2nd and last time, seagulls enjoyed my chips, never again. how can you make a chip so horrible. please dont even try this place.

Had our first delivery this evening, bit nervous as we’ve never used a service like this for fish & chips... and because our favourite chippy doesn’t deliver! Did not disappoint, bang on the time quoted and lovely hot food. Not greasy, all wrapped in paper (no sweaty plastic bag), chips not under done (pet hate) batter not too thick (but not too thin), fish chunky flakes and delicious. Apparently the husbands C&M pie was spot on too (it’s not about him). Will definitely order again, scoffed before I thought to take a pic, sorry! :-)

First time we used their delivery service. Placed order over the phone and was informed it would be 45 minutes for delivery. Exactly 45 minutes later my order was delivered nice and hot. The fish and chips were great.

Bought myself and my elderly parents a very nice fish and chip meal. Pleasant staff and the portions were good. It's in a great position, easy access. Very good prices and variety. Well worth a visit.

Our take away from Preston Fryer was not nice this evening we had to chuck most of it in bin. Cod batter was gross and soggy also had bones in , chips were disgusting proberly yesterday’s warmed up . Pie was cold and pastry was hard . The whole meal was yuck . Won’t be visiting again

Bowling club used them again for 35 suppers . Said he would deliver @ 8pm Arrived bang on time , food was hot and we only had a few negative comments about the chips . All the others enjoyed their food . Very likely we would use them again for the club . A few of our members are regulars there anyway .

Terrible service and gross food. Made me sick. Ordered gluten free and was given gluten. Rude server who wouldn’t tell us when food would be ready. Will never go back. Avoid at all cost!

Credit where credit is due. Bowls club social event. My take away order was for 34 fish and chip suppers Pre ordered & paid for to be delivered 8.15pm. Arrived on time. Was very tasty and was delivered HOT. Thoroughly enjoyed by all. Also a big thanks to delivery lads Polite & Friendly.

It was a manky chicken burger chopped up and chucked in in fact it looked like someone had thrown up in th wrap will be trying again tonight to ring them to ask why this happened

Having made it to this place as past here a few times thought I'd give it a go, even though reviews look bad, now I know why, I noticed a bad over burnt oil smell coming from the side of the chip shop, over used chip oil, as I found out as not only made to wait 25 mins for chips and curry sauce but rudeness of staff. I hasten to add the curry sauce couldn't hide the bad tasting chips, WONT BE USING THEM AGAIN, STEER CLEAR!! Not changing cooking oil is the sign of a bad chip shop, cheap skate.

I am not going to slate this place to much as I've been a customer from day one and I really like their food, but my last order wasn't upto the usual standard the cod was small and the chips were undercooked :( sad times, even with this I will order again and we enjoyed the fish at least. Please don't go down hill.

Unfortunately we had a great experience a few nights before food was delicious this was when we actually attended the fish shop ourselves, however ordered through just eat- our order was wrong, food was barely lukewarm and it arrived 1 hour and 20 minutes too early we had arranged for friends to come over- delivery driver said its one of those things and just eat were just sorry we had a bad experience... really disappointed

Fantastic food and fantastic staff. The batter is to die for -and I don't usually like batter.!! It is often very busy but it's well worth waiting.

Food was evidently freshly cooked; delivery was on time with a lovely polite lady delivering it! The food was fab, order completely correct; what shocked me was the burger actually looked and tasted AMAZING (as did all the food) will Defo order from here again.

I have used nearly every fish and chips shops in Paignton having lived here all my life and must say have been finding it hard to find a good one lately. The Preston fryer was recommended to me and decided to order from them. Well I was very impressed. Called to place an order and they were very friendly adv time for delivery and I am so impressed by the food. We had cod & chip, hotdog, sausages and some cod bites. The batter was perfect and everything nice and hot. So glad we have finally found somewhere we can use all the time and not have to worry anymore. I don't usually leave a long review but, felt it was well deserved. Keep up the good service and food.

Last Saturday's meal was blip due to a few different reasons. Tonight's meal was proof The Preston Fryer is still the best local fish & chip shop. Fantastic.

We have ordered fish and chips from the Preston fryer a few times and each time it gets worse so now have given up. My mum had fish underdone twice , we told them but makes no difference , customer service is non existent , feel sorry for the staff who work there . Management a joke . Will not go there again .

Cod totally overcooked, chip were overcooked and horrible, sorry but this isn't acceptable i won't order from you again. Not good, how the chef thought this was good enough to send out is beyond me! We have always had a problem with overcooked food, but today has taken the mick, we will go elsewhere now.

Food arrived early which is always good. However ordered extra salt and vinegar on the chips but there was none at all, and paid for extra cheese on the chicken burger yet again there was none at all. But food was hot and all other parts of the order was spot on, just a shame about the little details that were missed.

