Pieminister in Sheffield

Amazing pies! We had lunch here and both had the Mooless Moo (veggie "steak" pie) with mash, gravy, and peas. My other half somehow managed the apple crumble and ice cream as well, and really enjoyed it. Service was friendly and really quick. Oh and there's a wheel you can spin to win. We won a free pie and a free pud, definitely an incentive to come back!

Super friendly staff, had the pie week cheese pie, one of the nicest things i have ever eaten.

Update, so the business replied and asked me to contact them by email to discuss our visit, I did so but some 48hrs later I've still not had a reply to my email, and that is really bad customer service indeed ! Don't reach out and then not follow up the complaint! Ok I am not going to Lie, we were both super excited to visit Pieminster as we both loved a good Pie ! However the hype failed to live up to our expectations. We were shown to our table by what can only be described as one of the grumpiest people I've ever come across, and man is this place soulless it has zero atmosphere and it was like being in a school dinner hall, with seriously uncomfortable chairs and benches with tiny wobbly tables too. So our order was taken for drinks and we got asked about food but asked for a few more minutes, what felt like an age she came back to take our food order , this was taken from us with zero passion or warmth from the staff member, but hey ho let's face it we were there for Pie !!! The food arrived promptly on stupid wooden chopping boards and the wobbliest tin plates that had sucked what little heat out that there was of the Mash Potato ( yes like other reviews on here our mash was cold too ) there is zero excuse for any food to come out luke warm or cold ! I'm not sure what was going on with what they called gravy as it was so thin and runny and devoid of any flavour or seasoning that it was pointless. The pork cracking was ok, with a nice crunchiness and quite tasty, but the tiny tiny sausage had a weird flavour. The Yorkshire pudding and carrot and swede mash were in my opinion the highlight of the whole meal, which brings us into why we actually came to this restaurant........ The 🥧 I had the Steak and Kidney and my Fiancé had the Chicken and Mushroom, when I cut mine open the smell was very good with a nice tang from the kidneys, nice and crispy pastry but verging on being overdone, however the taste...... It was so bland and tasteless I had to add seasoning myself to bring out any flavour from the filling. My fiancé was pretty much of the same opinion that it lacked seasoning. The biggest let down on the plate for both of us was the so called mini roasties, these were in fact very small cubes of overcooked and burnt pieces of potatoes and added zero value or taste to the plate. We dutifully cleared our plates as we were both very hungry, however we were both left feeling hungry still and not filled up at all. It then took a while to attract the attention of one of the two servers so we could pay our bill. And it was after I had paid that I was left with a very sour taste in my mouth.......... A discretionary service charge of 10% had been added onto the bill without checking it was ok to do so, and I was only aware of this charge after I had paid and checked my receipt when leaving. Now I am of the opinion that good service deserves to be rewarded however that is my choice to make, and certainly in this case the service we had received did not in fact warrant any form of extra monetary reward from us. So just on this fact alone I will never return to this company's restaurants as you took more money from me than you were in fact authorised to do so !!!!! The poor food could have been an off day and we would have given it another bite of the pie ! But after pretty much stealing from me, never again !!!

El servicio fue espantoso, visitó alrededor de las 12 : 30 pm y tomó casi 30 minutos tener nuestro pedido tomado para esperar otros 40 minutos para tener nuestros pasteles cocinados y entregados. Y el lugar no estaba exactamente ocupado a mitad de semana y solo había dos empleados trabajando por lo que pude ver. También para arrancar las cajas no estaban funcionando correctamente y nos cobraron de más a mí y a un amigo £ 1. 60 aunque ignorado como quería salir después de dos horas allí. Una vez que tenía la comida, el pastel era muy agradable, aunque arruinado por el servicio muy lento.

Lovely restaurant! Great for a hearty meal. QUALITY grub! The pies are 10/10, only rated slighy less as the sides were kinda small, but I was STUFFED at the end of my meal so what do I know? Wouldn't recommend the raspberry shake (wasn't very flavourful at all just milk) Definitely returning again

I have been to a couple of the other stores (Birmingham and Bristol) so this is not my first time visiting a Pieminister, I had the pork scratchings with apple sauce and the Deer & Beer ( this is one of there lovely pies with wild venison milk stout and mushroom)mothership refers to what you get with your pie which is mash potato on the bottom then the pie, minted mushy peas and crispy onions and for drink I had 2 Ciders all In all very nice, if you like nice pies then I would highly recommend this place, they have around 10 restaurants in the UK.

