Olive Grove in Brighton and Hove

Our third meal at the Olive Grove on Saturday and it was as lovely as ever. Really delicious food, wonderful service. One of my favourite places to eat in Brighton (I live here and have eaten in many places) and I will definitely be going again soon!

Superb meal and staff were friendly great atmosphere very ambience lovely Greek music & Traditional dancing great night out highly recommended.

Had lunch with a friend following recommendation by her daughter. We arranged to met there and both had a bit of trouble finding it!!! We wanted a "tapas" type meal and this restaurant is ideal with a huge choice of small plates. The service was good and we enjoyed our lunch. Will definitely be going back here.

Visited here for a work meeting. The menu is good with a good selection, restaurant nicely laid out. Food was fairly average as was the service.

Well seasoned, expertly cooked fresh food at an affordable price. We had Greek salad, octopus, tiger prawns and falafel. The falafel were excellent, prawns succulent, octopus soft and delicious, salad fresh and tasty. Pho wine set the whole meal perfectly.

Staff ....one in particular needs to change her attitude.......couldn't cope to serve 13 of us ......so we went elsewhere and spent our money About£250.00 in a great Spanish tapas around the corner.......

Very disappointed with breakfast menu...ended up eating bread with cheese and a small plate of bread not even toasted with a selection of houmous....average taste unfortunately, could have been bought from local groceries... would not go back!!!

Just found this place. Popped in for lunch on a fine sunny day and sat in the courtyard. The staff were quick, friendly and attentive and the food was great. This is a mezze restaurant and everything is served fresh once ordered so sometimes you may have to wait a few minutes. But the wait is worth it. Order a selection of dishes to share is the way to go. Highly recommended.

Exceptional! Food was delicious, loved the falafel with beetroot puree and the lamb chops. Great atmosphere and lovely outside area. Service was equally good, they accommodated any food requirements with the utmost care. Can highly recommend this place.

Had fish of the day here (sea bass) and it was ok but not a very big portion and didn't come with potatoes or vegetables (apart from a small sprig of broccoli). Thought it was very overpriced for what it was.

Omg this place was sooo nice the food was amazing and even the cheapest wine was #divine!!! We ate soo much food it was extremely tasty, I would recommend the cauliflower and the humous i still dream about it to this day.

What a restaurant! We stumbled across it, looking for somewhere for a quick bite, and sat in the courtyard for about 3hours enjoying the food and cocktails. Would highly recommend.

An oasis in the middle of the city!!

Fantastic meal here at the weekend. Sitting outside in the sheltered courtyard was lovely. Had 6 small plates which were all excellent. Prawns (huge), meatballs (sauce was fab), broccoli & houmus, baked goats cheese.

Visited as a family with a 9 and 12 year old who lived their first tapas experience here. The food was absolutely delicious and whilst it was pricy, it was worth it. 😋

Popped in for lunch, really lovely location away from the bustle of the lanes. Had a shared Greek tapas, beautiful fresh ingredients, really tasty. Great mocktails as well, all at pretty reasonable pricing. Will def go again.

Especially spinach & feta pie was super delicious! Only downside; main course would have a larger portion size.

Absolutely loved it here. The wine list is possibly the best at any restaurant I have been to, for me personally anyway. Food fantastic as well, couldn’t fault anything here. Highly recommend.

My favourite restaurant in Brighton, possibly the whole world! First stumbled on this place while looking for somewhere to eat on a Friday night as everywhere else was booked. And it immediately became my go-to restaurant. The food is incredible, loads of options for meat-eaters and veggies alike, and service is always impeccable. My favourite is the kolokithokeftedes, which is a mouthful to order xD - but my god they are to die for. That and the spanakopita. We usually get a bunch of tapas and just share everything between us, and it's all just so good. I will always go back every time I'm in Brighton and rave about it to everyone who's in the area.

We ate here on an extremely quiet Monday evening at the end of March and with the exception of another couple, we were the only customers! The staff were excellent and as for the food, wow! We shared two starters and four mains. Everything was excellent, but our stand out two favourites were the baked goats cheese and the pork cheeks, highly recommended! If we visit Brighton again, Olive Grove will be on our restaurant list.

Just what the doctor ordered, chilled vibe with great fresh food. Staff super attentive and polite, a hidden gem in The Lanes. The wine exceptional especially the Pinot Noir.

The place is big, with a nice decor. The service very good, thanks to the attentive waitress. We had some tapas and the moussaka: everything was tasty.

