Chilli & Spice in Mole Valley

I am really concerned that when the driver delivered our order he complained about where we lived and told us that this restaurant will not deliver to us again. I am not sure why he was so rude to us. Very upset will not use this restaurant again.

We have used Chilli and Spice for many years and have seen a recent decline in the taste and quality of food. We ordered our usual takeout which could not be done on the terrible online service as certain dishes are missing and prices don't add up correctly and it adds extra 50p here and there so CHECK when using this service. We phoned our order through and were surprised at the new cost of our takeout. Once our order was delivered we were not given a paper copy of the receipt from the delivery driver, who said he was not allowed to give it to us and there should be one in the bag, there wasn't. Then we spotted our 12 burnt popadoms. We called up chilli and Spice and first queried the extra cost added to our bill. We were told that we had a delivery charge added! We had just spent over 90 pounds and they charged us for delivery! In all our years using chilli and Spice we have never been charged a fee as the paper menu stated that orders over 20 pound get free delivery. This is disgraceful. Not only were the popadoms burnt, but the food is bland and tasteless. We have used Chilli and Spice as loyal customers for many years but will not be using them ever again.

I've been going to this place for years. Great food, but the online ordering experience is like something from 1995. Sort it out, guys.

Worst curry. Cold. Chicken very dry, inedible. Tasted like it was Left by someone else. Veg samosas only consisted of potato. Called to complain and phone out down. Will never eat from there again

Wrote to ask about content of food but never got a reply. As many such outlets now use substitute meats especially chicken like compounds which may be only 51% real chicken, do we know what we are eating? My stomach illness following last week's meal could have been the result of unwitting consumption of soya to which I am strongly intolerant. Many will be fine of course. Can't be certain but the chicken pieces were unusually large and cube shaped. Do be careful.

Having felt the benefit of Fetcham Tandoori over nearly 3 decades of living in Fetcham, we were looking forward to trying our first new Indian restaurant on moving to Dorking. What a disappointment Chilli and Spice was. We ordered a takeaway. At least delivery was on time, but little else to recommend. Unappetising presentation, unless you like mush. mediocre flavours and little to recommend to friends. We will not be trying again. Hopefully rival restaurants will fit the bill.

I hadn't used this restaurant for many years and didn't know what to expect. Because of Covid lockdown this had to be a takeaway. The order was ready within 5 minutes of arriving. The food was hot (not cold!) and of a very acceptable standard. I would not hesitate to use them again and would recommend them.

Best curry house in Dorking! Ordered many takeaways from Chilli & Spice. Delivery speed up to Highacre always fast and food always fantastic. Recommend vindaloo or naga chicken if you like heat! Lamb biryani and garlic rice are also superb

During lockdown we've enjoyed some really excellent curries delivered to our door by the staff of this friendly restaurant, our first choice for eating-in during normal times. Chicken shashni, and chicken shatkora, favourites of mine, and other treats, have been brought to the door exactly on time as arranged, and excellent they were, every time. Roll on the end of lockdown, and we'll be back inside the place!

Having ordered a takeaway Friday evening , lovely food but poor customer service when the food arrived without the confirmed order ! Will try again next time perhaps they can make a mend!

We was out for a walk last night and walked by chilli and spice , we got taking to a guy outside that works there, he gave us a few free pompadoms to take with us for the rest of the walk ! These were the nicest we have had in a while and thought we must try the curry out ! I can’t go more than a few days without a curry hit and the curry they delivered tonight was the best curry I have had since I can remember ! Everything was very tasty , I asked for the chicken well done and it was , the vindaloo was hot like it should be ! It was not greasy at all ! We were very impressed with chilli and spice and very grateful to have such a decent restaurant nearby that delivers ! Thankyou guys !!!

Two excellent meals for my partner and I and great value too. Although at the opposite end of the high street to our hotel it was definitely worth the walk. I’ll eat here again next time I visit Dorking.

Fui un martes por la noche cuando el restaurante estaba tranquilo. El menú ofrece platos típicos con el algunos nuevos (bueno, para mí al menos!). Pedí el pollo tikka biryani y fue excelente. Bien condimentadas, un montón de pollo y caliente. El servicio fue rápido y el personal era muy amable y nos registramos durante mi comida que todo estaba bien. Sin duda volveré.

