The Prince of Bengal - POB in Watford

Fantastic food!! Would recommend for anyone looking for authentic Indian food. They changed menu to suit our palate, which was very much appreciated. Will definitely visit again when I’m in Watford.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised by the service I received, the food was on time and delicious, I hadn’t ordered any carbs as I am dieting, but the restaurant kindly added a box of fragrant rice and a naan bread out of concern. Honestly very sweet and generous gesture. Would recommend to anyone. :)

Once a reputable restaurant, I ordered over £50 worth of food, there were items missing from the delivery. When I called the restaurant they agreed to send the missing items but it took an hour and the meal was ruined by then.

We had a wonderful time at this restaurant tonight. The food was prepared exactly the way we wanted and they were so tasteful. The service of the waitresses was absolutely warm, cordial and wonderful. We often get takeout from this restaurant and overall very satisfied 👍👍👍

We booked a table with friends for an evening meal, we brought our own drink because we knew there is no license, what we didn’t anticipate was that we needed a gas stove and thermals too. When we arrived we found only one other table occupied- think this is mainly a take away. The waiter tried to get us sitting right by the door - but conceded to a potentially warmed positioned table - only problem was there was no heating on. So coats had to stay on… After 15 mins they moved us to a table near a gas heater which was better but still cold- food wasn’t great - curry came out cold and had to go back, naan was very poor. Flavours of curries were actually good once heated - would suggest use this place as a takeaway - there were a steady stream of people doing that- it’s not a great place to eat in.

I notice the good reviews are quite old so assume that the restaurant has changed hands We were the only people in the restaurant for the whole time we were there and I can honestly say as someone who dines out frequently I have never come across such a rude unfriendly server The £25 Groupon voucher was for two starters two mains and two glasses of wine There were no starters for the specified price so had to pay a supplement we also had to pay extra for rice and bread.... we didn't order sides. However having added these to the cost of the voucher we could have paid less and felt far more welcome at a number of other Indian restaurants in the area serving excellent food My samosa tasted like it had come from Iceland's freezer. The lamb was dry and appeared to have been cooked some time ago and was served lukewarm in a lukewarm sauce The lack of any other diners surely speaks for itself

Love this food, not many people do Lassi and Kulfi, these are the little things that make a meal special.

Had friends over for a meal wanted to enjoy a really good curry and had heard about this restaurant…..what a huge huge disappointment £75 order online (their website) at 6.13pm with estimate of 45 mins for delivery, thought this was a little optimistic but through yeah about hour, had not received an email confirmation so rang them at 7pm to ensure order had gone through to be told it was on its way. 7.34pm called again and was told they would ring me back definitely on way, no call back so rang at 7.51pm still not here and told 15 mins, we rang yet again at 8.15pm as still no meals two hours after ordering to say that we were not interested in waiting and wanted to cancel order and we absolutely guaranteed that would be here in next 10 mins with free bottle of wine - were not interested in the wine we just wanted to feed our guests At 8.40 my husband rang to say we definitely wanted to cancel and at that point the doorbell rang which was a great shame as what arrived that we paid for was obviously something they had thrown in a container to send out, we had 15 popodams which we had not ordered and didn’t want, we were missing rice and the two mixed vegetables starters were cold and appeared like they were from last night. The mains were not any better the only meal that was acceptable was the chicken Ceylon This was a huge disappointment and a real shame as we wanted to have a lovely meal with friends

The food was lovely, The Lassi, well, not many places serve this, which is a mistake, because iy=t adds to the meal. The kulfi in the little container was delightful, i'll keep the container safe and when I order again I will return it. My big mistake was not ordering things like Mint sauce, and the little dishes that add to the meal, wont forget next time. The driver thought he was late, problems on the motorway. I don't consider 1 minute past the time as late especially under the circumstance. If you want a great meal, beautifully cooked, delivered by a very pleasant gentleman, on time, this is the place to go. I suspect the restaurant must be superb going on the quality of te Take-away. Thank you guys ,made my evening.

