Not been for along time I won't be back its not the same I would say quite poor 😕 had lasagna its the worst one I've ever had the chips are just poor scraggy ends mince not much betta

Lovely place and nice price lovely staff

Food was diabolical £26 pound and was not worth it at all exactly the same stuff u get in Aldi fish fingers soaking with oil not to menchine how scruffy the outside is bottles all over rubbish just all over the grass ants crawling all over the tables looks like it hasn't had a clean in months deffo won't be coming back !!

Had the burger but didn’t enjoy it because it was greasy. The toilets were run down as well and could do with a good clean. Its a shame because the place has potential and is good family pub. The kids enjoyed the playground. The staff were friendly.

Had granddaughters party staff were lovly food for kids 3.50 a head plenty burgers chips chicken nuggets let us take cake day before the pub it's self is dated but if brewery stopped charging ridiculous rents and did it up for tenants theyd have more of a chance

Lovely quiet dog friendly pub. We had the specials which were flatbreads & Chicken gyros. Reasonably priced. Very welcoming staff & friendly. Lovely beer garden & play area for the kids.

Absolutely unreal and an amazing atmisfere

Another great return visit to this lovely pub for Sunday lunch. Service speedy and friendly, food beautiful & we were fortunate enough to have the weather so we made use off the beer garden after food.

Food was good but waited over an hour for food . And about 30 mins between starter plates being taken and main ariving .

Went to today for a drink and let kids play this place is a gem nice to see the place so busy beer garden was beautiful staff couldn't do enough for us we decided to have lunch I have an intolerance and staff knew and fully trained of what to do which is amazing well done guys

got the dirty pig burger which was a burger with 'our own pulled pork' it was absolutely vile cheap frozen burger and the pulled pork were cheap strips of pork. the chips were like mush inside aswell. also got the cockn bull burger which was also vile wouldnt recommend to anyone. the service wasnt the best either the lady taking food orders had a terrible attitude spoke to us like rubbish

The place was completely empty one of the staff members came and played the slot machine which was directly behind us he had to squeeze in to play food wasn’t good fatty greasy and cheap ingredients and no soft drinks on tap weird atmosphere good thing is that the dogs were allowed in and they have them some treats but would not recommend

What a lovely pub, big place set in lovely grounds with plenty outside space and beer garden. Staff lovely and friendly and great food.

First time back at the Poachers for a long time. The food was delicious, the portions huge, piping hot and freshly cooked No pineapple for the 10 0z Gammon but two Fried Eggs instead of one....Winner. The place was spotless, service impeccable staff pleasant nothing too much trouble even a water bowl for our four legged companion. We will be back.

We booked a table for lunch on Sunday four of us all had different meals , which all arrived at the same time and were delicious

We live local and we on our way home and were about to drive past but thought we would pop in for a bite to eat. We just fancied a sandwich but forgot it was Sunday so decided we would have a meal instead. Hubby had the burger and I had mince and dumplings both were delicious and we didn't have long to wait. There were 3 young girls working the bar and serving and they were lovely, very polite and knew how to talk to us, which makes a lovely change these days because you go to some places where young people are serving and you're lucky to get 2 words out of them, but the staff here are lovely 🙂. Only reason I haven't given a 5 star is that the Guinness is not on draught which hubby prefers. We will definitely be back 🙂

Living local, first time I've been up since the place got took over. Had a nice walk up with the dog, dog friendly bar, although we sat outside as the sun was out. Ordered the chicken gyros, which came with chips and salad, ... must say it was absolutely beautiful!!!! Will most definitely be returning!!! Obviously had to have an ice cold pint of Bulmers. Nice staff, lovely food, ... 100% recommended. Keep up the good work , lovely friendly place. Didn't wait long for food either, and the prices were spot on!!!! 👌

First time back since lockdown, happy to see the pub is open but few things irked me. Me and my wife ordered soft drinks and they came in cans. Not sure why it could be for any reason just seems strange to me a pub would give me a can but charge me for a pint. Dogs loved it as always

After a lot of takeovers and bad experiences this place might finally be on the up. The place was heaving which was nice to see. We were a large group all having Sunday lunch. Food was delicious. Plenty of meat and veg all cooked nicely. Good service. I hope this place serves nice bar snacks through the week and makes the most of the summer. Need to nail that mid week market! Can’t survive on a busy Sunday alone.

