Only visited this gem this afternoon for drinks, Service and atmosphere/ambience was brilliant. Delicious Cider. Would definitely recommend. See you again soon.

We had lunch on Saturday 24th august and were as always very impressed. Two of our group had food allergies and the team were able to adapt and cater for us with no fuss and took great care of the food. Service was fantastic, pub was busy and really nice atmosphere

It was recommended to me by a friend and it didn't disappoint. The staff very friendly and accommodating, the atmosphere was lovely and the food was absolutely amazing!

The food at this place is wonderful! My friend had most of the small plates which included very fresh and fluffy home made bread, plump and tasty olives, beautifully presented parmesan and truffle croquettes and some flatbreads with very tasty baba ganoush and harrissa. I had the torched mackerel with wasabi and pork loin with chimichurri and bone marrow jus. Both delightfully tasty and beautifully presented. We ate in the garden which was very nice. Service was great too. Highly recommended.

Sadly the set lunch menu, as advertised on their website, wasn't available, but we did get a discount on 2 à la carte courses. Lovely Mediterranean garden and plush loos. Pleasant but slightly expensive lunch outing.

Really chilled yummy food and it was great

Just popped in here with our dog for a drink and bite to eat, and this is an absolute gem. The best fish and chips I have ever had, the quality of the food is unbelievable. Super friendly staff. The outside makes you feel like you're abroad, with outside pizza oven, fire pit, lavish surroundings. Dogs are allowed in the bar area and outside but not in the restaurant. Highly recommend!

Love this restaurant! The PDR was fabulous, the food divine, the staff really looked after us and we all had a great time. Everyone was very impressed.......more new customers hopefully! I was very impressed with the level of pre-booking communication too.....definitely made things run more smoothly on the night.....including accommodating two surprise guests at short notice! This is a definite must to try.

To qualify, we only had drinks and snacks, but suffice to say from that experience, the service was polite, friendly, and responsive, and the ambience inside is smart, contemporary, and cosy. Outside, the area is fantastic, beautifully landscaped, a lovely sun trap, and fire pits for evenings. A great transformation from it's predecessor. Great job by the new owners. We'll be back to try the proper food menu soon!

I was happy to see this reopen as a pub/restaurant instead of being knocked down and made into houses like so many others. I'm glad to say it's excellent and has a bonus beautiful garden. Going on a Sunday meant roasts, and what excellent things they were. Lamb served slightly pink and pork loin with a perfect thin crunchy crackling. I'm looking forward to to giving it a go mid week as the starters promised a lot. The aubergine puree and pickled vegetables being standout.

A disappointing experience. We were welcomed immediately and soon seated at our booked table. The menu is simply laid out but lacking in detailed information. When questioned about the dishes the staff could not answer immediately, they did explain that this was the first day of the menu but I still would have expected the staff to know the dishes. Starters were: Red Mullet and Chicken Terrine. The fish was cooked En Papillote ( not mentioned on the menu ) The fish was perfectly cooked but lacked flavour, supposed to be with Orange and Fennel but these flavours failed to materialise, I feel it lacked seasoning. The Chicken was a good terrine but it was served with sourdough, thinly sliced and baked to a crisp which removed the texture and flavour I associate with sourdough. Mains were: Lamb rump and marinated chicken. The lamb was extremely rare, OK for me but I expect that it may be too rare for some people (just be aware of this)served with fries (everything came with fries. As it's spring I would have been happier with some new potatoes and seasonal veg. ) The Chicken was OK but flavour was seriously lacking, again served with fries. Desert was cheese, two very nice cheeses but again served with the destroyed sourdough. The other desert was cheesecake, the rhubarb flavour was discernible but there was very little evidence of the ginger. The staff were friendly and attentive but for the prices charged here I was expecting a lot more.

Fitted us in at short notice, great service & amazing food. We will be back :)

We were doing the Henley Arts Trail today so just popped in for something light. The business was refurbished 16 months ago and is beautiful. The service was excellent as was the food, great atmosphere and no quibbles when we said we would like to share as it was a full lunch menu and we were not that hungry . We shared a starter and a main at the same time. The food was well presented and tasted excellent. My friend and I will definitely be back and tell others. Not sure why as relative locals we did not know it was now such a gem. Thank you for accomodating us so gracefully.

