Been twice this week. Both times food has not only been fantastic but served on hot plates I attend the Armed. Forces Veterans Breakfast Club twice a month and we're always well looked after

First time visitor, and won’t be the last Popped in for dinner to check the place out for its pub quiz. Staff are genuinely old style super friendly and we were greeted with a warm welcome The food is good ole, old school pub grub without the stupid prices being charged elsewhere. It even has a pie warmer for pasties, sausage rolls etc! Our food was amazing, served piping hot and delicious. The portions sizes are super generous, my wife’s ciabatta was packed full of ham and cheese. The mash with my pie was obviously home made and delicious (as was the pie) Food and drinks prices are what I call “local prices” and not over inflated for the holidaymaker market. Oh and the pub quiz (every other Monday) was extremely well run, fun, entertaining and there wasn’t a”Google” in sight 👍👍

Only thing tasty was the beef frozen turnip. Frozen carrots. Mushed up parsnip.frozen Roasties. Cabbage chopped so fine was very dry. Gravy warmed water . No taste at all

Great time here, we ordered stake chips and peas, it came with onion rings, tomato and mushrooms, cooked perfectly. It was outstanding 😊. Very much enjoyed by the family and friendly/polite staff too, plus the children's play area was a great bonus!

Pricey Pints and lacking in atmosphere. Used to be a go to for food but presently home to kids shouting and half pissed parents.

Visited this pub on our first visit to the area and was extremely impressed. The food looked as good as it tasted,the steak peas chips and onions rings mushrooms and tomato were cooked perfectly to my choice and thoroughly enjoyable! Will be popping back in the next few days

Dropped in for coffee with a friend, found a cosy corner, friendly public house.

Classic country pub, good for everyone including families. Tasty, generous food at a good price. Would highly recommend stopping here for a feed.

Carvery was bland/tasteless. Haven't been here for a while, won't be going back again. Don't waste your time and money on food here.

My husband ordered the steak and ale pie, he was a little disappointed as the meat was dry and not enough gravy inside.

Lewis and the team have worked hard to make this pub a friendly, inclusive place. Good food, reasonably priced.

Waited an hour for food - brought out wrong order - stated it would cost more to change the mash to chips ( chips were originally ordered) order not accepted and refunded - pricey for a pint £5.50

One main dish was lukewarm, otherwise the food was good. Our bottle of white wine was not chilled properly. Other than an ordered drink not arriving the service was good. Slightly disappointing experience.

Cheap drinks and a pool table. What more could you want?!

Love popping in on a Sunday for a few beers post long run, haven't quote made it for a roast yet, but it always smells nice.

We were staying down the road and this pub was recommended for food and for being dog friendly. Really nice welcome when we arrived, dog friendly, great array of real ale and cider, piping hot, tasty pie and mash and pie and chips for dinner, THE BEST CRISPIEST FLUFFIEST CHIPS I’ve ever eaten. A game of pool too. What’s not to like, lovely place for a pint or for dinner, 5*

Good food and good service, staff are friendly and efficient, prices are very reasonable

We arrived just after they'd finished serving food, so we had a quick drink before moving on. Barman was very polite, and our drinks were good. The pub seemed very busy.

Had a short visit to Cornwall and always call in. Real ale is always in good condition, shame only 2 on offer, I know Cornwall has a lot to offer. Looking forward to my next visit

Having lived in the area previously the ploughboy was close enough to be my "local" it's a generally nice place with a friendly atmosphere. This visit was for refreshments following a friend's funeral and the venue didn't disappoint the place being comfortable and inviting, the food was good and plentiful.

Nice atmosphere to enjoy a real ale and snack or pub meal.

Joined friends for carvery Christmas lunch. Food excellent with good choice, turkey, beef and gammon. Also varied choice of vegetables. Small or large plates available. Plenty of car park space.

Staying nearby, this seemed a good choice for food. Very much a locals pub, not too smart, but friendly, good offers on the menu, quick service and well cooked good pub food.

Food was excellent and served quickly.. It is a pub rather than a restaurant so we ordered at the bar and got our own cutlery and condiments. Prices were very good.

The Sunday roast is very good and not a bad price. Well worth a visit.

Friendly greetings on the phone when booking a table. The staff greeted us on entering the pub and made us feel welcome. We are in Saltash for a holiday and this has been far the best greeting from staff. The food was quick and delicious, 4 varied meals ordered and arrived altogether. The bar staff were helpful and we enjoyed our visit to this pub.

Food was not nice had curry staff had holes in tights not very smart asked for condiments got told where they were had to get them myself

Decided to try the place after reading good things about it, took one look at the most basic menu and decided to go elsewhere. It just wasn't for me.

Very friendly staff great selection of beers and ales. Had steak and ale pie. It was lovely

It's a shame the Ploughboy has gone down hill somewhat, the interior and exterior is looking very tired and unwelcoming, and reminiscent of an old folks home,.. the Sunday roast was average, not very hot, and very basic, I suppose at £9.99 you wouldn't expect more.. but I've had better for less.

Went there Sunday 4th June. Carvery was very nice but the cabbage wasn't as hot as it could be,also gravy could be a bit thicker. Only complaint is when there is no one waiting to be served the meat should be covered up. We all know chefs/ cooks work hard in this weather but I think the guy with the long beard should wear a net over it. Also a wipe around the Carvery area would make it more pleasing to the eye. On the whole we enjoyed our meal

Never been to the ploughboy,went for a carvery on Easter Sunday,for a Sunday it was busy, food was hot and plenty of fresh veg.Meat was cooked just right, 3 to choose from but me being me had a bit of each.We all enjoyed the food.Thanks guys..

