The Potted Pig in Cardiff

One of my favourite places to eat. I recently visited Potted Pig for the second time for my partner's birthday and we had a wonderful time. The food is exquisite, we started with the potted pig itself, I opted for the pork belly for main which was extremely tender, well balanced and beautifully seasoned and my partner had the steak which she says is the best she's had. Incredible flavour and great value for money. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overeager and the cocktails we had were an excellent compliment to the meal. The atmosphere is intimate without being stifling and would suit plenty of occasions. My number one place in Cardiff to visit for a special occasion!

Staff was really nice. Love the cockle laverbread sourdough. However, the main was a little op, imo.

Great dining experience! I had the celeraric steak which has to be one of the best meals I've ever had, the pairing of flavours was impeccable. The staff were very informative and helpful.

The food in the potted pig was delicious, however, despite the waiting staff being incredibly friendly, the service was extremely slow. From sitting down to receiving mains took around 1 hour 45 minutes. The staff apologised to us that they were overwhelmed (Friday evening) but it seems like they are just understaffed. Easily fixable and overall a superb night!

I really enjoyed lunch here. Food was really good and the lunch time deal was fantastic value for money. We had two courses: pork burger and the Welsh rarebit. Both lovely. Roasted potatoes with the dishes slightly harder but flavourful. Rarebit was divine 😍 Desserts of sticky toffee and the lemon posset were lovely! Posset was lemony but not too tart. Balance was great. We had red wine and summer spritz which were lovely. Nice way to enjoy the meal. Downside was food took long time to come almost 45 mins after we put in our order which was too long of a wait. Hence I removed a star for service. Otherwise the staff are great and the atmosphere is lovely and cozy. Recommend it!

Another great venue in Cardiff. And another fantastic meal. Great wine. Fantastic staff. We really enjoyed our night out after a disappointing match!

A fantastic venue with great food and service always a pleasure to visit

Booked a table for two on valentines day. Booking was for 9:30pm table till 11:30pm, it was raining so the walk through town was a little rough, arrived wet 15 minutes late and was told the kitchens are shut, with dinner ruined and the night turned upside down the next day I received a final blow with a £30 fine charged to my card. I called and was told to send an email so I sent one explaining the situation and that I had to budget for the occasion and so the fine was a fair sum for me to pay, but there was no response. Absolutely ridiculous to shut the kitchens on valentines evening 15 minutes after the time we was supposed to arrive and shameful to fine me £30 for being a tad late.

Went with my wife and 9 month old baby and we had a lovely time. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Couldn't fault a thing.

Restaurant in the basement. Without reservation 1h30 wait before being served, instead of 50 minutes announced. Our 6-sided AI bar table is exposed to a very unpleasant draft of icy air, (air conditioning or open door) The staff did not take our remark on this subject into account, preferring to prioritize their working conditions, they who had too hot, for the comfort of customers. £55 per person 2 bottles of wine at £35 without starter or dessert. 2 hours on site.

Marvellous. It was tricky to find coming from Hampshire however the food was out of this world and the service was 10/10. We wer advised on the best dishes to try. I have never tried Welsh rare bit. I can’t lie I thought it was a rabbit! It was amazing. So tasty. The lamb was insane. The toffee pudding was fabulous and the punch was very very tasty and just the right amount.

The atmosphere and service was absolutely excellent. However other than the sour dough the food was overall very disappointing. The French onion soup was so sweet it was overpowering and most of our party didn’t finish, it may have been better off to top the whole soup off in a larger bowl just with the Welsh rarebit which was lovely. Our mains were also disappointing, my Hake was over cooked and tiny for £28. Without any form of carbohydrates with it. Our other friends had steak which was well seasoned and well cooked but they had no sauces available which ruined the dish for three of our party. Overall for that price point for a meal we had a much higher expectation.

Food again was outstanding. Been here before and it was equally as good the second time. The staff were amazing. Very helpful particularly Jake who was our waiter. They all go out of their way to help with anything. Service brilliant. We had a disabled person in our party and the facilities were great and they really helped to accomodate him in his wherlchair.

