The Prince of Wales in Sheffield

Family came over for the yearly visit so decided to bring to our local for a delicious Sunday Lunch. Staff were friendly & accommodating, the food was tasty and hot even tho was really busy but our service was excellent!

Came here for Sunday dinner this evening and unfortunately it’s left us very disappointed (and hungry!) The service was fine to begin with, we were sat quickly and our drinks orders were taken and received quickly but it went down hill from there. The food was tepid at best and blatantly microwaved. We aired our concerns and received a replacement for the cauliflower cheese which was very cold. After that however, it felt like our table was being avoided. We weren’t asked how our food was once we had finished meaning we had to bring up the concerns ourselves, which always feels a bit awkward. We did eventually receive our bill, which had a discount on it that only covered the inedible sides and a half hearted apology on the standards of the food. Unfortunately we won’t be returning.

Delicious, high quality food with good portion sizes. Some gluten free and allergy friendly options. Comfortable with a nice atmosphere and the staff are always really professional. My only recommendation is the accessible/disabled downstairs toilet is quite dark and dingy and doesn't seem to lock properly so this could do with improving. Otherwise highly recommended.

Style over substance. pretentious. 2 stars as place is nice and waiter was great BUT todays steak pie £19 was really lacking in any quality substance with little meat (I withdrew the large 2 pieces of "steak" as chewy/fat). Change your supplier !! Mash was the best part of the meal.

First and last time, the place and staff is ok but we paid £60 for 2 tiny and really chewy ribeye steak (they were also cold when they arrived at the table )I think the food quality need a massive review. We were a table of 7 we did not mind spending money but we were expecting quality back and we did not have it. Really disappointed

I have been going to this pub since 1978. I always buy the staff drinks as they work so efficiently,and for most parts are polite and courteous. I have left many 5 Star reviews on here, and on their own site. I went on their website to see what time they were open on Christmas Day. It clearly stated 11.30am. When I got to the entrance off Ecclesall Road, it had a notice on the door clearly saying you can't get served unless you have booked. I looked through the door and could see the bar area was empty. I therefore decided to enter to see if I could get a drink. A young man said no as we hadn't booked, before I could respond , the rather rude female staff member jumped in very quickly with a rather miserable offensive face quickly and curtly telling me the same. There was no need at all, for such crap communication and poor customer service. I asked if I could sit at the corner of the bar out the way for just one drink. Same curt, rude reply, by the female. I was treated like a stranger, an imposter, how ridiculous. Now let me tell you this, I know for a fact the pub was packed Christmas Eve, and they must have worked very hard and finished late. However it's their choice of career. Had the pub been very busy with staff whizzing past with hot meals, I would never even contemplated staying a second. I did not deserve to be treated like that, should the female member of staff ever attempt to serve me again I shall refuse her. Rude, cocky and drastically lacking in customer service skills.

Hi guys, I visit this lovely pub regularly, food is always amazing, however on Christmas Day we visited for our Christmas lunch. My family waited for quite a long time for our table, once eventually seated we ordered from our table. We waited for quite a while for our starter, eventually we had our order taken but again waited for it been delivered to our table. The main course when it finally came was not very hot at all, no stuffing no Yorkshire pudding, some of the vegetables were harder than should have. The main also was different, one customer had 5 roast potatoes, one had 3 and another had 2, so all in all certainly not with £95.00 all bar the penny.

2nd visit. First was great. Had another Sunday roast today off the Specials menu. Pan roasted lamb. Really good. Veggies were good and cauliflower cheese was goodish. Pan fried octopus was well cooked but lacked seasoning. The real disappointment were the roast potatoes. Soggy and tasted old. And the Yorkshire pudding (considering we’re in Yorkshire) was inedible. It cracked like a stale cracker. Really poor, sorry. Will think twice about coming back. A lot of much better Sunday roast options in Sheffield.

Great food, good atmosphere but when you are standing at the bar for 5 minutes and lots of staff walk past you, don't acknowledge you (you are the only person at the bar) and you have to ask.....not great. Even if you are busy, you still need to say something to your customer (having worked in a bar, you know when someone is there). I will be back - just gentle feedback.

The food was excellent and Faye our waitress was very attentive and very friendly. Would definitely recommend eating here.

Good food that goes beyond the usual pub potboilers (not saying theres no sticky toffee pudding) ... particularly enjoyed the octopus starter and the scallops with paper thin prosciutto.

Very impressed. The festive menu was excellent. I expected the usual bland mass catering but it was good quality and well cooked. The service was friendly and efficient. It was also very good value for money.

Had a lovely time last night, great place to catch up with friends. Good atmosphere and drinks. Special mention to Ethan / Ham Sandwich at the bar - very helpful and efficient. Big praise to the young lad, credit to the place.

