A clean, contemporary and relaxed café with friendly attentive staff. I had the truffle crispy potatoes...... How they make them crispy yet melt in your mouth, I've not a clue, but I've never had such tasty potatoes before!!!

Dropped by a few weeks ago, sadly a waiter informed me that although they have Gluten Free items on their menu, including GF bread, HOWEVER they do not avoid any cross contamination (no dedicated spaces to prepping GF food/likely to use a shared board for cutting bread both non-GF and GF), therefore this spot is a no-go for Coeliacs wanting to eat out 😔 If this changes, would love to know so I can visit with my friends who like to eat here ☺️

Took our visiting family to Lost yesterday evening and it did not disappoint. Wonderful staff, delicious food & a beautiful venue. Highly recommend the lamb main & spiced plum dessert!

The food was absolutely fantastic. Delicious cocktails were great value two for one during happy hour. The staff were wonderful especially Olympia. I would recommend this restaurant. Can’t wait to visit again Ps must have the Tartiflette and the Rosti YUM

I have been celebrating almost every birthday with my family at this restaurant for the last few years, and it never fails to impress. The exceptional food is always the star of the show, accompanied by the warm and welcoming staff who make every visit memorable. The cocktails are simply incredible, adding a touch of sophistication to the experience. Moreover, the beautifully bohemian interior sets the perfect ambiance for a special celebration. This restaurant truly excels in providing a delightful dining experience that keeps us coming back for more every year. I truly believe this to be one of the best restaurants in Brighton and continuously recommend it to both locals, and visitors. I am so sure of the consistency of excellence, that I would recommend it to the King should he visit Brighton and the opportunity presented itself!

Sadly our experience here was not good. We saw a couple enjoying a delicious slice of chocolate cake outside with coffee.....so, in we went. We asked if it was OK to just have coffee cake, which was greeted with a yes, you can sit in the window on the bar stools. After a while we started to wonder where the drinks were, looking over to the till, there they were, sitting there waiting to be brought over...another 5 mins went by before someone decided to cut the cake and put it next to our order... then another few minutes before it was brought over. No sugar was offered or brought over so we went to ask for some and was told someone would bring it over.... they never did. We had to go up again and ask and by which time the coffee (clearly very good coffee to be fair) was practically too cold to drink. The cake was delicious for what it's worth. The window bar we were sat at was incredibly sticky and could have done with a clean. On the way out I said thank you, as you do, to the staff wiping a table nearest the door and got completely ignored. Usually, it is the staff that say thank you to patrons upon leaving. Lost in the Lanes? Perhaps when you find this place you could locate the service for them as thay seemd to have gone for a meander. It took 4 members of staff from purchase, brewing, slicing and then table service, to deliver the most expensive brew and slice I've ever had. Good cake though, my compliments to the chef.

Highly recommend ... the food was amazing, the decor/atmosphere was wonderful, we had excellent service, and the playlist was fantastic! It is clear that there is a lot of care and attention put into the customer experience. I'll definitely be returning to this restaurant... thank you!

We decided to visit Lost in the Lanes for my daughter’s birthday brunch. There were 7 of us, when we walked in and asked for a table the waitress took a deep breath and looked very dismayed. She took us to a table and asked if we were ordering food, when I said yes she walked over to the chef shook her head and said “ 7 people and yea they’re eating”! We instantly felt unwelcome and felt as if we weren’t welcome. We all walked out and would never visit this establishment again. We are south Asian so I don’t know whether it was the fact that ethnic minorities aren’t welcome. Anyway if you want good customer service DO NOT visit

Having lived in and around Brighton for 30 (or more) years we were happy to stumble across LOST a few weeks ago. Since then we have visited on several occasions and each time the coffee (hot, well balanced and full of flavour), the food (be it toast, butcher’s breakfast or the carrot cake) is to a high standard and fresh. The one thing that stands out is the service, it is efficient, friendly and there at a raise of the head. It will now be our go to for morning coffee when in Brighton and we look forward to trying lunch / dinner soon.

