The Preston Brewery Tap in Brighton and Hove

I popped in for their grand reopening event following extensive refurbishment. A really warm welcome for well behaved people and their dogs! I had a nice pint of Budvar and, on this occasion, a free hog roast bun. I have passed the PBT many times but before now gave it a miss. Hope to go back soon and wish the landlady/landlord the very best of luck.

Called to this Pub specifically to take one of our Oldies for Pie & Mash. It is a very basic, sports type bar but found the staff and food to be very good. The Pie and Mash was billed as Manzies and the pie certainly tasted like it. Mash was not quite there but the liquor was good. Overall we enjoyed our meal and was made to feel welcome. Please note that on a sunday you can only order PML after 2pm due to the sunday lunch menu and you can only pay for food with cash.

A small outside courtyard is lovely way to enjoy a drink. The staff seem to know their regulars but also welcome strangers. Pop in after walking down from Preston Park station. Met up with friends and shared a pizza.

Lovely new owner, welcoming & chatty... wish them every success with their new venture. The place is clean, cosy, nice range of drinks on tap. Gone are the TVs and sport, now just a normal local pub which worth a visit.

Lovely staff and great selection of beer

The selection of pizza here is excellent and very tasty. It is a shame though that the service is so hit and miss. We placed an order online yesterday and went to collect, they denied the order had come through suggesting it was an error our end. That could have worked except we could see the order on the desk and pointed that out. No apology whatsoever whilst waiting for ages for the food order to be fulfilled. Despite good food we are going to use another competitor where the service is much better.

We booked an igloo for a special celebration The igloos are pretty but probably more magical at night. We had 3 different serving staff during our meal, sadly one was really indifferent and almost tipped the steak on the table as she handed it over. Having ordered the 10oz steak my son was looking forward to it. It arrived with two shrivelled mushrooms and some watercress. It was meant to come with chips but they had “run out”. The steak was supposed to be medium rare but was over cooked and chewy. Really disappointing. The burger was tasty but again came with no chips and was served with garlic bread instead, which I don’t like. The crab pasta was alright but that’s all that could be said for it. We were brought some fries after we finished our meal which was a kind gesture from the waiter. The pizza was ok and so was the carbonara. Three scoops of ice cream were massively overpriced but the sticky toffee pudding was slightly better value. I had high hopes for this meal but was so disappointed by it. If you are going to charge a premium for some meals e.g the steak then you need to deliver a premium product and service. I wouldn’t eat here again.

Called on spec on a sunny weekday and were given a table in the courtyard just beside the fountain. Lovely environment for a leisurely lunch in the sunshine. Sourdough pizza is excellent and the staff are all super-friendly. Really enjoyable visit.

Preston Brewery Tap found itself a new owners and went through a radical makeover in 2019, which transformed it from a pretty drab and dreary sports-pub to a bright and colourful community focussed pub. The pub is decorated outside with some jazzy multicoloured artwork and that continues inside. While the wackiness injects some colour and fun to the space, it's a bit random as a statement and quite unsympathetic to the pubs history... I first came to the Brwery tap in 1992 when 2 years underage I was severed my first pint in a pub! Shortly after I returned and won a pub quiz on Boxing Day by answering the question what type of disease is Christmas disease? We won a load more booze and we’re pretty I’ll the next day. Well I returned and how things have changed and much for the better, this drab trad boozer is now full of colour energy, good beer a Stella range of cocktails and some incredible pizza, like some of the best in Brighton pizza Great owners who were friendly and helpful bar staff, but of seating out front and a small garden out back, Tom of board games and did I mention the incredible pizza? If you’re in the area and want some pizza, stop by you won’t regret it x x x

First of all, the BEST artisan pizzas in East Sussex and proper, superb, amazing cocktails. It’s not your typical pub atmosphere, more like a pub/bar; but still relaxed and super friendly. Highly, highly recommended.

We've moved away now but this was one of my favourite places in Brighton. Shame it is a bit out of the way for town, because it has some of the best pizza I have ever had in a pub. Great relaxed place to pop into with friendly bar staff.

Fantastic local pub, they do excellent pizzas and a huge range of drinks. Run a weekly pub quiz and the landlord goes above and beyond to make sure everyone has a fantastic time with prizes to be won. Bar staff are really polite and serve you quickly.

