On visiting this carvery we found the staff very friendly but rushed off their feet with no idea how to cook. I ordered the carvery roll, which described a ciabatta roll with meat from the carvery. The gammon looked very good so I ordered this. When it eventually arrived the roll contained cold ham. I said, nicely, that the description had said meat from the carvery so I expected that, hot meat from the carvery. When the roll came back it was the same meat, which had been microwaved. My friend ordered the halloumi and red paper wrap, what arrived was some sort of breadcrumbs strips, inside which was white so presumably halloumi but could easily have been chicken, with red onion! My friend being unhappy the very nice assistant offered her the veggie curry at no extra cost. This when it arrived had been microwaved so fiercely it had no liquid. We thought it a dire but amusing experience until I was struck with an upset tummy the next day.

I really enjoyed the buffet breakfast. I want to try buffet lunch too at some point. Breakfast was good and fulfilling. I have visited again couple of times. Just need a little improvement in coffee quality.

Had a great night in the Alice, great staff and carling. They always make you welcome. Have a great birthday brit xxx

Metimos en una bebida y comida durante la semana debido al clima agradable y tener un jardín Alice para sentarse. Fue recibido por una señora joven con pelo largo (abajo tengo que añadir, que no estoy de acuerdo con al servir comida y bebidas) en su teléfono pidiéndonos que esperar un segundo! ! Parecía como si ella tenía un importante mensaje de texto 'para terminar antes de servir. Bebida y comida en sí estaban bien, pero este camarera no tienen ninguna habilidades de servicio al cliente! Creo que el equipo de bar en este pub necesita una modernización, nadie vestido de manor profesional o proceda, todas las de la propia ropa y sandalias! Salud y peligro para la seguridad esperando a suceder!

Very clean since the new manager took over, new food menu in the late afternoon into evening is small but very nice. Nice change from an all day carvery.

Mi marido y yo comimos en el Princess Alice para cenar esta noche después de un ajetreado día de trabajo, nos recibió el personal competente; quien nos sirve amable enseguida. Pedí atún con patata chaqueta que también venía con ensalada fresca, la comida era deliciosa y abundante, esperar 20 minutos para mi comida me mostró que estaba recién preparado. Mi marido, que había salchichas y puré era igual de contenido con su comida y sin duda estará pagando el Princess Alice otra visita.

I ate here with my other half, while out and about we decided to pop in for lunch. the food was nothing special, meat was tasty, but the vegetables were all dry and some were over cooked, or had been out for a long time. The full range of gravy's were not available, which was disappointing. Our drinks were normally priced for this type of venue. Our table while comfortable, wasn't very clean and all in all the experience of eating here was rather forgettable. Would I go back, my honest answer is no, as there are better local places to eat within this price bracket, which are much nicer. We didn't have a desert - so can't comment on these. .

Amazing staff always there with a smile, good food and beer. All the locals are happy to see and speak to you, there is one man I think he`s part of the furniture as he is always there at the end of the bar he is always happy to have a chat. Over all a very nice expereince

Comimos en el Princess Alice como el esperar en El Morgan (también un asador) era de más de una hora. Esta fue la primera y última vez y comer aquí. Si no comer asados para el menú era extremadamente limitado el tiempo de espera para colocar nuestro orden en el bar era al menos 15 minutos, ya que sólo un miembro del personal de detrás de la barra, así que había una cola larga. Tuvimos que obtener un reembolso para una de las comidas que no recomienda también sirvieron con el asador (salchichas y puré de patatas), por lo tanto, la comida no era fresco. Lo único positivo es que el personal estaba haciendo lo mejor y eran serviciales, pero extremadamente desbordado y escaso y no había ninguna señal de la dirección, así que estaban pegando el sufrimiento de frustración de los clientes. No hace falta decir que nunca será comer aquí de nuevo! !

Again no carvery, in the princess alice, alldecks were clear again.We arrived at about 16.30 for a carvery but no food, not the first time eirher, no wonder it's going down hill same old excuse no staff something got to happen with this place, no signs people comming in for food and getting turned away .... CRAP

Has any one heard of a pub with no ice ??? Yes ice machine has been out of order before xmas, they did go and purchase ice from the supermarket but have now been told by the higher management not to do this anymore needless to say I will not be returning until a pub has ice again as a pub should !!

My local pub and restaurant, do not go here if you want a cold drink.

Colas en el bar mientras que ayer la hora del almuerzo, estaba un poco preocupado de aviso el contador asados completamente vacías, pero cuando llegué a VI había una campana, que citó un empuje útil que sirve señora en cuestión de segundos. Sólo una cosa: dejaron de hacer desayunos de 25 de enero. Este es un poco decepcionante.

