The English, as we know, don't be offended, they don't have traditional cuisine, at most meat or fish and chips. We tried this restaurant which seemed to have a British feel. The place itself is nice, the staff friendly, but the price/quality ratio is terrible. I don't recommend it. For a sirloin and fries choose other places

Came here for dinner with colleagues on Wednesday 25th September 2024. The service was exceptionally slow, and the portion sizes were limited especially for the price. Most of the food was cold, and the starters were particularly disappointing. The calamari was barely edible and the arancini consisted of three tiny balls. 34 GBP for a halloumi salad is also extortionate when it was nothing special.

We went for the Afternoon Tea which was very tasty! Good selection of food nicely presented and delicious, the carrot cake and lemon cheesecake tart were my favourite. Lovely setting, was very quiet, well decorated and beautiful crockery to go with the afternoon tea. A good selection of teas to go with food, I had the white jasmine and apricot which was very refreshing. Would definitely go again.

Mixed review…food and setting is good but the staff really let it down. We went for lunch today and most of the staff either ignored you or treated you as if they were doing you a favour by serving you. I guess they were under staffed as the place was full of empty glasses and used dinner plates. Such a shame as it could be really good.

Disappointing food in a nice setting. Very nicely decorated restaurant, but the kitchen is not keeping up to standard. Overdone steak - medium rare came as well done. Tasteless dry gnocchi served with bland salmon. The so called ‘bruschetta’ turned out to be tiny pieces of toast with a bit of tomato and cheese. The only thing I liked in the whole meal was the non alcoholic cocktail. But even that could have tasted a bit sharper and fresher. Oh and the side salad was good, made with fresh salad leaves and nice dressing.

Found this tearoom very luckily after our visit to Sherlock Holmes museum. Although we hadn’t made the reservation in advance, the staff kindly asked the chef if afternoon tea could be prepared for us, and again luckily we were able to sit and have the afternoon tea-which was very tasty and nicely presented!! My daughter loved it and was so happy :). The restaurant itself is very nice, and other food menu looked nice too. We wish to visit here again, and I believe this could be your lucky choice for afternoon tea in London!

Disappointing I ate here midweek with an old school friend on a Wednesday lunchtime a few weeks ago. The restaurant was quiet, only a quarter full, and we had a lovely meal, at a spacious table for two, served in a timely fashion, with good service and food. I raved about the restaurant to my partner and so I booked it again for today. Today however, Saturday, there was only one waitress on duty for both the bar and restaurant area when we arrived, and the service was incredibly slow. We arrived at 6pm, our starter didn’t appear until 6.45, and the main course eventually at 7.30. We had no cutlery for the main course and despite asking for it, I eventually had to take a set from a nearby table before our food got too cold. By this time we’d lost our appetite and I didn’t finish my meal . The restaurant wasn’t even particularly busy (three quarters full) but the waitress placed us on a table squeezed closely by a door that led into the hotel. This meant our table being continually nudged by guests from the hotel as they entered the restaurant. The waitress apologised for the slow service and said that it was because we’d unfortunately chosen the busiest day of the week there!! Disappointing as the bar and restaurant ambience is very nice and clearly when only a quarter full, the staff can cope effectively with demand in the restaurant. We may just have been unlucky with our allocated table and timing, but I would certainly never go back there again at the weekend. A quiet midweek lunch is definitely a safer option.

We arrived to find 50+ people at a pre-booked event at the bar next to the table area and sometimes spilling in to the area. The noise was intolerable. The menu is limited but the food is good. Having been to most of the other London Firmdale Hotels many times and always enjoyed the experience, the visit to The Potting Shed was an unusual in that we did not stay as planned for food after apperativo and nibbles. The sole reason for this was that we were the only people in the restaurant and bar, which meant although we were attentively looked after, the surrounding ‘library like’ silence and lack of atmosphere became uncomfortable, and we even noticed our own conversation was in increasingly hushed tones…so sadly we politely explained out reasons, paid the bill and left. This was disappointing as we had chosen the restaurant because of its proximity to Regents Park and the Open Air Theatre we were attend later that evening.

Efficient and friendly service but the kitchen needs talking to. I asked for half a portion of fish and chips, as I have a digestive problem, but told the waiter that I would pay the full price. I didn’t get what I asked for but not wanting to embarrass my friends I didn’t send the dish back. Apparently, the chef didn’t want to provide what the guest ordered. I can think of one reason only for his refusal – he doesn’t prepare the fish; the fish is supplied already battered. The fish was awful, you get a better one in run of a mill pub. The chips were full of grey bits, as if made from old potatoes. I didn’t taste the shortbread that came with the crème brulee. The biscuit was too big, too pale and unnecessary addition. But the brulee was delicious. I have had some pleasant meals in The Potting Shed before so the management needs a grip on the kitchen.

Firstly, I was left with a huff and a giggle after transcending down the stairs and listening to a scouse family behind me. It was quite a thrill to see the surroundings of the restaurant (with a softly pronounced t). The menu. I was knocked out - I almost ran out of the restauran to scream with delight. The hash browns were lovely and the continental break was fine, although I’m surprised we still serve this after the referendum. A family nearby was American and the family to the left Belgiek. Belch. I’m not sure what the right term is. I left with a fully tummy and an exceptionally light wallet so so be aware. The 12.5% add on to the bill was surprising and somewhat erotic given my company glanced at me with longing eyes. Thank you for a great experience.

We ordered (three of us) the set Sunday lunch which was described as being 'traditional'. However, the options were chicken or Bavette steak. The steaks were incredibly chewy to the point of inedible. In spite of two request there was no mustard forthcoming and the inclusive glasses of wine were not offered. The very nice South African wine seems to have rocketed in price, causing the overall bill to be extremely high. Gradually the staff numbers built up and they were attentive, probably the saving grace of the lunch.

One of the best dining experiences. The dishes are delicious, excellent tastes and very well presented. The staff are kind, attentative, very professional and pay attention to details. Last but not least is the building and the decoration, a fantastic hall transformed into a very cosy, intimate and high-end ambience.

The place looks ok but it’s really loud. They also wouldn’t reseat us despite there being available. The food was good, but not good enough for the price. Service was ok but it took too long. The noise was unbearable. We considered leaving before we ate but it was too late for us to find another alternative. They need to fix the acoustics really badly.

Shocking. Nice location and atmosphere with reasonably priced wine, however the food prices, quality and volume were extremely poor. In my view a rip off. The whole lobster for two was tiny. I would avoid eating here.

We visited the Golden Fleece for a Friday afternoon Christmas lunch for 19 of us and it was great. The downstairs area with its own bar was just right for us. Emma's service was excellent and we all enjoyed the 3 course Christmas menu. It's a great pub for just a drink too, right in the heart of the City with a relatively fair bit of space out the front to drink outside.
