The room was brilliant, beautifully decorated and great amenities - everything we needed! Honestly very much recommend a stay here! Thank you to everyone at The Plough for such a wonderful stay!

Stayed here after doing the 3 Peaks and it was perfect. Really nice room, clean modern bathroom, good coffee/tea making facilities, very warm service from stepping in the door. The restaurant is also great. We had dinner here which I'd describe as really high quality comfort food. Then breakfast was also included with the room (which I don't think is well advertised!), there was a variety on offer, all fresh local ingredients. Very nice vibe in the place, log fires, nice bar, chilled restaurant. Would recommend it all.

Fate brought us here! 😍 These guys are the absolute salt of the earth. After my son and I found ourselves stranded due to car problems and AA not considering our plea of help as didn't show as taxed on gov site yet had proof it was (that's another story altogether) we found this wee hotel and booked a double room as it was as no twins advertised. Upon arrival, I was actually approached outside asking if we were OK as he seen the distress of the car bonnet being up and my son and I looking wiped out (we had spent hours abandoned trying to find a way to get help from AA over 200 miles from home) He was a very welcome face and as I'd advised we have just booked a room and have had one he'll of a day, he kindly offered to go make up room into twins which I thought was fantastic at the off. As we went in we grabbed a seat and seen that food had stopped bear an hour ago, I was so concerned for my son as we hadn't eaten for quite some time due to events outwith our control. The staff here said please don't worry we will go see the chef see if he can make something which he happily said yes to. Honestly felt like crying, these folk don't know us and were so, so welcoming and wanted desperately to help us try settle, absolutely impeccable service 💙 my son thoroughly enjoyed his food and I relented to a wine to relax a bit, we sat in the wee lounge and told jokes and giggled and some of the staff even came over and sat with us and blethered, it was honestly the best. The room was lovely also and the breakfast the next day superb. Yet again everyone pulled out all the stops the next day to try help us, finding mechanics, offers of lifts to train station and so much more. Absolutely nothing was a bother. There is so much more to this story from the point of leaving The Plough but that's another chapter lol and this is, after all, a review of The Plough The staff delivered impeccable customer service and are very caring genuine people, who brightened our very dark day. I thank you that from the bottom of my heart The rooms were lively with lots of rustic character and the food was fantastic....oh and the wine lol. We are hoping to visit again in the next month to thank everyone for being the absolute best!! Thank you all, from the Scottish mum and son 💙🏴x

The Plough could be a lot better and such a waste of potential. The building and interior are really well designed and full of character but it’s cold inside despite some fires being lit and radiators being on. We think that fires are being lit and the radiators switched on too late in the morning to feel warm and comfortable for most people which for us is true. The food has so much potential but do the chefs actually taste and season their food before it comes out? I’m not going to critique each dish but all dishes we had elements of great food but somehow missed being great. The management needs strong leadership to pull this lovely hotel pub/ restaurant around. All we saw was very young people doing the best they knew how but hugely lacking in direction from someone more senior and experienced. Absolute shame because unless these issues are sorted it might end up being another closed venue. This is ofcourse just our opinion.

We turned up as a party of seven on a Sunday in February , early afternoon, without booking, and were quickly taken to a table in a lovely cosy room with a log fire. What a lovely pub/hotel, looks amazing from outside, and has a car park with plenty space. It's located in a beautiful area, with fields all around. Inside it's just lovely and cosy. I haven't stayed here yet, but given the high standards of everything else here I can only imagine the rooms and service will be top class. We all ordered lunch, and were very impressed with the service, and the food which was first class, fresh and tasty. Just top notch. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall what a gem of a pub/hotel in a beautiful location.

We went to The Plough for my husband's birthday meal. It's a beautiful place, very tastefully decorated, but still retaining the old coaching house, village inn feel. The wines were very reasonably priced and the ones we had were excellent. Husband informs me his beers were top notch. (Hetton Pale Ale and Timothy Taylor's Landlord). Our food was really delicious. A cut above pub grub, but not overly fussy or pretentious. The staff were all super friendly and very helpful. All in all a great night out and we can't wait to go back again.

I visited the Plough with a friend as I had been before and it was very good. We waited at the bar to be shown to our booked table whilst we were ignored for approximately 15 minutes. It was not busy. I was then asked three times for my name re the booking and shown to a table, given drinks menu. 30 minutes later the same girl that couldn’t retain my name came for our drinks order, giving us the menu’s. I told her we weren’t happy. The apparent man in charge came and when I explained he just stared at me and made me feel intimidated. Then left saying nothing. When the girl came back for our food order 15 minutes later, we left paying for our drinks. A whole hour wasted and feeling uncomfortable! I returned this weekend with my Son, thinking this was a one off glitch, it wasn’t, the same happened again. We left after our drinks. Totally unacceptable!

