Lovely find, welcoming staff, tasteful decor, excellent food and drink and beautiful rooms. Cannot rate this place highly enough. Booking essential, it was busy on Sunday when we arrived but there was still plenty of space for us and our black Labrador Angus. Will definitely be returning. Nial, Atilla and the team couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome, Angus got some fabulous treats and was very much at home in front of the fire. Thank you all for your hospitality.

We had booked a table for Sunday lunch with our two dogs but after reading a couple of negative reviews after we'd made the reservation, we were a little apprehensive. However our experience was a very positive one. We were immediately welcomed by very friendly staff and the food was of excellent quality. We had the 30 day aged sirloin of beef which was delicious, the vegetables were cooked to perfection served with lashings of gravy & big Yorkshire pud. We unfortunately couldn't manage a pudding as the main course filled us up! Would recommend Sunday lunch here! 😋

We were a group of seven - all family - visiting for Sunday lunch. It was lovely to be together. The pub is nicely decorated, and has a lovely feel about it. It has atmosphere, it has different rooms, it has nooks and crannies! The bar itself is small but well stocked. The food was excellent! I had the trio Sunday lunch, which had a slice of beef, a slice of pork, and a small chicken breast. All beautifully cooked, and tasty. The Yorkshire Pudding and the gravy were just perfect. The only downside to the meal was the service. For the price (which was okay because of the quality of the food) I was expecting a slightly more attentive staff. The team (especially the gentleman with the accent) was friendly but I felt they could have done with at least one more server. Overall, the pub and the food made for a pleasant get together.

We popped in on the off chance this evening for something to eat. My wife had fish and chips which was excellent and good value for money. I had the duo of pork which sadly was let down by the chef. The pork itself was tender and melted in your mouth. There was a couple of bits of brocoli which again was good with a nice jue to go with the meal. Then what spoilt the meal was 3 or 4 pork crunch out of a bag you would buy in a pub etc just thrown on the side of the plate, completely let the meal down.Little bit of mash or new potatoes or vegetables would have been a lot better. For the money I would have expected better.

Called here for Sunday dinner today. Ordered the beef and ale pie and the other mains all Sunday roast dinners. The pie was disappointing, all crust and carrots with little beef, certainly not worth the money. The Sunday roasts were average at best, the top slice of pork had dried out and curled up, tough roast potatoes. No check back unfortunately. We waited for what seemed an age after the main for our table to be cleared, in the end I had to call over a member of staff & ask for this to be done. Ordered deserts which were unremarkable. No check back again. Also we sat with empty glasses for half of the meal. The restaurant was on the cool side, the couple on the next table were also grumbling about this, and also about the hammer drilling that was going on in the next room! I couldn't bear further waiting for the bill so I paid at the bar, where again I wasn't asked how the meal had been. We didn't even get a goodbye upon leaving. Would not recommend or return on their current form.

Visited here for Sunday dinner. Roast pork was poor, the veg was average, Yorkshire pudding mainly fresh air, comes with gravy on. Beef and ale pie with mash and greens was very poor, all crust and carrots inside, very little beef. Apple and gooseberry crumble was average. Timothy Taylor's Landlord didn't quite clear and had a tang to it. Cold dining room, we weren't the only table to notice this. We even had to ask for our table to be cleared. Not value for money at all. No check back, never asked us for another drink, not asked how are meals were upon paying, and no goodbyes. Well it's a permanent goodbye from us.

My wife and I had a few days in the dales . Exploring the dales, we came across this inn The Plough we called in for a drink only there weren't many customers in at the time the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Looking around, we could see what a lovely place it was big inside, old and modern mixed together very tasteful there are a choice of restaurant and sitting areas the outside areas were kept beautiful with a large carpark. Noticed the meals being served, looked very good had we not eaten earlier we would definitely had eaten here. It's immaculate throughout. I don't know about the accommodation but going by what we have seen I'd say they'd be very nice . The Inn sits in a beautiful village, and for me, it's 5 star .

