Met a friend for what was supposed to be an amazing curry (that’s the feedback we had heard) sadly it was not to be. So why 2 stars I arrived was seated and grabbed me some Popadoms and a beer - all good started well. Staff seemed friendly and the restaurant was almost empty (was a Monday) My friend arrived and before he had sipped a beer and eaten a popadom we were asked if we wanted to order. As per another review this ended up feeling like pestering so we ordered - 1 rice 2 curry’s a garlic naan and a mushroom Bhaji, 5 minutes later we were asked if we were ready as the main was ready - we had barely eaten a popadom. And the bhaji was forgotten ! The food was pretty average to be fair, nice but not amazing. After we had eaten the table cleared (but not cleaned), a sweet menu was dumped on the table followed by the bill when we said we did not fancy a sweet - service was not really at the level I would have e expected. total cost with the 2 small beers 50 quid ! Not so bad Summary -Food average -Staff nice but rush you -Service not at the level I would expect Overall I don’t think I will be going back, which was a shame

Chicken chat and Tandoori mixed grill were both really tasty, it would have been good if the mixed grill came with a curry sauce and rice. No cutlery included

Food was delicious as always & delivered early. It was Friday evening so i expected them to be busy, but it still arrived 30mins early. Only slight issue was i ordered spicy popadoms but received plain. This also happened with my previous order too but no big issue. I like plain popadoms but prefer the spicy ones. Excellent service & will order again soon. Thank you.

The food was below average from start to finish. Most disappointing was the chicken in the main course that was so dry I couldn't finish it even though it came cooked in a sauce. The starter and the side dishes were just bland with no real taste. I could have been eating anything. This was my first order from the restaurant and it will be my last.

Hands down the best Indian takeout we have had. We usually go into store but decided to have a cosy night in. The food came pretty quickly, the man on the phone was lovely as well as the delivery man. So yummy! Thank you Highly recommend

You're unlikely to experience a bad meal here. I was with a very large party and there were many separate bills. How the staff coped with this I do not know, but cope with it they did, extremely well. One criticism: in the menu, they don't need to cloak their side dishes with posh names. We all know what a mushroom bhaji is, so call that. Enjoyable evening all round.

Food was tasty but temperature was verging on cold. Had to wack it in microwave. Nan bread was cold so will not order a Nan again. Disappointed as has been our go to Indian. Maybe it was because it was a Sunday

All three dishes were extremely sweet, sweeter than I would want a pudding to be. The services was horrible too, we came in late but asked the owner if they could still serve us, we ordered and ate quickly but the staff was just too rude.

Ashtead Balti went above and beyond for me and I am so so great full! The family have never tried your establishment before ( I may have once or twice 😉) and I don’t think they will now choose to go anywhere else! The food arrived for the date and time I asked for. It was all piping hot, smelt and looked amazing. I unfortunately couldn’t join in due to my operation restrictions but I was so gutted because it honestly was all so beautiful! So a really massive thank you once again. For being so accommodating, friendly and delivering amazing food! Not often you will find a place that can deliver to such a high spec on all 3 🥰

Ordered take away last night. Normally we order from Bookham, but we didn’t want to drive to Bookham so ordered delivery to Ashtead. Never had more bland and dry chicken in chicken korma! Bread and chicken tikka masala wasn’t that great worse than average. Only mushroom rice was ok. It’s a shame.

Unfortunatly the carrier bag had a split in the bottom and because the curry wasnt packed very carefully lots of sauce and oils went all over the hallway carpet when carrying bag inside the house

Treated my Folks to Dinner at the restaurant. Initial greeting was pleasant, with a drinks order taken straight away. Followed by poppadoms which were nice and fresh. However we were then interrupted every 2 minutes with “are you ready to order” which got tiresome very quickly. We order 3 mains, 2 rice and a few sides. Sadly the food was average at best. The bread was tasteless and the curries tasted very generic and bland. To top it off the bill was eye watering at over £130! I understand everyone needs to make a living but for that sort money I want to walk out believing I had a really great curry not just a jazzed up Asda “just essentials” microwave curry on a posh plate. Also it the best part of a fiver for a Luke warm coke if your driving and can’t enjoy a £8 bottle of Cobra!