I have eaten at Alice many times and visited most recently on 23 December as it was my grandaughter's birthday. Firstly i would say that I am surprised at some of the comments in the earlier reviews about the staff, in my view they are the saving grace. On Saturday there only seemed to be two people working(apart from in the kitchen) and they were rushed off their feet, however they both were so helpful and polite i can't fault them, the lady behind the bar (Janet) didn't have a chance to breathe as she was constantly serving and the other lady whose name i don't know seemed to be doing everything else, the management clearly needs to rethink the staffing levels before these two ladies decide they have had enough. Having said all that however very disappointed with the food which was cold and had clearly been out for sometime uncovered, also the roast potatoes were not cooked through, best thing was the turkey which was a new joint. Such a shame if the food had matched the service from the staff i would have given 5 stars

The men’s bogs were out of order, all the services were sticky, there were no tips on the pool cues and the carpet was worn.

El nuevo director es muy amable y educado, como la mayoría del personal. Sin embargo, algunos empleados de desprestigia. Soy un gerente de catering jubilado, no snob de sonido, pero sé una cosa o dos acerca de la hospitalidad. El lugar tiene mucho potencial.

Me pareció bastante divertido, aunque cosas deplorables por el servicio, el 'lento olvido necesito rellenar la pinta", la completa incapacidad de aviso hay gente en el bar y la incapacidad más completa para trabajar la hasta eran una alegría para la vista! Lo único bueno fue el hecho de que el Hobgoblin era de menos de 3 libras la pinta.

Visitamos a menudo en el pasado PA pero parado debido a un servicio terrible. Sin embargo, siempre tenían un buen desayuno, así que decidimos ir hoy. . This was the first time i had been in here since it changed ownership. Waited nearly 10 mins before anyone came out to serve the carvery. When the cook came out she had a cant be bothered attitude and her chef whites looked like she had been crawling around in the bins. Everything had been lying out a long time. Got some food but took it back. This place is disgusting don't eat here

Telephones to enquire about breakfast and give. Details but they omitted to mention that since they have been under new ownership (a couple of weeks at least I believe) they have been unable to process card payments. The cash machine also had a dirty piece of paper on it saying out of order.

Me reuní con una amiga aquí para el almuerzo. Hemos comido aquí varias veces antes y siempre ha sido bastante fiables. Esta vez el restaurante estaba casi vacío. Sólo dos mesas en 1:30 pm. La comida estaba bien para el precio y el personal amable y servicial, pero los muebles y accesorios son sin duda debido a una reforma.

This was my first visit for a while. This pub has had its ups-and-downs throughout the years so I've been avoiding it as of late. Well, I'm glad I went back as I had a great experience. Staff was great and the food has improved a great deal. I didn't have the carvery but ordered from the menu. The food was fresh, homemade and well presented.I do sincerely hope they keep it up.

Just been back to the princess alice after I herd the management and company had changed.I had previously bared my self due to the very poor service and attitude of the previous manager.On returning I found the atmosphere had completely changed. The food has greatly improved gone is the dry meet and veg everything is fresh and flavoursome. Even the same staff seem to now have a better attitude to customers ( a special mention to Pam how could not have been more helpful and friendly).I would recommend the carvery to everybody and recommend for a quiet drink.Lovely beer garden for the kids to run around in as well.Really good visit will defiantly be back.

So I'm not normally that 'difficult customer' but I couldn't not write a review of this awful place. Me and my good friend have been here a handful of times and would always walk out satisfied and happy with both the food and the service. However, the past few times we've been there have been awful and we presume it is due to new management and new staff. Today we went in there to have a carvery and instead of walking out of the door feeling satisfied and happy, we walked out feeling incredibly annoyed. We walked into the pub, put our things down and went to the bar. There were two people serving at the bar and both were being abnormally slow which left us waiting for about 10 minutes amongst a big queue of other frustrated customers. When we finally caught their attention, we ordered our carvery and some drinks. The man serving was taking an incredibly long time to put our order through and make a couple of Pepsi's and was being incredibly rude whilst doing this. When we finally received our drinks and tickets, we walked over to get our food but were told to wait for them to replenish the meat and vegetables. After 5 minutes, a lady came and asked me for my ticket. I politely told her we had been asked to wait to which she replied in a blunt tone, 'meats up'. Once we were served our incredibly small scraps of meat we must have spent a further 15-20 minutes waiting for the other food to be replenished. When we finally filled our plates up we sat down ready to eat, only to find there was no cutlery laid for us. As I looked around I could see that no tables were being relaid or even wiped. I ended up not even bothering to finish my Sunday dinner due to the chewy, dry meat and the coldness of it all after waiting a ridiculous amount of time for it. Every single staff member looks miserable, doesn't communicate with anybody and they all seem to dawdle around the place as if they have nothing to do. Other customers were shouting at the bar because of the awful service and so many people were complaining about the rudeness of the staff. I do not know what has happened to this place and am shocked the manager has not intervened and taken appropriate action to improve this disaster of a pub. This is definitely not The Princess Alice I used to know, where the service was quick and you actually felt welcome when walking in. Will never go there again, not even for a drink. Don't put yourself through such a disappointing, frustrating experience, there are much better places out there.