Had a 1 night stay. Staff, food and pub were all nice. Food especially was of a good standard and value. A little wait time for the evening meal food but you don’t mind that when it’s freshly cooked and good quality. We did find the decor in the room a little dark and also in the breakfast area. However this is personal preference and not a criticism of the pub. Our evening meal was in the beautiful bright conservatory. There is also a nice spacious outdoor seating area. It was very clean throughout. We will most definitely stay here again the next time we are in the area.

We stopped at the Plough for a meal during our recent holiday in Tosside. The place was great and the staff were better! They were so helpful and cheerful that it seemed as though we were their favourite guests, even though we weren't residents and hadn't visited previously. The food was plentiful and delicious as well as being good value for money - £20 for 2 courses. I would have preferred a smaller portion but I can't think of that as a negative.

Unbeknown to me, a suprise party had been organised at The Plough. After being on a wild goose chase with my husband, we eventually ended up there only to find the he conservatory full of my closest family and friends. Everyone had pre ordered their meals so it was just down to me to choose. The comments since my party have been amazing and I would like to pass this on to everyone involved. A special mention to Jono who I have knows all his life. He made sure we were all ok throughout the night. Even though we had been in the pub the night before, he never let on what was happening. Food was fantastic and we are lucky to have this venue on our doorstep and to call it out local. Thank you Jono and team. A very special place for us.

Bit of a spur of the moment decision to eat here, the weather was loveky, we were supposed to be going home but decided to stay another night and eat out, and having driven past the Plough we thought we’d give it a go! Sat outside the front in the sun was nice, comfy seats, large table and plenty of space to make the most of the weather The food came fairly quickly, and the standard was high, with a decent portion, the kids food was scaled down adults portions where you usually find kids meals are very basic so that was great to see. Some nice ales on tap, reasonably priced and friendly staff - oh and the homemade apple sauce you wanted feedback on; was lovely! Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area

Absolutely disgraceful service, we waited 1hr 49mins and had to raise the fact that we hadn’t been served with our meal. Meanwhile the front of house courted every other table ensuring all was well with their service, continuing to ignore ourselves. When our meals eventually arrived they were served by children, ensuring no further complaints could be levied. The table exactly opposite us ordered after us and received 3 courses before we raised our lack of service. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that they were drinking champagne! And to top it all off we were offered a 10% reduction to our bill as an apology for our inconvenience…really! Absolutely disgraceful service and I will never step foot in there again! 🤬

Fate brought us here! 😍 These guys are the absolute salt of the earth. After my son and I found ourselves stranded due to car problems and AA not considering our plea of help as didn't show as taxed on gov site yet had proof it was (that's another story altogether) we found this wee hotel and booked a double room as it was as no twins advertised. Upon arrival, I was actually approached outside asking if we were OK as he seen the distress of the car bonnet being up and my son and I looking wiped out (we had spent hours abandoned trying to find a way to get help from AA over 200 miles from home) He was a very welcome face and as I'd advised we have just booked a room and have had one he'll of a day, he kindly offered to go make up room into twins which I thought was fantastic at the off. As we went in we grabbed a seat and seen that food had stopped bear an hour ago, I was so concerned for my son as we hadn't eaten for quite some time due to events outwith our control. The staff here said please don't worry we will go see the chef see if he can make something which he happily said yes to. Honestly felt like crying, these folk don't know us and were so, so welcoming and wanted desperately to help us try settle, absolutely impeccable service 💙 my son thoroughly enjoyed his food and I relented to a wine to relax a bit, we sat in the wee lounge and told jokes and giggled and some of the staff even came over and sat with us and blethered, it was honestly the best. The room was lovely also and the breakfast the next day superb. Yet again everyone pulled out all the stops the next day to try help us, finding mechanics, offers of lifts to train station and so much more. Absolutely nothing was a bother. There is so much more to this story from the point of leaving The Plough but that's another chapter lol and this is, after all, a review of The Plough The staff delivered impeccable customer service and are very caring genuine people, who brightened our very dark day. I thank you that from the bottom of my heart The rooms were lively with lots of rustic character and the food was fantastic....oh and the wine lol. We are hoping to visit again in the next month to thank everyone for being the absolute best!! Thank you all, from the Scottish mum and son 💙🏴x

