After a walk at Bradgate Park we chose to stop in here for brunch. We checked the menu outside and were surprised to find that the prices inside had been inflated quite considerably. Did they forget to change the menu outside? I think probably not. After waiting for a table we then sat down on a dirty table to order, waited half an hour for our food, which then came out lukewarm at best and really quite underwhelming. £70 for 3 breakfasts, 3 drinks and pancakes is certainly steep I'd say, but when it is such poor quality I'm not sure how this place gets the reviews it does.

Long queue, then we were told they had no scones! It was barely after 2pm on a Sunday. Therefore, most were having drinking hot drinks only. Zero atmosphere from the till lady, very direct.

Having read the previous reviews we arrived at 9am for breakfast before walking Bradgate Park. The inside ground floor seating area is quite small although I did note upstairs seating (but didn’t view). By 09.15 the downstairs seating was full. Lots of great food options, ample vegetarian choice which was nice to see. I had the veggie hash (I didn’t realise how large this was!), daughter another veggie choice & husband The Bradgate. All piping hot & delicious. Great cake selection including GF. Toilets are situated upstairs. Only draw back, & I am being picky, the breakfast server was quite grump with us & others no smile & limited curtesy - I guess it was too early? Husband asked for tomato sauce with his breakfast & the portion size was v tiny.

Very overpriced for the food and drinks that we had. Breakfast was okay. But the coffee and smoothies were not good. I don’t mind paying over £40 for breakfast if the food matched the price.

Fabulous venue. Nice staff. A little surprised to have 2 x Toast 1 x Cappuccino & 1 x Latte was over £15 😳 Understand staff rates council tax heating lighting and supply costs are part of the cost. But over £4 for two small pieces of toast is steep. Sorry. Will still return.

We have been to the Old Post Office many times. The staff are lovely, the cakes are great and the gluten free cake is as good as it gets. The coffee is usually great (St Martin’s). The garden is really lovely when not overrun with dogs and carelessly parked bikes. Today was a bit of a letdown though - sticky tables, cleaning and furniture moving still going on after opening, loud and wince-inducing soundtrack and coffee not so well made. Prices have recently gone skyward - location is good but competition is also high as you can throw a stone and hit three other cafes. Almost £4 for toast is really not justifiable. Will keep going as anyone can have an off day but at these prices the basics really have to be done right …

Came for mother's Day lunch after a walk at bradgate, lucky enough to get a table. Food came out hot, fresh and fast. Read a review saying it is overpriced here - the prices are fair for the location, the cafe is opposite the most beautiful place in Leicester... Only reason I have given 4 instead of 5 is because the till kept breaking which meant a long wait queuing to order (not staffs fault, they're lovely) and the table was not cleaned before our food arrived so I had to tidy it myself (it was a busy Sunday lunchtime but still nice to have tables cleared regularly)

We have had a light lunch at this cafe twice recently. Both times we sat outside where there is a lot of seating in a pleasant rear outdoor area. It was a bit chilly, but the seating is comfortable and there were a few blankets provided which could be used for cover against the cold. We love the toasted sandwiches. The coffees are nice too. All tasty, but not cheap. Staff friendly on both occasions. Dog treats for sale, but again these are quite expensive.

Decided to visit nearby Bradgate Park, without having made a lunch plan. It was a sunny day, so took advantage of seating in the rear garden. The food is not inexpensive, but what we had was excellent, and overall good value. Wait times not bad, our food came in about half an hour, at peak time on busy Sunday, which did not trouble us, given that we were in pleasant surroundings. There is a saying that you "get what you pay for" sadly not always true, but definitely was today. Overall very enjoyable.

Me and my cousin are regular visitors to Bradgate Park but have only visited this cafe twice. On both occasions it has been lovely, from the food and drinks to the service. I have recently taken on a dairy free lifestyle and the different dairy free items on the menu to choose from is amazing. Most cafes I have visited they haven’t been very helpful with helping me with what I can eat but the staff here are just wonderful and so helpful! The roasted red pepper and hummus ciabatta is just amazing (with the hummus being homemade) and I could even have a deluxe hot chocolate and I can still enjoy it all without knowing there isn’t any dairy in it!! I cannot wait to make this a regular cafe every time I visit Bradgate Park and try more dishes on their menu!

