Lovely setting and very convenient for pre-theatre dining. We had lasagna, which came in a ramekin dish clearly microwaved as had burnt marks around the edge and floating in oily sauce. We had ordered an additional side salad and lemon cheesecake. Certainly was not worth the money. £28.50.

Down by the harbour, so excellently placed. Great outdoor and indoor seating, fabulous choice of lager, ales, spirits and soft drinks. And an excellent menu catering for all tastes!! Their Sunday roast is highly recommended. But do book a table on a Sat night, or you're eating outside. They care and it shows and they work hard to make you feel welcome. We loved it!! And Jo, the boss lady, is a real diamond - honest, engaging, friendly and fun!! 😊

If I could leave a zero star rating, I would as it doesn't deserve 1 star. Got in 5 40 waited 20 minutes to get our order taken, then waited over an hour to get served, even then the food was poor. Had to rush to eat it as we had to get into the theatre.

Called in for a drink after an afternoon on the nearby beach. Barman was extremely pleasant and helpful. However, the bar was closing early and the evening restaurant was also closed as there was no performance in the theatre that evening. It’s cold in winter and the food and drinks are overpriced. Impressionist photographs of the theatre on one wall aren’t particularly charming. The menu is simultaneously over simplified and confusing; is a platter a sharing option? Normally is, not here. Everyone working there is lovely but the layout is annoying - you want a beer and a coffee, you have to queue in two separate places. Pizza could do with a tiny bit longer in the oven.

Just called in for hot drinks whilst walking along the promenade. Staff were friendly and helpful. Disappointed they do not serve decaffeinated tea, apparently "management" don't believe there is a need for it. A pleasant environment within the theatre with views of the harbour and Torbay. Feedback about painfully slow service was initially not well received ("you're just arguing with me" - "no I'm not!" was worthy of Monty Python - I took the five minutes not the full half hour) but happily Ross (who held a more senior position) came to the rescue, smoothed the way with some poised customer service and all was well. Sometimes it's good to know what will happen if something goes wrong. Well done Ross and the pizzas were great.

Booked to have a meal here before watching a show in the theatre. It sounded really nice online and the location you couldn't really beat looking out over the marina. This wasn't the reality! We arrived and didn't really know where to go. Soon finding what can only be described as a food hall canteen... We spoke to the staff at the counter who weren't very enthusiastic. This may be down to the reason everything was missing off the menu! Out of a list of options maybe 2 items were available. We thought about having pudding to which we could choose from the cold cabinet on display. This again was empty! With a single square sliced sponge as an option... We decided against this. Over all a rubbish experience. At least the show we watched was fantastic.

Nice spot on the promenade opposite the marina but those are the best bits. Unfortunately the food was very poor. The Paninis were all over toasted, hard and had very little filling. The fries had clearly been fried previously and refried for us which meant they were overdone. We did complain when asked if everything was alright but they didn’t seem that bothered. Prices were about average for the front but were far too high for the standard of the food. We won’t return and suggest you go elsewhere.

I have eaten here a couple of times before seeing a show - the service is always slow but we leave plenty of time to order. Tonight has been dreadful, we were warned of a half hour wait, no problem we ordered at 6.20, so plenty of time to eat and be in our seats for 7.30 start. Except it wasn’t a half hour wait...45 minutes and that was after me chasing it. When it arrived it was mediocre to say the least. We were offered a complimentary drink to make up for the tardiness but it was too late for me, although my husband accepted a pint. We had to rush our meal and just made it into the theatre in time. That’s the last time we support this business, there are many more locally that are as good, if not better who have a quicker turnaround time.

We waited around for a few minutes, my son getting more desperate. Another member of staff came out and told us without a receipt we couldn't get in. Even she didn't know the code?? How do the staff get in to clean the toilets?? I understand this policy is there for a reason but for a small child it's disgusting. We were told there were public toilets down the road. We couldn't see these, however the next bar we came to were more than happy to accommodate my son. Such a shame as we definitely won't be returning there whilst we are holidaying here for the week.

I am local to the cafe and use it regularly having got though several loyalty cards, I visit mostly in the off season for hot drinks toasted tea cakes etc, have also had family meals before a show. Not any more - the standards are slipping. This Sunday I ordered one pot of tea and a tea cake, the Waitress, Millie, delivered the tea cake and said the tea will be along in a few minutes. 40 minutes later and after watching other people who came in after me being served with hot drinks, I gave them back the 'loyalty card' . Seems that my experience was similar to others here who say that they were ignored or staff seem indifferent, although I would say completely unaware, and no system for dealing with customers in rotation. So if you decide to have a drink or eat at this bistro allow plenty of time, as much as 40 minutes for a cup of tea! My weekly visits next winter will be elsewhere.

