The best fish and chips we have had in a long time. Curry sauce was also really nice. Mushy pea fritters and onion rings were to die for. There was a good veggie selection. We had a Joe's Ice-cream to finish our meal. It was perfect

I live in London and have tried takeaways from lots of different fish and chip shops over the years... I'm in the area staying with family at the moment and this is by far the best fish and chips I've ever had! Amazing flavour and texture to both the fish and the chips. Will be very hard to beat!

Last weekend I organised a school trip/expedition to Black Mountain with 20 students and 4 staff and we ordered food from The Old Temp Fish Bar on the Saturday evening. From my first phone call 2 weeks before they were fantastic! Communication on Facebook Messenger and on the phone was immediate and incredibly helpful. They clarified my order and even wrote the names of individual students/staff on everyone's meals! I sent a colleague to collect our order, which was ready on time, even though it was a busy Saturday evening. The food was reasonably priced, delicious (epic curry sauce) and still warm, despite the 5 mile journey back to our accommodation. I fully intend to make ordering from The Old Temp Fish Bar an annual part of my school trip.

Great little chip shop. Nice selection but with additional items from the normal shops. Catering for vegetarian & even offering dessert. Also handy as you can phone in orders for collection. Nice friendly owners & staff.

Great value, hot and tasty food, helpful and attentive staff and quick service.

Excellent service. So friendly and welcoming. Was in a large group and the owner made sure we all had seats and tables out the shop front and even gave us some water for the dog. Food was also brilliant 100% recomend!!

I’ve ordered food from this business multiple times since moving into the area recently, and the standard of food and service has been so high every time. Lovely friendly people, good nostalgic range of food and drinks and I have to say, although some places vary, it’s remained consistently the best fish & chips I’ve ever had consistently. Highly recommend checking this place out 💖

Great little stop off for lunch after looking at some waterfalls. Best chips I've had in a long time and really nice (and surprisingly big!) piece of fish. Limited parking right outside, seating outside and some public benches/ park around the corner.

Stopped here this afternoon my husband and myself both ordered faggots (2) mushy peas gravy and chips and they were absolutely delicious 😋 and the lady owner was lovely friendly and chatty. We will definitely return when in area. Thank you x

Chips are terrible. Most were white and mushed, some of them were hard and uncooked. How can someone not know how to cook chips?

Always a warm welcome. Fast and friendly service. Fish is one of the best I have tasted the chips are so addictive always very busy but still fast service. One treat I look forward to.

Really dissappointed with the fish & chips served at this place. Friendly service but the chips were covered in patches, of what I think was old cooking fat, I'd never seen chips like it, served up with lots of bits from the fish batter. The fish was over cooked and the women gave me a pile of 7 pieces of cod when I only ordered 4 fish bites for one of us as 2 of us don't eat seafood. I think the pile up of cod must have been the guilt of serving such poor quality food. I was charged £18 for 3 medium chips, 4 fish bites and 3 cans. We had a few mouthfuls and had to bin it. Definitely won't be going back anytime soon.

Recently moved to the village and tried this for the first time last night, gorgeous fresh food. Beautiful welcome from the staff, chatted to the female owner who was so friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back.

I’ve been here many times and it never fails to deliver. Always great food and a fabulous family business. We love the food, it has always been great and there are always some lovely home cooked options as well as seasonal offerings such as the Christmas specials. Also a great opportunity to get Joe’s ice cream up valley as well as delicious cheese cakes Staff are always excellent and Ams welcomes customers like good friends. Highly recommended - well worth a visit

Awful experience, the owner was very rude to us and other customers; It was very unwelcoming. Will not be returning, especially when ystradgynlais has much better fish shops with staff that don't talk down to you, such as Gurnos and Marianos.

My wife and I - on our way home back to Luton - happened to stumble across this fish and chips shop while driving around and got hungry. Here’s how our experience went: 1. Car parking may be an issue depending on the time of day. As it was a Monday afternoon when I went in, I didn’t have issues with finding parking, but peak times may cause you issues. 2. Unfortunately there was no eating in, at the time of this writing. It wasn’t an issue to us though, as we are flexible with our eating situation. If you must eat inside, please call to check. 3. The menu has a fair amount of items, but I only remember seeing 1 entry for “Fish”. Didn’t really state what kind of fish it was (most probably cod, from its taste), just know it was a large fish. Again, not an issue to me, but may be an issue to you. The fair other items may be a plus though, as it can offer a lot more than just fish and chips, so would be a better people pleaser. 4. The staff were friendly while I was ordering. The lady even helped to advise me on the cheesecake selections which was nice. I ordered 2x Large Fish and Chips, a Fishcake, 2x Cheesecake desserts and 2x drinks, which totalled ~£25 for me and my wife. I think this is fair, considering we’re eating out. 5. The wait was a little while (25mins due to it being off peak and the fish being cooked fresh). We didn’t mind as we had ample time to kill as we weren’t looking forward to a 4 hour drive home. 6. The food: The chips were beautifully crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They tasted fresh. The fish tasted very fresh and the coating tasted airy and very pleasant. I would’ve liked the fish to have been a little more salted, but it was all good as I didn’t notice when eating the fish with the chips - there was plenty of salt and vinegar on them, which is always a plus for me! I had a lovely experience and would highly recommend this place!