Well the ciabatta morning breakfast was great, yes it's a bit pricey but due to the location you expect it. The table area is wonderful and real fire is a nice welcoming touch. The service was awesome and polite. The only things I would personally change is having black pudding avaible to us heathens that still like it. Oh the sausage rolls are amazing....I only go two places now for sausage rolls.. this being one of them.

Went after a walk in the park. The prices were extortionate. Ordered my daughter some toast as a snack and £3.75 for two slices of toast!! To have beans put on top costs a fiver, same price as a bacon sandwich. Prices illogical. Asked where the jam was as it was missing from our order and was asked to pay more for the jam even though it says it comes with it!! Pointed out it was on the menu and after a lot of discussion between staff I was begrudgingly given a tiny pot of jam. Not a friendly attitude I expected. There were a large number of dogs in there, yes they're dog friendly but one dog was actually jumping on a table. Had conversations with other tables about it and we were all in agreement that we thought it was wrong hygienically. There's being dog friendly and feeling like you're in a yapping pet rescue centre for coffee.

so i have been going to this tea room for many years and enjoyed it but i visited the other day after id been over the park walking my dog to find the layout had changed and i was told it was due to covid measures , why only now i ask ? and i will be honest it is very expensive but due to location i didnt mind but now i got my cake in a card board box and it was smashed to pieces by the time i got to my table and my coffee was served in a horrible cheap paper cup, and at the prices they charge i was horrified and so was others sat to the left of my table. the coffee tasted cheap and all else i could taste was gluey paper off this cup given. I have decided i will no longer visit there and my friends i usually meet up with there also agreed. See what doesnt make sense to me IF this was due to a covid measures they never cared before, and making people now wait in the line and door ways next to each other for a coffee that takes far to long to make isnt covid friendly and nothing you can say via a reply could change that as a customer I am explaining to you that youve made a big mistake and your covid measures are well below par. I believe its more about profit sadly as just with 2 of us have a coffee each and a slice of very small cake comes to £13 !!! so now me and my friends will find a new venue to meet at at half the price and get my coffee in a mug and a slice of cake that isnt done with after two scoops.

This used to be one of my favourite places to come to, but unfortunately every time I come the standard slips further and further down. Staff are generally friendly - with the exception of one lady who I suspect is the owner and doesn’t seem to want customers. They used to do a great breakfast, but now the sausages are really poor quality, and they use what I assume is the cheapest bread they can find, so I would no longer recommend eating any of the meals there. They’ve crammed tons of tables in together as well and it’s uncomfortable being so close to other diners, especially upstairs where you can’t move around easily.I’ve given 3 stars still as the cakes are still great and it’s a nice building.

I came here last Sunday 18th July, we arrived early and ordered two full english breakfasts, one bacon & egg sandwich and a tuna salad. As I had been here for breakfast in the previous weeks I thought all would be well. How wrong was I, the bacon was just about cooked, with a lot of white rind/ fat on. The sausages were certainly not the ones I had previously, they were very cheap, bland and had no colouring on the outside. I thought they may have been mixed up with the Doggie sausages? The Tuna salad left a lot to be desired, no dressing, just a lot of salad leaves with some slithers of carrot added, not sure if there was much of anything else in it. Very disappointed as I have had some lovely food in here in the past. It seems it's popularity is it's downfall, now going for cheaper quality produce.

Popped in with my Mum for tea and a cake. The cakes are all homemade and amazing. Gluten and dairy free cakes available. We had a few to take home as well (the chocolate and raspberry brownie is amazing). The other cakes we had were millionaires flapjack and vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream. We sat in the courtyard at the back of the cafe and it was lovely. We were sheltered from the traffic going by and it was also a sun trap so it was warm but shade was available if needed. Blankets were also available. The lady serving us was really nice. There was a great range of deluxe hot chocolates which we will be trying next time. For people wanting to visit with dogs they have food for them too which is a really nice touch. And as it’s next to Bradgate park you can go for a wander after or before. We will definitely be visiting again.

Excellent covid precautions in place and well adhered to. The inside seating area is very well set out allowing enough space between tables. Outside is lovely in the large space behind the tea shop, lots of seating. The reduced menu is good and the only thing we miss is being able to have a breakfast all day. The food is always very good quality and delicious. The lemon cake is so yummy lemon flavour in the sponge really lovely. One of my favourites is a chicken BLT, I love that they serve this hot. I have to mention that the scones here are delicious, I can only eat them if I don’t have a sandwich as they are filling and this time I like that the scones are served unwarmed, I prefer not to have my butter or cream melting. Service equally always very good too. Love it.