My wife and I booked seats for a show at the Princess Theatre Torquay so we decided to have a pre-show meal at the princess Bistro We booked the day before the show and were advised to eat early as there was a booking for a table of 9 - I think that was a wise move as there are not many waitresses for the number of tables and also we were able to reserve a super table with views over the harbour Food is moderately priced simple meals but good value for money and tasty and arrived hot - we were also given a free program for the show Only real downside is that the bistro is split over two floors with steep steps up to the first floor which also has the gents toilets All in all would recommend but not for anyone with mobility issues

Myself and a group of six others went to Breezes (The Bistro, Princess Theatre), Torquay, yesterday. It was a shambles from start to finish. Very few staff on, which meant waiting quite a while - we went at 5.15pm. Food was average, the one dessert ordered, cheesecake, was okay, but the addition of tinned fruit on the top did nothing for it. I ordered a prawn cocktail, which came with bread, I had to ask for butter! When we had finished, waiters walked past, but did not attempt to clear the table. I had to go downstairs to ask that this was done - and also to ask for the dessert to be served. Only to be told that the waitress who would be ‘making’ it would do it when she had finished serving the queue that had built up. We ordered drinks, which took ages to come, resulting in a couple of us having to put them in plastic to take into the theatre. Add to that, the drinks being expensive £6.10 or £7.10 for a SMALL Rose, and the fact that we had two elderly ladies with us and one lady needing a stick, and we had to wait until someone was free to take them through the locked doors to the lift - and that we were told there was no Ladies toilet upstairs, it was a disastrous experience - and not one we will be repeating. Shame as sometimes there is quite a large group of us. Still, their loss!

We booked this restaurant prior to seeing a show and on ordering, we were told the wait would be 45 minutes! The staff were rushed off their feet and the place was hectic. The food did arrive after about 25 minutes but we had no time for dessert, and came back out during the interval for them. All very rushed, although the food was very good. Think things could have been organised better. After all they know if the theatre is full or not and they know how many tables are booked! Also, drinks VERY expensive.

The position of this cafe is good.....overlooking the promenade and attached to the theatre. We just wanted a snack lunch and decided on jacket potatoes - one with tuna mayo and one with prawns in Marie Rose sauce. They didn’t have prawns so changed that to just some sweet potato fries. The food arrived quite quickly and the jacket with tuna was quite good, but the sweet potato fries were very dry and skinny, so needed mayonnaise to get them down! Not a cheap snack at just over £15 which also included 2 teas. It was quite nice though sitting looking over the promenade, but we did notice that tables weren’t being wiped over.

We had tickets for Dirty Dancing on Saturday night and came to this great venue for Pre show drinks. The location has spectacular views and they are especially great as the sun goes down. Drinks are a little on the expensive side, but in my opinion worth every penny as you can really soak up the Theatre ambience. The staff are incredibly friendly and efficient even though it was incredibly busy. Thanks.

Went to see Dreamcoats and Petticoats show this week which was fantastic. Fabulous evening of West End quality. Evening was only slightly spoilt by a dreadful meal in the Breezes restaurant prior to the show. I had the chicken korma and my friend had a Greek salad. The korma was shocking! At over 60 I have eaten numerous korma in my time but none where 50% was chick peas rather than chicken. I think I could have got past that if it were not for the fact the sauce was the consistency of thin soup! The most tasteless watered down sauce I have ever seen. I ate about one-third of the meal as there was not time to re-order and told the waitress it was poor/shocking when she collected the plates. She apologised and said she would tell the chef. She never returned to our table so no attempt to explain or resolve customer satisfaction was made. On balance I should say my friends salad looked and tasted nice and we have previously had satisfactory meals there. Can only suggest maybe this was an off-day but the lack of response did not make me feel like a valued customer which is a shame as we visit the theatre and restaurant fairly frequently.

We visit here for pretheatre drinks, and/or meal, quite often. Always find the staff extremely courteous, polite, helpful and friendly. The food is of a good standard too. Would definitely recommend a visit. Lovely setting too.