Amazing food delicious and arrived so early couldn’t be happier!!

King prawn bhuna had lots of prawns which was great but unfortunately the flavour was just so bland no flavour at all just watery tomato and onion sauce wuth no spices. The saag paneer was also pretty bland and the paneer was hard which was disappointing. However the chicken tikka masala that my partner had was good and nice big chunks of chicken.

We ordered Takeaway from here as they had a discount on just eat. The King prawn bhuna had lots of prawns which was great but unfortunately the taste was just so bland just watery tomato and onion sauce no spice and considering bhuna is meant to be a medium spiced curry this was really disappointing. Saag paneer was also bland and the paneer was hard which was also disappointing. The only nice things where the onion bhajis and the chicken tikka masala which had nice big chunks of chicken.

I am always very happy with what I order at Ashtead Balti. Go quality meat and good vegetarian options.

Never had anything but great food, our go to takeaway

The most appalling restaurant welcome I have ever recieved..! Booked a 7pm table for a reunion with some old work colleagues. We often frequented this restaurant pre covid and have had many happy evenings there, however, the negative greeting nearly made us walk out..! VERY RUDE GREETING AND DRINK ORDER... Followed by a chewy chicken dish, tasteless breads after the plates being literally thrown at the tables. We knew the original owner and his son, who still runs the restaurant.... A lovely man... Sadly let down by a very rude waiter and an average chef...Such a shame.

The waiter got the order wrong and brought some items we had not ordered and forgot to bring some items we had ordered. Some of the food was delivered cold and most of the food was to be honest nothing to write home about

Had a meal in the Ashtead Balti House last night. The meal arrived with some things we had not ordered and forgot items we had ordered. The waiter all but threw the food at us, dumping the plates unceremoniously in front of us. Some of the food was cold and to be honest quite bland. One waiter shouted across us at another waiter on the other side of the restaurant. A very unpleasant experience. If I was you I would give this place a wide berth.

Service was poor, the food was awful and does not taste like Indian food. Curries are bland and lack both flavour and spice. Best thing about the restaurant was the clean bathroom and chocolate mint at the end of service. Would not recommend to anyone seeking a curry.

We went for lunch during the week. We got a table for three but the place was quite cold, specially for my 7 years old daughter. They told us that the heating was not on, only that. We obviously left. One of the poorest customer service I have experience in a restaurant.

Visited last night with 3 others and we had an excellent meal and good service from friendly staff . The restaurant was busy which made for a great atmosphere . We simply could not understand the recent poor reviews and we will certainly not hesitate to return

I always eat here but haven't ordered a delivery for a long time as I prefer to use a restaurant where I can alter the spiciness etc. on-line as Ashtead Balti havent always noted the requests. I requested the changes in the note section and everything came as requested. Food was simply amazing and I will definitely go back to using them regularly.

Judging by recent reviews I’m not the only one who thinks this place has gone seriously downhill . I’d been twice before but last visit was Sept 2021 and really enjoyed the food both times . Tonight there was food all over the floor by our table ( like everywhere - thought they’d make an effort to at least brush it up ) but the worst thing was the food and the price of it . Chicken Baltic at £15 were bland to say the least and my partners chicken tikka tasted of cheese so she left most of it - not sure if meat was funny or it had been mixed with something it shouldn’t have but all 3 of us tried I’d and said the same . Beer even though it was out of a bottle was unusually flat and they are £7:25 each ! It was busy but service was not friendly at all . The only positive was that the boss did come and say sorry about the tikka and take it off the bill . Shame as will never go back now .

I called up and explained, they said another one was on its way but they want the meat one back. I thought this was worrying so said ok but I will add fairy liquid. 3 minutes later I get call from a very angry young man raising his voice and very angry that I would put fairy liquid in food they wanted back. He kept on shouting why. He had called me to be abusive which was very upsetting. This is a restaurant that myself and my family have regularly used for pick ups and in the restaurant for lots of occasions. I am disgusted at how I have been treated and will never use them or recommend again. Bad customer service. The only good thing about my experience is how lovely Chad the delivery driver was.

