I've been coming here for years, honestly one of the best thai places around. The atmosphere is great. It's a thai restaurant at the back of a pub. You can sit in the pub or garden for a mixture of the two or sit in the designated restaurant area. The staff are really accommodating with the food. They will make sure that something is Gluten Free, vegetarian or if you want something less spicy they will tone down the spice level. The food is also really tasty and reasonably priced.

There was once a time—now just a distant, foggy memory—when Prince Albert’s Thai Restaurant in Fulwell was a beacon of hope in a landscape otherwise dominated by fish and chip shops and chicken shops so greasy they make the Exxon Valdez look eco-friendly. It was a little jewel of exotic flavour in a sea of mediocrity, where the spring rolls were crispy, the noodles fragrant, and the service came with a smile instead of a scowl. That was, of course, *before the apocalypse*. It seems that sometime over the last decade, Prince Albert’s made the bold decision to abandon cooking, service, and the entire concept of hospitality altogether. What remains is the tragic shell of a restaurant that has clearly lost not only its soul but also its ability to operate anything even remotely resembling a kitchen. This place isn’t so much a restaurant anymore as it is a sort of performance art piece—a kind of culinary Dadaism where nothing makes sense and all you're left with is a gnawing sense of existential dread. Let’s start with the spring rolls, shall we? You know, those little parcels of golden-fried joy that are meant to be the gateway drug to the delights of Thai cuisine. Well, not here. What they present to you at Prince Albert’s are more like spring rolls’ long-lost, adopted cousins: soggy, flavourless cylinders of oil-soaked cardboard. Each bite is less an exploration of Thai flavour and more of a grim culinary endurance test. The filling? A mystery best left unsolved. At one point, I think I tasted something that could have been cabbage but then again, I could’ve just been hallucinating, begging for the slightest hint of taste to emerge from this deep-fried travesty. If grey had a flavour, it would be this spring roll. And for £7, I might as well have rolled up a tenner and eaten that instead—it would have been cheaper and probably more nutritious. Then, of course, there’s the service, which has transformed from friendly and welcoming to something akin to entering a hostile military checkpoint. The staff appear to be personally offended by your very existence, as if your mere presence in the restaurant is a profound inconvenience to their much more pressing task of standing around and doing absolutely nothing. If you’re lucky enough to catch a server's eye, it’s a bit like trying to hail down a disaffected teenager at a family gathering: a reluctant shuffle towards your table, followed by an expression that clearly says, “I would rather be anywhere but here, and ideally in a universe where I never have to interact with you.” Smiles? Not a chance. Recommendations? Don’t make me laugh. If you ask for one, you’ll be treated to a blank stare that somehow suggests both profound disdain and complete bewilderment. You’d have a better chance of getting dining tips from a rock. When I ordered the Pad Thai, the waitress looked at me as though I’d asked her to perform emergency dental surgery using chopsticks. She scribbled it down without even the courtesy of eye contact and shuffled back to the kitchen. When the dish eventually arrived, it looked—and tasted—like it had been prepared by someone who’d only ever heard about Pad Thai in passing, perhaps in a particularly uninspiring dream. The noodles were an unholy coagulation of stodge, tangled together in a sticky, gelatinous lump that I had to practically saw through with my fork. The shrimp, overcooked to the point of rubberiness, could have easily doubled as elastic bands in a pinch. The lime wedge on the side was so dried out it looked like it had been recovered from an ancient archaeological dig. The only thing “Thai” about it was the name on the menu. But here’s where things got truly special. Midway through the meal, I made the rookie mistake of asking for some extra chili. Apparently, this was an unforgivable transgression. The server returned with a small dish of dried red flakes that looked suspiciously like the kind you find in the back of a dusty cupboard when you move into a new house. She slammed it on the table with such force that I genuinely feared for the crockery. “Here,” she spat with the enthusiasm of someone delivering a court summons. At that point, I wasn’t even sure if it was chili or the desiccated remains of a previous customer who had dared to ask for extra spice. The grand finale of this farcical evening was the dessert. Against my better judgment, I ordered the deep-fried banana. It arrived encased in a batter so limp and unappetizing it looked like it had been wrapped in a wet towel before being half-heartedly dunked in oil. I’ve had more satisfying desserts at McDonald’s. The banana, for its part, had given up the will to live long before it ever hit the plate, its mushy remains offering about as much sweetness as a tax audit. But the real pièce de résistance came when the bill arrived, with a final flourish of rudeness. The waitress chucked it down on the table and huffed off without so much as a nod of thanks. And no, don’t expect that classic parting line of “Did you enjoy your meal?” They know you didn’t. Everyone in that building knows you didn’t. They know exactly what they’ve done, and they don’t care. In fact, I suspect they take a kind of perverse pleasure in your suffering. At least they got some enjoyment out of the evening. In conclusion, Prince Albert’s is no longer a restaurant in the traditional sense. It’s a monument to culinary incompetence and the death of customer service. Save yourself the trouble. Go home. Order a pizza. Or better yet, go to the park and forage for wild berries—you’ll have a far more authentic and delicious meal, and the squirrels will probably be more polite.