Was left disappointed, wasn't what we were expecting as a restaurant, its more tapas style, restaurant could do with a bit of tlc especially the toilets, £60 on what was 4 starters. Food was good but very little of it. Some chips or potatos with it would have been a little more filling at no added cost. Smaller bowls would be better on such small tables, it was slightly congested. Can't help but think if we went round the corner to The House and spent £60 on food we would have eaten like Kings.

The plan was to have lunch and then go to a cocktail bar but the cocktails (passion fruit martini in particular 👌) and tapas ( special mention to the mushrooms, chicken croquettes and prawns) were so delicious there was no need to go anywhere else! . We had a fabulous meal here. We had a variety of very delicious tapas. There was a good selection of vegetarian options and it was lovely to share the tapas between the four of us. The highlight was the Vegetarian Papoutsaki The service was excellent and there is a lovely ambience with Greek Music. It was not too noisy so we could chat easily. It is in a very characteristic part of Brighton, down the Lanes, so it made a nice walk to get there. Highly recommended.

Enjoyed an afternoon lunch on the patio after a long day of hiking. I had a few tapas: the Risotto Fingers and Ham Croquettes. The Risotto Fingers were absolutely amazing, and the Ham Croquettes were nice and filling. The atmosphere was very relaxing, and the service was wonderful. My sever, Sam, was very nice, attentive, and offered to turn the heater on for me above my table. Very much recommend this little cove in the lanes!

Brilliant menu to suit vegetarian and non vegetarians, sharing tapas with decent portion sizes. Freshly prepared to order and beautifully presented. Value for money too. Moreover , very friendly and attentive staff.Will highly recommend to everyone.

Visited as fancied tapas. Between us both we had the olives whilst we chose our dishes. We then had Moussaka, Greek salad and Vegetarian Patpousaki. Really tasty food, good service. We would certainly visit there again.

Great service and tasty food but poor value. Ordered the lamb chops and mousakka but was told we’d need to order something else as it was “tapas “ style which surprised me at around £18 a dish , ordered a veg dish to go with it which turned out to be just a slice of aubergine with sauce and cheese . Really disappointed for £75 including two drinks . Also TURN DOWN the radio !

Lovely food but so pricey! Small tapas portions for £15. We had octopus for £14.90 and the portion size was about the size of a round drinks coaster. Delicious though, but tiny. V expensive lunch for us. We knew it was tapas but I hoped for reasonable portions.

We had a lovely late lunch here, it wasn't crowded so the service was very prompt. The olives and bread were wonderful, we had the vegetarian papoutsaki and the wild mushrooms for main, small portions as others have pointed out but it was fine for us with the bread and olives. I had a glass of Pino Grigio and my husband had cider, both very nice. The waitress was very friendly and checked with us regularly that everything was okay. Will definitely come here again.

Really, really enjoyed a leisurely lunch with friends here. A lovely Greek menu, designed for sharing, with great guidance from an attentive team. Some decent cocktails and Greek wines to match the food. Can thoroughly recommend you give it a try and trust the team to deliver a treat for your taste buds!

More like medium sized tapas dishes so prices seem high but the quality is very good indeed. Go with friends and share some dishes. Good cocktail too. Service decent. Lovely setting in the courtyard when weather is good.

The Olive Grove is not a bad restaurant, far from it. It is in a good location, it has a super little outside eating area and two floors inside. The menu has plenty of choice and the food was enjoyable. However we did feel that the food was overpriced for what you receive. We are in agreement with others that have pointed this out. We went as a couple and looking at the menu as a regular dining experience the prices seemed reasonable. However, this isn't a regular dining experience, it is tapas. Not that there's anything wrong with tapas, we both love to eat this way. It just wasn't what we thought we were going to get when we sat down and ordered a drink. Because it was tapas we ordered three dishes. One of those dishes at £18 was the priciest of the main dishes and consisted of four lamb chops, with some tsatziki. We also ordered a vegetarian pie in puff pastry (two slices basically) and some calamari. Don't get me wrong, the food was OK. We enjoyed the meal. But for the size of plate you are served the food is overpriced. I understand that this restaurant is right in the middle of the Laines and that it is a big restaurant and that rent and council tax and other overheads must be astronomical. I also get that the footfall in that part of town is probably not as high as it could be. I am guessing (but I don't know) that the restaurant used to serve regular meals in regular portions for the same price but what with rising prices maybe they converted to tapas style and didn't alter the prices. Nevertheless, our bill for two people came to £59 and whilst we did choose the food and the cost was displayed I still felt a bit cheated. That said, if you enjoy tapas and you don't mind paying the money the the restaurant is a cool place to dine of an afternoon when the sun is out. I would hope that in order to offset the high cost that in the evening they hire Manitas de Plata to play acoustic guitar and Carmen Amaya to dance flamenco at NO extra charge, but I doubt it. All in all though the service was OK, the food was OK and I would not discount returning as I am sure they ha e a great atmosphere when full. Just bear in mind though that food does tend to come when it comes and you may not get all your dishes served together. This is probably a great pla e for groups of diners as opposed to couples, but that's just my opinion.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful restaurant and I must say, it has quickly climbed to the top of my list of favorite dining spots in Brighton. The outdoor seating area is delightfully pleasant, providing a relaxed and comfortable ambiance. The menu, although simple, offers a variety of options that are perfect for sharing, making it an ideal choice for group outings or intimate gatherings. Everything we tried was nothing short of amazing, including the Greek wine, which was a delightful surprise! The service was top-notch as well, with the staff being attentive and friendly throughout our meal. A large restaurant in the south lanes and clearly geared up for serving lots of people. Unfortunately the food is generic pap. Most of it appears to be deep fried out of the freezer or microwaved out of a jar. The food we ordered was...