Pedido con Deliveroo y halloumi se perdió de orden y y las patatas fritas no estaban condimentadas y secas. Llamó al restaurante para hacerles saber y dijeron 'estamos ocupados' como una razón. ¿Tal vez no aceptes órdenes de entrega si estás demasiado ocupado para hacerles justicia? Un servicio deficiente como sus únicas 4 cosas en una bolsa y no hay excusa para las patatas fritas de mala calidad. Sentí que mi pedido no era importante para ellos, ya que era la entrega. Absolutamente nada de sal en papas fritas o romero. Patatas lisas y baratas mal cocinadas que no terminé. Pie estaba bien. No volveré a ordenar desde aquí.

Ordered from here with Deliveroo and halloumi was missed off order and and fries were unseasoned and dry. Rang restaurant to let them know and they said 'we are busy' as a reason. Poor service as its only 4 things in a bag and there's no excuse for poor quality fries. Felt like my order wasn't important as it was a delivery order, even though I'm spending money with them. Absolutly no salt on fries or rosemary. Plain, cheap badly cooked fries. Pie was ok.

Solid pie shop, but pricey. Decent look and atmosphere. Staff were friendly. Recommend as a one off, every now and then. Couldn't recommend as a regular occurrence.

Cold food on arrival -small portions

The pies are great, so as long as the reason for visiting is to have a pie and mash/chips, it's fine. Not a great deal of variety drinks wise, beer is a very limited choice. Always had a problem with the app in there, so don't expect to be able to accrue any loyalty points. Staff friendly, expect to pay around £18 -£20 for a pie and mash/chips and a drink.

Was hoping to have a nice pie... Didn't happen. Not worth the money. Didn't like the taste. Beef (cough cough)and Ale.... Won't be back. Drove 40 mins so very disappointed...

Been twice and been great both times. Hearty British pies for value. Tried the Kate and Sidney first time around and while the pie was nice, the gravy could have been more flavourful. Be careful as too much takes away from the pie itself. The second time, I went with the Feelin’ Gravy pie meal for the Deer and Beer. A delicious meal coming in at a cost effective price. If you enjoy pies, do drop in.

Tried here for lunch with work colleagues. Welcomed very nice by the waiter and placed at our table. The restaurant felt really cold inside and not comfortable enough to take our coats off. Pie was nice but served on top of cold mash. Very average.

Staff was nice. They were dealing with a leak so thy aren't to blame. It was decent.

Great pies!! I had the venison pie and was great. I was pleasantly surprised on how they came out as well. Pie and a beer. Simple, but effective at a reasonable cost.

If you want to eat some traditional British food, try something different every now and then. I like their homemade meat pies, including beef and kidney pies, chicken pies, beef pies, various snacks, and fried pork rinds with beer. Recommended if you want to have a light meal, this place is perfect for a small gathering.

Por una vez, me mimaron para elegir cuando miro el menú. Soy intolerante al gluten y a los lácteos y siempre es difícil encontrar algo para comer, pero este lugar era excelente. ¡Qué delicioso!

Apareció en un viernes por la noche sin reserva y fue sentado y atendido rápidamente. El servicio (Grant & Jack) era eficiente y amable. La comida era deliciosa y a un precio razonable. Los pasteles se llenaban, la salsa era genial. El vino de rosa era bueno. Coca-Cola de dieta adecuada (nada del borrador de basura). La olla de manzana fue increíble (aparentemente) - mi hijo no compartió conmigo. En general, una experiencia de comer feliz.

Even though it was a Saturday it wasn't too busy, the staff were super friendly and you get so much for your money

So the food was bang on apart from the mushroom calamari with was incredibly salty which interestingly was its only taste. The table we were sat on was gross it was that sticky I actually had to peal my forearm off the table. Jack brought our food over but in the time we waited not only did I not see him clean a table that people had left (it was quiet) I didn’t see him wash his hands at all before serving our food which is quite gross. There was no follow up service wise and he removed the service fee claiming it goes to management whilst he expected a tip himself. Quite an unusual experience, it’s clear training is needed to improve the general standard!

One of the pies we ordered was cold in the middle. This was quickly rectified.

Not a good review. Over an 1 hour to get Pie and Chips on a Sunday afternoon not really acceptable. Food ok when it finally arrived.

Horrendous is the only word that comes to mind. I ordered online from here and got it delivered so I appreciate it won’t be the same quality as sitting in however it also shouldn’t be as bad as it was. I got the moo and blue pie, mash, minty peas and extra gravy. The pie had more carrots than meat. The mash was a literal spoonful, the peas the same. Peas tasted ok, pie was average- needed more meat which is what you’re paying for, the mash… watery, tasteless and reminded me of school dinners. The gravy cost an extra £3 (I assume for one tub as I wasn’t sure if it came with a pot already) one tub didn’t even cover the miniature mash and peas never mind the pie. Truly feel robbed, still starving, not happy at all.