Food was delivered well within the time slot given. However some dishes were cold. The prawn puri was a little dissapointing.

Had the Prawn Dopiaza; bland with large chunks of undercooked onions and peppers. Not an authentic curry, in fact didn’t really taste of curry - or anything else. Prawns over cooked and hard.

Tried it again, not going back. Some dishes nice but the chicken in one dish was so dry, and the naan bread tasted slightly stale.

I am so sorry to say , as we order from here regularly, and usually the food is excellent but this order was not of good quality at all. The poppadums tasted stale. The onion Bhaji tasted of just batter. The Chicken Balti and korma were ok but side dish was watery and bland. There was a lot of water and oil seeing out of the food when the food was plated up. We couldn’t eat it

Delicious curry, friendly staff, what's not to love.

First time ordering from here for collection. Very polite welcome upon arrival, food was hot after getting home, rice was fluffy and fresh not microwaved, chicken and lamb tikka good about of meat in both and flavoursome sauce, baji were ok could do with being smaller with a bit more seasoning pashwari nan was amazing, decent amount of coconut! Will be returning as it’s not over priced

Delicious food, little bit pricey but everything is nowadays!

Ordered from here reading good reviews but was so disappointed! :( tikka masala was really runny, no flavour, the chicken was so tough! the peshwari naan wasn’t sweet by any means which is what I’m used to elsewhere, the food turned up cold. On a lighter note the Bombay potatoes were absolutely delicious even though slightly cold. Unfortunately won’t be returning to this restaurant.

Not as good as it used to be sadly. Much smaller portions, one chicken dish had five small pieces of chicken only, and all dishes had lots of sauce to bolster the portion. Cost wise, prices have increased too. Not sure I’d go back. Service mediocre.

First time trying this restaurant for a takeaway. Food was tasty and hot- but questionable portion size for curries… rice filled to the top but curry only halfway full which was disappointing.

The taste of everything was absolutely beautiful, but the quality of the meat really let this meal down! The lamb in the mixed started was so tough you couldn’t tear it let alone chew it! And the chicken in the chicken tikka masala was tough, almost like it had been recooked! Such a shame with the flavour being so nice and lovely phone and delivery service!

We were looking forward to going for a meal here, never tried it before. What a waste of money, and couldn't physically eat after seeing a waiter leave the toilet walking past my husband who was also in there, not washing his hands, then proceeding to immediately pick up dishes and take them to a table. He then started picking his nose, before collecting more dishes. The food was obviously frozen/heated up as I have never seen a completely flat squashed together bhaji before that was like a fish cake! (and tasteless). The pappadums (poppadoms whichever spelling you prefer) were soft, and probably left over from a previous service, with only the top 2 hot and fresh out of 6. The mains arrived and were tiny portions for the price, and tasted of absolutely nothing apart from a very sugary Bhuna which was inedible. The waiters hovered around obviously wanting us to hurry up, and didn't listen to what we asked for, and were too busy looking at their phones, apart from one who was wonderful and friendly telling us about his children and had genuinely excellent customer service. It was the older waiters and the manager who really should know better, and were visibly put out that they had to do some work. We ended up spending a lot of money for absolutely nothing, and would recommend going anywhere but here if you want a decent experience. Absolutely awful, would never go again.

Food was tasteless, not only that I used toilet saw staff use men's urinal and not wash his hands Descusting. Do not eat here,in my vew food minimal and not good tasteless food .Sorry but very true.they hover over you while you eat.Discuting don't eat here we were both I'll. And paid cash £148.00 for a Dredfull night.

I have called Ashtead Balti many times to order a delivery and they are very rude. They do not have any time and always seem like they are in a rush. Food is nice but the customer service is poor.

Both curries (korma and chicken tikka masala) we had were quite watery and not much taste but the saag paneer and the onion Bhai's where nice.
