Excellent service and food can't wait to return

For Valentines Day, I treated my wife to an Afternoon Chai Tea and cocktails. From the welcome, the ambience, the chefs, the quality of the food to the service, all were excellent. Certainly recommend you try Prahnas.. You will not be disappointed.

Had the afternoon chai here previously and loved it, but they've completely changed the menu and it's rubbish now!

Beautiful lunch with a few additions to the menu. Salmon bowl delicious and naan sandwich fab as always.

Fantastic new take on the Indian cousine. Creative dishes, beautifully served by a very friendly staff. Had a great night!

Great food and excellent customer service

We tried the Indian afternoon tea. As an afternoon tea aficionado, this was such a unique treat! A perfect blend of Indian flavours with quintessential British favourites. The desserts were particularly enjoyable. The masala tea was also good. The price is very reasonable for the amount of food you get. The place looks quite pretty and service was great, too. Would recommend for a special event.

Great food - great ambience and a welcoming team made this a memorable dinner. Menu is modern touch on Indian food and that on its own is excitingly different. I thought that the menu was a bit on the light side and missing a few of the classics like tandoori or makni. However the taste of the balance more than made up for the light menu. Must say that presentation was brilliant. We had various dishes and while all we excellent the Lamb biryani was a winner. Will be back next time we in Edinburgh.

Had a great lunch which is not straight curry’s but more small hip street plates. Very friendly.

Joke of a place from start to finish. Never answer the phone to book so ended up booking a table online then phoned to confirm it was afternoon tea we were after. Colleague was adamant I didn't have a booking until I read out the booking confirmation reference. Then said they had two different booking systems and hadn't bothered checking the other system. Told him I wanted to give them advance notice that we wanted afternoon tea as online doesn't ask what booking type you want. When I turn up at our booking time colleague then again says we don't have afternoon tea booked. When I explained the situation his attitude was a disgrace. Sat us down and continued to talk to us with a poor attitude. We asked for menus for afternoon tea to be told they didn't have any. No offer of any kind of tes or hot drink. Staff didn't know what tea options were available. Ended up walking out as service a d attitude were disgusting and they don't deserve our business or hard earned cash.

Best Indian food I've had, ever I think the lamb shank and lamb gosht were just next level.

Prahna was a perfect venue for our Walking Football team’s Christmas Social. Arun, Liam and the team were happy to accommodate all our requirements. They served up platters of tasty samosas and bowls of delicious curries with generous amounts of naan and rice as accompaniment. Just as importantly, they kept the drink flowing. We had a great afternoon. Apologies to the early evening diners if we got a little too loud at times!

Everything is really right here. Exceptionally good food, great service and the decor with the floral ceiling is really awesome. We had a great end to the days in Edinburgh. The platter for 2 was to die for and had great flavors. The greeting from the kitchen is something other than the papadam that we usually always have. Thank you very much 🙏

The staff are amazing, very attentive. We had our toddler with us and they engaged with him, letting him play make noise. This made us feel so much more comfortable. The cocktails were great, complimentary appetiser from the kitchen, starters, mains and desert, all of it was delicious, arrived quickly and well presented. I would highly recommend it, it’s perfect for families which makes it a hit for us as we go everywhere with our baby.

It was amazing the staff was friendly and attentive, the food was ever better the only thing I was disappointed in was that they were out of Masala Chai and I was really looking forward to it , I guess I just have to go back.

We found this restaurant by chance, and we are glad we did. The fusion Indian food is delicious, spiced right and not heavy or oily. We liked the Grilled scallops and Monkfish tikka. We found the portions the right size, and the service was friendly and engaging.

I’ve had afternoon tea, and this is better; brilliant Indian flavors coupled with the elegance and class of afternoon tea, top-notch staff! They had this pumpkin pastry that was out of this world! Staff was extremely friendly, desires our input on pastries and food quality, personally spoke to us. Been to afternoon tea in London, and this was by a fair measure superior to our experience there, and very nearly half the price to boot!

