The food hits the spot and just what you’d hope for. There’s usually a bit of a line, but it moves quickly and is definitely worth the wait. The service is efficient, and the atmosphere is no-fuss and friendly. Perfect for a casual weekend breakfast or brunch :)

So pleased we stumbled across this place, we had a tickets for a local comedy club and needed to find somewhere to eat before. Luckily for us they could squeeze us in and to be fair if we had been in Brighton longer than a few nights we would have definitely returned. We had the rib eye steak and it was so good, I always like it when you can see into the kitchen and could see the two chefs preparing the food. We got a side of potatoes, now I’m not a big potato person but these potatoes (skin on smashed roasted) were next level and the portion was ideal for two to share. All the food coming out of the kitchen looked incredible and it’s a real shame we didn’t make it back so we could try more.

It was an awful experience! So I ordered French toast as usual. But to my surprise it was the same French toast they used to served. I spoke to the server and said that I was not happy with the French toast. She told me there was a description in the menu and that they changed the recipe. Honestly, it was deceiving and it's bullsh*t!!! Certainly it's a not a new recipe if it's a ready made pastry with cream inside and they just added more cream and almond flakes to make it look like a French toast. They might as well change the name. Really disappointed and I think I'm not going to go back. Such a shame. Took some photos the difference between the French toast before and the new one

My experience was awful yesterday, really disappointed! So I ordered French toast as usual. But to my surprise it was not the French toast they usually served! So I spoke to the server to make sure that it was the correct order and she said yes. She also said they changed the recipe and there was a description in the menu. Certainly it was not a change of recipe when it was just a ready made pastry and a cream was just added and a sprinkle of almond flakes to make it look like a French toast! It was deceiving, might as well change the name so people will not expect a French toast. I also informed the server that it was not the same as it was , and I'm not happy about it..To make the matter worst , instead of just listening to my dissatisfaction and offer a solution , she was defensive and told me about change and life total bullsh*t she was trying to make me feel bad because I made a complain of the food that was not satisfactory. I wanted to include photos here but there was no option to do so.

We were quite literally lost in the lanes during a visit to family in Brighton …. When we found lost in the Lanes!! We hadn’t made a reservation but the very smiley and sweet Addie managed to find us a table… we’d just missed brekky which a couple of girls were having next to us and it looked perfect! We quickly decided this was a brilliant find… gorgeous ambience…. Absolutely amazing food….. the chicken thighs and the crispy potatoes are out of this world!! Try them you won’t be disappointed!! When we visit we will definitely return .. if we can find you guys!! Thank you … the most perfect meal!

Great, vibrant and busy place. Food is amazing although short on the crab dish. Staff excellent. Food can be a little slow but quality 👌 It's noisy, always, and the cake portions are smaller than most other places locally while definitely not cheaper.

Two of us enjoyed a lovely, relaxed dinner. Friendly service, interesting menu with plenty of vegetarian and gluten free choices, - and wow, those truffle crispy potatoes! Enjoyed the white Rioja too.

We arrived late expecting to have tea and coffee. We decided to try a couple of dishes because they looked so good. We ended up eating until dessert, even though the kitchen had already closed. Everything was excellent, from the service to everything we tried. On top of that, the price of everything was very reasonable.

Didn't have a reservation, but we were found a good table for breakfast, which was delicious. Service was friendly and attentive, and although food wasn't quick, we weren't in a hurry and it was certainly well worth the wait. The rice pudding, the fruit bread and the full English - would have them all again. Please!

Took myself on a little solo date here, as I fancied a cocktail and a couple of small plates. Lovely service, delicious food and a reasonable price for the quality of the meal. The rosti with beef cheek ragu was incredible, and I highly recommend it!

I thought the sliced roast Pumpkin was very tasty and the puree with this had a smooth texture and was full of flavour. Also the olives I had were very big and juicy.

We came back!! On a rainy Tuesday morning there was plenty of seating inside. We ordered the same things as the last time we came because it was so good. So many places seem to go down a little on a second visit, BUT NOT HERE!! The food was once again perfect and the atmosphere welcoming. We visited here after reading several reviews and we were not disappointed! Although busy, we found a table straight away and having a small dog with us was no problem. Staff were incredibly friendly. We ordered and the drinks came came out in a few minutes before the best presented breakfasts we've had in a long time, it almost felt like a crime to eat them, and they tasted just as good. We chose to sit outside and blankets were available if we needed them. Definitely worth the visit.

Thought this will be a good review, however after the way I was treated by staff made it -1 stars. I have gone to lost in north laine today for brunch and finish off few bits of work, as i came in no one warned me about no work/laptop policy, the only way it was written is on the mirror behind me, which I couldn't see. As I sat I opened my laptop straight away, once again NO ONE WARNED me about the policy. Then after I was done with food, payed for the meal, and was sat there finishing off work - a manager came in and asked to leave, because I was using my laptop. You know what, I've been in many difficult service situations. as I work in media and part of my job is write about cafes/restaurants, but hell I WAS NEVER KICKED OUT OFTHE RESTAURANT. And bear in mind no one was bothered by it, the people sitting next to me were even trying to explain to manager that this is fine - but unfortunately the manager had no human feelings whatsoever. After I left I understood that probably the reason to kick me out was that I was sat alone with only one plate and didn't want me to be taking the sit. So the advise to all of the singles going - be careful, you may be kicked out! And dear management team, I am waiting for your reply upon this matter.