If your happy to wait hours and be rudely spoken to, this is the place for you!Being our local, we have given The Princess Alice plenty of chances. But after another disappointing meal, we have finally decided to give up on it. Can't ignore the prices are good and the food is okay... the staff are atrocious! (You even hear them moaning about working there). Tonight was the last straw- when me and my partner had to wait 55 minutes for our dessert-which never arrived. I have never had customer service like it. Not one apology in sight!When I politely enquired about it.The rude barmaid simply said "we've had staff go home" and when I said how long we had been waiting replied with "well I didn't know" then served the person next to me. Not one 'sorry' or ounce of respect. Bearing in mind that we've had a two hour wait for the carvery in the past when something has obviously gone tits up, to be spoken to in such a manner was hugely insulting. After being ignored by the woman previously, then spoken to like that, I decided to leave. That will be our LAST visit there.

Good value great service, just found out its no longer a crown carvery , hope this doesn't affect it adversely and it continues as a carvery.

The staff here all look like they want to be somewhere else, maybe they should go elsewhere to lighten the atmosphere. Cooking for many people isn't easy granted, but the quality of the food even though is still a bit naff. Probably best avoided

Carvery has a choice of three meats. All the mains come with a choice of vegetables from the Carvery.

I find some of the negative comments extraordinary. I am a barister ad when I go to Woolwich Crown Court the only good thing nearby (apart from the lovely cashier at Tescos) is the Crown carvery. The breakfasts are excellent as are the lunches, and both are absurdly cheap. I have always found the staff very helpful and very pleasant. I wonder if there are two Princess Alice carveries because the one I visit is unrecognizable form the negative reviews. I should add that the interior is bright and spacious and you can almost always get a table. The only downside is the view from the garden area but the pub cannot be blamed for its locationMy one hope is that the new owner keeps the quality of the food and does not up the prices

please do not go to this horrible place, the food is like buying microwave ready made meals, staff are unhelpful and inattentive, walking into it feels like walking into chaves den where typical drunk local regulars looks you up and down. Oh also be carful where you park as getting a ticket is as regular as anything. Stay away

The princess Alice is one of our locals. We decided to visit on Sunday with my son & friends for a late lunch & some drinks in the sun. They were also showing the football which went down brilliantly with the men. My two year old was pleasantly surprised by the bouncy castle in the garden & thoroughly enjoyed himself. The food was okay, quite shocked by the price of a Sunday carvery. I stupidly didn't check the prices as have usually been there for a mid-week carvery & when looked at the receipt I had paid almost £10 for a Sunday roast. By upgrading to a large plate I received a larger Yorkshire pudding, a sausage (which I declined as they weren't even in a sausage shape lol!!) the lady behind the counter asked me which one I wanted & then apologised that they looked so bad! The food was OKAY but definitely wish I hadn't opted for the large as it really wasn't worth it. The puddings looked amazing, I kept drooling over everyone's puddings that came out of the kitchen but unfortunately didn't get one on this visit. We had quite a nice day. The place wasn't too busy & although the place is getting on a bit now & could do with a spruce up it was fairly clean. The man behind the bar though needs a bloody personality transplant if there ever was such a thing. He didn't smile once, spoke in the same miserable tone every timeI went to order & most definitely didn't want to be there! Maybe he was just jealous he was working whilst we were enjoying the sun. Hey ho, hoping for a cheeky smile when we decide to pop in next! :)

Well where do I start, the reason we visited this evening was to watch the football as they have sky sports advertised, we sat in the bar area which looked 50 years old as the furniture was falling apart and was very tatty there was a pool table between the seats and a tv screen meaning if anyone wants to play pool then you can't see the tv screen. We sat down and looked at the very small menu whilst I tried to pick a piece of something out of my pint of Heineken and finally decided to have the sharing platter, gammon and chips and the steak pie. They had no chicken wings, chips or steak pie, for a small menu that's so poor. We changed our choices to the sausages and chicken wrap. My partner enjoyed her wrap so no issues there but the sausages were terrible, they looked like they were over cooked but then sat under the heat at the carvery deck for hours, the peas were like concrete, the cauliflower looked dryer than the peas and the stuffing was a horrible sloppy block. When the sharing platter came out we were told that we would have extra chicken strips because they had no wings but we had three. The breaded mushrooms were greasy and the battered onions were just lumps of onion which is a terrible decision by head office. On the way out I went to the toilet it was dirty the taps were dripping and the hand soap dispenser was ripped from the wall and placed on the sink. It's safe to say it was a terrible visit and could do with a visit from head office and the area manager. The general manager, assistants and kitchen manager/head chef 100% need replacing as they quite clearly do not care. It could be so much more that what it is

