Saffron in Watford

I wish I could give this restaurant no stars DO NOT GO THERE AT ALL. Everything about this restaurant was bad the food service atmosphere. We decided to order 2 starters and because the food was so bad we decided to leave and go somewhere else however when we tried paying the bill they were rude and screaming at us because we didn’t order more food. They refused to give us the bill and when we tried paying the guy made up a number for us to pay. We got screamed at by them the food was disgusting so I would suggest you do not go there and go where you can get your moneys worth because this place is not it. Furthermore the whole time we were there they made us feel very uncomfortable by looking at us weirdly and secondly by forcing us to order food we are customers so it’s our choice what we want to eat. This place needs to be shut down!!!!!!!!

Great place, convenient if you come from the Harry Potter Warner Bros studios, welcoming and friendly staff, delicious food.

We came after a trip to the Warner Bros studio tour, and were ravenous over 4 hours of walking. Fortunately this place is very nearby, and the food was absolutely delicious. Big thumbs up for the lamb biryani, which is so moist you don't even need a vegetable curry with it (though we did order a tarka dhal, which was lovely). Everything was beautifully spiced without blowing your mouth out. Will definitely come back if we do the Harry Potter tour again. Highly recommend!

Over priced below average food with naan and roti undercooked. Chicken was not cleaned properly and had fat in pieces.

Horrible food, had to throw all of it in the bin. It smelled bad, seemed to have been cooked before and then microwaved.

I found this place on Google, the other positive reviews aren't lying! I had a takeout with my girlfriend, they made it quickly and called me when it was ready, friendly and polite. There was lots of food, even a couple of extra sauces for the poppadoms. The food was very good, my girlfriend liked the veg korma so much that she made me write this review! 10/10, would return

These guys are THIEVES!! The get stock from their suppliers and rip them off for 10s of thousands of pounds. Jilu and the other owner are complete cowards and CONS. Stay well clear

I came with yesterday and was the only people there and despite this the service was truly top tier. I felt comfortable and very attended to. The server wearing glasses was very nice friendly and funny. I would recommend going just to experience his company.

Came here when it first opened and I think it specialised in Southern Indian cuisine. It’s menu is now what I suppose is standard British Indian cuisine but it was bloody lovely. The best curry I’ve had in Watford in a long time.

Took ages for delivery, items missing and food was cold, tasteless with the onion bhajis going in the bin as over cooked.

Could not recommend this place enough! I’m quite fussy about Indian food and this place ticked all the boxes. The service was lovely and the food was superb. It was a really relaxed atmosphere, the waiter/owner was so kind. If I’m ever back in Watford I’ll certainly be coming here again !

We visited after spending the day at the harry potter studio tours. The food was absolutely delicious, one of the best curries we've ever had. Jib, Sham and Abby were great, good company and made some great reccomendations. Really good value too. Thanks!

Food was stone cold curry was so dry no taste not a nice experience was looking forward to it as well Kema nann was ok very heavy and spicy couldn't see any of the mince in it like a normal one very dissatisfied food ended up mostly in bin

The food is amazing! The owner is very happy to accommodate all your needs (I have a nut allergy). He is very proud of his work and this is really shown in the quality of the food. Will be back

Thought to try a new Indian as this one was well reviewed. Food was stone cold on arrival, food was very bland and meh. The chicken was extremely rubbery in both meals and didn’t feel comfortable eating it after the first few bites. It was barely edible so wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t order again. Very surprised with the current reviews. Also lots of plastic instead of foil recyclables

Ordered a curry from here and it was completely tasteless. An actual curry with no flavour, its like a paradox. I was stunned. Had to season myself at home. Almost did a pcr test to make sure I hadn't lost my sense of taste from corona... Update after comment from restaurant: I know I joked when I mentioned corona, but the reality is I was hungry and ordered a curry, expecting it to taste like a curry i.e basic seasoning and flavour from spices, and it was so far detached to what I expect a curry to taste like, I had to write a review...

Came here for our evening meal and it was really nice, the server/ owner was really attentive and we had a good chat. The food was really nice and I would recommend to anyone who wants a good curry.

Amazing food cooked from scratch so possible to adjust the degree of spice. They were also happy to adapt dishes to make them dairy and gluten free .

I pop down to Watford to see my mum and friends, and never tire of coming in for a takeaway - and I've sat in to. The food is rounded and tasty - even the standard pilau rice just seems full of flavour. And the front of house is kind and good-humoured.

