A rathe rare, grown up, mellow public house, full of people babbling away in convivial conversation, drinking excellent beer or whatever they fancy. Great service and in the beer garden to the rear, young staff come around to take your top-up order. Nice touch. Nice pub, nice people.

Had an enjoyable evening with friends, we started inside then we went to an outside table. This was very pleasant way of spending a couple of hours in the fresh air. We didn't eat.

We live in WoT and this is our favourite local pub. There’s been a lot of change over the last 3-4 yrs, so I’d treat some of the older reviews with caution. It’s improved a lot in recent years, and the current landlords have made a big positive difference. Plenty of courteous well trained staff, and they actively wander the pub checking if you’d like more drinks. Garden’s nice with a mix of open and covered space. For a little while they haven’t done food, and sadly the Friday evening sausages and roasties only make rare appearances! They usually have terrestrial rugby internationals showing but no Sky/BT. But overall friendly, clean, nice buzz and good service

Lovely pub, good selection of drinks - cosy. Smallish garden area but brilliant in the summer - a sun trap sheltered from any wind with covered areas if you like some shade.

Not been here for at least four years and what a vast improvement. All the scruffy old furniture has been ditched and in the main bar/lounge area replaced with high tables and very comfortable high stools. And it is much cleaner, and there has clearly been a change of licensee. It was pretty quiet for a Friday night. Of course there is no standing at the bar so that might account for it. Beer was well kept.

Having lived in Westbury on Trym for many years, I have watched with great interest the highs and lows of all its pubs. The Prince has always been one of the better classy pubs in Westbury until recently. Despite serving a decent real ale or two, unsavory characters have infiltrated the pub. There is no food server any more, and foul and abusive language is now common place. Drug taking in the toilets is clear and obvious to all. Builders in filthy workwear slouch in every corner. The management is week, or just does not care! In any event, many of the old regulars are drinking elsewhere to avoid the regular drug and alcohol fueled fights that are now common place outside the pub. Such a shame.

Black Swan next door wouldn't let us in unless we used their app. So it was a no brainer to pop next door to the Prince. Can't see any reason to go back to the Duck any time soon, even when the lock down is over. Prince was altogether more friendly and welcoming.

Me and the boys regularly come here. It’s one of many pubs a mid way point between our houses. However on a Friday they bring out free sausages and roast potatoes which just makes POW the first choice. Great staff. Great ambience. Would recommend if looking for a great local with lots of regular faces.

Servicio desagradable e indiferente. Precios exorbitantes. 1 pinta y 2 medias pintas 11. 40. Las mismas bebidas en un Pub amistoso no muy lejos 7. 40. Disfruta de tus ricos lugareños.

Visited for a Sunday roast, something that seems hard to find in Bristol. Really good value. Five choices including a vegetarian. We both had beef, cooked to perfection with more veg than we could eat. Great homemade puddings, will defiantly be back. A real find, home cooking and really reasonably priced.

This pub USED to be the pillar of the community sadly it has lost its way. Not very welcoming however bar staff are ok For Camra members please note beer quality is poor. Not a great range. If you want a soft drink and it comes from the handheld dispensing gun then good luck as this pub has a constant problem with Co2. Soft drinks often served flat. You need to try it to realise how good the other Westbury on Trym pubs are

What a great welcome we received. One of our party needs a walking aid and finds getting about a bit difficult but the staff at the Prince of Wales could not have been more friendly and helpful. I enjoyed a nice couple of pints, the food was excellent and plenty of it. It got a little noisy in the bar when the rugby was on the TV but what else would you expect. It did not concern us because by that time we were about to leave anyway. On the way out one of the customers went out of his way to help. If I lived in the area, this would definitely be my local.

This is a classic pub. It concentrates on it's beers and offers a great range. There is pub tv (lots of screens) especially sports and the atmosphere is just like the oldfashioned pubs - especially Friday evening and also when we went back on a Rugby Saturday.

We have been visiting this pub at various stages over the last 15 years, through its various incarnations. Some of the managers have been good, but we stopped going recently as there was no food and poor management. There is a new team with a tenant rather than a manager. He has made a number of changes including removing some of the wonderful Victorian cartoons and painted the indoor walls white. Whilst it might look cleaner personally I think it has lost some of the character. We had lunch- fish and chips and a steak sandwich. It was ok - perfunctory rather than served "with love". Whilst we will still occasionally pop in for a beer as that is still good, we will not eat there as there are better pubs in the area for food.

This was my first visit to the Prince of Wales for several years. We wanted somewhere to have lunch whilst discussing some papers prior to a meeting. The pub was fairly empty so lacked atmosphere but this was probably because of the time of day. The menu was, for the most part, a throwback to the old days of pub food - fish and chips, ham and chips etc. However the quality and the quality of the food was very good and we left feeling that we had received value for money.

I went to this pub to meet some friends. At first I thought it seemed like a nice place even though the beer was quite expensive. However, just as I was enjoying my pint I overheard the owner talking to the bar maid. He was just so rude and continuously mean to her. The bar maid had been very friendly to us and seemed to be doing a good enough job. I was appalled at the owners bullying behaviour and had to drink up and leave in disgust. I shall not be drinking there again.

This is not a restaurant. It's an overpriced pub, beer £3.90 per pint. No drinks price list displayed at bar. Landlord said they had put prices up, today,10p per pint but he had not had time to update the prices spreadsheet. That's an example of the customer service found here.

We came out to the Ashton for a spot of lunch, we booked in advanced so we swiftly got taken to our seats, the lovely Charlie and Harry were our waiters. They ensured we had everything we needed and provided excellent service. The food was amazing we had 2 seabasses, but one of us had a prawn allergy. Our servers checked with the chefs and managed to make a sea bass meal without prawns so I could still have the meal I wanted. Thanks

Ordered a vegan pastry slice fir my 4 year old daughter who has a serious allergy to dairy. I asked twice to be sure, that i had been served the correct item and that it was vegan and was told yes if course it is. I got back to my car and gave it straight to my daughter but she said it smekt strange it was only when i got home that i realised that it was definitely not vegan. It is extremely lucky for Nero that she only had a corner of the pastry. Had she eaten it we would probably be tellimg a different story. To make things worse we returned to the shop the following day to ask why we had been served carelessly and the kids behind the counter thought it was funny. I spoke to a young girl who could not care less about their negligence and there was no sign of an apology our caring attitude towards my daughter or us as customers. We werent even able to get our money back on the item Nero need some very serious staff training, its only a matter if time before they kill someone who has serious allergies. I wont be going back EVER

We stumbled upon this cafe and as it didn't look busy grabbed a table. There's a great range of sandwiches on offer. Cakes are very tasty. Coffee prices are pricey but are really good. Tea was a 'proper brew' according to my brother in law, and he's fussy with his tea. What was extremely disappointing were the staff. 'Blondie' has attitude and very poor customer service skills. A lady purchased several cakes whilst Blondie was most unhelpful, being rude and short tempered.'Mohawk' appeared to do nothing but standing around talking. Young short haircut was doing most of the work whilst B and M were in deep conversation. A customer asked for some sugar. B ignored him, and carried on talking to M. Customer asked again, B gave him a sachet turned to M and actually apologised for the customer's interruption of their conversation! I had never witnessed such rudeness. NEWS FLASH. B and M. Customers purchase goods, you serve them, you get paid for that. Not for talking away whilst customers wait for you to decide when to serve them. We won't be back. There are plenty of other coffee shops where staff actually work and treat customers with respect.