Food was proper pub food and was ok.

Unwelcoming. Turned lights off whilst we was talking to friends. Desserts was in cabinet all week

Visted The ploughboy on Tuesday 21st March for a evening meal had a warm greeting and asked for a table for 4.we were given menus and chose a table. Menu was a good old English pub menu.two of us went for the rump steak and what a great choose plenty on the plate and the steak was so tender.A gammon steak and a lasagne were the other chooses in which both said its was delicious.A member of staff came to the table to ask if all our meals were ok.always a nice touch that some people care.will definitely be back again.

AVOID! Not even worth 1 star! Terrible place. Very run down and old fashioned. Awful service and not very clean. Toilets are gross and literally feel like your sitting on a metal bucket. I recommend saving yourself time and money and book somewhere else. Witherspoon is much better in my opinion.

Not really worth one star. Food was terrible, chips must have been fried in old old oil. Atmosphere nil out of 10. Must be working hard to maintain such a poor standard.

Go there for veterans breakfast and had a meal there tonight couldnt fault it jo and karen top notch people service with a smile and the food was great

Me & my friend had a lovely experience today at the ploughboy, the customer service was brilliant from sue at the bar, too the chef serving the carvery & even Karen the landlady was very friendly & welcoming. The food itself was just what the doctor ordered

Not my sort of pub but we went to a function and they catered for it very well. The food was really good. I had to clear the tables and hot stain area to make our guests more comfortable but it was Sunday caverybin main bar, so i suppose they were busy.

We had a meal last night mixed grill perfect.I can't see any problems with service Had a table for four no complaints and it was really bissy food very good 👍

Pub has had its bad times with poor owners and management. But that looks to be a thing of the past.

2diff prices got small or large but proved to n the same size server dident look good cold and poor quality

Went, with family, for the Sunday carvery, for the first time at the Ploughboy, Saltash. The meal was excellent! It was busy, but the pub was large and spacious so there was plenty of room for everyone to enjoy their meals in a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. First class experience, many thanks to all the staff!

First time ever going here but was great, nice big place, service was good and had scampi from the menu and it was delicious 😋 also nice atmosphere.

Well i be never eating or stepping in this place again food was awful the the staff are not welcoming what so ever and way over priced the vegetables were dry the meat was tough the drinks were over priced it use to be so nice there not now

AVOID Where the heck to start! You walk in and there is no atmosphere. No greets you, you just got and say your name. Member of staff stuffing her face in the most dignified way possible-NOT! Your then pointed out your table from the bar. No problem it was only us eating so it wasn't hard to find and only reserved ( that was our 4th clue to this was going to be awful) my son needed the loo, off he went and couldn't get in and nearly had an accident because the door was locked? Then your greeted with the server. I think he cooked the food in the grease from his hair, it was all but dripping. Food was dry, meat was "covered" with tin foil I use to term cover loosely. Got our food went back to the table, I was already put off, new I should if at the first sight if the server walked away but anyway took a but and the most was cold, certain the gammon wasn't cooked it had a raw meat texture to it. Yorkers were nice everything else horrendous. My sons chicken goujons were rock hard, certainly cooked that's for sure- a week ago!! We spent £47!!!! Absolutely disgusting none if us ate it. Toby Carvery is £10 more and that's with deserts. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE STEP FOOT IN THIS PLACE. ITS DULL AND BORING.

Booked a table for 7 on Friday 10th December. Wish I hadn't. Food appalling. Over cooked and burnt. Drinks are overpriced. £14.70 for a pint a glass of wine and a bottle of Corona!!!! Should have had a Chinese at home. Won't be going back.

Friendly staff, excellent food at reason prices

We visited today 30/07 whilst my partner waited at the bar for the one bar lady to serve about 12 people, I sat down. I could see into the kitchen, the chef picked his nose so we left within 10 mins of being there. Still hadn't been served.

I like the ploughboy, went over with a lady friend, had a lovely time, nice food, nice atmosphere

Stopped here whilst passing through. Good first impressions as the outside looks okay, and it is advertised that dogs are welcome, which was true. The menu was a bit basic, and the food reflected this. It wasn’t bad food, just a bit average for a big looking pub that advertises ‘great food’. The rooms were okay but the walls looked dirty. Also the toilets smelt horrid. Not a bad place, but could have been better. We weren’t given the best welcome either, very one worded and not a smile in sight. Understandable if ran off their feet but the place was nearly empty.

Over the last few weeks there has been a great improvement in the food especially now its under new management keep up the good work.

Reasonable priced food, friendly staff, garden

Not overly welcoming on arrival and didn't really explain the way the carvery worked. Food was okay but ran out of Yorkshire puds. It was quite busy so they must be doing something right.

Lovely pub, excellent service & great banter after a very long journey back home to Cornwall.

Feel like there is potential here but definitely didn't have a good experience today, rather than write a review as such I'll just share what I sent to who I ate with today. "I was trying to be positive today at plough as you'd bought us a meal, but in hindsight it felt a bit like the last supper in the midst of a zombie apocalypse 😬 service was confusing, the actual food wasn't horrendous although obviously we chose a bad time to go, the people after us had fresh joints of meat and stuff and that did look more like what I'd expect"