Booked table for 7.30 on 26th for Mother's Day evening meal thought it would be busy but actually it wasn't at all plenty of tables still available. Hostess seemed very flustered and completely out of her depths finally we were sat at our table 7.45 ok let that one slide she may need recovery time from earlier but had a bad feeling we were in for a long wait and no staff seemed to be bothered so started watching timings.Ordered meal 7.55, starters for 3 plus 2 meals not from carvery 35 mins later we had to chase someone down as starters still not here! 8.10pm starters here! 8.30 finished starters and waiting for main meal Hostess meanwhile cleaning and rearranging tables for following day and supremely avoiding all eye contact with us or another customers, there was by now 5 tables eating there was only about 9 to start with hardly overwhelming for a carvery you would think, she could clearly see we had not had our main meal & twice we tried to get her attention but nope...no customer skills what so ever as it was with the bar staff who you place orders with. There was only 3-4 staff on who seemed to have to do all duties other than cook. No apologies for delays from anyone.Approached staff at 9.10pm as still waiting for main meal and told meal had been sitting in carvery station for sometime and some of my meal had been taken off the plate and back to kitchen! NO ONE at any time had told us our main meal which again I state was NOT from the carvery station had been sitting there! Our starters had been brought over and people's desserts where brought over so as with other carveries if food is not from the carvery station then the food is brought over to you or at least you are alerted by staff but no not here, our food had been just sitting there ..staff could see us all the time. By now the food was dried up but no alternative was offered. We were too tired by now at 9.25 to even order dessert! The only staff member who was genuinely apologetic was the Chief and hoped it hadNot spoilt our Mother's Day meal. Unfortunately it had. The staff's attitude to customers was so off it had to be seen to be believed, carvery not replenished and left just to dry out, condiments not replenished, customers complaining & unreasonable waiting time for other menu meals, this restaurant made Fast food takeaway service look like 5* silver service! I am local so I know it was not going to be the best carvery and have been there before but never ever again - makes you wonder how things are run behind the scenes!!

I often travel to Dartford to visit my mum and we always come here when we fancy a Sunday lunch!Excellent value for the carvery and beer and the food is consistently good- it is one of the only places that I visit that really feels like a proper pub-grub carvery and the staff are brill.Look forward to visiting again.

I'm not usually one to have a roast often, but when I do I like a good one! The service was good and the waitress was friendly. But the food was just not up to scratch it's not too hot and the choice is not great either! They have chips on the counter when really there should be something like broccoli! It's a great place if your on a budget or fancy a nice beer in the garden on a nice day but not too good for a roast!

As a family party of four adults we arrived about 6pm, during our first drink we had to move to a different table due to excessive noise from other people. We ordered our food from the menu selection as the carvery looked very unappetising we had to wait nearly half an hour for our starters, then two main meals turned up and our wives meals were ten minuets after that.The pastry on my wife's steak pie was so hard she couldn't cut it, it was probably one of the dried up pieces left on the servery we said we did not want, the veg was cold. My sister in law had fish and was later very sick.We left when kids started running amok around the restaurant and their parents just carried on eating.We will not recommend or use this place again.

Met some walkers and did a Green chain walk from Erith to Thamesmead - Charity event so couldn't give up or back out.Anyway, my Blisters had little Blisters forming in them and I was close to collapse so a carvery at the Alice with a few glasses of liquid refreshment was much needed ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️Very nice indeed and ' Thank you 'to ' Eileen and Mick ' who gave me a lift up to Bostal woods -

Visiting today I was welcomed with staff arguing next to me at the counter as I was paying Once paid I walked to carvery section with my wife and waited for at least 5 mins and the staff behind the bar area was still arguing between them selves I raised my to get there attention and said come guys I'm waiting here The guy approach and said in a loud voice don't be rude I was shocked with his comments after what I was listening and witness between the staff I refused to eat there and got my money back And went to The Morgan where staff are more welcoming and friendly

I really enjoy the atmosphere and staff here - as well as the food!Sometimes they run out of things - as most carveries do but you only have to ask and the empty dish is replenished.The manager is lovely as well!!

So was located to work for two weeks and went to this pub at lunch and at breakfast in the weekday, the food was amazing every time I went!! Especially the fish and chips!! The staff are lovely and friendly and very welcoming!! The food is of great standard for the price!! Better than the toby carvery!! I will deffo come back here and recommend you pay this place a visit especially if your a budget!! Amazing thank you

Never again..... don't know how anyone can like this place. Staff poor, food poor, drinks expensive, language of the customers offensive!!! I'm sure they cater for a certain type of customer but it won't be me again.

We booked a festive meal at the Princess Alice and were not disappointed. Three courses for £8.99 can't be bad. We had a choice of prawn cocktail, soup, and Southern fried chicken, amongst other things, a Carvery with three meats, and vegetables including mashed and roast potatoes, garden and mushy peas, onions, stuffing, carrots, cauliflower cheese, sprouts and for children chips, baked beans and sausages, not forgetting Yorkshire Puddings. There was also included with a choice of five desserts. Drinks from the bar were extra and we had coffee to complete our meal. We had a Christmas Cracker each, and the staff were very friendly. and helpful. Well worth a visit for a Christmas Party.

