can we wrap this up for you", "I'll put this in a box for you", "I will bring you the bill now." In the end we had to huddle in the walkway to get our coats back, because they needed the table back right then and now and we couldn't even wait for our coats at the table. I can totally understand that a restaurant asks for a table back, but then you should put that on the reservation or tell your guests at the start, not try and hint by neglect when 3 friends are entirely wrapped up in catching up. Definitely something to laugh about in future years....

Afternoon Tea at the Brown. We arrive 30 minutes early and they make us wait at the bar while the table is being prepared. We didn't want to drink alcohol so the bartender recommended a fruit juice. After which, at the time of booking, they moved us to a table near the window from which cold drafts came in, which we then no longer felt, fortunately, once we started drinking hot tea. Environment in perfect British style and up to expectations. The food was divided into 2 courses, savory (sandwiches) and then sweet. Excellent flavors and food which, although not abundant, was not easy to finish as each sandwich or dessert was very filling; I saw almost all the tables take away the leftover food. I poured tea for my family a couple of times as the waiter wasn't always present. Although there was a glass of Champagne included each and my girlfriend and I didn't take it, my mother, who took 2, was charged 1 more, which in my opinion was not correct. Excellent experience but not in line with the price and the very high expectations of care and precision of certain places.

My wife and I attended a beautiful tea today in the Drawing Room of Brown’s Hotel. The room was the perfect setting for the afternoon tea. We felt fortunate to have the very capable and friendly servers Xhulia, Ritta and Akshay be so attentive to us throughout our experience.

An afternoon tea that met all my expectations. Very helpful and friendly staff and a relaxing environment. The only improvement possible from my point of view is communication between members of staff. Just an example: First, one member of staff asks if we would like another kind of tea with scones and sweets. We answer that we would like a white tea and a few minutes later another member of staff asks the same question - if we would like another tea with scones and sweets.

We had the most beautiful time for our afternoon tea. Lefter and Julia's knowledge about the tea selection was incredible. The pastries were original and delicious. The crockery is beautifully light. Thank you both for looking after us.

Hotel staff were wonderful, however my wife and I hardly slept due to the noise inside and outside of the hotel. Unfortunately I left with a sour taste in my mouth as having paid my bill in full, I was charged a further £916 on my credit card. This was a system error apparently and I am now told I have to wait 3-5 days for Browns hotel to return my money. Not what you would expect from a 5 star hotel.

アフタヌーンティーを頂きたくて最初にメ-ルで問い合わせをしてから訪れました。元々アガサ・クリスティのミスマ-プルの「バ-トラムホテルにて」の中でミスマ-プルが「それは本物のシ-ドケ-キなの？」と問う場面が有名で、そのホテルはブラウンズホテルがモデルだと言われています。そこで私は本物のシ-ドケ-キに興味を持ってブラウンズホテルを訪れてみることにしたのです。 現在はシ-ドケ-キをアフタヌーンティーで出していないことに知っていましたが、その雰囲気を味わいたくて行ったのです。 おもてなしは最高でゆったり楽しむことができました。但し金額は信じられないほど高く、その時点でやめようかとも思いましたが、ひとときの夢の世界に浸ろうと楽しく味わいました。 日本人には量が多くて私はスコ-ンを半分残しましたが、その残った品ではなく新しく新品のスコ-ンを綺麗なケ-キボックスに入れて、お土産に持たせて下さいました。他のお客様もそのように持たせてもらっている方がたくさんいらっしゃいました。 帰りにタクシーを頼みましたら、玄関にいるバトラーのように感じの良い方がタクシーを笛で呼び止めて、行き先まで伝えてくれてタクシーに乗せてくださいました、 待っている間、2人一緒の写真を撮ってあげましょう、とシャッターも押してくれました。 金額は信じられないほど高いですけれど、人生の中で忘れられない思い出になりました。

Quite disappointing in many respects. Though I’m a fan of Browns for cocktails and the classic decor in the heart of Mayfair, the expensive/elaborate afternoon tea doesn’t measure up to the standard for a fantastic Five Star hotel experience in London. The short explanation is that the service was just not good. Perfunctory and ungracious, the tone spoiled the otherwise excellent afternoon with friends and the total cost for four guests was more than £400. As a regular of a fancy London tea, this would not rate a return visit. I would recommend Corinthia or the Montague on the Gardens. Both are among the very best of this type.

Very high quality afternoon tea of sandwiches, cakes and scones. They kept bringing us sandwiches until we couldn't handle another bite. Live pianist played all throughout, and there was a sort of cosy feel about the place, as it was quiet, warm and homely.