Incredible food from start to finish! I would eat the mash every day for the rest of my life especially with the beef dripping sauce. Faye was an amazing server and we couldn’t ask for any more! We changed a few of the sides from chips to mash or chunky chips to fries and she was more than accommodating and understanding! My partner also has a few allergies and Faye was understanding and the best server we’ve ever had with this sort of thing! Couldn’t recommend more! Thank you to the team x

A meet up with friends..the Prince of Wales proved to be the perfect choice; a wonderful ambience, excellent food and service.

Enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch. Plenty of food, very good quality. Roast beef was delicious as was the creme brulee. Ethan was friendly and attentive and we thought he and Harriet did a great job serving us. Will definitely visit again. Thank you for making it such a nice occasion.

Top pub up in the clouds of one of Sheffield's 7 hills. Well recommended. Super location next to a lovely gift shop too.

Sunday lunch was great, but the choice on the menu for other items were also great. Ethan was very friendly and helpful, the food was lovely and service was brilliant. It was our first visit and I’m sure we’ll be back and recommend to others.

The whole experience was delightful. Amazing food and great vibes. The standout for us really was the service, Alex was wonderful and so attentive. He really made our Sunday! Will definitely be back.

Had a family meal here, we were greeted by Freya who was really welcoming and took us to our table. The food was superb and our waitress Harriet ensured we had all our needs met, while being friendly and chatty. Overall great experience.

Harriet served me again at The Prince of Wales, she went above and beyond as always to ensure we had a perfect experience. The food was delicious, we especially enjoyed the Camembert! Thanks to Freya who served us on the bar too, we can’t wait to come back!

Had the trio of roast, quite a small amount of meat. Not too bad but nothing special. Great service from Harriet and lovely decor and swirling tap.

Our waitress Harriet was very lovely and accommodating for our visit. The portion sizes were disappointing and I needed a magnifying glass to see my meat on my trio of meats roast dinner.

Reasonable food and drink. Well looked after by caring and amicable staff. Had trio roast. I'm very disappointed. Smallest piece of pork ( 1 square inch ) chicken leg size of a sparrow. The beef was very tender and tasty. I should have had the beef. Roast potatoes deflated when I cut into them.

Hm got to been different chef as roasts was as hard as cannon balls the steamed beef was great but the other slice of beef was so tough gravy like water did not no that mashed potato’s was extra but did see that cauliflower was service good will not be going again unless food better

Truly excellent slow cooked beef main but disappointingly flavourless sticky toffee pud. Good ambiance, service, price and environment. One of the best pub meals in the area and return visit planned.

Faye was a delightful waitress, polite and smiling. Tom gave us a warm welcome as we arrived and showed us to our table earlier than our booking which was really kind. The food was tasty and beautifully served. Lemon sole was yummy!!

Came in with my family for a roast and it was great value for money. Harriet looked after us so well and was excellent with my little girl. We will be back to the prince soon! They really do cater well for young families. Deffo recommend!

Thursday night tea at prince was exceptional. had the chorizo linguine with scallops and it was the best pasta I've had outside an Italian restaurant. would deffo recommend. And the service from our waitress Harriet was nothing short of outstanding. Thanks to her in particular and the rest of the team.

I recently had an exceptional dining experience at The Prince of Wales, thanks to the fantastic service and delicious food. After a lovely, but tiring walk in the Peak District we had earned a nice relaxing meal, to our luck Harriet, our waitress, was attentive, and made us feel truly welcomed in the venue. Her knowledge of the menu was excellent as a result her recommendations were spot on, and she ensured my vegan burger was the best option for my dinner, IT WAS THE BEST BURGER I’VE HAD since becoming vegan. Whilst my partner thoroughly enjoyed their pork!! The ambiance of the restaurant complemented the meal perfectly, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, I left feeling completely satisfied and will certainly be returning as soon as possible. I highly recommend for anyone seeking a top-notch dining experience!

The menu is a good variety and the quality of the food has definitely improved over the last couple of years. Yesterday, I went with a few friends for lunch at the Prince of Wales restaurant. We ordered a variety of small plates to share along with mini desserts and coffee. The food was excellent - very tasty and well presented. The staff were polite and helpful. We had a very enjoyable relaxed afternoon. I have used this restaurant several times, including, group Christmas meals. The food has always been of an excellent standard. An added bonus was ample free parking for customers- very difficult to find in this locality.

Made notes on booking regarding birthday celebration, this wasn’t mentioned or noted by the team at any point. Immediately met by we have sold out of all our specials and some items on the menu. Really poor start to the meal, the food was great throughout, drinks while good, we felt bad ordering more cocktails as the bartender moaned every time we did, we were only a few feet from the bar in full view of him. As it came towards the end of the meal the service became very sporadic and made it harder to order further drinks. Really poor visit, shame as I had highly recommended to my friends for my birthday celebrations