Me decepcionó que ofrecían así establecido para llevar menú como esto es lo que normalmente voy para ya que siempre sale más barato pedir luego todo por separado. Los precios son bastante altos y un curry para dos con todos los adornos llegó a 38 libras. Me avisaron de que iba a tomar 20 minutos así que metimos a Waitrose para conseguir algunas cervezas cobra para disfrutar en casa con mi coche. Cuando volví pensé que sería descarado y pedir un par de vasos de pinta para el cobra como todavía no compró ningún para mi apartamento. El propietario rechazó la solicitud, aun cuando me ofrecí a pagar por ellos, que era un poco cutre y no dejar una buena impresión con mí. El curry como bueno no es sensacional. Me falta probar algunos otros restaurantes indios en Dorking pero hasta ahora yo recomendaría Dorking Brasserie ya que la comida es mejor y el personal de los clientes valor mucho mejor.

Are with friends and found it a good alternative to the usual options. Staff friendly and food good. Different menu and cheaper than others. Have had take away and very good.

Tuvimos una agradable comida aquí con amigos, pero fue la compañía y la conversación que hicieron la noche agradable, no es la comida, que fue casa estándar de curry. Lo que sobresalió fue cómo dulce estaba todo, el Korma 7.50, passanda, y platos paneer sabía como si tenían un montón de azúcar.

Visited here most recently on Sunday 10 January with a friend for a late dinner. We are always welcomed into a friendly and warm atmosphere - and the curries are definitely the best around!

Good food, good prices, Bangla beer! Great vegetarian options including channa paneer which was delicious. Chicken tikka masala large and tastey.

Most go when I'm dorking , great people, fast delivery to the hotel with a friendly face and food to satisfy a night in , only grumble I like my onion Bhaji round , crispy on the out side and soft on the inside but the flat ones from these guys are good and with there dips (special one!) is tangy and hot .

just returned from a Monday night, couldn't be bothered to cook curry. Wet to the Chilli and spice and was pleasantly surprised. Didn't expect much on walking in as it's not the best looking curry house I've been to but on the whole the food was very good, the staff attentive and in reply to an earlier comment the toilets were ok.

I've been here a few times with friends and have always had a great time and fantastic food. The staff are very efficient and friendly and I always feel welcome, which is nice.

Although the food and service tends to be good, this place could do with a jolly good clean. I don't like using the toilets as they are usually dirty.

We went into this restaurant and ordered a takeaway for collection an hour later. At that point we paid - something I came to regret later. When I returned to collect my food I wasn't greeted at all, just told abruptly to sit down by a man who I took to the the manager. After 10 minutes I asked when my food would be ready. I was told soon soon! After another wait I asked again and expressed my dissatisfaction at the discourteous way in which I was being treated. At no point did anyone voluntarily speak to me. The restaurant only had one table occupied so I'm not at all sure why I was treated as I was.

How come Chillie and Spice manage to produce food that has all its tastes identifiable and perfectly blended when so many others cannot? We have never been disappointed by the freshness of the food, the texture and even the quantity. Probably worth booking as the restaurant is not large. Well worth a visit.

having read great reviews for this restaurant, we turned up this evening only to be aggressively denied service because of my guide dog. The waiter refused to serve us and stood holding the door open, demanding that we leave. I explained that by law my guide dog must be admitted but the man absolutely refused. This was extremely distressing and blatantly discriminatory and will be reported to the authorities tomorrow.

Food was ok, rather like the older style of Indian restaurant. Furnishing and decoration a bit spartan. Food wasn't bad although many Indian restaurants have upped their game over the past few years and have imaginative menus, this one seemed stuck in a time warp. Service was fine, but the general feeling was that this is a takeaway that also has inside dining. Redeeming feature was a nice quality house white wine at £12.95. We don't live in the area so can't say if this restaurant is typical locally so would try another one next time in the locality.

another visit this time for a family members birthday, and another great night. we, as a family, pick a place to go for a birthday meal. This time it was our sons, we had a fabulous meal service was great and excellent value for money. We can all certainly recommend this place to any one.

We are regulars here. Have tried all the other Indian restaurants in Dorking and none of them come close! The staff are always very friendly and the food is great. Can't recommend it enough.

I use this restaurant for take out mainly but also have the odd eat in, having sampled all of the many Indian restaurants in Dorking this is by the far the best in my opinion, the Brasserie has a better dining room but the food simply is not as good.