I really love the concept and the options/combinations available. The pies I've had all taste great and there is a nice variety, but the mash was like a rock. The staff are all friendly, attentive and it's a nice atmosphere inside so will definitely go again

First time visiting a Pieminister & I only wish I had more time to spend there. Got a lighter pie and side, but every bite was delicious. Our server Joseph knew the menu well and was brilliant at helping navigate the allergens for myself. Will definitely visit again and go for something heavier. 10/10 - which is something I rarely say.

I got the Moo pie and it was delicious, the pork scratchings went well with a beer too.

The pie here is really good and filling. And when I thought that I couldn’t enjoy eating anything anymore as I was so full, the sticky toffee pudding really hit me hard as it was so comforting. It was warm and moist but then blended well with the vanilla ice cream. Top tier.

We are never disappointed at Pieminiter, the value for money is excellent! I didn't really like the mint mashy peas though, too sweet for my taste, I'll have the plain peas next time. If you like kidneys, get the Kate and Sidney!

Came here for food before heading out to a gig and wasn’t disappointed. There was a lot choice available with the different varieties of pie and staff were really friendly inside. Will defo be looking to go back.

The restaurant is nice and modern but I was a bit disappointed with the pie. I ordered the beef pie with red wine gravy and I thought it was really quite bland. They also put the pie on top of the mash which is a bit inconvenient as your scraping around trying to find the mash. The honey mustard cocktail sausages were also rather bland. We could taste the honey but not really the mustard. Lastly we arrived approximately 6pm and they had run out of the Sunday dinner option? Which was the main reason we went. The pork cracking was lovely and the staff who served us were really nice and polite. I would try here again but a different pie.

I'm not usually a pie person. But I really enjoyed the meal. It was a chicken one. We went for my Dad's birthday and he enjoyed it too. Definitely recommend and will probably go again.

Booked for the Saturday Brunch, loved it. Pie was superb, as much gravy as you like and drinks included. Had a few draught pints and a couple of cocktails in our 2 hour sitting to get the value for money. Our ‘host’ Jack was polite and very helpful with his recommendations to help us choose. I too can now advise the chicken and leek with cheese mash… hell yessssss. Will 100% return, though we are not local we travel up for the Owls and will make it back without doubt

We’d just arrived from Brum for a couple of days in Sheffield and was given a warm and friendly welcome from Paddy who looked after us well. The food was excellent. A very enjoyable visit. Big THANKS.

We came here for bottomless brunch before a Liam Gallagher gig and I'd say it's one of the best Bottomless Brunches we've been to! They came and took our order straight away and both the food and drinks were quick to arrive but great quality too. I've been to a few brunches where the cocktails aren't great or they take ages to slow down your drinking but this was fantastic. Before we'd even finished the first drink our server came over and said "Can I get you guys a top up?", we had 7 drinks EACH in 2 hours. The atmosphere was great, even though the drinks flow quickly it wasn't your usual 'Hen Doo/Stag Doo being sick in the ice bucket' type of brunch place! Lots of couples and mates just having great food and a good time. The pie and mash was incredible, would definitely come back!

i ordered the mother's hip special which was supposed to be a pie ,mash& mini roast potatoes Carrots and swede mash with gravy . The pies were nice however there were no Carrots, roast potatoes or Swede included in the order . very very disappointing for £14.50 each . I feel totally ripped off and will not be ordering from here again.

Colleagues from the local office took us there, pies in many variations. Every once in a while I try these pies just to rediscover I don't like them. Pastry might be practical packaging, but not tasty, for me at least. But the overall experience was fine, guess the same ingredients could make tastier food, most of the food apart from pastry is actually good.

My daughter booked myself, my wife and both daughters in at Pieminster for a late birthday meal, the food and service was outstanding 9/10 it just could have done with a little light music on in the background, just to create a bit of atmosphere but the main thing was the meal which was excellent. I would 100% recommend 👌 👍

Waited ages for our food, Table next to us their order taken first even though our table had been seated before them. Just two members of staff running the place, just one serving customers and the other making the food Customers being turned away even though tables were still available. The pie was great, the peas from the bottom of the pan. Whoever runs this place needs to be aware that having one person serving especially when there's a concert on at the city hall is not on at all.....and they have an anti- slavery policy!!!! First time but sadly the last as the service was atrocious.

