Have been here multiple times and always had great food and service. Coffee is from local suppliers iron and fire and local milk from Daisy Bank Dairy. We have followed Jaz since her begining buying cakes from her house. Love that she's moved into this beautiful new location and we can't wait to see what she's does next and try some more of her delicious treats! Jaz- we will be back. A really great option for coffee and cake, brunch, lunch or tea time. We’ve known of Jaz since her time in Welshpool and her inventive sweet treats on market stalls so were really pleased when she took over Naissance. The cafe is in a delightful location in the courtyard of Glansevern Hall which is a lovely place to eat outside in warmer weather and great for a walk around the gardens. There is however ample seating inside too over two floors. Jaz’s signature baked goods are on offer, ever changing and as inventive as ever (Stilton scones were a highlight today) and the brunch menu rivals nearby Greenhouse. There are jacket potatoes, sandwiches, soup, quiches etc on offer for lunch and the new licence means alcoholic Berger ages are also on offer. Jaz is also doing regular themed nights and the menus always look tempting. A great addition to the local area and perfect for stop offs for those travelling to the coast from the midlands.

We enjoyed a nice lunch here with friends. Had a delicious fried egg sandwich. Menu very pricy, staff very lovely and friendly. The cakes looked very tempting - (could i suggest you put prices up for customers to see?) but out of our selection of 3 they were all very dry and disappointing. Latte was presented in beautiful tall glass.

Now under new management!! Beautiful food in the most beautiful location 👌 What a spectacular place to eat the most delicious breakfast, served by a lovely team, in the most tranquil environment 🌿 After filling our tummies with the mushrooms on toast, we then walked it off with a stroll around the lake. This time of year is one of my favourites, as the leaves change colour. You can really switch off from the busy world here. Highly recommend.

We stopped here on a whim and had a lovely wander through what could be amazing gardens, the bones are there but clogged up with weeds. We decided on lunch in the cafe and as I can’t eat dairy or egg I tend to eat vegan when I go out. There was a beetroot falafel and houmous vegan dish so I opted for that. My husband had a toastie that was perfectly pleasant but nothing special. My falafel turned up, a ring of salad and 4 small falafel but no houmous. I asked at the counter where the houmous was and the server picked up a squirty bottle of Heinz salad cream and put some in a Ramekin and handed to me. I was shocked as not only was this clearly not houmous but Salad cream isn’t Vegan as it has eggs in it. I was able to scrape the salad cream off the falafel and eat them but the salad was plastered in it. Hugely overpriced, under delivered, not as advertised and definitely no idea what vegan means. So disappointing as the potential is there. We won’t be back.

We used to love visiting the cafe at Glansevern but it's now so disappointing. Service is very slow, limited menu and expensive, and it took ages for the food to arrive. We have been twice this year but won't be returning which is a shame. The gardens at Glansevern are overgrown now too and the path round the lake virtually impassable. Very limited opening and it appears as if no-one cares about the place now. Very little reason to return and would no longer recommend.

So sad, the cafe at Glansevern is not what it was. Called Saturday at 1.45 pm today to have some refreshment on our journey South on the A483. No soup available. Limited selection of cakes. Settled for 2 slices of Banana and Toffee cake ( slightly dry.) Fortunately the coffee was good! Hope it improves before our next visit because we have such fond memories of it from previous times. Otherwise will be looking elsewhere.

We visited as a family for the Craft & Vintage Fayre. The owners of Glansevern Hall & Gardens had kindly allowed Berriew Bowling Club to organise and hold the fund raiser in their beautiful grounds. The event was well organised by the bowling club and the stalls were quite varied in what they were selling. The cafe was selling lovely cakes and drinks on the day, hot food could be purchased from stalls in the food court. Curries, hog roast, sausages, chips, burgers to name but a few of the items on sale. After browsing the stalls and eating my fill of curry & cake, I walked round the grounds which I must say are beautiful. Well worth the visit.

