Fabulous! Nice atmosphere, superb service and delicious food. A true highlight! Absolutely worth a short bus ride out from the center ( bus stop in front of the door…)

I needed to stop at a store nearby, so my visit was pure accident, but I've been in Edinburgh for a little over a week and this is by far my favorite restaurant so far. The food is amazing--go with the recommendations and be honest about what your palate can handle--and the wonderful people who work there are so attentive and friendly. The pictures are also spot on. It's a lovely atmosphere. Definitely try it if you like this cuisine. :)

The food was delicious and it tasted amazing. Authentic Indian food is made with spices and herbs and Gautam's didnt disappoint us. However, the service was very slow. We waited for about 30 to 40 minutes for the starters to be served and then another 20 minutes for mains. My son was extremely hungry and waited for long for the food to arrive. The staff was polite and checked on us several times post the food arrived. I would definately reccomend this restuarant.

So glad this is our local restaurant! We have been coming since they open up years ago, our favourite Indian/Nepalese restaurant in town, food is tasty and portions are generous, prices are reasonable and service is great and attentive.

We arrived in Edinburgh on friday evening and my friend had booked a table. What a beutiful restaurant. Fantastic service from start to finish and the food was amazing. It was fully booked but we did not have any waiting times on our food or drinks. It was tye best pathia i ever had and the lamb just melted in my mouth. Mango pina colada is a must too. Thank you for our great first evening in the city

We ate here and were so pleased to find reasonable prices and wonderful food. My friend had never had Indian food and LOVED it! The atmosphere was also clean and beautiful. Clean bathrooms as well and friendly staff.

Lamb biriyani and chicken taka was delicious. Servers were very kind and helpful. Atmosphere is warm and romantic.

Wow - what a restaurant. Gautam's has it all: incredible food (including delicious & plentiful veggie options), brilliantly attentive & friendly staff, great look & feel about the place and a lively atmosphere. I was even pleasantly surprised with the bill. I've been a couple of times now - once with friends and once with family and everyone has remarked on how fantastic the restaurant experience and food is. This is my new favourite curry house in Edinburgh! I'm *very* happy to be a 5 minute walk away!

Guatam's is a great restaurant. The lamb shank is to die for and the mixed starters are another delight. Great value as well with friendly attentive service. You'll visit more than once I'm sure.

Wow me and my partner went for our valentines meal. 10/10 place was so busy and we were still professionally seen to, food was outstanding and the cocktails were delish!! Came for dinner, the food was great and reasonably priced. The atmosphere and service were great, we also got to try the valentines cocktail which was lovely. Only thing I could suggest is my curry was down as 2 chillies but was not spicy - still tasted great.

The staff were extremely attentive, so we wanted for nothing. The food was lovely, but not as spicey as we expected based on the rating of the chillies in the menu. The ambience is definitely second to none with great lighting and chic decor. We were also the first to try the Valentines cocktail!! It was amazing. I would HIGHLY recommend. Thank you team Gautam's. I will be back when in Scotland.

Super cozy restaurant, we had a selection of vegetarian curries and the vegetable momos with sides of pilau rice and peshwari naan and everything was soo delizious! Good menu for vegetarians and staff was super lovely and attentive making sure we had everything we needed and that we liked the food (Which we did:-))

What an incredible experience…. I can not recommend this place to you highly enough I recommend it to you unreservedly! From the moment you step in through the door you are instantly captured & carried away into an experience like no other. Having had food from Nepal before and in particular the Ghurka community down south in Surrey & Sussex I was extremely excited to stumble upon this & sample the cultural dishes again. Lauren was kind, welcoming, approachable knowledgeable, all heart & made the experience even more memorable! Her recommendations of dishes were spot on. The food is delicious, rich & full of flavour & the portion sizes are more than substantial The quality of the lamb on the bone was the best lamb shank I’ve had in my life The owner made us feel so special as we walked in & every part of the service was wonderful… Ps. Do not be worried about spice or heat - try and dish be adventurous & ask them to adjust your spice level if you need it Thank you - can not wait to come again when we are next here! This is our local takeaway, but we had a sit in meal for the first time. Food was excellent, staff couldn't have been nicer, and the restaurant looks great since the refurb. We're looking forward to going back.

A hidden gem, sadly placed out of the centre so doesn’t not receive the recognition it deserves. Food was fantastic and served in great portions. The drinks were served beautifully and are well thought out from the fantastic barman Abilash. The service was fantastic: I had the pleasure of being served by Somu, James and Lauren. Who all went above and beyond to ensure the best customer service you could ask for. I would highly recommend this restaurant to family and friends!

I go here a lot with my friends and we love it. Tonight I went with my family and had the warmest welcome with everyone bring so kind to my little girl. The food as always was delicious and reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

Lovely decor, so stylish and bright. All the food we ordered was so delicious! Slow cooked lamb shank was particularly good...so rich and tender. They offer kids meals too and my 10yo loved butter chicken and naan bread. I'm so delighted to have this lovely restaurant in my neighborhood 😍

Truly wonderful! Definitely recommended. We were here in August of 2022 during our last visit to beautiful Edinburgh and loved the food back then. Came back today to a positive surprise. The restaurant has been completely remodeled in the meantime and looks stunning and is very comfortable. The food is still just as delicious and the service also still excellent. Next time we’re in Edinburgh we’ll be back! Cheers!

