Wow, it's been a long time since I've had such a great meal. The atmosphere was great. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The staff that we had were jolly and helpful. We booked, and it was a good job we did. I strongly recommend that if you want to go, you do the same.

Very tasty sauce and speedy delivery which is great, I do feel they are a bit light on their meat portions as I’ve ordered a couple of times and for the price you pay I’d expect a bit more lamb/chicken in my dishes but other than that very good

Really tasty Nepalese and Indian dishes with a great level of spices. They also have a kids menu with 2 Indian options and 1 British. Wine and mango lasso was also tasty. Would recommend and will be back!

We had a lovely meal here on our recent 3 day stay in Edinburgh. It was great to be out of the touristy area and eat in a restaurant that was clearly loved by locals. The lamb biryani was especially delicious. Staff were attentive in this atmospheric, lively restaurant!

Having visited several times since Gautams opening, I would recommend to anyone looking for a hearty meal. Great service and delicious food which hits the spot every time 😋 The new interior has given the place a very nice vibe! I’d also like to thank the hospitable staff member who served us last night, I can’t recall her full name but it definitely began with a T (Tammy maybe?)😅

Really good food and nicely decorated place, was my first time and been looking forward to trying here for a while, I ordered a chicken tikka balti which was medium spice and was lovely and just the right heat until I bit into a large green chilly and couldn’t eat anymore and unfortunately only got half ate before this happened, usually I would say something at the time but I couldn’t have spoken at that time, I was breathing fire haha. Would try again though some day.

One of the best Indians ever! A range of fantastic curries and affordable too. Perfect price-quality ratio and a cozy atmosphere in the restaurant! I highly recommend the saag aloo. Perfectly seasoned and very tasty

We have ordered Lamb Rogan Josh. The taste was very basic didn’t feel i am having rogan josh. Really disappointed.

An excellent evening meal. The menu is extensive, yet everything we had was top quality. The jalfrezi was the star of the show, with a perfect level of spice, flavour and consistency. We had an issue with a couple of things being missing when our mains were brought out (we ordered a lot to be fair) but this was resolved quickly and without any fuss. A special mention to the manager (?) for rearranging all of the plates so that everything fitted on our table! The only downside was that we waited a very long time between our starters and mains but it was busy.

Incredibly good Nepalese and Indian food! Very nice staff, and nice atmosphere. Good prices and it was great that you could make curries on the side - perfect when you want to try more dishes. Recommend the Paneer Makhni more garlic naan bread.

Biriyani takeaway was bland, even an egg would brighten it. Rice bit soggy and sauce boring. Needs zing.

in my opinion this is one of the best restaurants in the world. besides the point that the restaurant itself is gorgeous and you can tell a lot of thought was put into the interior design, the food is amazing. the vegetable pakoras are absolutely delicious. i very rarely order appetizers at any restaurant (i often find them overpriced and not so great) but the vegetable pakoras are my favorite item of the gautams menu and one of my favorite dishes ever. the mains are delicious as well - a lot of vegetarian items. the vegetarian curry is very good and if you don’t mind the spice the bombay aloo is amazing. the sides are incredible as well. i can never come without getting the mushroom rice and the garlic and cheese naan. i’m not a meat eater but the ones i’ve dined with loved the meat dishes as well. and if you’re the one for drinks, the sex on the Himalayas (a twist on sex on the beach) is my favorite cocktail ever and better than the og in my opinion. lastly, gautams is a gem to have in the neighborhood. i’ve discovered them less than a year ago and i’ve already dined with at least 10 time.

My mum and I are visiting Edinburgh and saw this wasn’t far from where we were staying so booked a table. It was very lively on a Saturday night and even though it was very very busy staff were attentive and happy to help. Food was really really good too! I’d recommend the Paneer Makhani

My family and I travelled to Edinburgh from Italy and ate at Gautam's twice ! The food we ordered was amazing with big portions and perfectly cooked chicken. Staff too was really nice to us. We did not reserve a table but it was no problem as in 15 minutes max we were seated. If you happen to visit Edinburgh and crave some Indian food, then Gautam's is spot on. Cool spot with cute decor! Delicious smells greet you at the door and the food really hit the spot. We did have to wait a bit to have our order taken, but the staff were extremely kind and helpful. They made sure our orders accommodated our group's various dietary restrictions (dairy free and gluten free), as well as our request for mild spice level. My friend fell in love with the butter chicken!