The Plough could be a lot better and such a waste of potential. The building and interior are really well designed and full of character but it’s cold inside despite some fires being lit and radiators being on. We think that fires are being lit and the radiators switched on too late in the morning to feel warm and comfortable for most people which for us is true. The food has so much potential but do the chefs actually taste and season their food before it comes out? I’m not going to critique each dish but all dishes we had elements of great food but somehow missed being great. The management needs strong leadership to pull this lovely hotel pub/ restaurant around. All we saw was very young people doing the best they knew how but hugely lacking in direction from someone more senior and experienced. Absolute shame because unless these issues are sorted it might end up being another closed venue. This is ofcourse just our opinion.

We turned up as a party of seven on a Sunday in February , early afternoon, without booking, and were quickly taken to a table in a lovely cosy room with a log fire. What a lovely pub/hotel, looks amazing from outside, and has a car park with plenty space. It's located in a beautiful area, with fields all around. Inside it's just lovely and cosy. I haven't stayed here yet, but given the high standards of everything else here I can only imagine the rooms and service will be top class. It was not busy. I was then asked three times for my name re the booking and shown to a table, given drinks menu. 30 minutes later the same girl that couldn’t retain my name came for our drinks order, giving us the menu’s. I told her we weren’t happy. The apparent man in charge came and when I explained he just stared at me and made me feel intimidated. Then left saying nothing. When the girl came back for our food order 15 minutes later, we left paying for our drinks. A whole hour wasted and feeling uncomfortable! I returned this weekend with my Son, thinking this was a one off glitch, it wasn’t, the same happened again. We left after our drinks. Totally unacceptable!

After using this outlet a good few times over the last 5yrs, to say we were looking forward to visiting again WAS an understatement, we arrived around 9.25pm (after pitching our caravan at the lovely site round the corner) on a beautiful warm Friday eveninng we found a lovely seat outside and thats where our enjoyable visit stopped!!! The drinks are exorbitantly priced, we asked for a Marlbrough Sauv Bl. Wine and was given A poor South African AND then at 10pm we were told it was last orders???? Quite different from what it says on their FB page, everyone can have a bad day so we tried again the following evening when NOT 1 member of staff not even the duty manager could tell us what time they were going to close on that evening OR on the following evening, they blamed this on the noisey 'KIDS' sat outside that actually weren't kids at all and were very polite 20 something farming adults that had very possibly just finished work!! AND if they were the problem then why on the Friday evening would they shut the pub leaving them still sat outside with drinks, AND also they allowed us and the young people to by EXTRA drinks at closing time, there were also locals from an adjacent village who suggested we should review the pub as it is affecting them and their social life too

A trip over to visiting family in Settle. They recommended The Plough to eat, as they loved their experience there the week before. Bit of a trek to get to, negotiating some pretty narrow lanes. Walking through the door, we immediately had high hopes of a nice meal. We were seated in the very well appointed restaurant. Every bit as nice as several michelin restaurants we have visited over the last year or so. My wife chose the asparagus starter with a crispy egg, which she really enjoyed. Although she didn't really get on with the black garlic puree. Just a personal preference. I saved myself for a main course. Superb main course choices on the menu. I was fancying the beef Chateaubriand, as its not something often seen on a menu. However my wife fancied the lamb and wild garlic risotto dish, whilst I opted for the pork belly dish. What can we say? Absolutely stunning. The presentation, the flavours. Certainly not your typical pub grub fare. Pork belly melted in the mouth and the accompanying sausage roll was superb. Although not a lamb fan, tried some of the lamb rump. Possibly the best lamb I've ever tried. Cooked to a T. Every bit as good as the lamb we had in a london michelin starred restaurant, several months ago. Decided to pass on dessert and enjoyed a drink back in the bar. Highly recommended if you enjoy quality cooked food. Thanks sis for recommending!