I want to focus here on the food. The biggest problem is that the meat sits around for a while and dries out under the heat of the lighting. Call me old-fashioned but I do like a succulent piece of beef or pork, but on this occasion both my friend and I found the meat to be dry and tasteless. To add insult to injury, the veggies also sit around for a while and go soft and soggy. I'm not sure how the pub can improve this situation, but it definitely needs to up its game, especially as there have been many complaints in this area. Aside from this, I found the overall eating experience quite enjoyable: staff were nice and the ambience of the restaurant too was fine. The only problem is the food . . . and this is a big problem because at the end of the day that's what we're paying for, right?

Ever since this pub opened, we have visited regularly and taken friends and family here over many years. Even though we no longer live near the place we were still going back, as we've always liked the food here. Unfortunately after our last visit at the weekend, I will not be returning. To make things worst, we went on this occasion in celebration of my brother's 21st birthday, as he has always liked the food there and has become a tradition to go here every 5th Nov, on his birthday, since he was young.There were 13 of us in the party, and a few were only having turkey, and our first disappointment was that for the first time ever there was no turkey. The beef they had was a very "small" bit which was very dry and clearly not enough for our party let along us and everyone else that arrived, they tried really hard to make this last, embarrasing to watch. The pork they had were just the leftovers from previous cuttings. When I asked if they could bring a new piece of meat, I was told they would not bring any new meat out until 5:15 PM ( a 2 hour wait for us if we wanted a proper portion of meat). I paid for a standard adult meal, but the meat I received was not even what we used to get for a children's meal. Some in our party had ordered the larger portion, needless to say they did not get the equivalent. They advertise they serve carvery on Mon-Sat up until gone 7pm, we arrived at around 2:30pm, but hardly any meat (our meat portions were a thin and as small as anything) and then to be told they weren't bringing meat out until 5:15pm, is just appalling! For years of coming here, from experience they finish a roast and then bring out a new one, surely it's common sense, otherwise don't sell your carvery if you don't have anything to serve. An embarrassing and very disappointing visit!

Went in there today for lunch worst pub meal ever rude staff no waitress no one to show you to a table but even when get a table no one comes over to take your order. The food looks horrible and tastes horrible no gravey until we had eaten the meal no one at the carvery to serve the meat when she did turn up no yorkshire puddings.When we left the barmaid said see you yer not so likely.

Look you've upped your game again - I'm impressed!!Had a really nice lunch with a load of jurors from Belmarsh.Hot and tasty and plenty of it, spuds were low, chef went off and came back with a new bowlful.A proper dinner for the price of aDodgy burger from the Golden Arches.You can't please everyone ( some people just love picking holes in everything )- BUT you've pleased me Lovely , friendly staffHope the lovely lady behind the bars feet are ok ( Lols ) - ' New shoes, and Blisters ' - she will know what I mean !!- had me in stitches 5 worthy Stars ⭐️⭐️

Would not recommend this place as we order our meal we sat down with our drinks waited 5 mins as the wife order fish and chips then we went up to see if was ready and was not they were just starting to do it so we went back to our table then went back up after a while it was ready. I order the chicken and rib meal got my meal but there was no chips ready had to wait 5 mins for chips at this point my ribs were cold and when they did bring the chips out the chips were not even cooked properly they were still hard in the middle way a waste of money will not come back here.

Did a review in August after a lunch I had which wasn't great and gave 2 stars ⭐️⭐️The Manager said ' come back 'I didIt was very good !!!!Nice meat, hot veg lots of clean tables to sit at. Great service by staff especially one lady who refilled my cider when a child knocked mine over.

Visited numerous times as family live close to it so am forced to go there. Just visited to spend a voucher that was running out, the voucher we got was after a complaint for lack of food, poor quality, terrible customer service amongst other things. Ordered food, took nearly 40 minutes to produce cold food with whole meals either wrong or missing. We were 1 of 2 families eating in there. Chef standing using her phone outside the kitchen, put it back in her pocket then without washing her hands continued to serve the 'food' on the carvery. One meal was for my hungry toddler. Waited so long we walked out without it. Given up complaining to head office, the service is just continually horrendous.

Wasn't very impressed with my lunch on this occasion. Staff really busy.Everywhere needed cleaning.Tiny pieces of meat. Warm, mushy veg.Shame, cos it used to be a good carvery!!

Amazing dinner the potatoes were exquisite, not to expensive, great dinner out for the family, drinks are beautiful.

I've been here a few times recently and I must say I have noticed the inconsistency in the food presentation and what's on offer at the carvery. The banana split is gorgeous...it's generally run a big hectic..