Came for an evening meal with the extended family. Really tasty food and good atmosphere. Most of all, loverly staff who where really accommodating with the whole family

Really delicious quality food and a lovely pub which is also dog friendly 😊 We enjoyed our visit however there was reduced kitchen staff when we visited so mains did take an hour from when we sat down..

Fantastic service and fantastic food. Two of us had fish and chips, the batter on the fish was light and tasty. My friend had wagyu burger andI had lamb rump. The Portuguese house red wine was superb. We paid just over £25 each for starter and main course, with wine.

Excellent Sunday roast with good service

Just been for Sunday Lunch with the Family who are real foodies and love to critique restaurants. From the minute we entered the experience was outstanding. Service was excellent and very friendly. Despite this being a traditional Sunday Lunch, the food was amazing & complimented by some excellent wines at decent prices. Thanks to the team at The Plough for such a great lunch.

I’ve been to the Plough twice now, and both times the food was exceptional. Pound for pound, I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever had better. The staff and service are also brilliant, and the atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable. This place deserves all the plaudits it gets.

The best Sunday meal we have ever had. For the price value, it’s a must visit. The staff, especially the bartender Fernando, are lovely and super welcoming. Make sure you ask him for his old fashioned recipe!

Had another great meal at The Plough. I was impressed at what a great selection there was for those on a gluten free diet. Very pleasant staff, friendly, efficient and let’s face it…the food was delicious!

It's okay, very pricey. For example; £18 for just a burger. Sides such as chips are extra. Staff are lovely and the place itself, beautiful garden. Just wasn't impressed for the price sadly

What a delightful little place. Plenty of parking , beautifully decorated and service friendly. Food is delicious 😋 pig cheeks for starters, Wagyu beefburger with marmite butter and truffle mayo and egg custard tart for pudding each one utterly delicious. Will be going back even though an hour away.

Went today the 30th July 2023 I’ve been to many pubs in my time and this is by far up there as the best the food was absolutely brilliant as was the service the building is immaculately finished and the cleanliness top class come and enjoy as we did 😊 Ian / Tais

Comfortable atmosphere but food was dissapointing for the price point, sounded great on the menu but very underwhelming on delivery. Had also sold out of all the Sauvignon B except for the most expensive bottle. Disappointed and won’t make a return visit, a shame!

Best meal we had in the area, by far! The menu inside is chef led and excellent. The menu outside appears to be more casual but the pizzas and food look outstanding. The pork terrine was excellent as was the monkfish and our desserts. You cannot go wrong here. Cocktails were special and delightful.

I dropped by on Sunday afternoon for a quick beer. The staff were very welcoming and there was table service in the beer garden, which was very pleasant. I didn't order food but it looked great.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at The Plough. The refurbishment is beautiful, inside and outside. The menu selection is great and the Chefs are very talented - the food was excellent. Topped off with a great wine list and perfect service. The front of house team make you feel exceptionally welcome! Can't wait to return.

Walked from Henley with friends for early evening dinner. Knew it would be good as soon as we walked in. Fantastic decor, can see the kitchen working, checked out the private dining room which was fab.. Amazing dinner and cocktails and sat in the ferric beer garden afterwards to watch the sun go down. The beef sharing platter was unbelievable. The manager was great fun and very welcoming and a fellow google reviewer! Top man. We will be back!!

A wonderful evening at The Plough, Shiplake. The perfect place for occasion dining restaurant, 10 minutes from Henley-on-Thames and 15 minutes from Reading. From the moment we arrived, we had faultless service; the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Everything has been thoroughly thought about, with extreme attention to detail and a clear love and passion for food. From the unique menu to the beautifully designed interior decor; everything fit perfectly together.

This pub keeps getting better. Such beautiful design. Food is consistently good. Service is friendly and attentive. The gardens are really bedding in now and starting to bloom with an outdoor kitchen in the making that will be the cherry on the cake for this place.