My family and I went here for lunch earlier today and what a disappointing “experience” it was. We saw the menu online and were looking forward to getting lunch. When we arrived, we learned that there was a vintage fair on, which sounded like a nice additional touch until we learned that to go through the fair and into the cafe for lunch we had to pay £6 a person. We thought ok, we’re here now. When we paid the entrance fee and walked to cafe they told us they were only serving cakes. No one mentioned this until after we paid £24 for privilege of walking to the cafe. There were two food stalls but nothing that would replace a cafe. As we were leaving, we heard a fair vendor angrily arguing with the wardens demanding a refund for the stall fee: she was angry that she paid £50 for the stall for the day, didn’t sell anything, and was put next to another vendor selling very similar items as her. The logic that you pay £6 for the privilege of looking at stalls attempting to sell to you escapes me. It felt like the owners of Glansevern were ripping off the both the customers and the vendors.

What’s gone wrong here? We loved this cafe ! This is the second time in a month we have been there, first time we didn’t review as we thought it was so bad it must be a one off! As been there a lot and always loved it! But this time we didn’t even bother getting served as the same poor standards were in place. 1. Freezing cold in there no fire was lit and it was very cold! 2. Only one young person serving with a huge backlog of orders and a queue. 3.limited menu as no staff 4 other customers sat there waiting for food were cold and complaining too 5. As this was the second time this had happened we left without ordering Such a shame it used to be lovely! Feels like no one cares now!

As two ladies who lunch or take tea out this venue had been on our "bucket" list for some time. We went on a wet afternoon, just drizzle. The decor of the cafe was delightful, we ordered the mango and lime sponge cake (absolutely yummy) with a pot of tea, nicely served in china teapots, china cups, separate milk jugs and they forgot the sugar. But the staff were not as delightful as their surroundings. They served us but they created no atmosphere, they seemed distant and as if their minds were on other things than the job in hand "serving us" A smile and a little pleasant chatter in response to our interested enquiries would have gone a long way... Found the Garden Shop lovely to browse in, but very expensive.

The interior and external setting is lovely. However, the wait for food considering the place was under quarter occupancy was ridiculous. The prices are extortionate unless you have tea and cake which was fairly reasonable and the cakes are nice. The main reason for such a low rating is that the staff are arrogant to say the least. This is surprising as they are mainly very young. A gentleman came in with his wife and made an order. They went to sit outside and he popped back in to check he had ordered something and after he went out the staff were making frankly quite inappropriate comments about him. I was visiting with my elderly Aunt and was quite embarrassed at hearing such disrespectful comments especially as I persuaded her here from her usual favourite haunt in Berriew. To be honest the food wasn't a patch on her usual tea and cake stop so we won't be returning.

For a while now, I have been keeping an eye out for a restaurant that makes real pizza – something the chains seem to mistake for cardboard and frozen toppings. Naturally, when I heard that the Potting Shed has a pizza night on Fridays, my curiosity was more than a little piqued.Having spent a number of years in Italy, we have been fortunate enough to eat pizza the way it should be – a skill we honed and perfected many times!!Great pizza is all about simple ingredients made in the right way, with care and attention paid to the details; Porcini mushrooms, with truffle oil and slices of parmesan; or fresh tomato, buffalo mozzarella with rocket, fresh parmesan slices and just a hint of chilli oil, topping a fresh, handmade pizza dough of just the right thickness and with the perfect balance between crispness and melt-in-the-mouth softness. It must be cooked in a very hot wood oven (an absolutely necessary ingredient) and ideally, washed down with a bottle of Dolcetto, preferably sitting outside on a warm night – all the ingredients for a great evening.Of course now we are permanently back in Wales, I didn’t expect the warm evenings, nor sound of the cicadas serenading us, but knowing that the surroundings at Glansevern Hall are seriously beautiful, from a past visit to the food festival, we booked a table for Good Friday evening with anticipation. When we arrived at the Potting Shed, the environment and the decor did not disappoint. As we entered, the staff were very polite and welcoming. A really pleasant place to enjoy what I hoped would be a great, and much-repeated, find. Our attention was drawn to the menu, which pulled me up a little short. Roast beef or lamb on pizza was a little left-field, but “fine” I thought. Let’s go with it. When in Rome…Sadly, what arrived at our table bore very little resemblance to pizza, other than it was round (albeit a very small round). The base seemed to be made from a few microns of crisp-hard pastry (definitely not pizza dough) peeled from its greaseproof backing, cooked to within an inch of its life in an electric oven (the kitchen is open to the dining room, so we could see the food being prepared). What we ate was not unpleasant tasting in any way, but it most definitely could not be called pizza, any more than the other end of the deep-pan, stuffed-crust scale can be called pizza. Overall, more than a little pretentious for what should really be a simple food with fresh ingredients. The other thing which spoiled our evening was that, there was another table in there at the time, who I can only guess were friends of the owner and were there for a private party. At 9.20, a lady, who I assumed to be the owner or manager (we had seen her go in and out of the kitchen a few times during the evening), came over from the other table and asked, somewhat pointedly, if we wanted coffee (we had been asked previously – politely – by one of the girls working there). We suddenly felt like unwanted guests. Not great when you have just stumped up almost £100 for a meal of crisp bread with a dollop or two of lamb purée on it.The search goes on… I won’t be going back here looking for the perfect pizza. It is a real shame, because all the other ingredients are there for this to be the most amazing place to spend a relaxed evening. Rudeness and being shoved out ten minutes before they wish to close is not the way I am used to enjoying a meal. Simple things, but seemingly so hard to achieve.