Amazing place, really good food with good sized portions, good choice for vegetarians. Service was amazing from everyone but especially from Abhilash who was really thoughtful and made the whole visit very special. We will definitely be back.

Due to its size , and it gets busy quickly you're limited to about 2 hours, which is still enough time to have a meal and a few drinks .WELL WORTH A VISIT.

My biggest regret of my Edinburgh trip is that I didn't get a chance to eat here again! From the CHEF’S MIXED STARTER to the HIMALAYAN HOT POT CHICKEN, the food was absolutely divine! The service was amazing and everyone throughout the night was so thoughtful and kind in their service! If you are going to Edinburgh, you must stop here!

Lamb was excellently cooked. Sauces were delicious. Generous portions for poppadoms, naan, starters and mains. Good drinks selection as well.

Visting from Peebles. Takeaway service was highly recommended by family living locally. Surprisingly then that this was the worst take away I`ve ever had.King prawn balti came with a kind of chickpea sauce.Both main courses lacked spice and seasoning and were bland.Nan bread was very disappointing.We won` be back.

The food was good but not WOW as other reviews have suggested, though it's worth noting I'm not a curry connossieur so I'd still recommend trying for yourself. The new decor is great and the restaurant had a great atmosphere - super busy & bustling on a Friday night - would be great for a birthday party or family get together. They also have their own cocktails which is cool. One little disappointment was we were sat at 7pm but didn't get our mains until half 8. I think we ate our starters at a normal pace (these came super quick!). According to our booking we were supposed to give our table back at half 8 so it felt a bit strange. Also got ignored by server at one point but accept it was super busy & it's hard for them during a rush. Otherwise the staff were really polite/friendly. I think the decor/vibe is a big selling point and they've done that brilliantly.

We regularly attend Gautams for food and it’s always fantastic! This time we tried the cocktails and we can 100% recommend them; they’re 10/10. The bar man that night was a credit to the establishment and we can’t recommend Gautams enough.

Now look here. This restaurant is the real deal. It's got it all: quaint Nepalese atmosphere, mouthwatering food, and the friendliest servers and floor manager. From reception to us leaving Suman (codename Superman) took care of us and gave us recommendations, based on our preferences of protein and spice level. I love lamb and I love spicy food, so I had the lamb Gohst and let me tell you - it was amazing. Slow-cooked to perfection, it came off the bone without me needing to engage the knife at the side of my dish. All in all, I would say this restaurant has firmly established itself as my favourite for when I'm craving South Asian cuisine.

£30 Food arrived little warm & 20min late than described (1hr5min instead of 45min), distance 5min drive/15min walk. Barely got chance to taste the flavours of chicken saag, saag paneer & pilau rice due to low temperature of the dishes.

Went here recently with a group of friends and we left full and very satisfied. The food was very tasty and ranks among the best curry houses in Edinburgh. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service was surprisingly quick for such a busy restaurant. Our server Lauren took great care of us and gave us great recommendations for food and drinks. Will definitely be back - 10/10!

An awesome experience from start to finish! For a start, Gautam's is a lovely neighbourhood Indian/Nepalese restaurant and feels authentic. The atmosphere is wonderful - thanks to the alluring decor & layout, so cosy and bustling, with good acoustics and so immaculately clean. And the team are impeccable - from the immediate, warm welcome at the door to the really attentive & friendly waiting staff and superb chefs. We had a special request and they went out of their way to accommodate us. As for the menu, it's not just an endless list of dishes. Each offering is described to render them imaginable & mouth-watering. And finally, the food was absolutely divine!! A 10/10 score is so deserved. We loved every minute of our visit and are already actively planning our next one!

Second time coming here for a sit down meal. Great atmosphere, staff very friendly, and quick service (it was a Saturday night, so pretty rammed!). The food was delicious, happily took leftovers home for next day's lunch. Definitely coming back again 🙂.

The restaurant lost our orders and we had to order the whole thing again (about 9 items), so we were least pleased. We got our drinks only after half an hour. Food was brought much later. The waitress said they would offer a discount (my partner says she said 10% off, which I missed), but in the end they charged us the full price, and even expected us to tip them. The food was good but very expensive for what it is. The momos aren't the best (I grew up eating momos). Also, congested tables.

Gautam's but It was a wonderful discovery because the food it's simply extraordinary! We took chicken tikka, lamb and prawns (garlic naan and rice as well). Delicious! Mango lassie was very tasty 😋. Very good staff and beautiful place. Definitely we will be back ⭐.

We ordered the Butter Chicken, Chicken Momo (Nepalese dumpling), and Naan. The butter chicken was outstanding. Lightly spiced, creamy and mild. The naan was fresh and well-portioned, and the momo was a delightful flavor. Charming waitstaff. Highly recommended

Gautam is our favourite choice for an excellent evening meal - we have our favourite dishes, the staff is very friendly and helpful, music not too loud and the most importantly food is always delicious! We are eating here quite often and it is keeping a steady, high level. Highly recommend for a great, relaxed meal.

My favourite Indian in Edinburgh. The food is absolutely delicious. Sitting in or take away, you can't fault it. My only small gripe is there are no benefits or discounts for loyal customers. We order every week, so it would be nice to get a little something from time to time.