Sad to say that this cafe, which has always been the best of the bunch in Newtown Linford, has really gone downhill in terms of food quality and quantity since reopening. They have clearly changed their sources so the sausages and bacon, which used to be great, are now poor. And the quantity has also gone down. Full English is half the size it used to be (and half the size of their local competitors), as is scrambled eggs on toast. If you are looking for a decent breakfast you would do better at any of the other local cafes until The Post Office gets back to what it used to do so well.

The waitress quickly asked if we’d like to move to an undercover table or go inside. We stayed outside and the setting, though undercover was lovely. We called in today for a cream tea and to support the post office after its long closure, we thought that the closure was all due to Covid 19 but we're surprised to find upgrade work had been carried out and all for the better. It's still quaint inside but now it's got a spacious light look about it, add into this fresh light scones with jam, cream and a pot of tea and it's perfect. Newtown lindford has 4 fantastic places to enjoy refreshments but I'd suggest the others for a visit only if you can't get in the post office first

I really this cafe,.which do good breakfasts and has a nice atmosphere. Whenever me and the family go to Bradgate park, which is quite often, we go here for lunch and I've recommended it to people in the past. However, I was a little disappointed today, as my son likes the little biscuits that are normally given with tea or coffee in lots of places and used to be here. We were at the till and my son asked the waitress of he could have one. I said to him not to worry, I would be having one with tea so he would get mine. She replied that they only now serve them with coffee and would not let us have one. A little short sighted business wise i think, as seemed a bit mean. Cost cutting maybe, but surely they can't make that much difference!

We went there for breakfast prior to going for a walk in Bradgate Park (for which it is perfectly situated). The first thing I would say, is that they are missing a trick by calling the place 'tea rooms'. It conjures up images of tea and cake, but actually they serve a far more extensive menu than that, but you wouldn't know unless you went inside. The building itself is quaint and really nicely done out with a homely atmosphere, and lots of little rooms here and there. We all decided to go for the full English breakfast, and it was promptly served, freshly cooked and very tasty. The staff were really friendly too. I would definitely go back.

My first visit here and I wasn't disappointed. It's very quaint inside with low ceilings and a lovely log burner. The menu was more than ample for a country tearoom and they were very kind to adapt our choice. Rather than have a full breakfast bap (which sounded enormous) or a simple bacon or sausage bap, we asked if we could have a bacon bap for me and a sausage bap for my friend but with the addition of a fried egg and mushrooms. No problem at all and the price was appropriately adjusted. It was freshly cooked and delicious. The tea was also lovely with more than enough for two cups each. We planned a walk through Bradgate Park so didn't want to overstuff ourselves so we decided not to try the cakes but, oh dear, they did look lovely. There is plenty more seating upstairs up an old, creaky, but safe, staircase and there's loads more seating outside though not to be sampled on a cold November day. Perhaps another time....along with the cakes of course. There's also a small gift shop area with some lovely unusual gifts reasonably priced and I managed to buy a few Xmas stocking fillers. The only downside is that the toilets are upstairs but in an old place like this you have to fit them where you can I suppose. The ladies loo was very clean and well stocked. For anyone needing a downstairs loo, there's public loos just across the road inside Bradgate Park. I'll be sure to call again soon... to sample the cakes of course!

We often have either breakfast or afternoon tea at these tea rooms however the portion size of the cakes has gradually shrank to half the size you'd expect for the amount charged. If you want your cake on the generous size, go next door.

I visited this lovely little tea room with my mum as a birthday treat. We had a great selection of sandwiches and salad and also a large slice of cake.... scrumptious! Originally three cottages just be careful if you are any taller than 5 ft.