This pub has transformed into a great friendly local pub. Sara and Kate along with their staff ensure a warm welcome and amazing service. The pizzas are amazing, they are home made, and you can tell. If you are looking for a pub with a local friendly feel, with great pizza then this is the place!!! Highly recommended :)

A couple of our friends stumbled upon the excellent Wednesday night quiz a couple of months back. We all decided to check it out and have been Wednesday regulars ever since. Super friendly staff, amazing pizzas, decent prices for Brighton and Sara the owner would give John Humphrys a run for his money as quizmaster.

Cosey bar great barman was really happy and inviting will definitely be going back.

Went to the Preston Brewery tap this evening asked 'what IPAs do you have on please'. Surprised at the reply of 'none, but we have 5 different lagers'.

We had a fabulous last night here to end our short holiday. The pizzas are amazing, the staff are super quick and friendly and the pub has a great atmosphere that's drawing you in. We played a few rounds of darts here and tried our way through the local beer specialties. We'd love to come again when in the area :-)

Very nice pub right next to Preston park. Recently done up. Good choice of beers. And delicious pizzas on the menu. Lil garden out back. Super friendly staff. I will be back fo sure next time I am down that end. Would deffo be my local if I loved closed!

Brilliant Pub, great service, really friendly owners! I was in need of help because I was running Brighton Marathon and my breakfast plans were not going to plan! But PBT sorted me right out and looked after my gear until later too! Obviously we had to go back for cocktails that were delicious! Thanks so much won't ever forget your kindness!

Boss little pub near Preston Park! Nice selection of beers, something for everyone and friendly staff who all said hello when I walked in.

Popped in as live nearby and had seen good things on the net. Friendly bar staff with interesting selection of cocktails. Bar pretty quiet but not the venues fault, drinks were tasty and would definitely visit again.

Lovely Brighton pub with a good selection of beers and awesome pizza. Bright colours, plants in beer cans, board games and a darts board; this place is ideal for a few rounds. Nice little garden area out back where we sat in the sun spot and enjoyed a freshly-made tasty pizza. Will be back again soon 😀

Came here for a drink and some food with a friend having never been before and we were both so impressed. The staff were instantly friendly and welcoming, the bar has a great selection of drinks. The pizzas were amazing and so fresh. I will definitely be coming again.

Beatiful place where to relax, a stone's throw away from Preston Park: outstanding park. Ideal for a quick pint and a throw of darts. Sarah is the friendliest of all and she did such a great job reviving this place. Highly recommended for the pizzas too!!!

In a rare outing in covid times, I visited the Preston Brewery Tap with my partner, housemate and whippets. We were made super welcome and the food was great. I had roast pork with all the trimmings, one of the few pubs I haven't had to ask for apple sauce. Everything was beautifully cooked and tasty. Will definitely be returning to try the roast lamb, that I had food envy over. They have a good drink selection and make great cocktails.

Staff very engaging. Pizzas very tasty with smaller sizes available for smaller appetites. Clean venue following all Covid guidelines. I heard the landlady taking details from someone that didn't have the NHS track and trace app.

We are new to Brighton. This pub is our new local. The owners and staff are all lovely. The Pizzas are the best in town. Better still are the Sunday Roasts, including vegetarian options. You will not get a better Sunday roast in Brighton. Oliver and Ged.

Been here on numerous occasions and always had great service including the booking of tables on the web. Really only done drinks and/or pizza. Pizzas are highly recommended who ever is cooking them. Also great to be able to support a friendly local business.

Cracking roast We went to PBT today for a Sunday roast and it was absolutely delicious. It was all so well cooked and the service was great as usual. Highly recommended.

Not honouring Great British Beer free beer promotion Simply said they no nothing. I'm not getting and thats it. No wish to check, just said we've not been told, despite looking at website. Non interested in me as a customer or the promo. Female member of staff sitting at table looking disinterested, think might be manager....very very poor show. Do not recommend. .. Update.....thanks for the response below. That answer would have been much appreciated at the time. What the business partner said was "Nobody told us and if we give you a pint that comes out our till". Much prefer the response to my review rather than your face to face dealing. I've upped you to 3 stars for that response not what I was told in the pub. And the word sorry was never uttered until this review

After an amazing turnaround from it's previous incarnation, Kate and Sara have turned the Preston Brewery Tap in to a fun and welcoming spot for people from all walks of life. Combining this with their broad range of cocktails and delicious homemade pizzas, the Tap offers a unique experience that will absolutely have you wanting to go back.

Had a great time at The Preston Brewery Tap last Friday. Really friendly and welcoming staff, excellent cocktails and delicious pizza. We sat outside in the sunshine but were impressed with the covid-safe arrangements inside, too. Looking forward to our next visit!