Great atmosphere and vibe. Food exceptional OMG the smoked trout and the smashed truffle potatoes. Massive fail on the cakes, carrot cake was dry and not sure it ever saw a carrot. Baked cheesecake meh!

My wife and I have eaten here for many breakfasts and every time is outstanding. The food is always presented and cooked perfectly. The staff are lovely and attentive. Our dog really likes it in there too!

Nice place for lunch, however was a little let down by the service unfortunately. Was very slow and noone came to take our plates or ask if we wanted anything else after food was served. I recall the brunch i had before being nicer. Food was ok.

Excellent service and the food was way beyond! For instance, their crushed potatoes with truffle oil - I still dream about and have tried to replicate that dish at home (but to no avail 😜) All the staff were friendly and cheerful and nothing was too much trouble for them. What a wonderful brunch we had here. I had the vegetarian and my partner had the butchers, the food was so full of flavour. The new potatoe hash is now my new obsession. They are dog friendly which is wonderful. Staff were accommodating and attentive.

The service was a bit mixed. One cocktail was delicious and the second was very heavy with rum. Also the service was a bit slow. The mains are worth it but overall was ok

Tried many times to get quick coffee. Never had luck until 15th. They said we can sit at the table for 15 minutes. We got reminders after 10 mins. We ordered a slice of cake one tea and one coffee £13. Disappointed about dry cake and not taste good as its looked

The decor and food is wonderful, but it's the staff that really sell it for me. I feel like it's rare to enter an establishment and are made to feel welcome, warm and well looked-after, which is why coming here is a genuine joy. Try the chai and cheesecake!

Really lovely place to have drinks and some light brunch which is reasonably priced. I was pleasantly surprised as the London Fog was £4 with came in such pretty cups and tasted delicious.

What a wonderful little find. We came here after a show at the Brighton Centre, not sure what would be open at around 8.20. the place was quiet, serene and with a lovely cozy atmosphere. We had great food throughout, little small plates that came together in a great way, good wine, great service. Highly recommend.

South America and the poles aside, I’ve eaten breakfast in every continent of the world. And right here in Brighton at Lost In Lanes is the best breakfast I’ve eaten in my life — and my partner feels the same way. She had the vegetarian breakfast and I had the vegan, washed down with acai. Delicious hardly does justice to our meals — and crazy good value too. Enjoy!

Lovely place for breakfast. Cold blast of air every time the door opens so sit well away from the entrance. Friendly staff but can be hard to catch their eye for extra drinks. I think they must be short of drinks menus as they are whisked away quickly after ordering.

Myself, my husband and 2 friends were in Brighton for a gig the night before and wanted to meet for brunch the next day. I googled, 'Best brunches in Brighton' and this place popped up. We were not disappointed! Greeted in a friendly way and shown to our table even though we were about 25 mins early. All 4 of us ordered a different dish and everyone was very happy with their choice. I especially loved my nduja eggs with garlic yogurt and sourdough for dipping in to it- it was so delicious! And the 2 mimosas I ordered were also thoroughly enjoyed! The place was nicely busy with a great atmosphere and very clean. I told one of the waitresses as I was leaving that I had just used up the last of the toilet paper in one of the cubicles and I saw her immediately go to rectify it. We were very happy with our choice and would 100% return.

Decent place to stop for breakfast. The food was great, atmosphere was good, though a little loud. Server didn’t check on us once which was a little annoying but non the less, it was alright. It can be a little hard to find, and the best way to find it is head directly east of Cafe Nerro.

Absolutely delightful evening here. We came for dinner and had a wonderful experience. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Food was delicious, really good spread of options. Loved the decor and feel of the place too. Real highlight of our stay, will definitely come back.

A clean, contemporary and relaxed café with friendly attentive staff. I had the truffle crispy potatoes...... How they make them crispy yet melt in your mouth, I've not a clue, but I've never had such tasty potatoes before!!!

Dropped by a few weeks ago, sadly a waiter informed me that although they have Gluten Free items on their menu, including GF bread, HOWEVER they do not avoid any cross contamination (no dedicated spaces to prepping GF food/likely to use a shared board for cutting bread both non-GF and GF), therefore this spot is a no-go for Coeliacs wanting to eat out 😔 If this changes, would love to know so I can visit with my friends who like to eat here ☺️

The food was absolutely fantastic. Delicious cocktails were great value two for one during happy hour. The staff were wonderful especially Olympia. I would recommend this restaurant. Can’t wait to visit again Ps must have the Tartiflette and the Rosti YUM

Found this place on the internet and overall the quality of the breakfast was very good. Service was somewhat flat from the young lady who had a face which indicated she wasn’t t happy to be there. Consequently resent paying. A mandatory 12 1/2% service charge which in my book is a cheek.

