Have been here several times over the years & honestly Karim & his team are fantastic, nothing too much trouble.. Small groups & larger (tables of 20) can be accommodated with notice & even kids meals for those who maybe fussy eaters or have dietary needs.. A gem of a place..

Right I'm a bit of a connoisseur with my curry I use a few curry places round watford and bushey ....this place beats them all the buhna was off the charts service from babs quality and very good price aswell will definitely recommend

Absolutely disgusted. I brought my mother to this place due to there affiliation with vibe radio station since they are always advertising through them. We ordered our mains as well as a side of poppadoms with the sauces and when we had finished and our table was in the process of being cleaned and removing the sauces from our table the Gentleman on the table near to us was given the mint sauce that I was using. I immediately pulled the waiter aside and said that was disgusting what he just done, I also notified the table he gave it to who had just used the sauce I had been using. The owner came over and had a go at me stating his staff would never do this, even when another table stated he just witnessed exactly what I had said.

Always amazing, our go-to takeaway now! Reliable, tastes amazing and great prices. Always recommend them to friends, A++

The food was not that great and I ask for lamb curry and than ended up with very dark and hard meat and the owner slipped up and said it was goat meat , because I thought it was beef , they are using goat meat and saying it is lamb , and I still have to pay for the meal deal with got and they still charge me separate for the starter main and side when it is meant to come together .

If you want/need a good old fashion curry, this is the best place in Watford, NW London. Huge range of dishes and they all taste different, as they should. The staff are also amazing and will look after your every need, including off menu items. 10/10

By far the best curry house in Watford. You won't get a better selection or quality of food from any other Indian. Would highly recommend. The banquet deal also gives you a chance to try across the menu.

This place never fails to deliver great quality food. In all our family opinion so much nicer than the restaurant next door. Rather than walking by give it a try you won't be disappointed.

The food arrived early and was absolutely delicious. The delivery man was super friendly, too. I will definitely be ordering from Shapla again, I can certainly see why it has been around and popular for as long as it has.

Quality is alright but some dishes are so very sweet, food is unedible, don’t order creamy dishes! My korma was simply drenched with sugar. Reconsider before ordering here!

If you have choices - and you probably do - you should probably consider them before eating here. Out of the three dishes we ordered, one was good, one was a way too sweet Tikka Massala dish and the third was even sweeter with dry, overcooked chicken. Plus points: Wheelchair accessible, reasonable prices, nearby parking.

Had the meal deal and I think I was over charged had 1 bottle of wine meal deal and it came to 83.00 a bit much 😞

The Dining started off fine until I spotted something unbelievable... This was heavy in COVID19 times where restaurants were opening back up after our second lockdown and I had taken my mother out for a birthday meal and whilst I was eating a poppadom dipping this into a mint sauce of which I put this aside once finished the waiter came to remove dirty plates before mains when a table beside us asked for more mint sauce and out of shock he took what we had on our table and gave it straight to them, I was gobsmacked and shocked that I felt I must be mistaken. The family started using the mint sauce as a dip, I checked his trolley to discover the mint sauce was gone that he just removed from my table. I told them what he had just done. I brought this up to the owner and kicked off with him and I was asked to leave after paying for what I had already eaten. Of course the family refused to pay at this point as I should have done also. And whenever I hear their adverts on Watfords 107.6 Vibe FM I cringe at the memory and always have to silence my car radio at the realisation its another ""NEW"" Shapla Tandoori advert.

Every other time I order, there’s a problem. Something missing or incorrect. To be fair they do fix problems quickly. But please check your orders properly before they leave the restaurant. Very frustrating as otherwise it’s good.

Disgusting biriyani with HALF EGG cheap quality

Ordered because it promised 15-30 mins. When processed it said an hour then we got a delayed message so 75 mins . poor packaging meant one had leaked. Tasted good

Just Eat app said 1 hour delivery time which is normal for a Saturday night. The app then said food was on its way within the delivery time, but once the delivery time had passed the app said delivered, but no food had arrived. We waited a further half hour (so an hour and a half since ordering) before calling the restaurant who said they hadn't made the order yet and it would be at least another half hour. We eventually got our food after a 2.5 hour wait. Not sure why the restaurant logged the order as on its way or delivered before it had been made, but it's not good for business and seemed like the food had been out for delivery for a long time as was cold.

Spoke to the store twice, both people were very very rude to me and one admitted he didn’t care about his customers and told me I was wasting his time Food turned up over 2 hours after I ordered it. Stone cold as you’d imagine, we reheated it and it was impossible to cut and eat. Wasn’t edible and not worth over £50 of my hard earned money, All went in the bin a waste of money and. Waste of my evening. AVOID GUYS

I order extra mint sauce because it’s hot and you forgot it and even the one that comes with my starter missing papadam and a tomato chilli chutney too that’s bad

We visited the New Shapla on 23rd December 2022. We enjoy Indian food and have eaten it in many countries including India. We had the Gourmet menu, starter, main, rice, side and coffee at a cost of £19.95. My starter was a mixed starter consisting of onion bajee, chicken tikka, lamb tikka. My husband chose tandoori fish. Both were large portions and delicious. Our mains were equally good along with our side dishes. I have no hesitation in giving this restaurant 5* . The food was excellent, the staff friendly and the Manager went out of his way to welcome us and to ensure we had an enjoyable evening.

Great food however was a hour later than planned - got it at 22:30, driver did apologise for being late but no reason given.

Order from here all the time, normally very nice. The food was terrible tonight, chicken was so over cooked it was burnt! And the taste of the chicken curry we ordered was fowl. Definitely put us off ordering from here again. Would NOT recommend, extremely disappointing for £50!!!

I've said this before but we’ve never, ever been disappointed eating at the New Shapla and the owner, Karim, always comes over to have a chat and to ensure everything is in order. As usual the restaurant is well furnished and comfortable. Everything is always crisp and clean as are the toilet facilities. The menu choice is great and Babs, the head waiter, always seems to know what fabulous dishes we like best. It’s a great restaurant and we’ll definitely keep coming back. Thanks Karim and Babs.

Amazing food and delivery time

A friend and I wanted to catch up and he recommended this restaurant. We arrived and discovered that the meal deal (Starter, main, side, with rice or naan) was still available and we went with that. Not particularly adventurous; kebab starter, lady fingers and dopiaza. The meal came promptly, well cooked and hot. The staff were attentive. What I did like was that the food was not loaded with salt. So could taste the spices. Very happy and a good price too.

Mixed tandoori was ok, despite being bit expensive for the amount given. Special Mixed biryani sorry to say the worst I have eaten… no salt, no taste,….not happy about paying £2.5 for small glass of coke, filled from a 2l bottle with no gas. Sorry to say that we won’t go again.

Although late, we were kept informed, food excellent as always, we love the food and service at Sharla, both delivery and eat in, staff are helpful, friendly and professional, our go to I Dian Restaurant

Did not read the delivery instructions - but driver was friendly, polite and patient. Food was very oily, meat was dry and hard to chew (not good for Biriyani) - will probably order again in future and hope it’s better next time.

Chicken Tandoori had only Two Legs pieces for £8.95 whereas it should have a whole chicken, Phal was just full of chilly, no flavour, biryani was just bland and not at all worth £11.95. Very disappointing. Tried for the first time to try not at all worth it. Can get much better takeout and worth for money in Watford. Review: Please don't order.

Very poor food quality and small portions

Delivered on time, very tasty, this was the first time I have ordered with Shapla but will be ordering again. If I was being really picky it would be great if the keema rice could be made a bit bigger when its £6.95. Great though, if you haven't tried, make sure you do, top hygiene rating too.