Not sure what the fuzz is about. The venue is beautiful, and the drinks are well made. However, when we arrived halfway through their lunch serving, half of the menu was already sold out. Not sure if this is common, but I expect a restaurant to ensure they can serve their full menu throughout. The food that did come out was ok, but not matched to the price asked, and too much garlic A good place for a few drinks, good atmosphere, but wouldn't return for the food.

The booking system had not let us book an earlier table but when we got there it was fairly quiet. Food and service was excellent using really good produce. Got a lot busier around 9

Visited with my friend and had an absolutely brilliant evening. We had a varied selection of tapas washed down with a couple of cocktails and followed with dessert. All the food was so tasty and the atmosphere in the restaurant was lively even at 6pm. Our waiter explained each of the dishes to us and made suggestions as to good choices. He really looked after us in such a friendly and efficient way, the Manager/Owner? was very hands on and we came away from there with a real "feel good factor". Will definitely make a return visit next time I am in Brighton.

I cannot recommend this place enough. On a little solo trip to Brighton, I asked around for place to dine and was recommended here for breakfast as a vegan and I can see why. The avocado toast incredible. Lovely coffee, people and place.

The place is worth experiencing as a tourist. You must have breakfast in this place. This is very elegant

I visited with my friend in October for breakfast. Hot drinks are on point and pretty including matcha, chai and turmeric. I had the French toast but was disappointed I could not taste the coffee mascarpone or sweetness and it felt a bit savoury with the pumpkin overall. I also tried the croque monsieur and it was also not to my taste as the chef had add in mustard that was not listed on the menu description. The piccalilli was tasty and sour as to be expected. For the price point I felt even more unsatisfied that I didn’t enjoy anything. All of the dishes are presented well but maybe the ingredient combinations a bit contrived.

We really like this place normally but my Saturday visit had an abrupt end which was poor. Breakfast was great as usual and this place is always busy. They are dog friendly and the interior is nice. We finished up our food and paid. My husband went to the bathroom. We were on the bar stools in the window - a staff member asked if I could move my coat from the solo bar stool for another guest which I did. It turned out she actually needed two seats. But there was only one available. She had her eye on another one. The one I was sat on. I had hopped off mine to put our little old lady dog into a backpack to get ready to go. And she asked if she could take my chair. I hadn’t left yet which I pointed out. There was then this weird interaction where a lady was trying to take my still-warm chair away from me when I hadn’t left. My husband hadn’t returned yet but we were being evicted. It was just unprofessional. The right thing to have done would have been to apologise and give me some space to actually leave the building and for my husband to return, have time to put his coat on and other normal things you do when leaving. It was quite clear I was irritated when i pointed out I hadn’t left yet. That was evidently too subtle so I then asked if I could have a couple of minutes get my things (dog) and for my husband to return before getting kicked out. It ruined the breakfast and left a bitter experience.

Really enjoyed the vegan Smokey beans on toast! Yummy coffee too and staff were very friendly. Would definitely come back!

Nice place but a grumpy staff member took away from experience.

Unfortunately, our recent dining experience was quite disappointing. Despite waiting for 20 minutes and making multiple attempts to flag down a server, we struggled to place our drink and food order. Even after ordering, we had to follow up on our drinks. To add to our frustration, we were never offered a refill throughout the meal. While the food was decent, the service was truly subpar

Amazing quality food and creative platting. I absolutely love all the dishes we ordered. I had the asparagus and peas risotto and thoroughly enjoyed it. The smashed potatoes was delicious as well and paired really well with the fish dish we got. The fish was flaky and cooked perfectly but the sauce can be a little salty and overpowering, but we had paired it with the potato so it worked really well.