Awesome location and atmosphere. Had the three course Sunday lunch which was delicious, filling, and reasonably priced. Great service. Wonderful experience from beginning to end.

We went for Sunday lunch. Very disappointed, the beef was not very tasty and a bit dry and the Yorkshire pudding was not crispy in any way. The roasted veg was unpleasant and you do not get enough gravy which may have improved the taste. The dessert was good but the service was really slow. I would not eat there again.

What a fantastic Sunday Lunch at The Potted Pig in Cardiff. Probably the best Sunday Lunch I have ever eaten. We ordered the french onion soup to start and the the Sunday lunch mixed sharer for 2. Superb food, fantastic service in a lovely setting.

The staff made the entire night. Extremely welcoming, chatty and attentive. Perfect example of why you tip service. Only lost a star as unfortunately the table was a bit near to the kitchen which naturally had a bit of working noise. As well as this, the duck dish didn't quite live up to the price. Would 100% recommend the fish and garlic potatoes though.

On a wet rugby day in wales we got a table here. The welcome was very warm food outstanding we loved everything we ate. We had a great server caller Courtney who was fabulous and we left having really enjoyed the restaurant and food. Will definitely like to return !!

We visited on a night when there was some filming going on with Adam Richman. We decided to just order mains and save ourselves for dessert. I’m not sure whether it was the kerfuffle from the filming but it took a very long time for our food to arrive. The waiter having noticed this brought out a bowl of olives. We would have preferred the Crackling, Dijon and Cornichons. For mains we ordered: Roast Pork Belly, Glazed Pig Cheek, Butternut Squash Purée, Celeriac, and some long awaited Crackling. Rib-eye, Oxtail Sauces, Pommes Anna, Chimichurri. The steak was cooked medium/rare as recommended on the menu. I am really pleased that I went with the pork. It was the right choice. The three generous squares of perfectly cooked, tender pork belly came resting on three sweet circles of butternut squash. Laid on top of these was the Glazed Pig Cheek, which was dense in flavour and texture almost acting like a rich stuffing would to a roast dinner. Finally there was a small heap of celeriac and a thick strand of well crisped crackling. It was a very comforting and yummy. The ribeye steak came cut into strips and cooked as requested. It was juicy with a good balance of meat and fat. There was no requirement for steak knife that arrived with it. Restaurants should not need to provide if they are confident in the quality of their meat! There was a large slap of the Pommes Anna accompanied by a good portion of chimichurri. The rich oxtail sauce was served in it’s own little pot rather than drowning a perfectly good steak. Overall a lovely evening with decent food.

Went last night , been really looking forward to it- disappointed, i’m not a vegetarian but i had the celaric and it was tasteless and dry asked for more sauce ( got soaked up pretty quick) husband had duck again really dry - side order of veg again tasteless no orange on the carrots and the seasonal greens ( boring ) and i love my veg , don’t take a lot to make them sing , however the service was impeccable -panocotta was good and cheeseboard was decent

We have eaten here a few years ago and it was stunning so was not expecting what we had to eat on Saturday night… We were seated and had a lovely waitress who was very friendly and the atmosphere was really nice but that is where it stopped 😞 We had olives to share which were nothing amazing - just in a small pot with cocktail sticks to pick out for £4.50. Mains is where it all went very wrong, I had duck which as you can see from picture was nice enough and my partner had the fish - it was shocking - £28 for the smallest piece of fish swimming in a bland cream sauce, it was eaten within 2 seconds and had absolutely no flavour or substance at all which for the price you would expect so much more. My partner was starving and finished it so quickly that it made it uncomfortable for me to finish my duck. We complained to our waitress and she had it taken off our bill (not her fault) but to serve the dish in the first place is just a joke and charge so much for it. We would never go back there again.

I enjoyed eating here a few years ago, but was stunned at how poor the quality and value for money was when I ate there this week. Based on my recent experience I will not be interested in eating here again. We had the pork belly which was thin, slightly tough and extremely ordinary. It was accompanied by a tiny, solitary leaf of kale and some cauliflower crumbs. The entire meal made about 5 mouthfuls and for £28 I defy anyone not to feel enormously ripped off. The service was friendly, but I cringed when one of the waitresses called my mother in law 'darling'. I think the PP needs to decide what sort of a place it is trying to be, and then do it well.