After 22 years in Dorking and experiencing all the Indian restaurants in the area, we return time after time. The standard of the food is excellent, with every dish a delight. I can recommend this to all and do not think anyone can fail to be impressed.

Seven of us had dinner here on New Year's Eve and the combined reaction was that the food, service and atmosphere was excellent - as was the value for money.

took my family out for eldest daughter's 16th birthday. arrived at 730 - by 830 meal still not ready. quite busy inside but very high take away demand being served whilst we waited - clearly these customers getting served before restaurant tables. kitchen really trying to serve two restaurants; the tables in the main area and all the take aways at the same time and can't cope. shame as im sure the food is good. still - it ruined our evening and wont go again. apologies a bit half hearted from the manager. disappointing.

We tried to order a takeaway this evening for the first time in 5 years at C&S; but were told the minimum order has gone up from £15 to £18 and that we couldn't pay by card over the phone. In this day and age how hard can it be? Tried Tandoori Nights instead and they were more than happy to take our order of £15 with free delivery. Chilli & Spice pay attention to real customer service and stop being greedy on your orders that are within a few miles!

Returned to chilli and spice last night with a friend after three years as we had a very bad experience there.

Quality of the food was top notch. All the dishes we had were packed with flavour and we very well cooked. The old critique is the ambience of the restaurant. It is only a small room and whilst it is clean, it is very bright and feels a little cheap. It almost feels like a takeaway place that has stuck a few tables in and it suffers for that especially with the regular takeaway visitors leaving the door ajar or slamming it shut! I would vote this an excellent take away, but not quite so good if you are eating in.

I have now visited this restaurant 3 times with my family after it was recommended by my daughter, on all occasions I found the staff very friendly and courteous, very clean inside and wonderful food from an excellent menu.

The food is full of flavour and fresh tasting. Staff are friendly and care. My wife was not feeling well and ended up only eating 1/3 of her curry. The waiter not only noticed but asked if it was too hot and would she like a milder version or something else, no extra charge!

We have been regulars at Chilli and Spice for years now. Every now and then we get tempted by a flyer or a special offer, but we always come back. A firm family favourite.

Chlli and spice, they have been in south street for 10 years now. Since they have been open I have found it hard to go to any other curry house. (now only if away ) Real chicken, fresh ingredients. The taste is very differant to any curry house around. You can taste the freshness and care they put into everything they do. They keep the prices reasonable, none of the fancy prices others charge. They don't need to. This is a small restuarant only 32 seats, Book before you turn up, as nearly always busy. You should make your own mind up, give it a go.

First visit for us was a bit of a gamble, having read good reviews but a couple of less positive ones. Also read good reviews of dorking brasserie but had been there before. Gamble paid off, service professional and friendly, food unexpectedly good. As a curry enthusiast I can say you won't get much better at the price. Wasn't very busy for a Saturday evening, but it was easy to make our own atmosphere. Full marks! Go there.

This is a small but nice restaurant with parking on the street in front on single yellow lines.

My third visit not as good as previous visits. Enjoyable but lacked atmosphere, staff and decor appeared to be tired. Hopefully just a one off bad night, worth another try .

Why is this not at number one?! The customer service is always superb and so much friendlier than the other curry places in Dorking. The staff are prepared to have a laugh and a joke. The food is so good for the price. Especially the house specials, be it takeaway or sit down eat there is only one place to get curries in Dorking and its here!!

I'm going to bang my drum here. Chilli and Spice were, (and I say were) the best curry house in Dorking. What happened? Well, prices went up, portions went down and so did the quality. I'm not saying this is a bad place to eat. I've been eating there twice a month for 13 years...well, until March. There's better service, better quality, better atmosphere and better value to be found elsewhere. All in all, Chilli and Spice is a nice place and the food is nice too you will not be disappointed. But it used to be great, and other local curry houses are slowly grabbing the custom away.

A group us were in Dorking for a Golf weekend. We were recommended this restaurant by locals and it did not let us down. 50% of the group were from Birmingham, so we know our curries and I can honestly say that this was the just about the best curry we've had down south for the price. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable about their product an the service was first rate. Would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone

food reasonable but last time Iwent, terrible service and just tried ordering a takeaway and they refuse to call to say when it is ready - apparently they can't make phone calls out of the restaurant yet asked for my number before i ordered. dorking brasserie best for food in my opinion and new curry garden close too.

