Arrived quite spontaneously and the staff were really helpful and set up a table for 8 of us. The food was great quality and reasonably priced. Parking in the car park behind. A good find.

Nice pub and proper drinkers pub. Never eaten but I'm not paying 18 odd quid for a burger and chips. Cracking pint of Cruzcampo for £5.70. Much cheaper then the Star and a much nicer atmosphere

It was a late lunchtime and we didn't eat, so difficult to comment on food or atmosphere. However, staff were very friendly and the chef told us they have only recently started doing food again, so worth a visit. Beer also good and well kept

Stopped here after walking down from Polesdon Lacey, wasn’t expecting to be able to easily find anything gluten free in the local area but GF options clearly marked on the menu (including a crumble for pudding!) and staff were happy to check with the kitchen about cross contamination, super helpful and a yummy lunch!

Normally stop over when on my motorbike for sneaky bikers half or two. Chilled place to sit outside watching the world go by. Place has a good vibe about it. Update...still a good chill place to have a sneaky half. All you bikers, place sits on the way down from Newlands cafe.

Having visited this pub for over 3 years, I was highly anticipating the reopening after the huge refurbishment..... Unfortunately it fell a bit flat. The layout had little creativity and given the budget I would have expected more creativity. So zones are nice enough others fall flat and have almost tried too hard to be trendy. The lobby from the car park for instance has a "u" shaped seating area that is just not fit for purpose. It's an uncomfortable space and overly pontificated over by an interior designer who has tried to create a skill chalet vibe... But missed! The menu was somewhat limited and again a lack of creativity shown. It is crying out for some decent sharing platter options but the "Stix" concept completely misses the mark and is totally overpriced and unimpressive. The service when I visited was lacklustre but it was Sunday early evening so I can't really judge them on that.

Had picked this pub due its convenient location as we were having a post-Christmas break at a nearby hotel and had spent the day in Dorking. We also saw its relatively good ratings online and thought we'd give it a go for a mid-afternoon light bite. In all honesty, I'm not sure why we didn't walk out after we initially got there. The welcome / service was awfully poor, the bartender seemed to take our existence as an affront as we asked if we could see a menu and asked if there was anywhere in particular she'd like us to sit. The response was a derisive laugh and a 'yeah' in a sarcastic tone as we were handed a menu. In a pub that was nearly empty, I'm not sure this is the way to go about greeting paying customers. There were glimmers of hope, to be fair to the establishment. The website referenced a renovation a few years previously and there was evidence of this. However, there was less evidence of upkeep and looking after / preserving the decor. The whole interior just seemed to lack basic TLC, e.g. cleaning windows and frames to prevent mould / mildew growth. In terms of food, it was okay. However, there were several dishes that they did not have. It would have been helpful to know this from the outset, considering we made our intentions clear that we wanted to order food. This may have, of course, been impacted by deliveries over the Christmas period. What we did eat was satisfactory and decent value for money. Our drinks were less impressive. Coca-cola was heavily watered down, more so than most, our other soft drinks were on the flat side. Unfortunately, we would not recommend or return. I think this venue does not live up to how it is depicted on the website or previous reviews. Whilst I can overlook issues with the food availability, basic polite service and maintenance of the venue is non-negotiable to get right. There is a pub further down the road which is pricier, called the Wotton Hatch. If you are in the area, I think this would be worth the difference. We would go there instead if we are ever travelling that way again.

Placed a food order on the too good to go app, cost £17, pub was closed but taking orders online, might be worth coming off the app if you don't open. phone number isn't connected anymore, emails don't get answered. Would give zero stars but reviews don't allow it.

We used to love a walk to the Prince of Wales for a pint and a bite. Obviously under some temporary management the place has really dived. Messy garden, no tables on the grass and food that was basically inedible. Seemingly off a Brake Brothers mass menu the garlic bread was barely grilled, the pie and mash virtually inedible with gravy in a boat with unidentified stuff floating in it, my wife's jacket potato was green (poisonous) with some supposed pulled pork on top. Fullers completely missing that the pub is now the only one in an affluent area. £30 completely wasted. Won't be returning. Avoid at all costs.