Underwhelming evening I’m afraid - very limited menu ( which was the same as the “sample menu” on the website. Food was fine but sadly way overpriced for what it was - have eaten here some years ago but sadly nowhere near the same standard. Lots of nearby restaurants that can offer better food at a sensible price - sadly won’t be returning any time soon.

What a gem of a place! Wonderful staff, Courtney couldn’t have been more helpful; food was stunning so tasty and fresh; great wine options and a fabulous friendly atmosphere- where you can chat and be heard!!

The service was excellent and the taste of the food was as good as I have eaten anywhere, the pork and the duck were perfect. It was 11 years ago that I first went there but I will go back very soon.

Location Slap bang in the middle of Cardiff opposite Cardiff Castle. A perfectly short walk away from the Christmas markets where my other half and I had just been perusing. Service Well-timed, polite and sufficient. Food This is where things surprisingly let us down. While in theory, the dishes had all the right elements, they simply fell short on flavour. Firstly the 'Potted Pig' starter. A jar of spiced pulled pork alongside sweet butter, pickled carrot and sough dough toast. Sounds great, however, once the combination was made it was underwhelming in flavour. The Pork didn't wow me, but the pickled carrot added a much-needed twang and the toast was hard to chew like toast that you had forgotten in the toaster because the newspaper had just arrived and now the coffee and latest affairs seemed much more worthy of your attention. The Main Courses Pork Belly and Leg of an Unlucky Duck Nothing on these two dishes wowed me either, bland is the word that comes to mind. It was pleasant enough with soft flavours, but at no point did anything cut through. I wish I could call it well-balanced but there wasn't much to balance. Another note would be that the tender-stem broccoli was hard to cut and required all of my force (this statement carries more weight if you know the size of my forearms as a drummer). Disappointed by the food we skipped dessert and promptly left. Drinks A good selection of drinks, well polished glassware (always a good metric for a restaurant's standards). Atmosphere Set in the vaults of an old bank, character is in abundance and certainly added to the experience. Overall we were disappointed and won't be back, but consider it a line through one of the many restaurants in the UK

I was expecting more from this restaurant. We were seated and it took 20 mins to get drinks, and a full hour before our mains turned up. If you're going to have the audacity to charge 10% for service then you must provide that service. We went for Sunday lunch. It was quite bizarre that the roast platter for two consisted of 3 portions of meat and 5 potatoes. We were reduced to cutting the meat in half to divvy it up between ourselves. The portions were not generous so it reminded me of what lunch must be like at the Cratchets in A Christmas Carol, sharing it out and scraping up the crumbs. Not good. I can't even say the food was remarkable for the price. Pretty tasteless actually except for the parsnips, carrots and gravy. Enough said. I wouldn't recommend this place. They couldn't even put decent decorations up for Christmas.

Had a great time with my partner, both getting the 3 course dinner and had a great time! Potted Pig starter had plenty of delicious pork, the sourdough wasn't too tough, and there was enough butter to go with it. Tasty pickles too. Pork belly main had amazing pork, crispy roast potatoes, and (as the menu rightly calls it) proper gravy! Loved it all, crackling could've been a tad saltier. Had the Clementine Posset for dessert, would recommend if you've had a rich starter and main combo like we did. Refreshingly light and delicious. For £30 a head I couldn't have asked for more, had an amazing time! Just a note that there isn't any mobile data in the restaurant, and the WiFi was "suspended" while we were there, but might be there on another day

Excellent evening at the Potted Pig. Superb service throughout the evening, staff very friendly & knowledgeable. A great & inventive menu, certainly something for everyone. Good wine list with prices to match all pockets, & a very good cocktails choice. If okly we lived closer it would soon become a regular haunt for my wife & I!

Just wonderful. Booked at random for a girls weekend away in Cardiff and what a find. Tucked away downstairs in the old bank vaults but super cozy and perfect lighting/ambiance. The staff were incredible, even bringing tasters of the wines so we could choose. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. It wasn't cheap but certainly was great value. Highly recommend.