Like others we completely agree that this is an excellent Indian restaurant. On this occasion we ordered "take-away" and the service was also friendly and efficient.

Came to dorking for a wine tour was unsure of where to go for our evening meal. we usually eat out in London at least three times a week and we are very fussy. Chillie and spice was exceptional. The service was spot on and the food was exactly to our taste. highly recommend this restaurant. x

Tiny venue but lovely food and good value. Best Indian in Dorking. Good selection of different dishes. The Chicken Dhansak is particullarly good.

I was shocked how oily and poor this place was for food, the staff were ok but the food was extremely unauthentic.

Never had a bad meal here. We've been here on several occasions with various friends & everyone has always been happy with their meal. The service is good - if sometimes over attentive. Great food.

Never had a bad meal there yet but it is a very small restaurant and sometimes it feels as if you are shoe horned in - especially if there is a large group. Really needs updating/upgrading as looking a bit tired these days.

In my opinion the best curry house in Dorking. Having tried many others in the town we return here time and time again. Lovely food (great dhansak and madras), staff attentive and reasonably priced. Our top choice.

We visited here after a recommendation from the owner of the B&B; we were staying in. It was clean with lovely decor and the service was extremely good. The curry we had was lovely. I wouldn't say it was the best we'd ever had, but it was nonetheless very good. The waiters were very attentive which is sometimes something that lacks in Indian restaurants. Don't know if it does deliveries - didn't see anyone coming and going. Would recommend.

Visited this South Street restaurant around 10.30pm on a Saturday evening. Whenm we arrived most of the Saturday rush was over and we weren't sure whether we would be able to be served. No problem, we were shown to a table. The next table was quite a large party and they all seemed very happy and were chatting to the restaurant staff.

Great Indian food, friendly staff and pleasant surroundings but food must have been highly salted as had to drink gallons of water in the night!

Fairly regular visitor to this cozy curry house, food above average but not brilliant. The waiters have been happy to provide off menu indian dishes on occasion. Service miles better than the Indian restaurant round the corner! Reasonably priced.

Chilli and Spice is just up the road from me and has lovely food. The waiters are all very friendly and there is so much choice on the menu. Food is exceptionally nice and the takeaways are just as good.

As it was a chilly January Monday night, we had excellent service, as we were (sadly) the only customers. We went out to celebrate our younger daughter's MA graduation and they did us proud.

The restaurant was recommended to me and I suppose I had high expectations. However overall I felt it was average. Popadoms were fine with the usual sauces. Chicken tikka for starter which was on the bone but not a lot of chicken. For the main meal I chose chicken rogan josh with pilau rice. The rice portion was rather meagre, though there was plenty of chicken in the main dish. The sauce was plentiful though nothing special.

The food is ok but was so disappointed after the awful service I received. Rude and abrupt, I'd rather go somewhere where your custom is appreciated rather than a hindrance. From now on sticking to the only Indian actually worth going to - Dorking Brasserie.

I thought I'd give the Chilli & Spice a try as I live locally and hadn't been in there before. In recent times I have been buying supermarket curries because the general standard of Indian food is so appalling. Anyway, in optomistic mood I strode into the Chilli & Spice and ordered, 2 Papadums, a Lamb Jalfezi, Sag Bhaji and Pilau rice. Pretty standard fare for an Indian restuarant to knock up, I think you'd agree? Anyway the popadums turned up and they were so stale you could actually bend them, I sent them back and they were replaced by 2 more adequate ones. The main meal arrived and the lamb was so tough you literally had to saw your way through the chunks. The whole dish in fact was a mush of old lamb, overcooked onions and gravy, it was rubbish in short and I would have happily tipped the lot in the dustbin. The rice and Sag were fine. Total bill with coffee? A few pence short of £20, actual value? £4.99. If you are a local, forget Indian restuarants in Dorking and make the trip to Leatherhead, where for some reason they are MUCH better, or if you want to "eat out" get your curries from Waitrose and serve it in your garden! lol

Without doubt the best indian resteraunt in Dorking and surrounding area, have been a resident of dorking all of my 25 years and have tried every curry house in dorking - including the new 'Tandoori Nights' and none come close to the high quality food being served at C&S;.

Newly arrived from France and in search of a good Indian meal I relied on reviews here in guiding my choice of venue. It's a small but very welcoming place.