Bought a coffee £3.50 and the size is almost as an espresso of how small it is.

También fue el cumpleaños de mis maridos y el personal puso una vela en el postre para que fuera extra especial para nosotros. ¡No puedo expresar lo deliciosas que estaban las tartiquetas y los pinchos de cerdo! I have been celebrating almost every birthday with my family at this restaurant for the last few years, and it never fails to impress. The exceptional food is always the star of the show, accompanied by the warm and welcoming staff who make every visit memorable. The cocktails are simply incredible, adding a touch of sophistication to the experience. Moreover, the beautifully bohemian interior sets the perfect ambiance for a special celebration. This restaurant truly excels in providing a delightful dining experience that keeps us coming back for more every year. I truly believe this to be one of the best restaurants in Brighton and continuously recommend it to both locals, and visitors. I am so sure of the consistency of excellence, that I would recommend it to the King should he visit Brighton and the opportunity presented itself!

Sadly our experience here was not good. We saw a couple enjoying a delicious slice of chocolate cake outside with coffee.....so, in we went. We asked if it was OK to just have coffee cake, which was greeted with a yes, you can sit in the window on the bar stools. After a while we started to wonder where the drinks were, looking over to the till, there they were, sitting there waiting to be brought over...another 5 mins went by before someone decided to cut the cake and put it next to our order... then another few minutes before it was brought over. No sugar was offered or brought over so we went to ask for some and was told someone would bring it over.... they never did. We had to go up again and ask and by which time the coffee (clearly very good coffee to be fair) was practically too cold to drink. The cake was delicious for what it's worth. The window bar we were sat at was incredibly sticky and could have done with a clean. On the way out I said thank you, as you do, to the staff wiping a table nearest the door and got completely ignored. Usually, it is the staff that say thank you to patrons upon leaving. Lost in the Lanes? Perhaps when you find this place you could locate the service for them as thay seemd to have gone for a meander. It took 4 members of staff from purchase, brewing, slicing and then table service, to deliver the most expensive brew and slice I've ever had. Good cake though, my compliments to the chef.

I went here for my mother’s birthday and they created a perfect environment for our celebration! The food was spectacular, everyone was so welcoming. I recommend!!!

We decided to visit Lost in the Lanes for my daughter’s birthday brunch. There were 7 of us, when we walked in and asked for a table the waitress took a deep breath and looked very dismayed. She took us to a table and asked if we were ordering food, when I said yes she walked over to the chef shook her head and said “ 7 people and yea they’re eating”! We instantly felt unwelcome and felt as if we weren’t welcome. We all walked out and would never visit this establishment again. We are south Asian so I don’t know whether it was the fact that ethnic minorities aren’t welcome. Anyway if you want good customer service DO NOT visit

Having lived in and around Brighton for 30 (or more) years we were happy to stumble across LOST a few weeks ago. Since then we have visited on several occasions and each time the coffee (hot, well balanced and full of flavour), the food (be it toast, butcher’s breakfast or the carrot cake) is to a high standard and fresh. The one thing that stands out is the service, it is efficient, friendly and there at a raise of the head. It will now be our go to for morning coffee when in Brighton and we look forward to trying lunch / dinner soon.

Not sure what the fuzz is about. The venue is beautiful, and the drinks are well made. However, when we arrived halfway through their lunch serving, half of the menu was already sold out. Not sure if this is common, but I expect a restaurant to ensure they can serve their full menu throughout. The food that did come out was ok, but not matched to the price asked, and too much garlic A good place for a few drinks, good atmosphere, but wouldn't return for the food.

The booking system had not let us book an earlier table but when we got there it was fairly quiet. Food and service was excellent using really good produce. Got a lot busier around 9

Visited with my friend and had an absolutely brilliant evening. We had a varied selection of tapas washed down with a couple of cocktails and followed with dessert. All the food was so tasty and the atmosphere in the restaurant was lively even at 6pm. Our waiter explained each of the dishes to us and made suggestions as to good choices. He really looked after us in such a friendly and efficient way, the Manager/Owner? was very hands on and we came away from there with a real "feel good factor". Will definitely make a return visit next time I am in Brighton.

I cannot recommend this place enough. On a little solo trip to Brighton, I asked around for place to dine and was recommended here for breakfast as a vegan and I can see why. The avocado toast incredible. Lovely coffee, people and place.

The place is worth experiencing as a tourist. You must have breakfast in this place. This is very elegant

I visited with my friend in October for breakfast. Hot drinks are on point and pretty including matcha, chai and turmeric. I had the French toast but was disappointed I could not taste the coffee mascarpone or sweetness and it felt a bit savoury with the pumpkin overall. I also tried the croque monsieur and it was also not to my taste as the chef had add in mustard that was not listed on the menu description. The piccalilli was tasty and sour as to be expected. For the price point I felt even more unsatisfied that I didn’t enjoy anything. All of the dishes are presented well but maybe the ingredient combinations a bit contrived.