Dropped in here for a quick drink at the bar with our American friend who wanted an English pub experience. He was not disappointed nor was I. Great landlord and team. Excellent range of locally sourced drinks. Barman par excellence. Lovely ambiance. Now looking forward to returning for a dinner.

Fabulous Mother’s Day meal at The Plough, Shiplake. What an absolute treat! Food - beyond superb! Hospitality - wonderful (and excellent)! Atmosphere - lovely! Setting - beautiful!

I expected a bit more for a bit less if honest. Menu was a bit limited unless you did a sharing board which to be fair was generous...it said 2-4 and probably fed 3 ... I had my own Monkfish dish... which had 2 pieces of monkfish which were excellent and 2 pieces of chicken which felt a bit random. Roast potatoes were a bit overdone so quite dry, but looked amazing. My pudding was described as white chocolate and was a bit of a disaster with some chocolate aero. A bit underwhelmed at 85 quid a head. Couldn't fault the outside or the interior.. they've obviously spent a lot of money to make it nice.

Refined menu and excellent, friendly service in a beautiful spot near great walks. Tasteful renovation and a garden that looks like it will be delightful in the summer.

Finally managed to get here for lunch today and it was worth the wait. There was a calm, cosy atmosphere with a real log fire and the staff were attentive throughout our time there. I had the monkfish and my friend had the burger. Definitely a notch up from the normal fish or burger plate. The presentation was excellent and all elements on the plates were well executed. Loved the truffle mayonnaise to accompany the fries. Portion size was good. Thanks to Fernando, the bar manager for recommending some lovely wine to accompany the meal. We were not hurried at any time but were checked on regularly - just the right balance. Will definitely return.

If you value quality The Plough is it. The cooking is outstanding and the staff are lovely with very reasonable prices. It's cosy and efficient. Some real creativity in the menu and beautiful presentation. Excellent.

Went here for a Friday evening dinner to celebrate a good week and we were more than pleasantly surprised. Such a warm welcome by the staff who were all very friendly We went for the foccatia while waiting for our starter and it was so warm, fresh and fluffy and combined with the garlic butter and onion jam it was a little slice of heaven. We had the charred trout and chicken terrine for starters and the texture and flavours of the trout was excellent and the chicken terrine was perfectly paired with the pickled mushrooms. For mains we had the venison and the monkfish which we can highly recommend. Excellent combination and who knew monkfish and chicken goes together SO well. Dessert was the cheese and sticky toffee pudding which is highly recommended! All in all, a perfect evening out for either a pint and hanging out in the bar or getting a proper gastro Pub experience. Ample parking with wide parking spots and the whole building os beautifully decorated in a mid-century modern nordic style. We'll be coming back soon!

Awesome evening. Imaginative dishes, all executed brilliantly. The indoor space is very stylish, warm and welcoming, and all the staff were very friendly. Cute bar area too. Outdoor space has been remodelled and looks great, and the carpark is also now much more convenient. Our first visit back since Ruth and the team had it as the Plowden Arms, it was special then - it's special once again and we look forward to many more visits. Well done.

First time visiting and will definitely be back. The bartender was excellent - the cocktail menu was extensive and he was more than happy to make anything not listed. The food was cooked to perfection and everyone was very impressed. Hands down the best lamb I have ever had. I hope this place gets the recognition it deserves.

Was so exiceted to see that is open after a long refurbishment went there for a quick drink and a small bite, and what can I say ..they did a great job in here, place looks amazing and you can tell they didn't compromise on quality. Food menu looks great and after tasting some nibbles I can't wait to come back for a proper meal . They have also a private dining area at the second floor, but I think the best part of this pub will be the garden area which is huge and looks amazing. I've seen they will have an outdoor kitchen and barbecue , great stuff will be cooked there for sure.

High quality and thoughtful refurbishment that offers an exciting, diverse menu. We all enjoyed our meals and the accompanying selection of drinks. We are excited about it in the summer as it boasts a huge garden area. Expect it will become a family favourite.