What a beautiful old pub, hidden away in the Craven scenery. It's actually quite handy for a little group of us that gets together occasionally, but for some reason we'd never tried it. After our lunch today, however, we're going to be regular customers. Note that at time of writing (mid-April 20230 it's closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, but do persevere - it will be well worth it. A nice friendly welcome and then a choice of three of my favourite beers - Black Sheep, Timothy Taylor Landlord and Guzzler Pale. We sat in the restaurant area and enjoyed a very filling and good-value "bap" lunch - roast beef and gravy, prawn cocktail and croque monsieur were all sampled and thoroughly enjoyed. The accompanying chips were superb! - golden and really crispy, which is difficult to achieve when doing skinny fries. Service was polite and friendly (thanks Evie) We would have loved a dessert but we were all just to full. All-in-all, a lovely meal in a lovely old pub - you couldn't beat it with a big stick!

No social distancing Smokers blocking entrance They told us to go in exit door So when inside people so close & huddled at the bar We left promptly How they are still open is beyond belief with current restrictions

Ordered homemade soup which was Tomato and Basil. It clearly came out of a tin with added dried herbs that didn’t taste of anything but was garnished with curly parsley. Chef’s parfait with toast arrived with melba toast that you buy from the supermarket in individual pkts in a box. The lamb shanks had temperatures of warm or hot with a jus that tasted burnt. Vegetables were tasteless. No social distancing at the bar. We were asked by the bar staff to leave by the entrance door to the establishment which we assume was because the exit doorway was obscured with people smoking. On closer inspection it was clear the place lacked cleanliness. The blinds, heaters and windowsill were filthy. My advice, steer clear of this place, the food is extortionate for supermarket fayre, social distancing in the bar is not happening, avoid this pub.

We recently dined at the Plough for the first time. We ordered roast beef dinners and steak and ale pies. My husband said the beef was tasty and tender, but the gravy was tasteless and watery. The carrots and brocolli were well cooked. My husband thought the roasties were frozen. Two of us had the steak and ale pie which was advertised as having short crust pastry. Normally I always ask about the pastry if it isn,t mentioned on the menu. However the pies came with puff pastry which was very disappointing. The meat and gravy in the pie was tender and tasty. Unfortunately they came with frozen fries, which are more suitable for burgers etc. I would always expect a good restaurant to have fresh peeled roast potatioes and chips. Such a shame as these problems could so easily be rectified...

7 members of my family met here for lunch for geographical reasons, wish we had found somewhere else. very impressive from the outside, and decent reviews. we were told the only roast available was chicken ( this was in an almost empty restaurant at 1pm on a Sunday, and only the "classic" part of the menu was available, I ordered the chicken dinner (with all the trimmings, as described on the menu ) I received 2 slices of chicken, no stuffing, a small Yorkshire pudding, a small dish with roast potatoes, carrots and broccoli (for 2 of us to share) and a very thin gravy... all luke warm. two other members of the party had steak pie with "fries " which looked like leftovers from a burger restaurant. now desserts, one member ask for chocolate fudge cake with ice cream, it came without ice cream, I asked for an home made scone with butter, jam and clotted cream,( as on the menu) and was told they only had fruit scones left, no problem, she then told me they didn't have any clotted bream, only runny double cream, so I said no problem, just give it a quick whisk, her reply was, no, it takes too long, sure enough the very small scone came with a pot of pouring cream to dip my scone in. I found all the items on the menu expensive for what they were, but on a positive note the coffee was good. I always like to leave a decent tip, but on this occasion I really didn't think it was worth anything at all. I really don't know where the photos of the food was taken, but it sure wasn't looking anything like we received

On holiday in Tosside we ventured to the Plough twice, as it was one of the nearest eaterise to our self-catering lodge. The welcome was effusive and the food was excellent. Just a pity it isn't open every night of the week.