Three of us had a meal on a Thursday evening. We were the only eat in customers, but we were there just past 6! We had a mix of starters, sides and mains all served at once. The meal was lovely. Possibly less hot than when we were regulars a few years ago, but subtlety spiced, piping hot, lots of paneer in the paneer dish, really garlicky Nan. Every dish was great. Very highly recommended. Great service. Service charge included on the bill and a useful split total too in case we were splitting the bill. We will go back to making this our regular after a Covid absence.

Amazing quality food. Not enough JustEat drivers caused time delays. Also app had advised restaurant I had cancelled my order. At same time app showed my food as being delivered already.

The food was excellent but having been given an eta of 19.35 - 19.55 actually receiving the order at 21.00hrs was extremely disappointing. We were thankful we didn't have guests waiting to eat with us. Perhaps the restaurant should decline orders if they know they will be unable to fulfill them in time. The lateness was just because the restaurant as busy and every effort was made to arrive on time so I didn't mind at all. The food is always packed nicely and the quality is superb. Also, the owner always takes pride and treats every customer like a King, so I would never go anywhere else. Fantastic service consistently.

The Papadoms were stale the Tandoori Lamb Chops had little meat mainly fat, the Tarks Dahl was very, very oily and the Biryani tasteless. £30 including tip wasted, should have donated the money to charity. NEVER AGAIN will I order food from this place.

I would give you 0 if I could. The system tells me the food is on its way at 18:15 hrs, you have marked as delivered at 18:55 hrs, it is 19:05 hrs now and I still have not received my order! I contacted the restaurant and whomever I spoke told me there many other orders, so one driver is doing all. When challenged him why marked as delivered when I haven’t received my order, he said it was a mistake. And I am still waiting …

Very friendly delivery guy that obviously worked in the restaurant (maybe the owner?) who gave us extra stuff like sweets and poppadoms. Food was amazing quality. Very hot and big portions. I'd Forgotten how good the Prince of Bengal was. Thoroughly recommended.

I asked for the food to be delivered at 1930, it arrived at around 1840. I was disappointed that it arrived so early as I had picked 1930 for a reason. The food quality is absolutely top quality though, I have ordered from here a few times and am never disappointed with the quality. 5/5 stars for quality, I will continue to use this restaurant.

Food was delivered 90 minutes early (Same thing happened in the summer when we used this restaurant). Second selivery was on time but judging by the state of the food it was the same delivery kept warm for 90 minutes. Onion Bhajis were like cannonballs. Never again.

The Main course was poor quality, the chicken was thrown into a preprepared sauce rather than a slow cooked meal, this was not edible. The Samosa was small but flavoursome and the Onion Bhaji was ok. The plain Nan was ok but over complicated with a mild spice flavour which isn't needed when eaten with a good sauce. I was left a 20% Card which I will not be using.. All in all I wouldn't order from POB..

I was really looking forward to a wonderful, tasty curry, but I’m sad to say it wasn’t meant to be. Unfortunately the naan bread was something of an odd yellow colour and looked, felt and tasted like something out of a packet, as did the chapati. The lentils in the dhansak were hard instead of the soft, broken down creamy texture you’d expect. It was also lacking the wonderful sweet and sour taste of a dhansak. Altogether, I found the food completely unenjoyable and the entire meal ended up in the bin leaving me hungry.

Average food. Poor service as they don’t take any notice of the note you put with the order when you order it. They left mine in the hotel reception and after two phone calls to them they told me it is in reception. Thanks for a stone cold meal, woefully late👍

Very generous portions , lovely onion Bhajis and King prawn purée , the rest of the meal was nothing special , curry sauce too thin like gravy , but plenty of chicken , Biryani a very large portion . Enjoyed the mint chocs afterwards .

This restaurant is no doubt one of the finest place in the area. Anytime I come there I am very pleased. They keep their very high level service and the topmost level of cooking they give. You surely will enjoy this this place. Warmly recommended.

Apart from our meat samoas being vegetable, despite the fact that the ticket that came with the order also stating meat samosas, the onion bhajees being overcooked and bitter, a lack of meat in the biryani and the tikka masala sauce being a bit watery, the meal was ok.

Food was delivered quickly by a polite person who adhered to social distancing measures. Food was hot and very good.