Great food & drinks, attentive friendly service. And don't overlook the sides! Also really really enjoyed the umeshu (plum sake), highly recommend

Booked for a group of 6 for my birthday, the Sunday roast was divine. I ended up opting for the sharing platter as I couldn't choose a main - they all sounded incredible. Food was excellent, great value for money. Heads up, they have an updated Sunday Roast Menu in person rather than their website. No pate but the black pudding was delicious. Service was great, everyone was lovely and friendly. However if you're booking for a group/birthday/event ask them to allocate extra time if you need it, as, as soon as we got there we were asked to give the table back within 2 hours. Not a problem, but would have been nice to not feel rushed as friends travelled from London to catch-up, and we would have stayed longer for drinks if possible. Overall a great experience. Definitely reccomend. Veggie pals spoke highly of their options too!

First time dining here! The service was top notch; seated within a minute. Drinks orders taken within five minutes, food orders five minutes after. The staff were jovial and very welcoming without being over the top. Their menu was short and seasonal; certainly enough to entice the taste buds of anyone. The food was served within around twenty minutes of being seated. Appetisers were super tasty and not overly fussy. Starters were light and packed with flavour -delightful. Main courses were the stars of the show -I had the pork belly and it was some of the best I've tasted. Deserts were a perfectly balanced end -I (over)indulged in poached pear tartlet with a walnut crumb. Delicious. The general atmosphere was great, it was busy without being overly loud, everyone seemed to be having a great time (us included). Would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Cardiff - it's a local treasure of a restaurant and deserves to remain a landmark in the city centre! Five stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Potted Pig is a great spot for a date night or an occasion and my favorite restaurant in Cardiff! Everything we ordered was delicious! I loved the potted pig and the ribs, which just fell off the bone!

Amazing dining experience - lovely food cooked to perfection

Sunday roast. Good but there's a discretionary tip added to the bill which most places do these days and they shouldn't. Should be up to the customer to decide how much they think they would like to tip the staff and not the other way around. And I know we can ask the remove it from the bill, but just makes the customer feel uncomfortable.

Attention, il est encerclé de pub, mais il s'agit ici d'un vrai restaurant gastronomique, il ne faut pas s'attendre à manger du fish and ships. Avant même le repas on est ébloui par le décor rustique mais chic dans une cave voûtée. En entrée j'ai fait honneur au plat emblématique, le potted pig, c'est une terrine de porc accompagnée de toasts croustillants. Ensuite je ne pouvais pas venir au Pays de Galles sans goûter de l'agneau. Celui-ci était rosé mais très tendre, il fondait dans la bouche. En conclusion, je me suis réellement régalé. Voici un restaurant qui mériterait d'être français.

The potted pig Known for one of the best restaurants in the area and very tough to get into. I was able to slide in as a walk in and though the greater and service has been attentive thus far the area that I was placed in was secluded from the main restaurant with the décor of an old cellar. I ordered the Chicharrón’s, duck pate, ribeye, sticky toffee pudding and the Cabernet Sauvignon. The chicharron’s were very dry but also super crunchy, the duck leg pate was cool and didn’t spread well but was well flavored to the salty side however was cut by the mustard greens and Gergen pickles. The ribeye was ordered medium rare but came medium. The flavor was well seasoned on the salty side that was again cut by the side salad of Cabbage, and Lakota topped with garlic butter. The dessert was topped with a sticky toffee bread pudding was the star. Light, fluffy, and served pipping hot while drenched in a light toffee syrup and a side scoop of vanilla ice cream. The food was amazing, the service was very attentive, the only negative is the isolation but I’m guessing that with a reservation you could be in the main rooms with everyone else. In short this was an excellent birthday meal and has me excited to see what the next birthday brings.

I always love this place, but things have changed. It’s always been dark inside but with the sun blazing outside, the inside feels even darker . A real limited menu for vegetarians, with just a single option. Cardiff has lots of new restaurants and the Potted Pig is no longer as good as it used to be.