Thought I would give this place a try and had a delivery, not impressed at all got wrong pie and sides were despicable, not worth the money when u can buy the pie for £5.

Pies are okay and the mash is not bad but the 'crispy onions' were so stale it spoilt everything. Every mouthful was unpleasantly chewy. When we pointed it out they gave us the bill and still charged for the awful 'crispy onions'. I am sure this isn't the case every time but it's a shame they don't pay attention to the details. If they hadn't charged us for the stale onions we probably would have tried it again but as they couldn't really care less we will give it a miss in future.

Visited this restaurant for the first time, while in Sheffield. The pies were delicious with chips, cheese and crispy onions. Gorgeous. Would highly recommend a visit if you love pie.

My three friends and I recently visited Pie Minster for their new bottomless brunch. We were celebrating a 21st birthday and were welcomed with warmth and attentiveness. From the offset, staff were taking our drinks orders as we sat, and our food (which was generous and yummy) arrived quickly. The service was amazing, we were never with an empty glass. The martinis were to die for, and the bartenders were tirelessly shaking away to make the best hand made martinis we’d ever had. A special shout out to Jack and Jahan for being such great waiters, and making sure we were well taken care of. We would highly recommend this bottomless brunch - it is so hearty and great value for money. We had a lovely experience - Pie Minster rocked bottomless brunch on only their second session!

Nice place. We were there on a Wednesday night, there were almost no people, there was no loud music. I can't eat dairy and gluten and I found a cake for me! And it was delicious! I liked. We had a good time with our friends. It's especially cool that they work until 10:00 p.m.

Always a pleasure to eat here on an afternoon. A great relaxed atmosphere never a rush to get you out the door like some places who are at your table the second you have finished eating. Can’t recommend pie minster hard enough for a relaxing meal. If it’s a lone diner or a couple families with kids from toddlers to teens

We went for bottomless brunch on the first day they began offering it and it was 11/10. The staff were amazing, can’t fault them. They brought drinks constantly and were so professional and friendly. We could have had so much more to drink if we wanted! The food was also SO good. Will definitely recommend this place! What a gem!

Great pies! Great staff! Super friendly and inviting. Paddy managed to find us a table when they were busy and cracked a few jokes with us along the way. All the servers were friendly and although they were busy, they were really attentive and accommodating. Food was hot and tasty! Would definitely visit again!

Two of us went here on a Friday night, we were a little late in to Sheffield for a show at the city hall and with a little over an hour to spare before the show started at 8 we didn't think we would have time to get food from a bar or restaurant and we fancied sit down so we figured the pie shop would be a reasonably quick solution. Anyway to cut a long story short it took 40 minutes to come out. One pie mash and one pie n chips both with peas. The pies were decent and so they should be being a pie shop, and maybe it's a northern thing but the gravy was terrible so wishy washy, no body, subtle flavour at best and the consistency of water the polar opposite to a rich thick and tasty gravy I was expecting, thank the lord they had Henderson's relish. Possibly I was expecting too much that the pies would not take long to come out and we're in fact being prepared fresh in the kitchen but the gravy was inexcusable. It should, in my opinion be as tasty as the pie. Sorry but it's a -1 out of 5 for the gravy from me, hopefully this was a one off, something I can't confirm as I haven't been back. The pie was tasty enough.

Great food for a quick lunch, pie fillings are lovely as was the mash, the onion rings were a little on the greasy side and the pie pastry could be better but still very enjoyable and prices pretty reasonable.

Absolutely loved it here! The decoration is so cool and the food is fantastic! I cannot wait to come back!

Great pie. Could have done with a little bigger portion and apparently the GF pastry is better than standard which is pretty damn delicious. Overall would definitely recommend

This place is magnificent!! One of the best pies I’ve ever eaten, amazing portion and the atmosphere is amazing. Our waiter was Jack and he was lovely, so attentive and friendly he made the experience so much fun. The salted caramel oatshake is a must, u have to try this ;))

This is a great spot. We were able to get a table easy enough and there was a good choice of pies! Staff were friendly, Jack made sure that we had plenty of gravy throughout! Would certainly return... what more does a girl need... Good company and a pie, chips and gravy!!

Updated review: We have been to pie minster about 4 times and it keeps getting worse. The wait time has been about 45mins to over an hour each time which is barbaric for a pie! Staff are rude and gravy servings are non existent. Don’t bother going here for a quick lunch. Pies are good but it would have been quicker to drive to Asda, buy a pie and cook it in my oven at home. We won’t be going here again, rubbish. 11/02/24.
