Thank you so much for a wonderful meal celebrating my Grampys birthday! Carvery was the best he's had! And the complimentary happy birthday gesture was very much appreciated. Will definitely be back!

Went for a Sunday carvery it was lovely, the plates were nicer and hot. Good selection choice of Three meats, cauliflower cheese, carrots, peas, swede, red cabbage, broccoli, parsnips, roast potatoes and mash. Stuffing balls. It was all cooked to perfection piping hot and lovely. The place itself is a lovely venue and different, staff were all nice and accommodating. Would definitely be returning and would highly recommend the price was great £12 Adult £6 children.

I'd heard good things about The Priory as I hadn't been for many years. We were booked in at 1.30 for lunch. The restaurant was not busy but we were put right at the end on a table next to a table with a small child. This was expected as there was already a high chair there. It was quite distracting trying to talk to friends we hadn't seen for a while. I would have understood more if the place was busy but it wasn't. The food was expensive for what it was. One of us had the goulash which was very good except that it was served in a bowl filled to the brim, some rice and another bowl of red cabbage, some would say trendy others difficult to eat. The rhubarb crumble had crumb on the top, was a tad sharp and had nowhere to put the sauce. Several things were off the menu or sold out. Gotta be honest probably not going to rush back

Priory farm restaurant was fantastic. A absolute hidden gem if you ask me. Our food was outstanding. All the food was fresh. Steak cooked to perfection. Along with amazing thick crispy vet fluffy chips. The onion rings where clearly handmade and just lovely. Tomatos and mushroom the same! The wine was amazing. And the Eton mess was absolutely delicious!! And the atmosphere was cosy, warm and intimate. Our waitress Carly was just amazing. She was so welcoming and inviting, it was very obvious she enjoyed her job and enjoyed taking the time to chat with us about the restaurant and the history of it all. We will be visiting Norfolk again and this place will be on the top of our list to come. The Lamas on the drive as you arrive are so lovely. Thank you so much

My Daughter and her Husband celebrated their anniversary here a few weeks ago and wanted to rebook for her birthday this weekend. We had a perfect meal that pleased all ages of the family 11-94! Very varied menu + lovely Sunday roasts. All beautifully cooked, presented and served and I have a reputation for being very fussy! Very generous portions! We were very full! The restaurant has a lovely ambience both for a romantic dinner for two or a family celebration meal - lovely beamed restaurant lit by tiny fairy lights adds beautifully to the atmosphere! - Very user friendly re enormous forecourt car park just outside restaurant door and step free entry perfect for my 94 year old Mum! Really enjoyable meal which could not be faulted!! We will be back! Understand just re opened very recently in last few weeks - if you are local you now have a jewel in your area which definitely deserves to be supported!

Service was great firstly, but the overall experience was poor. The food was bland, the rolls for burgers were hard and the childs pizza was probably the worst I've tasted. The desserts were better than the main, sticky toffee pudding and creme brulee was nice. The wine tasted like it had been open for a couple of weeks. To top it off, the prices are immensely expensive! Feel ripped off and very disappointed. We won't be returning.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

Like many other reviewers, I have been a regular customer of the “old” Priory Farm for 20 yrs plus, finding any excuse to visit 8-10 times a year. I had delayed a return under the new owners to allow time for things to settle down and to resolve the inevitable teething problems arising with any new venture. With a birthday coming up, we booked a lunchtime meal to see how things had settled down. I was a bit nervous having read all the poor reviews, but thought they were a bit harsh, and anyway, things were bound to have improved by now? We were surprised to see how limited the menu was, and had we been dining as a couple, would simply have left at that point. However, like most people dining in group, we simply ordered the least bad option and hoped for the best. I chose a chicken dish advertised with sautéed potatoes. The chicken was fine, but the potatoes and remainder was very disappointing, diced and boiled new potatoes in a very watery sauce with little taste and no texture, not at all what I was expecting. My wife and daughter in law did not find a standard main menu dish they would eat so took a chance on the pie of the day. This arrived looking like a medium size vol-au-vent that had been filled with some leftover beef and gravy filling. My wife said the filling tasted ok, but it had made the pastry very soggy and inedible. My son played it safe with a burger, which looked on trend served on a pice of wood with just a few chips in a small bowl. He described it as ok but nothing more. Food aside, the service great and the staff member very friendly and attentive, but as there were only two other people in the restaurant, it was not busy. Given the quality of the main course, we did not risk a pudding or coffee and paid up and left as quickly as we could. Overall, the visit was a great disappointment due to the limited menus and poor quality. This is a real shame as there is very little competition locally and the place has so much potential, as was clear from its previously successful operation. Unfortunately, until there is a major change of direction, or new owners, we won’t be back.