Amazing restaurant! We did get a bit lost trying to find it (inexperienced with navigating the Lanes), but are so glad we persevered. Everything was delicious - we especially loved the papas bravas and baklava! Friendly service and lovely atmosphere.

Visited yesterday with two friends. Wine and tapas (calamari in particular) very nice. The young lady who served us was very pleasant and helpful and the outside area not too noisy, unlike the other on-street place we visited where the noise played merry hell with my hearing aids!

We went for a family birthday party. Good 'tapas' style dishes with a predominantly Greek menu. Good flavours, good portion sizes, best shared between people. I reckon one to two dishes per person plus bread and olives is about right. Lots of vegetarian options. A very enjoyable and sociable meal!

Food lovely,staff pleasant but overall somewhat pretentious expensive. We had completed our meal and bottle of wine in one hour. £30 for a bottle of Retsina seems expensive. Would not go again.

It was a grey and very windy evening. The rain was threatening. We were looking for somewhere we could eat with the dog that wasn't burgers... we thought we'd have to sit outside but when we arrived we (meaning the two adults and the dog)...

We found this little hub of heavenliness bang in the middle of Brighton…an oasis of calm with a Green radio station-seriously!-added to the vibe. So. People looking after us. Fabulous. Olives. Gorgeous. Mains of sea bass on a butter bean mash & mushrooms sitting in...

We ate here prior to going to a concert, nice atmosphere in the restaurant, the food is well presented. Bare in mind the menu is a Greek take on tapas so the dishes come out when they are ready. The crab and pawns were very good, it's pricey here but it's a nice chilled dining experience a good place to take your better half.

The food was lovely. Good for sharing otherwise not enough for a main meal. We were offered Banoffee Pie which straight away we ordered 2 for dessert. How about 2 slices of banana bread was delivered...instantly I wasn't impressed. Anyway, the Banana Bread was nice but 2 slices with one ropey ball of vanilla for £13.90 was not acceptable. When the waitress returned she somehow had no idea and I expressed my disbelief that one dessert can be passed off as the other. Management didn't look very happy but our waitress was lovely. Will not go back nut nice food aside from the odd 'Banoffee Pie'

Relaxed and welcoming. Tasty tapas and lots of choices. We’ll worth a visit. The feta fries were my favourite and the vegetarians among us had plenty of options.

I thought it was rather overpriced. It was our first visit with friends who've been before. They advised us to order no more than 2 tapas plates each. I had the feta and spinach filo pastry dish which I'd been warned by my friends that they'd found it a bit tasteless. I've eaten it in Greece and loved it, but this was definitely tasteless. I also had a dumpling dish which had very little in the way of filling. Each of the dishes were £11.90, not big enough to just have one, so £24 for a mediocre main course. My husband had 2 plates and 1 of them was £14.90. They brought a hot dinner plate to decant food onto, but that cooled very quickly, as did the dishes the food was served in. It was basically a plate of tasteless tepid stodge. The drinks were overpriced and the bill for 4 of us which was effectively a main course and a beer came to £158.😬 For a Saturday night it wasn't very full but it's not really surprising. The staff were friendly and polite. I certainly won't be returning anytime soon.

Excellente nourriture. J’ai gouté à tout et tout était bon. Très bon houmous. Très bonne croquette de poulet fromage (un peu plus de poulet ??). La moussaka était très bien. Mention spéciale pour les choux fleurs! Pareil pour la tarte feuilletée épinard. Pas un légume facile mais cuisiné de cette façon c’était excellent. Service efficace.