I walk in Bradgate Park several times a week having bought a season ticket..great value if you visit regularly...I digress..a fellow dog-walker said she was going in for a coffee, with her dog, so I decided to join her. How pleased I am. My small dog is aged so after he's walked for 20-30 minutes he has a buggy..NO PROBLEM!! We were made very welcome. There were others with dogs too.The coffee was delicious, the cakes & scones, all home-made, looked tempting...maybe next time..trying to lose weight!! I was given a loyalty card, each time I visit it is stamped & with ten stamps it's a free cake or scone. The place is homely, cosy, clean & welcoming..I am really looking forward to going on a cold crisp day as there's a lovely wood burner in the centre of the room & I just might try the breakfast which looked & smelt amazing. I cannot find any fault with the coffee, surroundings & helpful, polite & very friendly staff who kindly carried my coffee as was with my dog's buggy. Can't wait to call again!!

I finally managed to visit one afternoon just for cake!Recently I've had lunch so left no room for the delicious looking cakes. That was put right today.Worth waiting for, I tried a Victoria sponge and my friend had a chocolate cake. Both were as good as we hoped. Generous slices with plenty of cream.

Lots of nice things about the updated building and much more space to sit, even though it's a little gloomy in places and ceilings are very low! Food is nice but the cake thing is still not as good as the place next door which wins hands down in the cake stakes!

Really nice garden area at the tea rooms, lots of seating. Great to be able to sit outside and enjoy the good weather. Service always good, food freshly made. I really need to come just for cake as they always look so good but the sandwich or whatever I have for lunch fills me up too much to sample them.

Nice venue - now extended, offering breakfasts lunches etc. Always go for the scones - best for miles especially when freshly out of the oven. Can get very busy so sometimes waiting is an issue. Thoroughly recommend though.

Consistently good, both service and food. Very cosy inside on a cooler day and great seating for the summer outside.Very friendly staff, always busy here so they work hard.Loos upstairs so not good if you are not mobile but we use the loos just in the park entrance so no biggie.

My family and I regularly use the team room, it never disappoints. The thing we really love is that we can take our dog Jasper in with us (he loves the jar of doggie treats at the counter) so after a walk in Bradgate Park we can enjoy a tastie breakfast or lunch all together. If it's cold the wood burning stove is very welcoming and on a sunny day the garden is perfect for relaxing in the sunshine. The staff are lovely (especially Sue & Becky) and nothing is too much trouble, the food (and cake!!) is delicious and the prices are very reasonable too. We'd definitely recommend visiting this fab little tea room.

Our favourite cake place on the village although there is competition! Beautiful old building with a great makeover... Nice garden but it's the cakes that do it for me!!

We went in for drinks after a walk at Bradgate Park with the dog. The staff are very friendly and the dog was given fuss and treats! The cafe is cosy and warm and the drinks and cakes were lovely. It is not huge inside but when we visited it was easy to get a seat. the toilets were clean and accessed via the stairs at the back of cafe. It sounds lovely in the summer when the garden is available although I assume during the summer it would be more difficult to find a table! We very much enjoyed our visit and wouldn't hesitate to return!

Although it is a school/children's week off and it was manically bizee we still had a wonderful triple decker melt that was dreamy. Well worth the wait in the queue. It's a shame it's not table service but it's still a great little find and have and still will highly recommend. The cakes and scones are also delicious.

A fantastic night with friends enjoying the cocktail masterclass with Jerome a great bartender and entertainer. Jerome knows his stuff, easily explaining what to mix and how, with a little bit of science too. We gratefully accepted the cocktails he made so effortlessly and then had a go at making our own, Jerome’s teaching style made this fun and easy and overcame any of our nerves with encouragement and humour. Thanks for helping us have a great night out 5⭐️

Well the food hasn't even arrived yet and the service has been rude, surly and unfriendly. The place is freezing and the staff refused to put the heater on and then told us after 10 minutes of waiting, it would be 15 minutes for veggie sausage. Very overpriced. The breakfast was OK but beans and tomatoes, and eggs were tepid to say the least. Bloody awful.

Was surprised we’d never seen this place before. Good quality food. Always nice to find a new independent place to eat. Will be back soon to try more from the menu.

My most favourite little deli! Have been coming here for 11+ years and have never left disappointed. The food is fantastic and whenever I take people there (generally grabbing lunch with a colleague) they're always impressed with the quality of the food. Personal favourites are the brie and bacon baguette and THE WORLDS BEST lemon cheesecake (chefs kiss). Only slight criticisms would be the place gets so busy it can mean can't always eat in (shows how good the place is) and they're closed on a Monday which tends to be the day I work in the office so can't always nip in to the best deli in Leicestershire.