I used to have a Sunday Roast at the Wetherspoon pubs but they stopped doing them so I needed to find an alternative place to eat on a Sunday afternoon. Fortunately we discovered this excellent Crown carvery and my wife and I regularly travel all the way from Peckham just to eat here. Delicious choice of meats available, lovely veg and roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings. The deserts are to die for too and so cheap for such big portion sizes. The staff are always helpful and friendly too and are efficient and organized as well. I find the local people from Thamesnead very polite as well and they seem to be milder and less abrasive than people fro other parts of London. Even if its been a bad week at least we have a visit to the Princess Alice too look forward to. Keep up the great work guys!! Gary and Lorraine from Peckham

This is next door to me, it could be the perfect place for a roast once in a while, but unfortunately on the last three occasions we have visited there is no gammon. First and second time no gammon on Saturday lunch time at around 13:00 and yesterday for dinner, there was no gammon again. Out of a choice of three meats, the most popular choice and the one we like is not there.The place is nice and cheap and we have no other complaints. Maybe new management, no idea but it is a shame.

Staff are friendly and welcoming and made every effort to accommodate our needs. Food was nice plenty of choice on both food and drinks.

This carvery is terrible. The way they speak and act to the customers is very poor. And the food is very bad. Uneatable. I said we was not eating and we got our money back. Avoid this places.

Típica comida inglesa de los domingos, roastbeef, pudding de Yorkshire, verduras, patatas, todo regado con gravy (salsa típica), todo muy rico. El pub está muy bien, está en un sitio más o menos nuevo de Londres en el Borough de Greenwich, muy visitado por abogados, jueces, etc, está justamente enfrente de Woolwich Crown Court, ahí es donde se juzgó a Pinochet el cual quedó absuelto gracias a su amiga Thatcher. No es un sitio turístico pero es otro trozo de Londres.

Been their a few times for the All you can eat Breakfast. Their is never enough eggs or bacon. People have to fight for them. Also the cups and cutlery need looking at before using

A very good place for a family dinner, good value for money esp on Friday evenings.Its now become a once a month event for my friends and I, last Friday of the month.

This is our local carvery place to go to now. There was another branch of Crown Carveries that we started to visit when we realised that the quality of food started going down here. We gave this place a miss for about six months, enough time for the chef to change and then tried it again.Wow, what a difference. Food was great, potatoes nice and crispy but fluffy on inside. I had the fish and it was great, no sign of oil oozing out of the batter.Very nice.We visited on a Sunday so the price is nearly double what you would pay if you went on a weekday.

Right opposite Britains most famous secure prison - Belmarsh- is the Princess Alice pub and carvery, For £4:99 you get freshly carved beef, turkey or gammon with all the vegetables you can eat. Its fresh, hot and wholesome and highly recommended

All the food tasted good and was ready, except for a one minute wait on eggs, which were so much better freshly cooked than having sat under a heat lamp to dry out. Toast was good as it wAs self service and therefore hot! Coffee was good quality and refillable. Staff were polite and helpful. Nice roomy table and not wedged in like sardines as you get in a lot of cafes. Free parking right outside. All this for just over a fiver with the coffees is an absolute bargain.

Have been quite regular for a little while and although we have enjoyed the food in the past, tonight it was much better! The carvery was full and looked fresh. There was plenty of choice and the new puddings were also a treat. Looking forward to going again :-)

Visited this Carvery last Saturday @ 6.45pm.went as family of five. There was a small dried up piece of beef, one half chicken, a few sausages & few slices of dried up pie. So no gammon, no turkey or pork, no fish & not enough chicken for all of us. We asked the staff why there was no food, they said that they had been busy during the day! This was 6.45 in the evening, where was the Chef, why was there not food prepared for the evening diners!? This is not the first time that we have visited this Carvery on a Saturday at the same time and was told the same story. Perhaps breakfast would be a better bet! Visited a restraunt down the road and had a brilliant meal, Princess Alices's loss.

All you can eat Breakfast sounds great but the reality is hard bacon, sosages and eggs swimming in grease. The toast is good as you make it yourself so I resorted to tinned tomatoes on toast, ( mushroom cost extra) my partner had the full offering but found it unpalatable. We have had the carvery many times in the past and found it acceptable for the price.

I visited the Princess Alice with a friend and as i had a voucher because I had a Birthday this month. well when we joined the queue at the carvery they had ran out of most of veg and were told more veg just gone in steamer. Well when we got served the green beans and cauliflowerev cheese were both raw. We complained and told our veg are aldenti, theres aldenti and raw. Our veg was RAW. not a good birthday meal at all. Not their usual good standards.