went there for some food and had a very poor experience, the owner i believe Ams is extremely rude to customers and i will not be returning again, much better food choices around the area and i will not be caught dead eating from there again.

Terrible food. The chips tasted of chip oil and was cold, the fish wasn't cooked properly and if that wasn't bad enough, the owner has a right attitude. There are other fish & chips shops much nicer than this place and you get a better service to. Wouldn't recommend this place to eat to anyone.

The women that owns the chip shop is very rude to minors , loads of people have experienced it. This women needs to watch her attitude before parents start complaining

We have been here a few times to get food. We can’t fault the food and it’s always been nice from this place. However, the past couple of time I have been to get food... There’s a woman who is always rude and speaks so abruptly. Unfortunately, this has put me off going to this place again. All the other people that work there are lovely.

I have to admit I have tried this restaurant numerous times for a take away and I have never been let down. The food is freshly cooked for you and it is stunning. They are friendly and nothing is to much trouble. I highly recommend it.

We visited on a very wet Tuesday and the freshly cooked fish and chips definitely warmed us up! The portions were great!! Could have ordered a portion less of chips and still had loads, the same could be said for the mushy peas and curry sauce! Great value for money!! Only slight thing was it wasn’t clear that we could have rung and ordered ahead of time to avoid waiting for the food to be cooked, although can’t complain the food is cooked freshly!! If in the area would definitely get food here again, yummy!!

Food grease not very good staff not sociable

Amazing food. Everything was cooked fresh and super tasty too. We'd definitely recommend that ANYONE living or staying local, should pop in at least once to try their delicious food. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

We came here on our last night for our "Chippy Tea". Parked very close and ordered the food. I love knowing that the food is cooked fresh for each customer. The food was exceedingly tasty and great value for money. We'd definitely come back here and recommend this place to anyone staying local. They even have a Cheesecake Fridge for all you dessert lovers. If I'd had known that, I would have taken more money and bought some for the log cabin.

A fabby fish and chippie! They do cod roe, which my hubby adores and they also have vegan options, especially if you ring in advance.

Each year, our caving club from Lincoln comes to The Old Temp Fish Bar for our annual club fish and chips on our Wales trip. We have been returning now for 3 years and we will be returning again and again whilst they continue to have us! They accommodate us inside the shop even when we come with nearly groups of 20. They are amazing, both the food and staff, and their portion sizes, oh my gosh, wear your elasticated trousers because here at The Old Temp Fish Bar, it might say small but it's still very generous. Really couldn't fault their customer service and quality, and as for their fish, lovely white and flakey. No question about being 5 stars and we look forward to returning next year.

Maybe it was because they were busy but the chips were undercooked and the fish was greasy and my wife and I spent the night throwing up.

Tried here for holiday meal one evening recently. Fish fried to order so there was a little wait, but meant it was freshly cooked. Prices were a little cheaper than my local back home, and tasted very similar. Portions good size too.

Nice chips , good portions. Fish is excellent the gravy and curry sauce were fairly standard as was the sausages. The staff are efficient and friendly. Service was good even though it was getting near closing time. Will definitely be going back.

Current owners started off making extremely nice chips. Over time this has changed, which is a shame. I used to drive almost 20 miles for chips from here

I bought a fish and large chips from the old chippy , then took them home and threw the chips in the bin, because not only were they cold they were dripping with grease, they had obviously been standing a long time, and the oil needed changing, because they had been boiled not fried. Unscrupulous fish and chip shops always try to get an extra day or two out of the oil for extra profit, but I won't be spending £5.80 of my pension there again.

I do not eat chips very often, more of a pasta and rice person but when i have the odd craving for some,this is place i head for, i do not like greasy chips and find the chips here suit my palate perfectly plus the staff are very friendly and the shop itself is very clean.