Had a lovely visit, the building is wonderful, and the cafe is very well decorated and comfy. The range of food was good, but it was quite expensive, so more suited to a treat than an everyday cuppa. Loads of free parking is great too!

We have been to the Potting Shed Café twice this year for lunch and it really is a little gem. The food is very different - fantastic flavours, good quality and highly original. The staff are friendly and the service is good. I would highly recommend the Potting Shed Cafe.

Popped by to visit the gardens which were beautiful but we were taken aback by the superb quality of the lunch menu.... And the Lemon cake was probably the best I've ever eaten..... A great credit to the new family owners who have obviously worked really hard.

We stopped off for a quick tea at Glansevern Cafe and were delighted to find a such a lovely tea shop with the best cake we have ever tasted. Having come from Hay (which we love, but doesn't produce a good sponge), we were amazed by the delicious cake. I had mango and lime which was just superb, my husband had a brownie which was light, soft, moist and amazing and our daughter had the victoria sponge which Mary Berry would be delighted with. Watch out Glansevern cafe, you might loose your cook to the Great British Bake Off!!!

We had no expectations of finding somewhere out of the ordinary when breaking our journey from Preston to the Gower Peninsula-but there it was, we turned into the Glansevern Hall Garden estate and followed the signs for the cafe to find a fantastic little haven! We contented ourselves with a cafetière of fabulous coffee and a slice of cake, but the meals looked equally tempting. The coconut cake with mango and lime buttercream was to die for and my friend was equally in heaven with the coffee walnut cake. We'll be calling again on our journey back north!

Five Stars go to this little gem of a foodie cafe in the courtyard at Glansevern Hall near Welshpool.Glorious gardens open; excellent gift shop devoid of 'tat'. Fantastic gastro-cafe .extravaganza at 'The Potting Shed' - we had: Duck Breast a point on a barley & pomegranate salad / Veggie Curry with homegrown beetroot raiter and homemade nan-bread and a whole lot more - go and find out for yourselves! Coffee excellent: double espresso with a little jug of hot milk on the side with home baked biscotti Just what was needed after a 3 hour drive.

We've been to The Potting Shed before and had delicious, fragrant salads for lunch. Today I had one of the best vege curries I've ever had and my husband had one of the best pizzas he's ever had! The curry was seasonal veg in a spiced but not over-hot broth. It came with a colourful beet root raita full of cooling mint, and was served with a huge bunch of fresh coriander and a warmed naan. Absolutely top quality taste, quantity, quality and presentation! The pizza was thin and crispy with strips of pork, pieces of baked fennel and a smoky sauce. My husband has trouble with his taste buds but could discern all the flavours coming through and raved about it! Lovely service and surroundings. Well done everyone involved.

I visited the potting shed cafe on one of its gourmet pizza nights - the pizzas were brilliant not too heavy and very tasty. I shared the chocolate meringue pudding also very tasty. They've kept things simple and done a brilliant job, I only wish they served gin - the drinks menu is fairly limited however glansevern heaven pale ale highly recommended!