All boxes ticked. High level service with gentle attention to every minute of your experience. Food was great, discovered for myself some new flavours combos. There’re little statues of the pigs on the floor which is very cute.

Visited here many years ago. Gave it another whirl. Staff, service and atmosphere great. However, what let it down for us was the food! Wife's starter of mushroom pate not tasty (only had a choice of 4 starters. Fine. But 3 of those were pate based with another starter being smoked salmon. Where is the cooking in their starters?) On to mains. I had the ribeye. It was matched with beetroot, black olives and goats cheese mousse. Big flavours all of them. On the same plate? Hmm. My wife had haddock ravioli which she said was nice, but rich. We so wanted to like the food at the Potted Pig. However we were left very disappointed.

Fantastic atmosphere and food, the staff were very friendly and good to have a laugh with. Very professional and also social able. Already recommended to a couple of people and only ate there an hour ago. Food was all cooked well even the Steak which one of our group requested as "rare-ish" was cooked perfect.

After reading the excellent reviews we booked for a family meal to celebrate my daughters graduation. The restaurant itself is lovely, clean and a nice atmosphere. The staff were fabulous, especially our waitress. Part of our drinks order was 2 lime squash for the designated drivers. We were told they’d run out and only had enough squash for one. Then we asked for bread for the table and was told that usually they could but didn’t have much bread left last night, this was despite our booking being early in the evening (6pm). We all had starters, mains and only 5 of the party had desserts. All our party (7 people) agreed that the food was not special, mediocre at best and that we’ve had far better food in far less expensive restaurants. Sadly for us we left feeling disappointed, after reading all the rave reviews we expected something special which it was not.

Such a lovely evening last night at the Potted Pig to celebrate my Masters graduation. The food was delicious (would really recommend the crab raviolo!) and the staff we absolutely amazing throughout. A big shoutout goes to Annie who was kind and courteous, and really made our night special. Thanks to the whole team!

Excellent food, excellent service that was efficient, polite and friendly. Not the cheapest, but what do you expect? The food is very good. The desserts were stand out.

My wife and I are just moving to the area and we were looking for somewhere to have a date night amongst the dozens of bars and restaurants in Cardiff city. Boy did we find somewhere. The Potted Pig is amazing. It's a tiny door with a lift or a set of stairs to go down into a low lit restaurant. As soon as you walk down you are greeted by friendly staff. They were more than happy to accommodate my peanut allergy and brought me a menu once they had seated us which had things that weren't safe for me marked off. The ambient light is just perfect for a romantic quiet meal. They immediately offer a drinks menu and water (tap or bottled) while you look at the menu. The food was just delicious. The starters were well done and neither of us had room for a dessert. We had mocktails and the noise was at the perfect level so we could talk without raising our voices. The waiter was lovely too, we got chatting as he'd asked when seating us whether we'd been before and we mentioned that we're new to the area. He suggested a few bars to go and visit as we wanted to sample the night life a bit more. It's definitely a place worth vising. We will be making this a regular visit as it's just such a lovely place.

I called by the Potted Pig whilst on a two day business trip. I had no reservation, but was offered a table regardless.I found the staff to be very polite and professional and the atmosphere was nice, but the food I had was fairly average to be honest.The chicken supreme I ordered just wasn’t particularly good - certainty not supreme. Whilst the ‘seasonal vegetables’ turned out to be a load of wet kale and nothing else - lovely! The olives I had to start though were excellent, so a point for that.Over the years I had heard many positive things about the restaurant, but unfortunately on this occasion, I did not find that the food lived up to those recommendations - for me at least.

Good and atmosphere was excellent. It seemed that they were a little understaffed, but it might have been that they were just very busy with Sunday lunch service. 6 of us went for lunch, we all had different dishes, they were all very good. Highly recommended

Fantastic food, fantastic atmosphere, fantastic staff! This was our second visit and very enjoyable. The venue is out of this world. The staff are very attentive and welcoming and the food is delicious. Worth every penny!

Excellently located in the busy centre of Cardiff, has a sensibly wide menu, smart prompt service and tasty well presented food, thank you guys and gals.