We stopped here for breakfast as the place looked nice and was busy, which is usually a good sign. Thr service was inexistent, so we did wonder what you pay the 12.5% for, and the food, well, we waited 30 min for it and it was not even warm, so certainly not freshly cooked. Not going back.

The best breakfast I have ever eaten anywhere in the World... I make that statement too as someone who travels the World 30% of my year and have done so for the past 20 years. I had the Butchers Breakfast and everything was amazing, the quality, the taste, the presentation and the portion size. Eggs cooked to perfection, amazing proper butchers sausage, and the potatoes where delicious. I will be coming back for sure and making the 2.5 hour train journey to do so will be well worth it. Best brunch I've ever had, both times, three years apart.

Having had a number of lovely brunches here, we booked dinner for four last night. What a wonderful experience. The food - small plates - was absolutely delicious and good value. Real thought has gone into the menu and the food is presented exceptionally. Great cocktails and a small (i.e. easy to navigate) and good value wine list. The service from the front-of-house was also excellent. We've already booked a return visit for a birthday - and I'll post some pictures then of the food. Can't wait. Highly recommended.

Popped in for some brunch, wow! The decor and atmosphere was good! Amazing fresh coffee served, complimentary water - and the breakfast was sooo tasty! Definitely recommend! It was a little pricey but worth every penny and would 100% go again!

Nice shop with lovely staffs but the food is tiny and therefore expensive. The food is good but as mentioned it was tiny. We paid GBP45 (18 for beef salad, 14 for jalapino eggs, and 8 for the chacuterie, plus gratuity) and left still hungry. The food menu is limited so we decided to get ourselves full elsewhere.

Delicious brunch in a cool setting! Staff members were kind but we did have to wait quite a while for things like being seated (although we did have a reservation) and getting the bill. Loved the pride decorations!

Came in for evening meal, food was awesome. Delicious cocktails, warm atmosphere. We were served by a young man with hair in a bun. Very friendly and answered questions we had about a dessert. However atmosphere was completely ruined by who I assumed was the manager, having a pop at the young man who served us right in front of the kitchen and in front of a few tables who were all looking. Felt so uncomfortable to watch and listen to and put us off completely. I won't be returning as I don't feel compelled to give money to someone who feels it's okay to treat staff this way. If you have a problem sort it out privately instead of making a spectacle trying to make yourself look big in front of guests, not good management. Poor guy looked like he handled it well but noone should be treated like that. If that's how this bloke treats staff in front of people who knows what he's like behind closed doors. Shame because the food and service from everyone but him was great.

Just fantastic! I have been here three times recently, twice for brunch and once for coffee & cake. The staff here are so friendly, you can tell they are happy to be working in such a gorgeous space and seem to have really good friendships, which adds to the wholesome vibe of the café. The interior is stylish but welcoming, and there are some smaller tables out front for enjoying good weather. The matcha latte here is seriously good - I have enjoyed both the hot and iced versions. The vanilla syrup even has real beans in it!!! Everything is served quickly on beautiful crockery and with glamorous touches, such as edible flowers. It’s a very Instagram-friendly spot 😉 The food is delicious - I loved the avocado toast (though the portion size could have been a bit bigger!) and the lavender/lemon loaf cake was divine. The vegetarian full breakfast is incredible and great value (possibly the best halloumi I’ve had at a restaurant!) I can’t wait to come back here to try more of the menu, including the lunch options. I would not hesitate to come back here or to recommend it to anyone 😇🌸

It’s an okay place, not that bad at all, but if I’d reviewed this cafe this time last year it’d have been a five star. Think they have changed the menu/ingredients on what I had. We went from “can’t wait to go there” to “we won’t go back”.

Gem in the lanes! This place has always been a great coffee shop but the evening menu is really special! Would highly recommend - great food, lovely staff and a wide selection of fantastic wines and cocktails!