Went to Glansevern primarily because the cafe had been well reviewed. Annoying therefore to have to pay £7 entry fee before even reaching the cafe. We later discovered that this fee was not justified by the "gardens", which were mostly just a couple of fields. Scenic yes, gardens no. Back to the cafe. We were 11 in our group and the last food reached our table over an hour after ordering. Seven of us only had tea and cakes so we could not understand the delay. Even the cooked food orders were very simple items (2 paninis, 1 leek rarebit and 1 soup). Two of our group work in the restaurant trade and estimated that plating times should have been no more than 10 minutes, cooking totally from scratch. The problems really started when we queried when our food might arrive. The waitress blamed us for being too many people and said that groups of more than 5 should book in advance. WHERE IS THIS POLICY ADVERTISED? WHY DID YOU NOT DECLINE TO SERVE US WHEN YOU KNEW YOU WEREN'T ABLE TO PROPERLY CATER FOR US?Every time the waitress came near our table she literally glared at us as though trying to burn us to ash with her laser vision. She even complained about us to a couple at another table. Come on precious, we were a group of 62 year olds having an annual get together, not a gang of Hells Angels. All we wanted was a bite of lunch and a wander round the grounds before it got dark!.Back to the lunch. Quality wise nothing special and price wise a total rip-off. Nearly a tenner for a panini containing 3 small pieces of meat and some cheese? Should have been a fiver tops.As we were leaving one of our group met the owner, who apologised for the problems. Turns out that the normal cook was off and the other staff didn't know what they were doing in the kitchen. As excuses go this is hardly acceptable. Apart from the obvious lack of staff training, If a business is unable to provide normal service then it is improper to continue tradling. The whole afternoon was a thoroughly unpleasant experience. Thank goodness that other businesses in Welshpool (ie. The Royal Oak, Bistro7 and Powis Castle) know how to look after paying guests properly.

We go to Glansevern Hall gardens whenever we're free and when the sun is shining. Lunch at The Potting Shed Cafe is eagerly awaited and we know of nowhere better in mid Wales to go for delicious and inventive food in such a delightful atmospheric setting. They've got it just right.

Our first visit was to a Friday night special event. Local beer accompanied by local cheese rarebits. Live music and a fine evening sitting outside just soaking up the ambience. Superb value and such an unusual evening. Well worth keeping an eye out for these special evenings. But the cafe offers the same outstanding service whenever open, and desserts/cakes that will melt in your mouth. Perfect afternoon tea.

We have had lunch here three times over the past couple of months, once with family, another visit with friends and one just us. It is without doubt one of the best places to have lunch in Mid Wales and few places in Shropshire can match this super cafe. Food is fresh, very tasty and imaginative. Great cakes and very good and friendly staff. All our friends and family who came with us loved the food at the Potting Shed cafe. Yes of course we will return.

Paid to go into the gardens and as it was lunchtime went first to the Potting Shed Cafe. Ordered the soup and my wife had a salad. The service was top class, the surroundings enchanting and the food !!! Oh what a taste sensation we enjoyed! The menus are changed weekly, the food is either grown or sourced locally and the chef cooks everything fresh. Can't recommend it highly enough!

Had tea and cake here before looking around the beautiful gardens. my mother and I shared a slice of orange sponge and coconut, lime and mango sponge. Both delicious and freshly baked on the premises. All the cakes looked yummy as did the savoury items especially the gourmet pizza. Do visit here and walk around the gardens but well worth a visit even if you don't make the gardens. Excellent food, friendly staff and pretty setting.

What a place! We stopped off at the end of cycling around the Vale of Montgomery to enjoy a garden stroll (albeit a lycra-clad one). The café is superb. My partner had bruschetta which he said was the best he had ever tasted. I simply wanted cake and was not disappointed by the choice and quality. They advertise gourmet pizza evenings which, on the basis of our first visit would be a reason for quite a detour if we were anywhere near there. The staff were lovely and re-filled our water bottles etc. No bike rack but we were advised that bikes can be brought right into the café area. The gardens themselves are stunning and the combination of the two made for a wonderful end to our day. We cannot wait to return.