This place has been here for a while normally drive past it because its next to Belmarsh prison and a horrible estate. I popped in here with my boy to have a quick drink with my boy whilst waiting for my wife and daughter and ended up staying for the carvery. We have low expectations of carveries because they are what they are but what a pleasant surprise very nice and excellent value. The team were very friendly and professional all in all well done.(we will be back)

It's a fairly standard carvery, with the usual turkey, beef or pork to choose from and a selection of vegetables. It's reasonably priced and the food is average. All in all, it's not too bad to go out for a reasonably low cost family meal

Waste of money... Very disappointed with food- Flavourless and that was the bits that wasn't burnt, Even gravy tasted burnt! Staff wasn't particularly welcoming and I won't be going back that's for sure

we were a large ish party - and all having the carvery. WE arrived and ordered our drinks from the bar - and was looking at the carvery. About 10 mins after we arrived we went to the carvery - the chefs name was Adam and there was a sign asking for feedback. The meat all looked dry - so did the veg. I asked for fresh cauliflower an was told that the veg is fresh every few minutes. By now we had been there about 20 minutes and no one had freshened the veg - the manager (i think thats who it was) had to call to the kitchen to tell them they had people waiting - we had been waiting about 3-4 minutes. The children were told if they ate their cheese pasta they could have ice cream - it was bottomless so could have as much as they liked - but the machine wasnt working so they couldnt have any - they couldnt even have normal ice cream as there wasnt enough to go round. we ended up as tescos across the road getting ice cream to take home. This was my Grandsons birthday treat - wee had been looking forward to it all day.

Vile.Nasty food, really gross and dry and flavourless and expensive for not a lot.An embarrassment of a pub and dirty and unwelcoming.

I have visited here many times for lunch, each time choosing the carvery, it has never disappointed. Service is slow at the bar especially when the local court has its lunch break !

Nice carvery offered at this establishment. Very much the same as all the other carvery offerings available these days, however this place is good value with generous portions of meat and the ability to help yourself to as much vegetables as you wish.Nothing really stunning about the service, in my opinion all a little bit lacking but for a cheap meal in decent surroundings, you can' really complain.Nice

I would never recommend this place to anyoneThe service was awful. We were asked to move as they were closing a section even though it was only 8pm on a Friday.Basic options from the menu were not available including fish and chips and chicken.The carvery was truly awful. Dry meat, stuffing that tasted of nothing, burnt roasties, dry peas, soggy veg. That is after waiting an age for someone to come out and cut the meat.The kids macaroni and cheese was the cheapest I have ever experienced in a restaurant. Tinned would have been better.Now for the worst. If the food was not bad enough the toilets were a nightmare. There was excrement up the back wall of the toilet.We got out of there as quickly as we could and will never ever return.

Cheap food so can't really complain. Potatoes were lovely and thankfully the onion gravy helped cover up how dry the meat was. Had to wait to be served and no cranberry sauce but we all cleaned our plates. Will not be rushing back but suited our needs for the evening.

Its cheap at just over £7 for a carvery lunch on a Sunday, although it is even cheaper during the week. You get your usual choice of meat-turkey, gammon or beef and then as much vegetable as you would like.Only drawback is you only get one Yorkshire pud, whereas I would actually pay a little extra for additional. Maybe an additional nominal amount would be good if you want extra Yorkshire pudding or a sausage as one of the children in our group wanted.You can get a larger meal where you get a big Yorkshire pudding and sausage but it is geared for larger appetites (not kids).

Popped in with some work colleagues for a bite to eat. We had the lunchtime carvery which was good value.We went at 12.15 and it was empty but by 12.30 it was packed.My advice would be to go there early for the lunch but very good value indeed.

We go to the Princess Alice every few weeks to get a very good value meal on the way to the shops or when we're just too tired to cook for ourselves. It's a carvery on a budget, so you get the best food if you go at normal eating times. If you go at 10:30pm it won't be so fresh, but they do replenish food all through the day, so 'less fresh' is relative. There is always a good choice of vegetables. The roasties vary from excellent to poor, but there are also chips or mash.If you go at a busy time you'll get a meal the equal of anywhere else for £4.29 - if you go later it won't be quaite as good, but for the price you won't be disappointed. Some other reviewers didn't like the locals - well it's in Thamesmead. Yes, there can be noisy kids, but we've never seen worse than that and they've never stopped us eating. Some people said it took a while to be served. Er - well - most people go to the bar, pay for the carvery and then go and collect it. If you just sit down in a pub, what do you expect ?The worst thing about the pub is that they can't look after the real ale. Drink lager, wine or ask for tap water like we do. And the staff - they've always been friendly to us. It's not a McDonalds with taped on smiles and they have a job to do, but people have always had time for a friendly word with us.Okay - you wouldn't go there to impress your boss, but we have no hesitation in recommending it to our friends, or of taking them along when we're paying...