Visited on the 26th January, food was great, £12 for 2 Yorkshire pudding wraps with chips. My daughter said her burger was amazing.They have reduced the beer and food prices since my last visit a few months ago and it is now great value.

Really lovely pub nipped in after a trip to the metrocentre, after speaking to the lady behind the bar it’s just recently been taken over this week. So we found it at the right time. I had the steak & ale pie, it was absolutely beautiful. Will definitely be returning when I’m next in the area. Bar is lovely, staff are friendly & cheap meals

Visited today with a large family party, car park was empty and so was inside. After this review you will know why. We waited a while for food even though we pre ordered due to the size of the party. When the Sunday dinner arrived there was hardly any amount of veg, turkey was veiny and fatty, gravy was watery and tastless, and the swede basically baby purée and was a tea spoon amount. Everything was cold or luke warm, I barely ate anything. They gave my daughter a bowl of mash potato which had very large clumps in and to add to this there was a hair in the mash potato they gave my daughter! Family all agreed the meal was awful and cold. I really didn't want to pay for this overpriced disgusting meal, but sadly we did. Do not recommend at all!! Must add we did visit a little while ago and it was a buffet style carvey and it was delicious! Not sure whether it's management or chef but something needs to change.

We have visited three times now and it’s been horrendous. The first two times were with previous owner and they shut the door on our faces as we were walking out which was very rude and abrupt and told us we could only have one drink baring in mind it was a Sunday and the pub closed at 9 and we left at 7pm. Me and my partner went today to see what it was like with the new owners and never felt so unwelcomed. They don’t speak you just get stared at. Staff aren’t trained we never got a check back once for either of our starters and mains. The beef was sirloin beef (pink) which didn’t state that on the menu.There should be a warning to customers when ordering as to which beef it is. Didn’t eat any of the food as it was disgusting. We waited 2 hours for a starter and a main to come. There was only one chef on. We then found out there was a lady who was coming to paint faces and the owner wasn’t in site to pay her and the staff seem disorganised and don’t know what to do with themselves.

What a great place. Full garden for good times, real nice inside and the food is worth bringing the family to. Nee Botha and in a great place.

Excellent lunchtime meal, all home cooked. The corned beef pie was the biggest slice I have ever been served, and will real chips, peas and gravy. My son had a Yorkshire Pudding wrap, full of chicken with chips and gravy. The dog was not forgotten and had a chicken doggie dinner, which was superb, complete with 2 yorkshire puddings, chicken and veg. Could have eaten it myself!!! Only marked 1 star down because we sat outside and the tables hadn't been checked, bird droppings on one we sat on. But other than that service was excellent and so was the food.

The poachers pocket was fine, I went for a leaving outside jam with band session which in their gardens is ideal plenty room plenty parking, no clue what the food is like as I took my own sandwiches, had a good day was a fair amount of folk turned out so all good, the whole atmosphere was relaxed which I loved.

We held our daughters 1st birthday party here! We couldn’t of asked anymore from the venue.enough bar staff to cater for our guests, always there when we needed anything and good communication beforehand! Would highly recommend for any celebration!!

Yes the buffet was good, the pub was lovely and the staff are cool and communitive, but they need a better selection of no alcoholic beer, there are some great brands apart from Heineken, (don't use Beck's there worse). Alcohol free beer has become a modern aspect in life, great for the thousands that Drive but enjoy a drink and won't get arrested ☺️😉.

Lovely friendly staff only popped in for a few drinks £9.40 for 2 pink gins with tonic so not too bad will definitely pop back to try the food.

Went for dinner today with my partner, the Sunday dinner was lovely! Very reasonably priced, big portions and was absolutely delicious! And the staff were great, very friendly and attentive. We will be returning!