On our inaugural visit to this attraction, on the hottest day of the year so far, we were firstly enthralled by the magical and sensitively nurtured gardens. The collection of exotic trees was so exciting and very special. My wife who is a conservation biologist and skilled botanist, thought this was to be her favourite garden because of the sensitivity to areas of more formal design alongside more wild areas supporting wildlife and wild flowers. The day was made complete by our meal at The Potting Shed cafe. A creative and uncluttered menu allowed a limited yet adequate choice of meals. We were so impressed by the freshness of taste and depth of flavours. To say we were spoilt by the extensive collection of cakes, deserts etc would be an understatement. Absolutely delicious! The meal we ate could have been prepared in a high end restaurant. We enjoyed it all so much. The relaxing calmness whilst sat in the outdoor seating area left our party reluctant to leave the table area but left us with an appetite for a return trip with our respective parents and family. The staff were prompt and polite and seemed happy in their work.

At the end of our visit to the gardens, we've been invited by the lovely and friendly staff to enjoy a cup of tea in the café. My husband and I totally enjoyed there, everybody smiling, comfortable atmosphere, we had a lovely afternoon tea with 3 home-made cakes! Yes 3! :)) we couldn't decide what to choose such a big variety of cakes all mouth watering. I must admit all three cakes Flapjack, brownie and coffee cake were adorable. Staff very caring, we were quite cold from our long walk in the gardens so they started the fire for us, making the atmosphere even cosier. They have a traditional wood burner for heat btw. Very delightful worth a visit!!

I read a review about this little known hideaway whilst staying in Montgomery for a few days and took a trip to find it. Driving down the scenic country roads on the way to Welshpool, I came across the sign to Glansevern Hall and a formal drive that lead me to my destination. Nestled into the corner of a beautiful, grand courtyard setting The Potting Shed is a cosy Cafe come restaurant that has neat cottage tables and comfy sofas warmed by a wood burning stove. It immediately reminds you of what it would have been like in the old days with smiling staff, a relaxed efficient atmosphere and somewhere for you to relax and lap up the ambience, whilst the chefs were busying themselves baking what looked like wonderful cakes.I indulged in a glass of wine and asked about some exquisitely creative food shown on the menu. I was cheerfully informed that much of it came from the Glansevern Gardens across the courtyard. I was so tempted by the abundance of delicious scents that I didn’t know where to start. I am a meat lover but as this was my first trip and not wanting to offend the very pleasant girl who served me I took the plunge and was not disappointed in the slightest. I gingerly requested the wild garlic soup to start followed by a recommendation to try the Butternut Squash and Sweet Potato salad as my main. The wild garlic soup was fresh and delicious and I was told having finished it that it had been made that morning from the freshly picked wild garlic from the estate too.It was filling but I wondered if this could be topped. but equally tasty and ample, even for my appetite was the salad which was a delight with subtle flavours and textures and perfectly presented. To end with and to break all traditions I took up the gauntlet of the pecan pie again homemade. It was simply divine. I am now a convert not just of eating dishes that contain no animal in them whatsoever but also of adding a pudding to end of my meal. I will be back. Thank you little Potting Shed Cafe, my trip to this beautiful part of the world was complete”.

Definitely not the fine dining experience promised! Very disappointed, mediocre food with overcooked vegetables. Knew we were going to be disappointed when offered cheese savouries (think 1970’s party food) as an appetiser! Salt and pepper squid - lacking either salt or pepper but with the addition of soggy parsnip crisps and grapes. The waiting staff were pleasant!

Mock timber frame manor house retaining much of its character and charm. No lifts. Breakfast was choose your own pre-packed cereals with a cooked option. Dinner was a mini-taster with delicious options which we watched cooked on TV cameras. The room was clean but dated with an en-suit crammed in. High windows restricted light and views of extensive gardens and river. The staff were friendly and willing but lacked service training. Guests our age do not wish to be called 'you guys'.

Great place to stay. A friend and I cycled to the area and stayed here overnight. The owner is very accommodating and friendly. The room is a generous size with all the facilities you would want, and you have access to an outside deck area with lounge chairs and table which is ideal on a sunny day. The breakfast was also lovely. The location was great as it’s a 5 min walk from 2 good pubs and a post office/shop