What a absolute joke.. 15mins to get a drink, half of the food missing, staff cleaning a closed section whilst leaving customers to wipe down their own tables, treasure hunt to find cutlery, kids running round like its a playground. Management have no idea, not enough staff, not doing the right jobs.. Can't say about the food as we left, fed up with waiting. Leave it to the chavs, going downhill fast

Having lived in the area for 7 years only visited recently, first two visits were fine, place was quiet, plenty of choice able to eat in peace, visited tonight (10/10/14) and was full. Eventually found a table & ordered food, staff were friendly and attentive. When the food arrived however, the staff member walked up to a group of irish men at the next table asking table 34 and handed over the food whilst we're there shouting that's ours! She didn't bother taking it off them as they had already tucked into my meal. The man who tucked in first claimed his wife(sat at another table) had ordered same & she'd ordered at same time when she had been sat there whole time, when I pointed out he had knowingly taken my meal, he replied well its mine now i wanted it. Staff member feebly said "ill get you another one" and promptly disappeared when he pulled out a huge wad of notes noone took any money or the food off him. I was appalled as the staff clearly knew what he was up to. After he finished he made a big show of how nice it was and then went up to the carvery.My husband had already gone to get his carvery when said gentleman walked up grabbed a plate and when asked where his ticket was he claimed " oh i dropped my plate over there" needless to say he hadn't and he was promptly served a full carvery!My meal eventually arrived and the 3 men at the table sat watching me the whole time I ate so I only ended up eating less than half of it. I went to the bar to get a drink & spoke to the "duty manager" and asked her if she knew that they had taken my meal & they had already eaten when he went & got a free carvery to get "yes we know". When I asked what she was going to do about it as I was not happy she shrugged and said there was not much she could do & that they do it every time they are in there. The staff simply did not care what they did & if it upset other customers.When they family left the guy had left most of the carvery and decided to have a fight outside with all 12 family members in tow.All I got in recompense was a feeble sorry & that takes the biscuit no refund, no genuine apology, no offer of a free drink no nothing. To go that downhill after two perfectly fine visits and to get the attitude I got is poor. You'll know em when you see em 3 large men with heavy irish accents shouting to each other so whole pub can hear and the women sat on another table with the same hairstyle, sit as far away as possible!I hope the staff see this & realise how much they are alienating other customers .

Princess Alice is our local just 2 minutes down the road from our home in Thamesmead.My partner and I have visited for a Carvery on several occasions, each time the service has been excellent and food to a good standard. Beef, Turkey, Chicken and Gammon are served everyday at the Carvery and on a Sunday they offer Pork. Vegetables are fresh and well cooked, food is being constantly replenished on the hot plates and overall we find our carvery to a high standard.The Princess Alice also offers the unique option of a Take-Out carvery service, where you can come collect a box and filled up with your choice of meat and as much veg as you'd like to then take home with you. This is a great touch!

Poor service from the beginning, no potatoes on the hot plate with a 15 minute waiting time, dirty tables, miserable staff no menus on tables, no staff at the serving plate all, place needs a good clean round bad experience

On the last visit I was made to feel I was putting the staff out. The place was nearly empty but they were expecting a big group. Turned out to be ten! We were told that the carvery was for them and we would need to wait 15 minutes for other joints to cook. Three joints for teen people! We waited the 15 minutes and got our food before the big party even arrived. The food was plentiful but quite bland will not return.

Average fry up on buffet display, not refreshed at the right times due to no one checking (especially the eggs!). Can't go wrong with a fry up though.

Not bad, very basic selection , if you got the time drive further to a Toby carvary get a lot more, also what ever happened to service with a smile

As for the bar staff all they want is get the punters out the door so they can go home no more pool after 10.30 on a Saturday night come on what is that all about all the local people want to play pool

We have visited this carvery on several occasions & thought it was great value for the price, loved the cranberry gravy at Christmas & they also do a wholegrain mustard gravy which is really tasty on the beef but they don't have it all the time. We have NEVER had to wait in a queue to get our food & was served straight away, also was given a whole plate of 3 mixed meats(never expected that much & could of fed 4 with the amount of meat I got). this is a great little place to stop off for a quick munch if you cant be bothered to cook.

The Princess Alice is a bit hit and miss for me. Living locally I frequent it often and I always find that, if you are going for the carvery its best if you get there just after it opens so that the meat is just cooked, otherwise the meat gets tough, especially the beef, under the heat lamps. Having said that, the staff are very cheery and helpful, with a good atmosphere and if you go during the week its a very good price for the amount of food you get.

I have visited this carvery before and found that it was a normal carvery and nothing special but visited here again recently and decided to have the option of a choice of southern fried chicken and the amount of other carvery items you can take.Not only was it VERY cheap,roughly £7 for 2 large meals,it was also good tasting.The chicken was succelent and the other carvery items were also very nice.I especially liked the cauliflower cheese.Would Definitely return.Didn't get 5/5 because of a few undercooked items and the slight wait at the carvery counter.This though doesn't put down the carvery.

We were staying at a nearby condo with a view of London and came across this local carvery. For those that don't know what a carvery is it somewhat like a buffet in the states with a twist. For 4 pounds you get your choice of one of 4 meats as well as endless veggie bar.The food was well prepared, the drinks were priced very reasonably and the value in London cannot be beat. The staff was wonderful as well.Great place that we will be visiting again while in London.