After a bad experience a few weeks ago I took The Preston Fryer up on their offer of the order being repeated for free as an appology, and they didn't dissapoint. Everything was much better, food was a good temp, the fish was LOVELLY, the burger and bun were equal sizes and it was all delivered in a reasonable time. A much better experience, on this I will happily try ordering from them again in the future and will put that last experience down to them having a very bad day.

Over an hour and fourth five minutes from time of order to actually getting our food, staff apologetic but less than polite when we called. The food was reasonable but was only like warm when it eventually arrived. Probably wouldn't use them again.

Once again food was lovely. Delivery was a bit longer than stated, however it's a friday night and when I rang up also found out that they had a new delivery driver. Food was still hot when it got here, so all ok. When I rang up they were great 😊

Food took an hour and a half to be delivered, 20 minutes late, I could of caught the fish myself in that time. It was cold but burnt and just absolutely disgusting. Dry as anything. Would never order from here again.

Always good food from here but the size of the pieces of scampi seemed to have decreased since I last ordered. And the cheese on the chips is always stuck to the paper. So u lose half the cheese.. Apart from that, lovely food and good fast service

I've just looked at a few negative reviews and wonder what people expect if they have their fish and chips delivered? Fish and chips are best eaten as soon as they are cooked, or very soon after, otherwise they become soggy and tasteless. The good thing at the Preston Fryer is that the fish is cooked to order - most chip shops are doing this now - and it allows the fryer to engage with his customers at length (hard to get in a reply). To the point - I had a large cod, no chips. The fish was excellent, flavoursome and no bones. Delicious. The batter (secret ingredient Sprite and a new batter mixer) was OK but could do with being much crisper. Overall, it wasn't bad and was pretty good overall compared to some establishments. I would visit again. They do have an extensive menu. An improvement would be for the staff to wear chef's overalls to give a professional appearance - the casual look (including Spiderman baseball cap) is not good! Keep working on the crispy batter boys!

The order took near 90 minutes to arrive, was missing an item and was very poor quality, miles below their usual standard. The fish was stuck to its wrapping, the burger delivered was only around a quarter of the size of the bun it was in and everything was really greasy. The resteraunt agreed with Just Eat to refund the missing chips but I will never order from here again.

When I want proper chips I go straight for the Preston Fryer. Their food is tasty and freshly made to order and their service is excellent!

Food was hour and thirty five minutes after delivery time , second phone call was told shop busy so just eat customers delayed , this is unacceptable

Was notified that the food had been delivered, but we hadn't received any of our purchased items. Was told that was an error and the food will be 20 mins... and hour later the food arrives, and the order is wrong. Wouldn't advise. Have a good day! Ordered at 5:45 arrived at 8:30.

Never had a complaint here recieved half order late 2 fish cold then now 1.5 hours recieved final 2 meals chips are chewy and fish well again recieved cold fish burnt if i could up load picture of both fish i would none of this food was hot the quality was shocking today and the grease was so bad that i have not eaten fish or chips a complete waste of nearly 15 pounds i am a regular customer here only had one issues before quickly rectified a long time ago i will not order here again after tonight the only fish and chip shop i would order from now i wont man did apologise but same food came again

Order was 45 minutes late from original time with just eat we had a message saying 10 minute delay, then had to wait another 20 minutes after phoning to see where the order was. The food would have been lovely if it was warm. Expected it in insulated boxes not paper. I would still buy from the shop but collect myself and not rely on delivery. I have used them numerous times and have been first rate for quality when I have collected them. So I think deliveries need attention.

Cracking chips but the fish was much greasier than usual so a lot of the batter stuck to the paper, still a nice meal but mot worth what we paid for it.

We paid for large haddock and large cod,bur smaller than the regular size last time. Sorry,but you need to up your hame for us to return, and yes, everybody is busy. Don't charge for large if you cant meet the order. Bit disappointed

glad to say The Preston Fryer delivered an excellent meal tonight. After poor service and food a couple of weeks ago they were back on form tonight.

We always use this chippy but today I had The Chicken tikka kebab and OMFG it was AMAZING. I will most defo be ordering that again but next time a large lol

Fish, chips,curry sauce and mushy peas very good, batter crispy too. However, once again received much smaller portion of chips than ordered. This is the second time. will give chips one more go. If small again, will just order fish etc with no chips. Cost too high for amount received. Lynne and Ian.

not happy asked for no toms and no sauce and got coleslaw which is salad covered in a sauce had to chuck my chicken tikka in the bin and pull out the toms which had gone over everthing, most of it got wasted £10.95 wasted really

oh dear oh dear oh dear what a shame. I have ordered from this place many times over the last couple of months and every time the food has been delicious, piping hot and delivered on time. Today however was a disaster - when I phoned to query where my food was 10 minutes after allotted delivery time there was no apology, just told they had 20 orders for delivery and mine was on its way. 25 minutes after that the food arrived greasy, luke warm and overcooked. Most of it went into the food waste bin for recycling. One more chance to redeem yourselves Preston Fryer .....