We went here for a meal after having some small plates a few months prior that were absolutely divine so we had hopes plus seeing the Michelin Guide stickers on the windows... So we definitely had high hopes but found that the food was really pretty average. The starter was pretty one dimensional and the main, pork, was surprisingly very dry and lacking in flavour. The service was amazing, the decor and lighting all lovely but the food was just really bland unfortunately, definitely not worth the price in our eyes. We may come back to try again if the menu changes as our first experience sampling some small plates was incredible but as it stands there really are a lot better restaurants in Cardiff at similar price points!

Another lovely meal here. Buzzing atmosphere despite the somewhat dodgy weather. We shared the ‘potted pig’ starter; followed by the pork belly for myself and the brisket for my husband. Both were good. Only slight criticism was my pork had quite a few inedible lumps of fat on it- I guess that’s the risk you run when ordering that cut of meat. Overall- good and we will be back,

Fabulous food and service…We visited on Sunday with my parents for a late (as in 2 years!) theatre trip and pre theatre food. The service was impeccable and the food absolutely delicious. Thank you so much for your care and attention. Every single member of staff was outstanding.

We popped in for a meal before the Rugby. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Excellent food and I don't think I spent anymore than I would have going to a well known restaurant chain - only much better wine.

Visited on a Friday lunch as part of a leaving lunch for a work colleague. The food was top notch. Easily the best cook steak we had had in a very long time. Will be back for sure.

While I was slightly disappointed by the "potted pig" starter (just missed that je ne sais quoi), the reste was great. The atmosphere is really good and I can't say for the other tables but I had the best waitress™ I had in a long time. Kat showed the perfect balance of professionalism and friendlyness. I will return with my friends next time I am in Cardiff!

Very delicious meals, especially the pork belly and the pork terrine. We really enjoyed it. Also the staffs were nice and friendly, service was great and very efficient. Even though it’s busy, but we didn’t wait too long. Worth the price.

We were there as part of a large business gathering. The food I ate was excellent, all 3 courses. The wine was also very good, the choice very good. The restaurant ambience was fantastic down in the vaults. The staff were friendly and helpful.

We were staying in Cardiff for a couple of nights and booked The Potted Pig for the Friday night, it was one of the best bookings of our trip! The food was delicious, in particular the cockles and bacon to start and the pork belly for mains - delicious! Service was excellent, our waitress was friendly and happy to talk us through the menu and give us recommendations on both food and cocktails (which are also delicious!). Overall a lovely setting for dinner, great atmosphere and tasty food, we would 100% recommend!

Enjoyed a fabulous meal here, during a recent visit to Cardiff, our daughter lives here and had heard good things. We were not disappointed everything about our visit was a joy. Starting with a warm welcome and a fab lady helping us with our choices; every dish looked a picture and tasted delicious. A joyous meal.from start to finish. Definitely go when you need a delightful meal in Cardiff.

Menu propose le midi très bon . Le service a été impeccable . Nous avons beaucoup apprécié la cuisine et l’endroit calme et cosy .

We only went in for drinks but it was a lovely experience. Wish we could have stayed to eat as the menu looks amazing. There is an impressive gin selection and the restaurant is lovely inside.

Firstly had very warm welcome at Potted Pig by a great guy called Steve who super friendly, courteous and efficient. The place was very clean and well laid out and the atmosphere was. Loved the choice of food and drinks available and neither of us was disappointed with our choices. The food was well presented and tasted amazing. I will definitely return again.

