Durbar Indian Kitchen & Bar in Edinburgh, City of

It's spacious with good ambiance and it's near to Shandwick Place bus stop. We tried tangadi kebab and chicken sheekh kebab for starters & garlic, chilli cheese naan, chicken junglee gravy for main. All the dishes were kinda okay but wasn't warm except to the naan, which made the dinning experience little bad.

A beautiful meal with very polite and attending staff, it really does live up to its rating. The food is amazing and I can really recommend Dhal Makani and Lamb Biryani. The interior is stunning but the only thing I would change is the music choice, for me, it didn't feel aligned to the sophisticated meal, environment and experience. The waiters and who appeared to be the owner were exceptional.

Small but exciting menu with dishes that have been chosen to represent authentic Indian cuisine. Taste buds were given a real treat tonight. If you want to venture away from Chicken Tikka Masala and try something a little different then give this place a try, we were impressed!

2 of us came for dinner, and the food was delicious with loads of veggies and vegan options as well as meaty classics. Very nice interior design, very clean, and attentive staff polite and happy to advise and suggest! Would recommend and visit again. £66 for drinks, 2 starters, 2 mains, 1 dessert.

The food was amazing and my server Kushal was a polite gentleman with a lot of knowledge of the cuisine. Definitely one guy who u should ask for the best recommendations to eat.

One of the best Indian restaurants I have been to in Scotland & England put together. Absolutely fantastic service from Kush. His brother was too polite & kind. Food was amazing. No complaints on any of the dishes we ordered ( fish curry, dal, rice, garlic naan, papad, dum aloo etc). Time taken for the order was pleasantly surprising. The location is great & the place has a vibe!

Everythig was amazing, from the quality of the food, the flavours, the excellent service, the great timely manner in which the food was brought out. From the beginning to the end, everything was 10/10.

Really enjoyed our 2nd meal at the Durbar Indian Kitchen. Kush and the team looked after us really well. Food was excellent and in particular the bread pakora, butter chicken and fish curry. We will definitely be back to try out the new menu.

Amazing food!!! We tried some of the newest menu items at the recommendation of Kush and were so happy we did! The bread pakora and pani puri appetizers were so flavorful, as was the malai kofta. We don't live in the area but will definitely be back next time we visit!

We had dinner late January 2024 and they were about to bring in a new menu- the place was a little quiet, but the food and service authentic and genuine. Definitely take Kush's recommendations on the menu!

Called in for dinner as was near our hotel and had good reviews, very glad we did. The menu was modern and excellent. We tried a few different meat and vegetarian options and they were all superb. Our waiter was really friendly and very attentive. We paid our bill, left a well deserved tip and were treated to a free dessert each. We both agreed it was one of the best curries we’ve had in a very long time.

It was my first ever time in Indian restaurant and I am not familiar with Indian food. I was served by Kush and he introduced me with the menu. There was plenty of vegetarian dishes but as I am not a vegetarian I wanted something else. Kush explained me what every food contains, are they spicy or not and finally I decided to take chicken which was an excellent choice. Service was really good, food was excellent and atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely.

Not been here in a few years but it’s good to see it’s still popular and still providing excellent food and great service to customers.

Such a delicious,amazing and something new indian style food,There are many options for vegetarians like Baingan bartha,Ambel,Chhole bhatura,Kadhai paneer.in breads also many Varaitise like Aloo kulcha,onion kulcha,Puri. And fantastic service by Kush,He recommend some dish like Tangdi Kabab,Chhole bhatura,Laal maas as per Kush told me like they decided their manu like all over Indian curry in one manu.I really enjoyed with my wife and thank you again Kush for the great recommendations and fantastic service.Well done Kush.

Limited menu that is outstanding. I'm a huge curry fan and decent cook when it comes to this style. Durbar nails it. Just needs to feel a bit less like a production line and would be easy 5 star.

Everything perfect, good price and moreover the service is excellent!

We went there on New Year's Eve and could get a table without reservation (phew!) Our server Kush had excellent suggestions and the food was really good especially the biryani.

Absolutely great Indian restaurant. Really good value for what you get and all the dishes are very unique compared to what I'd expect for a usual Indian. We had a waiter called Kush as our server and he recommended the Achari naan, chana chaat samosa and then the junglee and laal mas curries and every single thing he said we should try was great. I love Indian restaurants like this. Amazing service

Excellent Indian restaurant with great options for vegetarians as well, very friendly and pleasing staff, quick service and a beautiful ambience to have a sit down dinner. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our meal with this restaurant after a long travel. Felt at home with the hospitality.

Food was good. Authentic Indian Restaurant. Biriyani was good but a little bit sour. Did not like the mixed grill because Lamb tikka was hard. Garlic naan and tandoori naan good. Bharta was nice.

We have walked passed this place numerous times,looked at the menu and said it looks nice BUT never tried it until recently.They have some very interesting things on the menu that's different from the usual.We cannot fault the food at all it was amazing and extremely tasty.The restaurant itself was well decorated and spacious BUT,the only thing that stopped the 5 ⭐️ rating was that the service was REALLY SLOW and it wasn't busy as we had gone mid-week.But despite that we would still go back as genuinely the food was that good.

The food was really tasty. However, the portion size are really small. I had a starter, main meal and a side and left still hungry and stop off at McDonald's on the way back to my hotel for a large fries. I wasn't very happy about that.

We recently had a dinner here and I must say the quality of the indian food is authentic and awesome. Worth the price you are paying for. Service is good and the spice level is what you expect from an authentic Indian restaurants (not like others where we get very less spicy food)

Best curry I have tasted in a long time. Pilau rice cooked with Ghee Superb pakora. You need to visit this place. Kush is a legend and the other staff are lovely. I'll be back next time I'm in Edunburgh. 👍👍

The restaurant is located in the center of the city. As soon as you enter you immediately notice how clean the place is. The staff is very kind above all, Jeet is a really friendly person and professional guy, he advised me what to eat and I ate very well, the price is also affordable, I recommend this restaurant.

Celebrated our daughters 18th birthday. The staff were lovely and the food superb, very tasty, hot and full of flavour. This would be a regular haunt if we didn't live so far away. Definitely recommend.

Had the lunch menu which was lovely. Also tried the pani puri which was delicious. Service was great too. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

Fabulously fresh find with to die for Mango lassi. Unfortunately only found it on our last day in Edinburgh otherwise we would have returned for a second visit.

One of the best Indian food I had in whole of United Kingdom. Tbh I haven't had this kind of soft Naan and kulcha even in india... so guys it's a must try for all. It's pocket friendly and the staff is super friendly. Thanks jeet for recommendations and the service. Hats off guys.

My friend shared this restaurant with me and indeed it didn’t disappoint. I had the best briyani. Kush, the restaurant manger, was really helpful and provided excellent service! Hope to visit again to have the briyani again.

We noticed this menu looked good, and seeing Indian folks eating there told us it was probably a good call. Did not disappoint. Got the butter chicken (basic, I know) and it was phenomenal. Nice set meal for lunch for 12 pounds. Included masala chai which was delicious. Would recommend!