We visited during our short break at the family caravan. Ordered two Chicken Priory, a Steak and Kidney Pudding and a Poached Salmon. Two of us shared a Brie starter which was delicious. Not sure if the part bake petit pain was of the meal's standard - a home baked or local bakery product would serve much better? My father was delighted with the Pudding - lighter than the one my late other used to make! Mother-In-Laws salmon was one of the best meals that she had eaten for a long time. The flavours and presentation of the Chicken Priory were really good. The choice of included sides was a good one - as it allowed the S&K Pudding to come with two veg option and no potato. Baked potato was a welcome option. Apart from a long wait between the starter and the main, the service was spot on. Dated but clean toilets.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

My friend and I went here on the recommendation of the B & B where we were staying. In fact, we enjoyed the food so much, we went back a second time. On the first night, my friend ordered the lamb shank which she said was ‘faultless and absolutely beautiful’ whilst I succumbed to a delicious steak and kidney pudding, a favourite of mine since childhood. Like my friend’s lamb shank, the steak and kidney pudding was so tasty, and bursting with flavour, but just enormous and certainly not for the faint-hearted! Vegetables were al dente and just perfect too. We didn’t have a starter, as we thought we may have a dessert. What a joke that was; with portion sizes so huge, any dessert was only ever in our dreams! On our second visit, our mains were a chicken pudding with a sage and onion stuffing, which was on the specials board, and poached salmon. Whilst I really enjoyed the salmon, my friend’s meal didn’t quite tick the boxes for her, although she acknowledges that she made the wrong choice with the chicken pudding and regretted that she hadn’t repeated the lamb shack from our previous visit. However, although the chicken pudding was fine, if not amazing, she only managed to eat two or three of the chips as they were quite hard and not cooked. There is no doubt that Priory Farm Restaurant offers exceptional value for money with its hearty food and very reasonable prices. Also, in terms of Covid, there was hand sanitiser on entry whilst, in the dining area itself, tables and diners were spaced well apart which offered some reassurance. In terms of rating our two visits, whilst making the wrong choice from the menu is not the fault of the restaurant, undercooked chips is their fault and let down our second meal which is why I’ve dropped a star. Even so, the place is highly recommended and we’d definitely go back if we found ourselves in the area again.

The desserts looked great and tasted even better. The sticky toffee pudding sponge was perfectly done, and the the butterscotch sauce was delicious. One massive drawback: the wine! Oh dear...There is no wine list. Red options are "house French, Merlot, Shiraz" all by the glass. The Shiraz was acrid plonk, and I'm normally a fan of full-bodied big reds.

Upon our exit there was a young gentleman dressed in chef's gear around the side of the premises doing what could only be described as playing tonsil tennis with a young waitress. Not very professional in my opinion. And not very safe in the current situation with covid 19. All in all I won't be visiting again. Overpriced and definitely not worth it.

The main course food was almost inedible - two of our party of 4 ordered halibut which looked like a thick layer of cheese had been grilled on top and my loin of pork (specials board) resembled and tasted like a cheap supermarket ready meal. Friendly and helpful staff and made to feel welcome and not rushed at all which is always nice, we will definitely be returning.

Drinks order taken at the bar whilst we browsed the specials board before moving to our table.Excellent 3 courses, a wide range to please anyones appetite! Lovely service from all involved, will definitely be returning as it is a local gem.

Me and my wife took our family here at the begining of march. The food was practically raw, the cleanliness of the premises was absolutely appalling the toilets were unsanitary and there was an awful smell penetrating into the lounge area. My daughter spotted a member of staff outside the back entrance smoking whilst people were still coming into the resteraunt. Will never return here. Avoid at all costs!

We visited yesterday for Sunday lunch . We have been visiting this restaurant for over 20 years with many very happy memories . We always use to book for 2pm but were told on the phone as not busy could we make it 1.30 which we reluctantly did . On arrival the place was less busy than normal . After getting a drink at the bar we were not shown to our table but pointed to one across the restaurant by a young man in short sleeved shirt tattoos showing he could easily been just out of a night club not fit for establishment of Priory Farm . Half way thru the main course he casually asked if the meal was OK however his laissez faire attitude shone thru . In summing up the food is excellent but the front of house is badly letting this great place down . Would we go back of course but would expect better front of house experience and to be able to arrive when we think it's best .