Awful. Food was cold. Sauces spilt all over the food and boxes.

Family evening meal, great food. The resturant was on the ball, realised one of us had order a biryani and extra rice. Held this back and got a portion of Balti to give sauce for the biryani. Great Service, well done Saffron top job 👍🏻

Really helpful and friendly staff, they accommodated a booking for 18 of us, the food was ordered efficiently and arrived at the same time so that no one was waiting! Very impressed, the food was great quality and it was an all round good experience. Thank you!

Spot on as usual. Fresh ingredients, arrived on time and hot. The salad that accompanied the onion Bhaji was a little questionable as super small, only lettuce and missing lemon. But overall the main meal was very nice.

Ordered 3 portions of vegetable samosas but restaurant provided one order with one vegetable and one meat. Poor considering we made it clear that 3 of 4 of us were vegetarian. Raised and owner was apologetic and reduced some money of bill but a poor experience as it shouldn't have happened.

The waiter managed to squeeze us in last minute of which we were very thankful. Food was fantastic and the service (of which he was on his own) was exceptional too. Well done and thank you for a lovely experience at your restaurant.

Great non spicy food quality. The chef did make some dishes that were not listed on the menu on our request which is not something you will get in restaurants of similar type. The food tasted fresh so would recommend trying this place. I only speak from the vegetarian and eggaterian selection as not a meat eater.

It's nice resto. Host was soo welcoming. We got complimentary Pani-puri🤤 which was scrumptious (one star extra for this). We had ordered paneer saag, mix veg curry, lamb curry (super spicy) , dal tarka amd plain rice. Veg dishes was delicious. Lamb curry was super dooper spicy 🔥. Garlic Naan was quite thick. Chilli Garlic Naan was tasting awesome with veg curries as those were less spicy. It would've been great of they had used less oil. Dal tarka had elaichi flavour to it which was super flop. Overall good restaurant👍

Tarka dal was horrific. Had to leave it and get more food elsewhere. Must’ve been frozen and reheated or something. How can an Indian restaurant get this basic staple so wrong? A new one on me. Tandoori paneer was also lacklustre. Shame as the manager was a nice fellow so posting this in the hope they sort it out.

We love Safron, both eat in or takeaway. The staff are friendly and attentive, the food quality high and portion sizes generous. The prices are also very reasonable.

I have eaten in the restaurant and have always been happy with the food so I thought we would order a take away...... Well the food was poor, pretty bland and the samosa's..... For £4.95 it was an absolute disgrace, 2 of the smallest samosa's I have ever seen in my life and they looked like they were pan fried and finished in the microwave, I will definitely not be eating from here again.

Best Curry I've had in Watford, been searching for 2 years for a good one, they do all the British Indian Restaurant classics plus a whole load of specials and more interesting authentic Indian dishes. Proper vibrant flavours, good sauce / meat / veg ratios, not swimming in a pool of curry like alot of places. Genuinely excited to work through the menu.

Looking at the good reviews on Google, I ordered food last night however, I was disappointed to say the least! I am not sure if there are paid reviews on Google (perhaps some or many not sure), but definitely food had no flavour, was full of oil (could see drenched in oil). Being and Indian, I have seen far better Indian restaruants in London and this one failed on many accounts. It could pass off as an 'just about ok if nothing else is an option' for those who do not know where to get good Indian food in the area..

We tried Saffron which is slightly further afield and were very impressed with the foods quality and flavours! We will definitely order again. We also like the fact they carry a 5 star food hygiene rating. Thank you for restoring our faith in Indian cuisine!

These guys are consistently VERY good I wish it was my local take away. I've been here a few times and always make sure I go if I'm nearby neither for dining in or takeaway. Staff really really friendly and chatty. Prices are very reasonable as well. The only thing I would improve on is the mixed grill I would love to have it presented on a sizzler tastes much better. Other than that keep up the great work.

Best pizza in town! Actually one of the best pizzas I've ever had.

I have eaten in Saffron for many years, this is the first take away from Saffron. The Madras was not spicy hot it was mild, the rice was hard at the bottom of the container and the Roti was burnt NOT GOOD AT ALL , shame

The food was no where close to Indian taste, veg curry ( was made with sweet potatoes which were 87% cooked) & chicken curry both tasted sweet - I will definitely never order from Saffron again 👍🏼