Food was adequate but not sparkling. I as with another customer, had to remind staff regarding missing components of the dish. We were on the ground floor and the full length windows were open which meant customers outside were gaining access and barging past seated customers. We closed our window to. Prices were over the top. Staff were courteous but need to pep up their efficiency level. Won't be using again.

The food for lunch was okay and the service was nice and friendly. We chose it mainly because it was a nice spot to sit outside close to the harbour wall. Not amazing, it is as it appears!

Popped in for brunch. Didn't have quite what my wife would have liked but they were more than happy to accommodate her. That doesn't happen every where. And with a smile. Good food. Nice view of marina. Happy friendly staff. Can't be faulted really.

My wife and I have had light and main meals on several occasions here and have always experienced friendly and excellent service. The waiting staff are always cheerful and eager to please. The food is always fresh and delicious and well cooked by the chef. Any problems are dealt with promptly and efficiently and always with a smile. The only small complaint is we find the drink prices are a little pricey. I have to end by saying that the general atmosphere was very pleasing. Highly recommended.

3 or us had a lovely meal before seeing the matinee show to watch Brendan Cole at the Princess theatre. Glad we booked as it was very busy. Very friendly helpful staff. We ordered veg chilli, sausage egg and chips and scampi and chips. We all enjoyed our meals. Didn't have to wait very long after ordering even though it was busy. Food was hot and tasty. Lovely selection of cakes so we all indulged ordering chocolate brownie, carrot cake and Viennese whirl. Finished our meal in plenty of time to see the show. Fabulous view overlooking the harbour and great for people watching. To top it all, Brendan wandered through the cafe as we finished our meal and he was happy to have a photo taken with us!

I spent a LOT of money here for my birthday this week, had their most expensive suite, had a full day in their spa and lunch with my sister and then invited 12 of my friends to join me there for a meal. However they took a very large deposit off me for booking a big group ( presumably against no shows- which is odd as I was staying that night in a suite and all my friends actually made the effort to send in their pre orders for their food to make it easier for the chef, but instead of keeping back my deposit to either refund it to my card or keep it reserved for me to pay off my food expense in the restaurant, the staff decided to just take a discount off all my friends food bills without bothering to ask me first if that's how I want MY £110 deposit used.. I can't afford to subsidise my friends meals unfortunately so I was put in the humiliating and embarrassing situation of having to contact all my friends later when I realised what they did, to ask if they could pay me back my deposit discount that was taken off their bills. Then to add insult to inury about half of my party got food poisoning from the meal here. And when I complained I got a very snotty "your fault not ours response from the manager about the mishandling of the deposit situation and when I paid my bill on leaving and mentioned my stomach cramps and diarrhea that had ruined my stay in their £350 a night suite as I was up all night in terrible pain with cramps and running to the loo, and all she said is dud I want to talk to the chef???? Like WHAT??? why do I need to talk to the chef when I am telling you the duty manager that their food had given my food poisoning. Absolutely atrocious, up themselves, snooty arrogant attitudes to the management there. My whole family was due to spend nearly 3grand going there for Christmas and now I will be telling my sister who has booked it she should get her deposit back as we can't risk my 96 year old mother going there and potentially getting sick at Christmas. This already destroyed my birthday that cost me and my sister and friends nearly a grand and I haven't had do much as a decent apology back. Absolutely do not waste your money going here. The rooms and spa are nice but the food was really not great and my scallops were cold and still raw in the middle

Busy and multi level 'Spoons which has a good breakfast trade of tourists and builders. Points away for all the coffee machines being in one place, especially as only 1 of the 4 was working during our visit, so the queue was enormous. That said a young crew were busy delivering both food and drinks. I know that this was refurbed earlier in 2024 but it still has the look of an older type of 'Spoons, with wood panels and nooks.

We had the misfortune to order the Xmas dinner off the Festive Menu. We can honestly say it was the worst meal we have ever had in any restaurant. Fried spiced potatoes for roast, raw brocoli, heaven only knows what they did to the parsnips and the peas as they tasted like dishwater. Turkey was spiced, the whole thing inedible and I sent mine back. My hubbie plodded on then gave up. We didn't even bother to stay for a dessert which was included. They did take the price off for my meal, but it still ended up costing us £23 for sod all. Awful place, dirty tables that had not seen a cloth in a while. Save your hard earned cash, go elsewhere. The server was a nice guy though.