Had a wonderful evening with family from Australia. Food was exceptional as always. Overseas family said they had been wowed by the food. Only complaint was that a member of staff while serving us made a comment in front of a family member in Thai which they understood as they speak the language , and said that she was SO RUDE. They were very angry but as it was a family gathering they did not want to make a scene.

Thai pub food does not get better than the PA. Ok so I was there on a quiet Sunday but the food just zings. Went for the shared platter for 2 as a starter; wow it popped. Prawn toast that tasted of actual seafood! Spring rolls so crispy and oh so succulent chicken. I was boring & went for the green chicken curry with a shared bowl of coconut rice (you do not need one each). Great spice levels, homely and the sticky rice was fab. £35 for starter, main and a pint. I’d only ever been here boozing after rugby, too many years wasted not eating here! Oh, and the team looking after me were fab. Great service. For the food alone this is worth a visit any day.

Literally this pub serves the best Thai food ever!! Been coming here for years even after moving to Devon Their prices have gone way up but so has everything in life and to be honest the food is so worth it. The only complaint I have is we had booked an early table 5.15-7.15 We did not want to sit down and eat until 6 and I let them know we were just outside having a drink. The lady who I spoke to was very rude rolling her eyes saying we must sit down now .. (the place was absolutely empty) Then she sat us down in the worst seat ever .. right in the middle with no one else in the whole restaurant.. I asked to move to the side table and again got the look of annoyance and was told she would have to change the entire seating plan for the whole night if we moved to that table We did move anyway And was out the restaurant before anyone had come in still So that’s why I gave four stars .. customer service was bad but based on food 5 stars all the way!!!

The food is not that authentic, tried to order grapao rice but was told that the meat is not minced as is done in Thailand but sliced and they cannot do a fried egg on top as is also done in Thailand. The waitress said that the chefs do not have time to fry the egg during busy times which did not make send at all since it was not busy and surely frying a egg takes no longer than cooking any other dish.

2024 update Back this lunchtime and was looking forward to trying the Thai food once again. My friend and I both had the Chef's Special King Prawn panang and the prawns didn't taste fresh. I've had an upset stomach since. Food, it appears remains disappointing although the service and atmosphere were good. ----------------------------------------------------- Not as good as it used to be. Meagre on the portions and service was not particularly good. This was once my beloved regular so, disappointed.

Right. The food here is amazing. So fresh, full of flavour and delicious. The staff were fab. We wanted to take our time and have a relaxing Sunday afternoon meal. They let us order course by course rather than ordering everything at once. The cocktails too, were great. I had the house one and it was delicious. Unfortunately, some of the clientele let this place down. First, we had a table with an extended family behind us. They had obviously been in the pub a while and the children were getting bored and restless - which isn't the children's fault. They were running around the pub, almost colliding with waiting staff on several occasions. One child decided it would be fun to run at the back of the bench seat we were sitting on and crash into it. All the adults in the group did was to threaten to leave for about an hour. Finally they left, thank goodness! Then arrived a very loud, crass man who only seemed to be able to speak at shouting level. At no point did any of the staff or management speak to any of these customers, and considering we were in the 'restaurant' section of the pub, you would have thought they would want their diners to have a better experience. My advice would be, definitely order takeaway.

Thai food is supposed to be an explosion of flavours. Whilst I was really excited about this place, I left feeling underwhelmed. Satay chicken was bland, and the peanut sauce was refrigerator cold. Salt and pepper squid was 90% batter, 10% squid Sizzling tiger steak was ok, but absolutely nothing special and a bit under seasoned. Pad kra pow was not authentic - meat wasn’t minced, too saucy, no fried egg. Overall we left rating this a 6/10 at a push The food isn’t “bad” by any means, it’s just so far from the quality of many other Thai restaurants

Edit 21.03.2024 : I appreciate your time and response to my review. The restaurant was not busy when we visited. The extra charge was not waived, but that's is not an issue. I have never come across this additional charge before. Thank you for clarifying the pricing during rugby days. All the best. The behavior of the restaurant staff is extremely unpleasant and not professional as it used to. The staff lacked attentiveness when taking our order, and despite ordering two portions, we only received one. Additionally they charged an extra pound for each side order of chillies, which is completely unacceptable as i asked on thie side rather inside the dish. The chillies are included in the meal. Furthermore, previously when I requested mild spice levels, the food turned out to be excessively spicy.