Everything is incredible: the restaurant is beautiful, the menu is gourmet and without fuss, the service adorable. Definitely the best Indian restaurant of my life (and I tried a few between Paris and London)!

We went there twice in 3 days (is that bad?), we loved both the service and the food. From starters to desserts, everything is delicious. We will certainly be surprised to make a special stopover in Edinburgh to come back and eat there if we return to Scotland.

We recently visited Gautam's in Edinburgh, Scotland, after traveling all the way from Leicester, England, and it was absolutely worth the trip. The Indian food we ordered was incredibly delicious, and the staff were exceptionally helpful, encouraging, and supportive throughout our meal. The atmosphere at Gautam's is lovely and adds to the overall experience. Both the service and the location are excellent. If you're in Scotland, I highly recommend visiting Gautam's—it's one of the best Indian restaurants in Edinburgh. Don’t miss out!

I was visiting my sister on Edinburgh and she had heard great things about this place and it did not disappoint. The waitstaff, service, food and ambiance was perfect. The main course took a bit to arrive which we didn't mind at all as we enjoyed our cocktails (which were delicious) and soaked in our surroundings. I can't remember what we ordered but it was fantastic. Do yourself a favor and go.

We came on a Saturday lunchtime and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Food was sensational - particularly the mono and fish pakora. Highly recommend!

A bustling restaurant north of Holyroodhouse park, the food here is of exceptional quality and tastefully presented. My favorites here were the Gau’Ko Kukhuro and the Gulab Jamun, highly recommend this establishment.

Met a friend for dinner and it was truly outstanding. I was immediately greeted by very friendly staff, and was seated right away. I ordered the cheese & garlic naan along with the Rajas Nihari Gohst. Both were terrific! Flavorful, perfectly spiced, and the portions were big. I was stuffed with just those two items! Really cute restaurant, good food, and very friendly people working there. I even ended up speaking to the owner, and he was delightful. I will definitely be going back.

Booked in advance and needed to put our credit card details down as they’ll charge a fee for no show - fair enough. We were greeted with a smile, service was friendly and attentive, even the bartender came over to check on us. Food-wise: amazing!!! For starters we had the King prawn. This dish was good but nothing to write home about. The main course though, was awesome. We had butter chicken and lamb shank from the Signature menu. Butter chicken was on the sweeter side however very flavourful. Lamb shank had such a great depth of flavour and was a great pair with the garlic naan. The meat came straight off the bone and was very tender. Highly recommended. Decent portion size, we actually couldn’t finish everything and needed to pack some home. We also ordered a bottle of wine and mango lassi hence the high price. If you don’t drink, the pricing for food was well worth.

First time ever in Edinburgh we called the restaurant to check if reservations needed. And if they serve Halal food. Staff friendly, super professional, attentive. Our orders : butter chicken, boiled rice, chicken tekka , plain naan , chicken nuggets , food is good, served quickly, and portions are excellent. Crowded restaurant yet employees are attentive to everything. Special thanks to our host Mr. Gyan. And the amazing female waitress ( i did not get the name) Was not disappointed with the place.

This was maybe one of the best Indian foods I’ve had. Good size portion, delicious, nice staff. We had Chana masala and garlic naan az side too but couldn’t resist not eating it and take a picture. Everything was great don’t miss it!

Loving Nepalese and Indian cuisine. We took advantage of our trip to Edinburgh to test Gautam’s. The team is very (too) commercial, they pushed on several occasions for us to take additional entries even though our order placed was already very generous 😅 We did not manage to finish the dishes and this was a first with Nepalese cuisine. It was a disappointment, the cuisine lacked flavor, spices, the Butter Chicken was so sweet, disgusting... if you are tourists with all the excellent Nepalese / Indian restaurants in your country, you will be very disappointed, go eat a good haggis rather

Due to its size , and the fact that it gets busy quickly you're limited to about 2 hours, which is still enough time to have a meal and a few drinks .WELL WORTH A VISIT.

Had a lovely dinner here last week. Great cocktails and selection of food. The staff were lovely and very attentive, no issues with service. As per my booking request, they also arranged a dessert on the house for my partner's birthday. Ambience was lovely as well. Will definitely be back next time we're in town!