I love to try Indian food all around the World - from Delhi, Kolkata, Varanasi, Jakarta, Bali, San Francisco, and obviously from Warsaw, where I live. I know there is a lot of Indian people in the UK and Scotland, so I couldn't wait to taste my beloved dishes also in Edinburgh. I am not disappointed. The Prahna restaurant has all flavours it should have as a 4,8/5 rating place. Simply delicious! And that ceiling!! :)

We had Purana Restaurant cater for both the pre-wedding Ladies’ Sangeet on the 22nd of September 2024 and our daughter’s wedding on the 23rd, and I am beyond impressed! First, a huge shout-out to **Arun**, the owner, who completely smashed it on both days! He and his team took care of every little detail, making sure everything was flawless from start to finish. Arun’s dedication and hands-on approach truly made both events a grand success. The food across both days was absolutely amazing. From the vibrant and festive Sangeet night to the elegant wedding reception, the chefs at Purana created a menu that left all our guests raving. The dishes were bursting with flavor, and the presentation was top-notch. We received endless compliments from our guests, many saying it was some of the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding! A massive thanks to all the staff who worked their socks off to ensure everything ran smoothly. First time trying Prahna Grill. We tried it after seeing all the positive reviews. We had the starter of cheesy black pepper chicken tikka. It was the best part of the meal. Slightly crisp outside from the grill and soft and tender. This was followed by a lovely prawn curry. However the raan a prahna lacked flavour. The service was not very good but I am hoping that they were maybe having an off day. It is expensive. A starter, two mains, rice and naan and 1 drink came to about £68.

We managed to get a walk-in table and the meal was fabulous. The area was really wonderfully decorated and the staff were very attentive.

One of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to. Ambience is cozy and tasteful. Speaking of taste - this was absolutely top notch, and the service and staff friendliness added to the overall experience. So many interesting choices on the menu.

Fantastic meal to celebrate a special occasion. Food was delicious, service was faultless and beautiful restaurant. Didn't catch the waiters name but they were especially welcoming and set the vibe, even cracked us up with a very subtle joke. All the staff were lovely.

Very tasty food but portion sizes were a bit below average for the price. I was still hungry at the end so don't under order. £3 for a tiny roti. Only had Cobra on tap that night. Service was very good.

It has been more than pleasant to dine there (3 times I’m one weeks time). The curry dish with duck is the best we have had in lifetime 🤩👌‼️ A very very pleasant place to stay and dine out Indian food!!!!

Wow. What a meal. The atmosphere was lovely, the music and the vibe. Dishes cooked beautifully, the lamb and chicken were both tender. The dishes were very tasty, full of flavour.

Great food. We sat right next to the chef's window which was a little hot and the aircon wasn't working even after having asked which took the edge off. Avoid those seats!!

This is an Indian restuarant with a difference. Went there for the first time on Sunday for Breakfast. Delightful experience - beautiful environment, delicious food, fab friendly waiters and at an affordable price. Would highly recommend - can't wait to return there for dinner or Afternoon Chai!

Great restaurant in West Edinburgh (prob one of highlights). Really nice food, and particularly good if you like Indian fish or seafood dishes. Always packed - service friendly but just occasionally just a touch over-stretched. Not your cheapeat Indian, but you get what you pay for here - I think it's worth the small premoum

Have been recommending to friends and family and would definitely return in a heartbeat.

A medium sized, beautifully decorated place. Had Spinach and Apricot Tikki - must try, it’s good and a bit different from usual dishes. Also had Aachari Bhindi and Dal, the food didn’t have excessive oil and tastes good. You can also try Masala chai - amazing taste, not from machine.

Busy restaurant on the west side of Edinburgh. Some classic Indian restaurant curries along with many innovative Indian style dishes.