This restaurant has a great reputation, but sadly my latest experience was pretty disappointing.Some of the dishes were good, and the staff were really attentive and professional, but sadly some of the dishes were not up to their usual standard.The potted pig starter particularly was really poor. It tasted overwhelmingly of cloves and nothing else. Even the curls of carrot that came with it tasted of nothing but overpowering clove. It was dry and really unpleasant to eat. It was really surprising that it would have been served tasting like that.The fish main was also slightly over cooked. Forgivable elsewhere, but in a restaurant of this quality - again - it was disappointing that it would be served like that.The croquetta starter and pork main were both perfectly good, but again lacked the extra attention to detail, flavours and textures you’d expect from a restaurant like this. The atmosphere was also quite stale. Covid restrictions like distances between tables that the restaurant has chosen to continue with perhaps had an impact on that, but it was very quiet, bare and plain, and just again didn’t feel up to the standard it should be.The most disappointing thing, is that I emailed the restaurant with this feedback shortly after eating there, and I apologised in the email for not raising these issues at the time (typical British embarrassment about complaining!) but also explained that I was doing so now in an email rather than an online review because I knew the impact a negative Tripadvisor review can have on a business. But despite getting an out of office response promising a reply, I’ve never heard back.I felt therefore that the restaurant might not have taken on board any of my comments, so it was only fair to other customers shelling out a lot of money to go to here, that I relate what our experience was like.

A very pleasant greeting and warm welcome. We ordered our food and didn’t have long to wait. I ordered the cockles for a starter. Even before I started eating, I went wow and that didn’t change when I tasted the food. Simply delicious, as was the belly pork main. A fantastic experience although I thought that a lot of the wine was overpriced. I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Came here for dinner however felt disappointed. The food was o.k but we expected a bit more, Definitely not worth the prices charged. Not a great atmosphere and the service was average.

We were out for a special occasion with friends and had an exceptional meal. The service was also excellent with our waitress Cat being friendly and knowledgable despite how busy it was. There was a great buzzy atmosphere about the place. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will return next time we are in Cardiff. Thank you!

First time here . It was ok but wouldn't rush back. Salad was bland and expensive for what it was. Friends who had the meat dishes said the same and portions were small. We had to ask for salt and pepper. That's basic stuff.

This restaurant is in an old bank vault, and the setting is great. The staff were polite and courteous but I didn't feel like they allowed enough time to properly look at the menus before trying to get an order out of you. Their drinks and wine lists are incredible and vast, so this was certainly a draw to the place. The food portions were decently sized and were certainly not small. The presentation and attention to detail was certainly a plus.My one gripe though is it seemed hideously expensive in hidden ways. The service charge was steep for the service I received (appreciate it can be taken off). But look out for nasty prices on things such as tonic and mixers. A single gin was £4 but the fever tree tonic was £3.60! That is far too much and would certainly put me off ordering a starter drink here again. Very nice food but for the prices they're charging, I would be reluctant to come back in a hurry

Absolutely marvellous food. Polite, friendly service.Two tiny criticisms. (1) Both fork and spoon should be provided for desserts served on a flat plate, not just a dessertspoon. Try eating ice-cream on a flat plate with just a spoon! (2) The thick ‘teacup’ was totally out of keeping with the style and atmosphere of the restaurant. I’m not expecting fine bone china, but even a mug at a greasy spoon would have been thinner and more pleasant for tea.

Amongst the usual mayhem at street level, this little find is perfectly located for a good lunch and the service is excellent. We were a little late getting to Cardiff but the kitchen waited for us to arrive and we had three good steaks. Suggest booking is a must.Not overly pricey and would recommend a repeat trip with the family!

Would 100% recommend! Friendly welcome, good amazing! super child friendly offering her food to arrived early and even cooked chips without salt for our little one (without me requesting - I’d forgotten with everything else I had to remember)

Haven’t been to the Potted Pig for a couple of years but it is simply as good as it always has been. Food is outstanding, service was good and understated and there is always a nice vibe in the restaurant itself. You just can’t go wrong coming here

Atmosphere was pretty non-existent. Portions were tiny for both mains and dessert, tasted ok but nothing special. Table was on uneven floor so the glasses kept sliding sideways. Prices astronomical, and with a large service charge. Wouldn't go back.

The restaurant were accommodating and I got the booking wrong but they sorted it in a flash and were brilliant. Staff were lovely! Sunday diner was immense! Starters I will admit I was a bit disappointed with the potted pig only because it was over powered by one flavour which I wasn’t keen on and I just expected a bit more from pulled pork type of starter especially when it’s named after the restaurant but the Sunday dinne and meat on the Sunday dinner was to die for! The Cheesecake was delicious as well