Booked for four here, 6.30pm on a Monday so it was fairly quiet, (just how we like it)and no delay in being seated. Very cheerful waitress who seemed to genuinely enjoy her job (makes a change) and drinks came up quickly. We all chose different meals, the stir fry dishes are superb (and big especially if you add noodles for £1 ) everyone said meals were superb. 3 of us had desserts and what made a nice change is that they were quite substantial just like the main courses! The wedge of cheesecake for instance was big! Really nice atmosphere too, can imagine it being different and quite noisy if busy though. All together very pleasant experience.

We booked a table on Saturday evening to meet up with friends, unfortunately we traveled from Norwich and got held up in traffic jam our table was booked for 6.30 and we arrived at 6.50! We were not too worried as all our previous visits we have always had to wait at least 20 minutes to be seated. Our friends were informed that the table was booked again at 8.30! So we had to rush our food, the bill was put on the table before we had finished! So we had to leave it was overall a very rushed experience! . The food was good except the Christmas pudding which tasted like a cheap bought in dessert! I felt we should have been told when we booked that we could only have the table for two hours! We would have gone elsewhere, we did get an apology but that doesn’t make up for our rushed evening with our friends who we hadn’t seen for a while.

It was the first time the Red Hatters (ladies of a certain age growing old disgracefully) had visited The Priory. 30 of us went there for our Christmas luncheon. As we had a pre menu some weeks earlier it was possible to order anything from the menu and not stick to the Turkey Christmas lunch. I had a trio of prawns done in a fabulous light batter and service with a chili dip.followed by, prawn thermadore and the pudding I'd chosen was a sticky toffee pudding served with a lemon sorbet. The place was packed but the staff were excellent and made you feel that you were a really important group. We will definitely be returning in the summer to enjoy the gardens and beautiful surroundings.

Its a couple of years since we've been to the Priory Farm Restaurant, really only because a 2 hour drive from home is a little bit too far. Having said that, one of the main reasons we had a weekend break in the Great Yarmouth area was so we could come to the Priory Farm every night.

We arrived for a meal with family as we were celebrating a birthday. We were seated and the waitress came to take orders. We were given fresh bread rolls, it without butter which was disappointing. Main course took over an hour to arrive, and once it did it was very disappointing.

This is a must if you visit St Olaves, Special mention to Simon and Nettie, who looked after us and also suppled a history lesson. Nice to relax and review the menus along with the vast specials available, before being seated in wonderful surroundings. Good local food, well presented with excellent service. Steak and Kidney Suet Pudding, was everthing I expect and more. Be prepared to struggle to finish the meal, would advise no starter, but it was outstanding. If in the area a must place to visit. However beware, its normally booked at weekends with 100+ covers, so suggest you book, mid week when I visited was no problem.

My wife and I can only state as we found, i.e. Service was abysmal (i.e. ATITUDE being Take it our Leave it). Food under cooked, even Simple Meals (.e.g. Scampi and/or Fish and Chips), we both left the meals and complained giving our reasons the Waiter said we have never had a compliant before ?

This is the third time I have visited and each time I go because my parents love the place. Each time I have ordered a different main hoping for it to be nice. Every time it is over cooked to a leathery consistency (seriously how is that even possible with plaice?!) and completely tasteless which leads me to seriously doubt how fresh it is. It’s just dreadful. No chef could ever be proud of the food coming out of that kitchen. This place needs some serious intervention!

Having been using the Priory for many years with the family, this visit was not the best. Its been some months since the last visit on arrival we were greeted in the usual efficient manner drinks ordered and menu perused. Its menu has not changed in many many years and perhaps its the little stale-time to update? However the saviour is the specials menu, but alas not tonight, finally I found the haddock and chips as a choice- not ideal for a special occasion . The food arrived with the usual large portions, the fish was initially very nice unfortunately as I got to the large portion of the fish I found it to be uncooked, at the end when the waiter came to collect the plates it was mentioned about the uncooked fish he duly went to the kitchen and reported back that the chef agreed and therefore reduce the cost of the meal. Which in the scale of things was recognition of the error. Its obviously left me disappointed and not too sure if I wish to return in the near future.

Ok so we were late, 8 minutes late walking through the door, we had phoned 20 mins earlier to inform and apologise that we would be late as we had to stop for fuel unexpectedly. We walked in (8 minutes late!) waited at the bar for a short while, ordered drinks then turned to look at specials board, we were looking for the menu's when the lady I assume was maitre'd came up with a clipboard, asked our name and said we need to go directly to the table as it was needed after us. I asked if she would like us to look at menus in the foyer (next to the specials board) or sit and she then got grumpy and told us again how late we were, telling us the table was needed again. I said actually we walked in 8 minutes late, she looked at her watch and said "actually you are 15 minutes late"! I explained we had walked in 8 minutes late then ordered drinks etc. then we were marched to the table.