Went here for lunch on holiday, we were the only people in there. The food was very nice (Steak & Ale Pie) however the décor could do with some upkeep, the chairs we sat on were very wobbly and the table was dusty and sticky.Needs some TLC I think.

In the middle of a 6 mile ramble, dropped in for lunch about 12:45; surprisingly not busy, but dealt with most efficiently, drinks and menu bought to table, waitress sevice excellent and the quality of the food first class. A most pleasant experience, and a note for ramblers - no request to take off muddy boots, as non-carpet and roaring fire just right!

As always we had a warm and friendly welcome. However I had the beef and it was very disappointing, stringy and tough with bits of fat that I couldn't cut through. I left most of it and told the waitress who said she would inform the kitchen. I didn't hear back. On a good note the roast potatoes were as good as ever and the gravy delicious.

My wife and I ate here twice during our week long visit to the Yorkshire Dales. Initially we came because it was very conveniently located just 200 metres from the Coachman's Cottage where we were staying. The owners of the cottage advised us that we should ring ahead as the pub isn't always open throughout the day during the week which is a shame as their food and service is very good and they deserve to get more customers through the door. We booked our first meal (Sunday lunch) which we were told is very popular and although it was the August Bank Holiday weekend we were extremely surprised to find that we were just one of three sets of dinners at 1.30pm The staff are very friendly and their Sunday Roast with real Yorkshire puds was very nice and we loved the gravy. We decided to eat here on our last night (Friday) and although the restaurant was busier on our second visit there were still only five sets of diners including ourselves at 7.00pm. They had a good variety of food to choose from and we quickly spotted that they had our favourite dish on the menu (Lamb Shank). The shank was a good size (unlike others that we have experienced on previous travels around the UK) and with the accompanying vegetables and red wine jus we thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.We would certainly come here again if we are visiting the area as the countryside is stunning and with a pub as good and as friendly as this what more could you ask for on your holiday.

Wow what a meal, the food was sooooo delicious. Lamb shank for me with mash and veg, lasagne for my husband. Both were truly amazing, big portions. So full, so worth it. Good beer and wine. And lovely welcoming staff. Even the Dog was made welcome. Highly recommend

The menu was varied and looked like we were in for a treat. We sat in the Conservatory which was too hot but the windows do open. The service was very slow I asked for mayonnaise and it came after I had finished eating. The meals were average except for the salad which was expensive and turned out to be an iceberg lettuce and little else. They did not have any king prawns so it came as a chicken salad. No dressing so it was dry. We were disappointed by the mains. However the apple pie was inspirational. Staff were pleasant but not enough of them.

Dropped in for lunch, by chance, when passing by. My wife had beef lasagne and my friend and myself had ploughman's salad. Well what can I say......I have never had a ploughman's like it before - cheese, ham, pork pie, pate, picalilli, branston pickle, pickled onions, bread roll and butter with a salad garnish. Hard put to finish it all. My wife's lasagne was perfect and served with garlic bread. The service was fabulous from two young ladies and all in all a very pleasant, reasonably priced lunch in lovely surroundings in a nice little village. We will go looking for them next time......and there will be a next time.

We were staying at the Gallaber Caravan Park for a few day. We had seen the pub earlier in the day - it looks very inviting and clean from the outside. We rang a booked a table for the Saturday evening. The conservatory restaurant was fairly quiet for a Saturday evening - yet many items on the menu were not available - ending up with a third choice of main course! The staff are lovely - a credit to the pub, but they certainly do not look over worked. There was nothing wrong with the food - but it did not really meet our expectations having read other reviews it was normal pub food - if we had ate it at lunch time inside the pub around the fire it would have been good, but we were expecting more restaurant style food. It was basic cooking.

We've visited many times and chosen from the breakfast menu which has always been first class. However today I decided to choose a punjabi lunch special which was brown lentil Dahl yogurt, salad and freshly made chapati, oh my word it was first class. Well worth the 36 mile round trip. The owner & waitress are lovely, so friendly and helpful and seem very genuine that you enjoy your visit. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed
