Very poor service we were not allowed to order the afternoon tea as e we’re twenty minutes to early yet our food took an hour to arrive then we ended up not only did they bring the starters but also the mains all at the same time!!! Not good We took our cakes with us but they were sweet and sticky and not homemade and very overpriced As we spent well over a hundred pound in their I expected better unfortunatly I’m not sure I’d come back

The worst breakfast I’ve had in years. Totally inedible. Burnt sausage, black bacon that couldn’t be cut with a knife it was so tough. Stone cold eggs and mushrooms. When I complained they eventually offered a 10% discount. Really disappointed and as a local I definitely won’t be visiting again.

Was passing on a wet windy Monday and thought i'd drop in, not greeted at door, but when i enquired was led to a table, got the impression the young staff members were a bit off, maybe i read it wrong, but a surly demeanour and a lack of warmth was very much in evidence. Place was busy, was going to order the Full breakfast, but an elderly gentlemen on table in front of me was having one, it looked distinctly average, so went with the luxury Afternoon tea instead with Earl grey tea. Took about ten mins to arrive, tea first, a bit weak but pretty good, Food arrived on a stand and was fairly good for the price, 5 nice sandwiches, a scone, and some finger pastries, which though fairly decent had a bought in super market feel to them, overall though it was good for the price. Soup and sourdough was £9.95 in comparison. Polly's clearly is busy, and with a bit more presence and hospitality could be really good, it's clearly aimed at a traditional tea house market, but has diversified into the 'ham, egg and chips' Wetherspoons style menu, shame, it has a great location, and the selection of cakes on show looked good, maybe this works for them, but it does give it a bit of an identity crisis as to what it really is. All in all a decent place, but could be so much better it if focussed on it's strength's.

Let’s start with the good, the fish finger sandwich is absolutely phenomenal - healthy crispy battered mini fillets of fish (no BirdsEye here), nice bread, great tartar sauce, and crispy chips. However, service is slow, tables are nearly always sticky, and selling “pressed apple juice” but in reality serving cheap, transparent apple juice from concentrate is a bit of a violation.

My husband asked for a table away from the door, towards the inner cafe, but was told none were available (it most definitely wasn't busy and I could see tables) and they sat the four of us by the counter, obviously for ease of serving - well, the staff do come first, don't they? I could see a roll of eyes and exchange of smirks between the waitresses - do they think old people can't see them? Maybe... Anyway, the cafe is bland, not oldie worldy at all and really lacks atmosphere. We weren't worried, we just wanted a cup of tea and a bun/whatever. We didn't specify a particular tea, which is fine, and we got a large pot for 4 of us and a small jug of hot water. We had, in total, the large pot of tea, 4 crumpets and 2 teacakes and our bill came to £34.80 - I was really taken aback. My fault, but I had assumed that the £4.95 per person for either 2 crumpets or 1 teacake included a cup of tea, but, no, the pot of tea cost a staggering £15!! The 2 crumpets were £4.95 as was a single teacake. I'm afraid I didn't leave a tip, as I think we were already well, well overcharged and, anyway, the staff didn't deserve it. Will we be returning? I think you know the answer!!

Visited in April and had a delicious cream tea. So decided to go again for my birthday. Disappointed by the service. My family had their order brought out to them whilst I waited over 20mins for mine. By the time my savoury cream tea arrived my drink (pot of tea) had gone cold. The scone was supposed to be cheese and chive, it was cheese (no chive) and very dry. The menu stated that the scone came with cheeses which didn’t come out. Asked the waitress who returned with two small pieces of cheese on a large plate. Nobody came over to check whether our food was ok. No smile from staff who appeared unhappy and under pressure. I hope this was just a bad day as I had a lovely experience here only a few months ago.

We visited The Polly Tearooms in the early 2000s regularly. Back then they were fantastic and consistently good. The food was of a high standard. Then it either got sold to new owners or new managers took over and it was never the same again. We tried a few times but gone was the pickle with the ham, egg and chips. It just never lived up so we didn’t ever go back after 2010. Today we tried it again and it was awful. I had the Ham, Egg and Chips. I’ve never tasted ham as bad as this. Looked awful and presentation was awful. Chips were ok. Service was friendly but slow. The tea I had was so weak and I’d left to get strong. Maybe the tea bags were budget ones. It was so weak. Worst cup of tea I can remember. And it’s called a tearoom. Wouldn’t recommended.

Been a visitor for the last 55 years, & enjoyed a coffee & a slice of cake, or a breakfast, together with a pastry from the selection, to take away for later. In this case, we stopped in for breakfast, which was lovely, & then chose our pastries, for an afternoon snack, & a gingerbread gift (I must admit the selection is not what it was) On arriving home, I found there was in fact, no gift in the bag; even though I did check with the staff member about if she had included the gingerbread. However, WE WERE CHARGED FOR THE MISSING ITEM Despite numerous messages to resolve this matter, I've been completely ignored!

VENUE: Centrally located and easy to find, with plenty of meter parking available. Old fashioned tearoom with no frills. FOOD: I was a bit perturbed to read on the menu that absolutely no substitutions are allowed. This was followed by my tea of choice being unavailable as they had just used the last teabag ... very Faulty Towers! When our food eventually arrived, it was inedible - over cooked. stone cold and rock-hard toast. Cue John Cleese.... which brings me to.... SERVICE: Apparently staffed by untrained incompetent teenagers who appeared to provide their own uniforms. After we gave our order, two neighbouring tables placed similar orders. One of those tables received their breakfast so we chased ours up and again when the second table was served. After 50 minutes our inedible - over cooked. stone cold brunch with rock-hard toast arrived without an apology. So, we complained and received a barrage of excuses after the waitress had jabbed her finger into my hard poached egg to check its temperature: > She had to check (presumably in case we were lying); > Did we still not want to eat it?? SERIOUSLY! No food hygiene standards here! > They were understaffed as they had no washer upper; > The chef must have been busy; > I t wasn't her fault as she never left orders on the pass for more than two or three minutes; > We must have been late in placing our order so the chef would have been prioritising lunch orders; > At this point the neighbouring table joined in and said that their breakfast was cold and overcooked too. > We told the waitress that we did not want to hear any more of her excuses and were offered a begrudging refund but were expected to pay for our drinks despite being stuffed around for almost an hour. VALUE: Don't waste your money (or time)

I have been coming here since my child hood. It was a magical place for tea. Cakes and biscuits and delights. It is now a disappointment , an old girl gone shabby and stingy. The cakes and food are mediocre and less than creative. With the classics getting a ‘meh’. The place is shabby and the toilets a disgrace. I hope this wakes Polly up and she pulls up her sleeves and sets to work on bringing back the Polly we all loved of old but for the next decade and decades to come.

When I went up to the till to pay we were charged a staggering £12.50. Are these people serious? I was so tired that I just tapped my card but was thinking to myself can that be correct?! It bugged me all night and had we been staying nearby I would have definitely returned this morning to question this extortionate amount. I don't write many reviews but was so incensed by this that I felt the need to share this experience and warn others.

We were travelling back to Droitwich from Dorset and stopped at the Polly tea rooms for a break. We chose this place because my partner lived nearby years ago and liked it. It was a very hot day and we had Lily our dog with us. Polly Tearooms is not dog friendly but there were some seats outside on the pavement and we could sit outside with her. We asked for a bowl of water for her and this arrived promptly in a pretty bowl. My partner ordered iced coffee and a toasted tea cake. This arrived quickly and he was happy with his choice. There were alcoholic drinks available but no cider was on the drinks menu. Because it was such a hot day I wanted a long drink and a glass of cold cider would have been welcome. Peroni was on the menu but they had run out so I opted for another beer. I would not order that beer again! This tea room is well presented and the service was fine. The reason I have awarded only three stars is because it is not dog friendly and they did not have the beer that was on the menu. I have seen poor reviews for Polly Tea room. Do not be put off by these reviews. The place is well presented the service was good and there were things on the menu I would have chosen were it not for the fact we were short of time. Try this place for yourself the chances are you will have a good experience.

We drew the problem to a staff member who was suitably embarrassed and offered us anything for free on the menu. However we were somewhat put off by what had happened and decided to leave. It just raises questions concerning storage and checks that staff should be doing. It was a shame as we remembered eating here some years ago and it felt as if the place could do with some attention as it’s looking tired. Staff could show more enthusiasm as they seemed a little disinterested and more keen on having their own conversation.

I went into the polly tea rooms with my family, i thought it was supposed to be a posh traditional english tea room but instead we were met with a purely teenage run chaotic environment not to mention the obscene clothing choices of the staff (as if they are not managed at all). i sat down with my husband and two kids and ordered a slice of cake each along with 2 cups of coffee, after about 35 minutes these still hadn’t arrived so i went up to the counter to inquire, i was met by a rude teenage girl who told me they were on their way and there was nothing they could do. When i finally received my order the cakes tasted frozen (not worth the money charged). i would never recommend and hope the team at the polly tea rooms sorts themselves out before even calling themselves a tea room especially to the marlborough standards.

I have a dairy intolerance and was served a meal with butter, slaw and mayonnaise after I had told them about my intolerance. The meal was taken away and I was served a Ham baguette with most of the meat inside being just fat and I found spread in the roll. The mustard turned out to be mayonnaise with mustard seeds in it. My family member asked for Fish and chips yet she was served Fish with French fries. I ended leaving the cafe completely disgusted and will never return.

My family and I (two adults and a child) recently visited Whatley Manor for afternoon tea 09/10/23. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations, prompting this review. Despite booking a regular afternoon tea, we were charged £43.50 instead of the confirmed £37.50, citing a festive surcharge. Disappointingly, there were absolutely no noticeable festive elements to justify this added cost. Upon arrival, we were seated at a stark white, unadorned table, devoid of any seasonal decorations or even water glasses. The music being played just after we arrived wasn’t festive either. Our initial drinks and food were served promptly but for £140 (the entire amount of food in the attached photo), the value was awful. It consisted of three stale items, the Battenberg slice if you’re interested, accompanied by minimal service (no follow up on food and additional drinks and we had to go and find staff to ask to pay the bill) and a complete absence of the promised festive ambiance which after all was what the surcharge was for. Overall, this was an expensive and unsatisfactory afternoon tea experience. We have since had the festive surcharge refunded which we appreciate but I wouldn’t go back again or recommend the afternoon tea as an experience I’m afraid.

Someone recently wrote that staff were paid above average wages, I would like to tell her they’re paid minimum wages, and all too often they’re employed as temporary so they aren’t entitled to the annual bonus, sickness or holidays, although even the bonus has been non existent in the past two years either.

Wedding coordinators both amazing. Prompt and professional support and advice. Food was better than some Michelin restaurants I’ve been to. Five star quality; amazing service and would highly recommend. Venue went over and above what was necessary from free coffee to supporting external vendors and accommodation

Have a lovely stay here with friends, booked a triple room. The room was spacious and very comfortable, we booked an evening meal here and the owner was very helpful with the Thai menu as I'm unable to eat spicy food and her recommendation was delicious ( pad Thai noodles with chicken). Lovely breakfast and the owners were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again 👍