First time here but definitely not the last. Fantastic hosting by the lovely staff and the food was delicious to boot. Came with family for my daughters birthday and as we'd not been before our waiter described all the dishes and made some recommendations which we tried. We started with grilled lamb chops and Corstorphine chicken tikka with gun powder potatoes. Lovely succulent meat perfectly grilled and spiced. Moving on to the mains, we ordered lamb rogan josh, nalli ka gosht Hyderabadi chicken biryani and some salad. Food arrived not too long after. All the dishes were beautifully presented and tasted divine. Kids are usually non commital but both were very happy and really appreciated their dishes. The Wife also was very impressed and suggested that Prahna would be our local from now on. Praise indeed, so congratulations to all on a job very well done.

We go regularly to this restaurant, This time the experience was horrible. I booked on phone the afternoon tea for 6 of us 1day before as recommended on the website, when I reached with my friends and family the waiter said there are only 3 afternoon tea left, when I asked how this can happen and what’s the point of booking 1 day before, the guy said I called you this morning and you didn’t pickup the phone, I couldn’t believe what he was saying, I got little mad and the guy said I am not going to serve you, and we had to leave the restaurant. It does not worth spoiling your time and loading your mind even though the food is good. I can’t understand how this guy survive in service industry with his attitude. I highly recommend avoiding this place.

We had breakfast here and it was absolutely delicious! The flavours of all of the dishes were exquisite and nothing like I’ve ever had before! The servers were so friendly and we had a lovely breakfast! I had the best chai tea ever here too!

The place is good although limited options for vegetarians. The vegetarian dishes we had was very tasty and very friendly staff. Amazing naan bread and the dessert was delicious. Must try the kulfi moose and chocolate semi fredo!!. However the portion Size for the main dishes could be slightly bigger!! The complimentary golgappa was yummy!! My boys loved it.

Had another tasty meal with family and friends the food was off the scale delicious - every dish was - I had the lucknow lamb it was very very nice - we also had some piña colada’s they were so good. The service and atmosphere is great - everything made with love and passion which you can see and taste! Well done tram Prana

I am always skeptical at perfect reviews….. This is where my skepticism ends. This place is truly a gem. From the staff to the food everything was amazing. The flavors were well blended and very savory. The spice was not unbalanced with the dish. The depth of the flavors was a real joy to the taste buds. Thanks to the staff for taking care of me for my birthday.

All 10. The food, the attention and the place. A good idea to have dinner here on our first night in the city. It was in front of our hotel and without a reservation they attended us despite it being full. A wait of barely 10 minutes and we were seated at a table. They previously offered complimentary juice to our little son. The truth is that it is one of the best Indian restaurants we have visited on our trips around the world! We would love to return ♥️

Amazing food, great service and absolutely loved the ambience.. visiting from USA and this is one of best Indian restaurants I have been to so far.. tried gun powder potato, monk fish tikka, grilled prawns, konkani fish & chicken dum biryani.. konkani fish being my favorite each and every dish is presented well and tasted great!

First and foremost, Prahna is spelled as Prana inside the restaurant. My family came here for dinner and we found our experience to be average. The place is small yet bustling on a weeknight even and the ambience and decor are top-notch. However we found the taste of the food to be mostly middling and the portions were quite small for the prices being charged. The menu options are also very limited and the servers kept forgetting to bring serving spoons for the dishes that were being brought out. How is anyone supposed to serve themselves without serving spoons? Anyways, we returned from our experience somewhere in between overwhelmed and underwhelmed.

Went here with family and friends, food choices on some of the menu are tailored to Scottish tastes. Menu is quite unique for an Indian but in a good way. I found the standard of the food excellent overall. A real bustle to the atmosphere as it's a busy place but it all adds to the enjoyment. You do need to book as its nearly always well booked up in advance. Good location as its easy to find and on a main public transport route if your not driving. Highly recommended 😊

Came across from the Netherlands to meet my parents and hand dinner here for a catch up. Lovely staff, very friendly. Food was incredible and very fresh. Even on a busy and packed Saturday night we didn't have to wait long at all for anything.