Good food and excellent beer, Gales HSB on tap. Unfortunately a bit slow on serving the food, only one chef and one bar lady. They need to work out a better system for cooking for a large group, there were 12 of us, than taking the orders one at a time and cooking the orders one at a time as they arrived. Would have sped things up if they had cooked all the fish and chips together. Possibly the chef was not aware the orders were for the same group!

Went in with my mum for a roast on Sunday. The new landlord was absolutely lovely, he is a real people person. The pub is a real family affair. They all made us feel so incredibly welcome and made such a fuss of my 2 dogs bringing over chews for both of them. I would happily stop in there for a drink on my own. I can guarantee you are likely to meet a friendly face and be greeted with a warm smile. The food was hearty, home cooked and incredibly good value. The portions were large and very welcome after a long day outside in the cold. There is a decent car park, not visible from the road. This pub is a gem, a nice change from the numerous gastro pubs locally. I am looking forward to going back and I suggest everyone does the same .

Was there Sunday as part of a walking group at 12.45, 2 of us wanted to order a hot lunch, was told it would be about an hour, asked if they did sandwiches, apparently not on a Sunday, so ordered duck patè, was grey and yellowish in colour, grainy and dry with 1 1/2 slices of toast, the only upside was the chutney, also 2 people ordered after us and was served hot food within 20 minutes, will not be going back.

A very nice pub with excellent ambience. Thoroughly enjoyed the Sunday roast, Pork with all the trimmings followed by a superb peach and pear crumble being my choice :-). The staff were superb and played a major part in enabling myself and friend, both wheelchair users to access the premises. We both felt very welcomed and despite us taking up their time at a very busy period of the day enabled us both to enjoy the occasion. The car park is adequate but I will point out going up to the pub there is an incline of around 60% in places although the surface is tarmac. If a manual wheelchair user, strong arms are required and if reliant on battery power, fully charged batteries are necessary :-). I look forward to revisiting the Prince of Wales and will phone advising of my intent in order they can unlock the double doors adjacent to the ramp. Thank you again for a very enjoyable Sunday lunch.

Very nice meal. Good variety of choices on menu and everything we had was well prepared. Good sized portions. Even our 3 year old grandson had a generous plate of food. Comfortable environment with interesting décor. Prices very reasonable for the quality of food. Only slight niggle was the meals were brought out with quite large time gaps. Lovely to have a bottle of water and glasses on table. Toilets clean. Parking easy. Outside tables and play area for children. Easy access for wheelchairs & buggies.

Absolutely the best burger I have ever had in a pub. Honestly I thought that the price suggested it would be a standrd old pub burger, but WOW was I impressed! The meat was devine, and cooked perfactly, and the bun, salad and chips were a perfect accompaniment. Top marks for the food. The service was a tad clumsy, but first time I have visited this pub so it's not an issue. I will be returning! Thanks to team.

Upon entry to this completely empty pub our group of 12 asked where we should sit if we wanted to eat and have some drinks, we were told we couldn't be "accommodated" despite it being 15 minutes before the pub's dinner service had even officially begun (as advertised by the sign in front of the pub), as there "wouldn't be enough food for people tomorrow." About half an hour after we had left the pub and gone to eat elsewhere, we had one of the English members of our group call the restaurant to make a dinner reservation for a group of 12 (without saying that we were the same group) and were told over the phone that we could be accommodated for dinner that evening...The only difference in the second request being that the barman couldn't see that we were a group of mixed ethnicities and nationalities before he came to his verdict.

A group of 12 of us were staying at the Surrey Hill Yurts this weekend and we walked to the pub after seeing the great reviews for dinner. However, we were turned away. The place was empty & we wanted to have both food and drinks. No reason was given, no offer was made for alternatives. It was interesting they were unable to accommodate us, and it's also interesting that most of us are not white. We subsequently called to see if they could accommodate a group of our size for dinner. They were happy to have us in an hour. At the end of this experience, I can't help but think our race had something to do with this.