Popped in for Sunday lunch on way home from shopping , there were a few people in but not overly busy. The place looked a bit tired and the carpet was in definite need of a vacuum, but I ignored it and thought hopefully the food is good. We ordered 2 Sunday lunches one chicken one lamb , after waiting about 20 mins the waitress came and said there was no lamb so my husband changed to the beef. Another family came in and were served their meals shortly after arriving (Sunday dinners) and we were still waiting so my husband went to ask if we had been forgotten. The waitress came back to say ours were on the way (they weren’t) , the chef had to do more chicken, it was 45 mins from ordering when our meals arrived , it looked ok but nothing fantastic, I was half way through mine when in the swede mash was a lump of white plastic! I called the waitress over showed her what I had found and I said it’s bad enough having waited 45 mins but then to find this , she apologised and said “I’ll show the chef as I only work here” She returned with an apology and said they would refund the meal and gave us £13 back. I personally think both meals should have been refunded but I didn’t argue the point as we just wanted to get out of there. We should have taken the empty car park as a sign , and needless to say we will definitely not be returning!

An amazing beer garden with a children's play area . Live music , dog friendly . Enjoyed my light lunch of halloumi my husband had chicken strips . Service was very friendly. We moved inside when it turned a bit cold. Plenty of parking spaces . What more do we need. Well done Poachers Pocket Dunston.

This place has new management and they're clearly making some big improvements. Hadn't been for years so thought we'd give it a try and weren't disappointed. Food was great, fresh and tasty and I'm told the chef makes a lot from scratch (unlike some places). Great value for the quality of food you get and all beautifully presented too. Not what you'd necessarily expect from a local pub so well worth a visit! We'll be back soon.

Excellent food. Chef has come from a well established fine dining restaurant in newcatsle and is using skills in pub environment. Very reasonably priced £10- 20 per head (for 2 course meal) would highly recommend

Recently heard it had been taken over by new management so wanted to see what it was like. Great food, nice and friendly atmosphere and can't grumble at the price. Plenty of COVID precautions in place making it feel safe and welcoming. Will be back soon

Me and my wife drink in this establishment every day after taking our dogs for a walk in the adjacent meadows. The lady that owns and runs the place is very welcoming and is always up for a conversation with us. Our dogs love this pub aswell they get treated like royalty of the owner. Brilliant place for a drink after walking your dogs

Went today for a family tea, would never go back, very disappointed, food was a disgrace, had nothing we asked for and when it came I wouldn’t have bothered, the excuse was the chef had nipped out, the woman knew what we got was disgusting but just laughed, not worth a visit

Went to the one in whickham. Refused to give my autistic child who is a terrible eater a bowl of plain pasta. Just said no. Had 2 other kids who would have eaten there. Don't bother taking children with special needs you wont get anything not on the menu.

Sunny day.Ordered meals and drinks at bar for 4 of us. 2 adults and 2 boys aged 10 and 12. None of us are overweight and know a decent portion when we see one.Adult meals were very small as were the boys. In fact, adults would have suited boys whereas their meals would have suited toddlers. There was no 'enjoy your meal', no interim 'is everything ok' and no 'how was it' at the end. Went to bar to discuss but staff were too busy entertaining a regular with gossip rather than keeping eye on bar. Went to Bay Horse in Whickhamthe next day and things so super with lovely staff, good sized meals and more competitive prices. Never again Poachers. Pity!

About three years ago I visited the Poachers Pocket and had a pleasant experience and thought call in again. I was not sure even if a table would be available on a Friday lunchtime. When I arrived the car park was virtually empty and thought it was closed. Inside there was only one couple in the building. I ordered hunters chicken and thought that at 8.95 it would be a reasonable meal. The salad was old and limp and should not have been served, the chips were tasteless and appeared to be from a supermarket frozen shelf. The hunters chicken again felt like it had been microwaved and not good. The service was poor, the young lad who served appeared not to want to be there. It would have been nice to see a smile or to say anything to make us welcome but nothing. He did not even know what the soup of the day was. Maybe we came on the wrong day but I was so disappointed when comparing to my previous visit

My favorite local without a doubt! My 5 year old son and I are always made to feel like valued customers by the lovely Angela and staff. Burgers are great and the Paella I recently tried was top notch! Thank you for all your efforts and service Poachers team.

We visited the poachers pocket recently and found the staff were very friendly helpful and attentive. We ordered the Sunday dinner, and it was substantial and tasted fantastic.The atmosphere was very family friendly and relaxed. We will be visiting again in the very near future.I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Absolutely amazing staff. I have auticistic child and giving him the food he wants is really hard work. The staff were amazing at getting him what he wanted. Chef even came out because nothing was on the menu that he would have. Very good and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended it
