We came here to feature this truly wonderful restaurant for the TV broadcast Moreish TV and thought you should all know that this awesome Indian restaurant is by far one of the best if not the best we have tasted as the food is lighter and not packed with oil on the plates dishes Poppadoms with the little dip bowls on the dip tray to kick things off and each dip was perfect to accompany the Crispy poppadoms Starters great choices so we tried out Chucjen Pakora under the small dish section, nothing greasy but instead easy to consume filled with delicious melt in your mouth chicken breast with a delicious sauce and salad garnish and next was the Lamb Seekh Kebab on the Durbar special grills section with a delicious sauce to dip or pour over with garnish salad and these kebabs are truly tender and slowly gives a nice n spicy kick soon after the first initial bit absolute wonderful The Mains we tried were the Butter Chicken with Palau Rice and Keema Naan and the dish has tender pieces if delicious tender chicken breast in a wonderful Creamy sauce and it's very lightly spiced giving it the best flavours including cashew that simply dance on the palate, then next we tried the Lam

It was really amazing service just flipped down cause of undercoooed chicken tangidi but was replaced with fresh well done it was amazing experience love it….

Durbar was a fantastic spot to get delicious Indian food! Things we loved: - Chicken Shashlish - we ordered it as an appetizer - Butter Chicken - always delicious; enough for each of us to have 2 servings - Punjabi Nalli Gohst - we LOVE lamb and this was the star of the show for us; bone-in lamb shank that we shredded into the delicious curry sauce - Service was great - at times a bit slow but definitely faster than is typical at similar restaurants back in California - Clean, vibrant and nicely decorated dining atmosphere Things we would change (if we could): - wine by the glass offerings: there was just 1-2 of each varietal that you could order by the glass. - bathrooms were a bit lackluster and didn’t quite reflect the same level of attention given to the dining area. - we seemed to have a variety of servers which could be confusing when you’re trying to order more naan or rice.

Just come here if you really need to taste asian spices …very satisfied..highly recommended..

It was like a oasis on a cold wet winter's evening when we found the Durbar restaurant after being recommended it by the concierge at the Caledonian Hotel. Absolutely amazing dinner, authentic delicious food. Huge portions, lovely staff. The peshawari naan and pilau rice was particularly good. We had a LOT of food and drinks, and it came to just £30 per person. I couldn't recommend Durbar more!

We ate very well in this restaurant! We had the butter chicken and it was a real delight. I also recommend the cheese nan which was very good. We feel that the products are of quality. The service was also perfect, the waiters were very kind and professional. I would point out that everything was quite spicy.

A very busy Rugby Saturday night - we had pre-booked. Great service even though it was so busy - waiter still took time to answer questions and make recommendations. The Lamb Shank Gosht was listed as 'Melt in the mouth' and it did not disappoint. Some places use 'busy' weekends as a reason that their service is not as it should be. 'Team Durbar' delivered a great experience for us on Saturday and all with a smile on their face. Thank you

Ate here last night after reading all the 5 star reviews. Very disappointing indeed. Restaurant wasn’t busy so not much atmosphere but the real issue was the food. Poppadoms average and 4 dips, 3 of which were quite similar. Chicken saag and chicken rogan for mains and both dishes were quite bland. Also not a huge amount of chicken in either. Server was very pleasant and the naan bread was good. Wouldn’t go back. Pricey enough - bill for 2 with 2 glasses of wine, no starters, was £60.

I went here in a group of 4 and we all enjoyed ourselves. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. Our bellies were full but we wanted to keep going. We will definitely return.

We wanted to try a new Indian tonight and decided upon here based on the excellent reviews. It's not local for us but we were glad we drove a little further a field as this is the best Indian food we have had in a long time. All dishes were delicious. We realised the poppadoms were missing from the order when we got home and despite them only being £2, a member of staff drove them out to us which was greatly appreciated. Excellent service and food. We will definitely be back and look forward to exploring more of the menu.

Tried this place for the first time tonight and it was amazing. Delicious food and lovely service. We had the biryani, butter chicken and peshwari. All some (if not one) of the best we have had. Will recommend to all our family and friends and will definitely be back to try more dishes.

We visited on 9th Jan firstly we was not comfortable but after indian tea ....I haven't any words we gone for only tea but we had to many things that was amazing test bread pakoda? No words even no one can beat in test. Special bhel quantities was small but test was very huge....one guy who served us he is very humble and helpful person....

When they got back they told me that the food was really good - cooked properly and very tasty with touch of ‘home cooked’ for good measure! They really enjoyed the meal and said the people serving the food were polite and engaged in interesting conversation. Best of all, they found out it is dog friendly so said that next time they go they’ll take me along too!! They said that they would totally recommend this restaurant if you’re on a visit to Edinburgh.

We chose this restaurant for a dinner meal primarily because of its 4.8 Google rating, and the food truly lived up to this rating. Absolutely delicious! We had Butter Chicken, Daal Makhani, Bhindi Masala, Laal Maas, Paneer Garlic, Kadai Paneer, Butter Naan, Lachha Paratha (the best), and Tandoori Roti. The service was great, the staff was friendly, and the ambiance was pleasant. So, we returned the following day and did not regret it. Ten of us enjoyed the meal twice during our 4-night stay in Edinburgh. If you're in town and looking for an authentic Indian meal, this is the place I would highly recommend.

An excellent restaurant with lot of options to look at. We usually order non vegetarian but on my daughter’s request we ordered for Dal Makhani and it was delicious. The non vegetarian dishes tasted extra ordinary. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. It was truly a great experience

My husband and I were here for Christmas dinner. We enjoyed the butter chicken and chicken biryani. The biryani was spicy but good and the butter chicken was very tasty. I loved the garlic naan, as well.