We went here for a Valentine’s meal as we get Thai food every year. Since my partner has moved to London, we asked for recommendations for somewhere new. The food did not disappoint, the vegan pad thai was delicious and spot on – not to mention the fact it was brought to our table in no time at all. What let down my overall experience was the fact I had clearly asked – and pointed to on the menu – for a non-alcoholic cider. My order was also spoken back to me. After I finished my meal, I had this odd feeling to check the bottle and, to my dismay, saw it was the alcoholic version. I hadn’t drank alcohol in 6 months as I can’t on my medication so this was incredibly disappointing and ruined the night for me. Hopefully this mistake will mean they’ll check in the future.

We were there to have Thai food which was very nice. The bar lady was friendly and the restaurant staff were helpful with the vegetarian choices. Pity that the curries are all made with fish sauce. My pad Thai was very nice and not oily at all. The crispy rolls as startes were also nice and again, not oily at all. I will come back and I would recommend it. We went on Sunday afternoon which was not busy but I guess it is best to book. We had to vacate our table as it was apparently booked for another guest even when the place was empty. This is why I gave 4 starts as we felt that they wanted to get rid of us at the end. We spent £25 for main courses, 2 pints, starter and 2 teas.

This is a lovely pub with brilliantly trained staff. The problem it has is that it seems to be the preferred pub for the local coke head loud mouth dickhe@ds. You don't want to see large groups of lads marching on mass to the gents for their next snort of marching powder and then when you walk in see them all scuttle off into the single cubicle for a snort. There are families with kids having meals in the restaurant. This pub needs to decide whether it's a family pub or the sink pub for those whose behaviour wouldn't be tolerated in any of the near alternatives. It can't be both.

Booked a table in the garden and got told to sit anywhere (there was only one table right at the back available and nothing reserved for us even though there were other signs on tables) No table service so you have to order in the restaurant. Asked if we wanted starters and mains together as if we didn’t there would be a very long wait. There appears to be a focus on getting as many people through the door as possible, felt like a cattle market. Never felt like this here before but there was no customer service. Ordered drinks from the table online which is fine. staff looked run off their feet and generally fed up. Food was still good

5/5 Came right off a looooong flight, exhausted and a bit hesitant there would be a long wait but while the pub was packed, the restaurant area was still spacious and we were seated right away. Extremely kind and attentive staff consistently throughout our dine in. We ordered chicken wings, crispy rolls, chicken Pad Thai, Pad Agra Prao with beef, sticky rice and two beers. EVERYTHING was a hit in their own right. The service was quick with hot food and we couldn’t be more satisfied unless they gave us the food for free 😅 Seriously, if this place isn’t on your list of joints to visit while in London then add it!

Although the coffee is amazing, the customer service from the gentleman behind the counter was not welcoming - there was no smile, or any friendliness whatsoever. I actually felt like I was intruding. For nearly £4 for a coffee, you would expect a friendlier atmosphere. A shame. I don’t want to return after that experience.

We recently had our wedding at Pembroke Lodge, and I cannot say enough good things about the venue manager, Robert. From the moment we started planning to the big day itself, he was absolutely incredible. Robert went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. He was always available to answer our questions, offer solutions, and provide creative suggestions that enhanced our vision. He coordinated effortlessly with our vendors, making sure everyone was on the same page, which took so much stress off our shoulders. On the day of the wedding, he was a true rockstar! He made sure the timeline flowed perfectly, from setting up the ceremony space to ensuring the reception transitions were seamless. His dedication and hands-on approach allowed us to enjoy every moment without worrying about a single thing. Our wedding was a dream come true, and we owe so much of that to him and his team! Thank you, for everything you did to make our day magical.

An easy easy 5 star from me. This is mainly down to the food itself. The quality and freshness shines through. The seating area is nothing special but you do forget about that when you start eating. Really is amazing amazing food and my fave bakery in London. If you haven’t been….you’re missing out!!

The pub is much the same as most pubs these days. No longer has food for sale.