Incredible pizza! We came in with the kids after a spin around the Velodrome. We were met by lovely friendly, helpful staff, the sourdough pizza is impossibly good with fast service and great prices. We had Margheritas, a Napoli (you need to try this!), a Meaty Spicy, and a melt in the mouth garlic and rosemary flatbread with hummus the size of a dustbin lid! Very happy customers. Very safe, hygienic and lots of space between customers for these COVID times. We'll see you again soon PBT!

we were visiting Brighton for the weekend and we came across this lovely pub. My partner and I were greeted with friendly and welcoming staff. Happy hour 2 cocktails for £10 marvellous and the pizzas were amazing well worth a visit if you are in the area. The pub was very clean and tidy and the staff were always making sure it was kept clean and hygienic and the correct guide lines followed making sure it was safe at all times. Great place would go back anytime.

Friendly staff and excellent COVID hygeine. We were too early for happy hour cocktails or sourdough pizza though (our fave dough base). Met a couple of people we had not seen for ages too, and drank lovely cold Beavertown Neck Oil ( there was nothing on handpump).

Dropped in taking advantage of 'eat out to help out'. Pleasantly surprised - pizzas excellent. A fair selection - the chicken one (I think) was off the menu. Nice vibe. Spontaneous visit. The covid protocols working well and didn't detract.

Working alone in Brighton all week I desperately needed some company. A pub quiz is a great way to meet new people so stumbled across this gem. It was quiet when I arrived on a Wednesday evening but soon became busy, with amiable licensee Sara effortlessly mingling with the clientele. The pizza would not have been out of place in Rome and the Best Bitter was by far the most agreeable pint I’d had all week. Sara tells me she took the pub on at the end of last year after a series of previous failures. Something tells me this venture won’t follow suit.

Absolutely love the new PBT! The weekly pub quiz is great fun, the pizzas are amazing, and the service is always incredible. Love what the new owners have done with the place and cannot recommend it enough!

We had two really super pizzas very tasty the new owner was really lovely and welcoming. The pizzas were £8.50 each and worth every penny the total bill with a few drinks was £25 for the two of us. The atmosphere of the other dinners and drinkers was friendly and warm. Dogs are very welcome too. The booths are great and give you your own space Will be recommending this pub and the new direction of it to my friends and family

Started visiting the PBT since the new owners took over end of last year and it's fast becoming a favourite. We've tried the brunch (black pudding omlette is a winner), the pizzas and most recently the Wednesday night pub quiz; and they're all great! The pub quiz is one of the best I've been to in a long time. The service is friendly and fast, there are also darts and board games for a lazy Saturday afternoon. So happy to have this so close by :)

Just went for saturday night pizza and drinks with some friends. It was my first time going to this pub and I was very impressed! We all had delicious pizzas with yummy toppings and the drinks were really reasonable. Added bonus of darts boards and games meant we were kept entertained all evening. It has clearly been done up since the photos on this listing were taken, it's fresh and modern now. Thanks Preston Brewery Tap, we will be back!

Absolutely first class full English cooked to order. Superb. I asked for the egg to be cooked sunny side up and it was cooked to perfection. I even enjoyed some of my wife's black pud; last time I had black pud, I was still living at home in Liverpool.

The new owners are super friendly. Order a delicious freshly made pizza and enjoy the cool mural.

El desayuno vegetariano fue realmente impresionante; dos salchichas, halloumi, hash brown, huevo frito, tomate, champiñones, frijoles y pan de masa agria. Muy caliente y probado fantástico, además de muy buen café con leche. Definitivamente vale la pena una visita al PBT.

Apareció para el brunch y para ver los cambios con los nuevos propietarios. El personal es muy amable y los desayunos de verduras que teníamos muy sabrosos con tostadas de pan de masa fermentada. Se está entregando un horno de pizza y no puedo esperar para probarlo, la comida para llevar también será una opción.

Have been in twice since the re:open. Great vibe for drinks with friends after the Preston Park Fireworks. Then had Brunch on Sunday with the kids. Great fresh food and great BEER!! Love the rarebit. Easy place to be. Cant wait for the garden to open. So happy you have come to the neighbourhood!!!

Lovely staff members, but the food just wasn’t good. There was a hair on my plate and we only got one sausage and one piece of bacon even though we ordered full English breakfasts. The food wasn’t good quality at all.

Very good as usual, the Sunday roast are fab and they have a fine range of drinks. We come here often and not only as its close to our mother. I visit probably 10 times a year when down seeing family in town. We had my father's wake here earlier this year and the staff were wonderful and the spread magnificent.