We visited here after reading several reviews and we were not disappointed! Although busy, we found a table straight away and having a small dog with us was no problem. Staff were incredibly friendly. We ordered and the drinks came came out in a few minutes before the best presented breakfasts we've had in a long time, it almost felt like a crime to eat them, and they tasted just as good. We chose to sit outside and blankets were available if we needed them. Definitely worth the visit.

Food was luke warm at best, poached eggs were hard, potatoes were not even luke warm,seating was poor 1 man on a table for 4 table a table allegedly reserved was still unused when we left. Lost in the lanes while waiting for my friends and ended up ironically in this beautiful cafe called Lost in the lanes, tried their chai latte and it was lush. The atmosphere is very aesthetic and picturesque

The venue is very pretty, and the food and drink were okay, but they we felt really let down my the service. Appreciate they were busy on the day we came in - but the staff greeted us in a very off putting way,, vaguely cold way - like they were annoyed to have more customers. Getting seated took a long time, even though we had a reservation and we could see lots of empty tables - and then ordering and receiving our food took ages. My friend ordered avocado toast & orange juice, I ordered a coffee. My coffee came quickly, but didn't taste very nice. Her food and drink took ages - we assumed they were going to bring it all out at the same time, and that's why her orange juice hadn't arrived yet - but no, the toast came out and still no drink. It was about 40 minutes until she had both - not sure why they wouldn't bring the drink out first. Overall, not a great experience so won't return, mainly due to quality of food and coldness/slowness of service.

Had 3 small plates the charcuterie was miniscule for £8.00 . The potatoes wasn't to my taste . But I expect if I'm paying £22.00 for lunch no drink Inc to leave and be full . Online it states they do brunch till 3pm when I asked she said it finished at 12 .

We stopped here for brunch on a whim yesterday and were so glad we did! We were told there'd be a long wait at first, but then they were actually able to seat us within minutes. Our server was extremely courteous and friendly, and the food and drinks were excellent. Highly recommend the vegan breakfast plate.

This is one of the most relaxed and friendly restaurants in the UK. This was my first time in Brighton, so please forgive me if my praise here is a natural thing but I doubt it. Spacious and not overly decorative, it made us feel so relaxed. We waited a little for our meals, but who cares? Great food takes time. You can see how beautiful in my picture and the taste was impressive. We shared our meal and noticed how wide the range of tastes was, I could see how proud the chefs were of their work. My lovely RATATOUILLE was a bit spicy but when I mixed it with dill yoghurt it strung perfect harmony of spicy and sour. I must say, and this is why I wrote this review. Our server ADI was an amazing person. My friend had been here before and told me how helpful and conceivable FOH was, so my expectations were already high, but ADI exceeded them. It's hard to express how ADI wonderful person was, but I didn't feel like I was just a customer, ADI entertained us as humans or neighbours. Plus not just for us, but for everyone including coworkers. It's difficult to maintain such an attitude with the crowds and a lot of tourists in Brighton, we really admire ADI. Definitely comeback

Go for the beetroot salad and foccacia bread. Delicious. Lovely relaxed decor. For 5 star rating choose a table away from the open kitchen if you are fussy about your clothes and hair smelling of cooking ( prob just me tbf).

Very nice Father's Day breakfast

Just had some coffee and it was delicious. And I work in a coffee shop where I thought our coffee was unbeatable… this was also very very good coffee!

What a delightful place, lovely ambience, friendly service and the vegan breakfasts were exceptional. The coffees were so good too. Will definitely be coming back.

I can’t describe how much we enjoyed our dinner here, thoroughly delicious food, great wine and lovely atmosphere. Food portions are generous and lots of variety across the menu. Stand out dhsies included the clams, the steak, the lamb, the haricot, the desserts, well, all of them really!

I always loved this place! In my opinion it had the best breakfast in brighton. But today visited this place again and got disappointed. They changed their breakfast and it didn’t taste like before :( idk if the chef changed or not but it was a big dissapointment. The potato was not cripsy, tomato was not fresh the taste of mushroom changed