After using this outlet a good few times over the last 5yrs, to say we were looking forward to visiting again WAS an understatement, we arrived around 9.25pm (after pitching our caravan at the lovely site round the corner) on a beautiful warm Friday eveninng we found a lovely seat outside and thats where our enjoyable visit stopped!!! The drinks are exorbitantly priced, we asked for a Marlbrough Sauv Bl. Wine and was given A poor South African AND then at 10pm we were told it was last orders???? Quite different from what it says on their FB page, everyone can have a bad day so we tried again the following evening when NOT 1 member of staff not even the duty manager could tell us what time they were going to close on that evening OR on the following evening, they blamed this on the noisey 'KIDS' sat outside that actually weren't kids at all and were very polite 20 something farming adults that had very possibly just finished work!! AND if they were the problem then why on the Friday evening would they shut the pub leaving them still sat outside with drinks, AND also they allowed us and the young people to by EXTRA drinks at closing time, there were also locals from an adjacent village who suggested we should review the pub as it is affecting them and their social life too

A trip over to visiting family in Settle. They recommended The Plough to eat, as they loved their experience there the week before. Bit of a trek to get to, negotiating some pretty narrow lanes. Walking through the door, we immediately had high hopes of a nice meal. We were seated in the very well appointed restaurant. Every bit as nice as several michelin restaurants we have visited over the last year or so. My wife chose the asparagus starter with a crispy egg, which she really enjoyed. Although she didn't really get on with the black garlic puree. Just a personal preference. I saved myself for a main course. Superb main course choices on the menu. I was fancying the beef Chateaubriand, as its not something often seen on a menu. However my wife fancied the lamb and wild garlic risotto dish, whilst I opted for the pork belly dish. What can we say? Absolutely stunning. The presentation, the flavours. Certainly not your typical pub grub fare. Pork belly melted in the mouth and the accompanying sausage roll was superb. Although not a lamb fan, tried some of the lamb rump. Possibly the best lamb I've ever tried. Cooked to a T. Every bit as good as the lamb we had in a london michelin starred restaurant, several months ago. Decided to pass on dessert and enjoyed a drink back in the bar. Highly recommended if you enjoy quality cooked food. Thanks sis for recommending!

What a beautiful old pub, hidden away in the Craven scenery. It's actually quite handy for a little group of us that gets together occasionally, but for some reason we'd never tried it. After our lunch today, however, we're going to be regular customers. Note that at time of writing (mid-April 20230 it's closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, but do persevere - it will be well worth it. A nice friendly welcome and then a choice of three of my favourite beers - Black Sheep, Timothy Taylor Landlord and Guzzler Pale. We sat in the restaurant area and enjoyed a very filling and good-value "bap" lunch - roast beef and gravy, prawn cocktail and croque monsieur were all sampled and thoroughly enjoyed. The accompanying chips were superb! - golden and really crispy, which is difficult to achieve when doing skinny fries. Service was polite and friendly (thanks Evie) We would have loved a dessert but we were all just to full. All-in-all, a lovely meal in a lovely old pub - you couldn't beat it with a big stick!

Ordered homemade soup which was Tomato and Basil. It clearly came out of a tin with added dried herbs that didn’t taste of anything but was garnished with curly parsley. Chef’s parfait with toast arrived with melba toast that you buy from the supermarket in individual pkts in a box. The lamb shanks had temperatures of warm or hot with a jus that tasted burnt. Vegetables were tasteless. No social distancing at the bar. We were asked by the bar staff to leave by the entrance door to the establishment which we assume was because the exit doorway was obscured with people smoking. On closer inspection it was clear the place lacked cleanliness. The blinds, heaters and windowsill were filthy. My advice, steer clear of this place, the food is extortionate for supermarket fayre, social distancing in the bar is not happening, avoid this pub.

The carrots and brocolli were well cooked. My husband thought the roasties were frozen. Two of us had the steak and ale pie which was advertised as having short crust pastry. Normally I always ask about the pastry if it isn,t mentioned on the menu. However the pies came with puff pastry which was very disappointing. The meat and gravy in the pie was tender and tasty. Unfortunately they came with frozen fries, which are more suitable for burgers etc. I would always expect a good restaurant to have fresh peeled roast potatioes and chips. 7 members of my family met here for lunch for geographical reasons, wish we had found somewhere else. very impressive from the outside, and decent reviews. we were told the only roast available was chicken ( this was in an almost empty restaurant at 1pm on a Sunday, and only the "classic" part of the menu was available, I ordered the chicken dinner (with all the trimmings, as described on the menu ) I received 2 slices of chicken, no stuffing, a small Yorkshire pudding, a small dish with roast potatoes, carrots and broccoli (for 2 of us to share) and a very thin gravy... all luke warm. two other members of the party had steak pie with "fries " which looked like leftovers from a burger restaurant. now desserts, one member ask for chocolate fudge cake with ice cream, it came without ice cream, I asked for an home made scone with butter, jam and clotted cream,( as on the menu) and was told they only had fruit scones left, no problem, she then told me they didn't have any clotted bream, only runny double cream, so I said no problem, just give it a quick whisk, her reply was, no, it takes too long, sure enough the very small scone came with a pot of pouring cream to dip my scone in. I found all the items on the menu expensive for what they were, but on a positive note the coffee was good. I always like to leave a decent tip, but on this occasion I really didn't think it was worth anything at all. I really don't know where the photos of the food was taken, but it sure wasn't looking anything like we received

My wife and I ate here twice during our week long visit to the Yorkshire Dales. Initially we came because it was very conveniently located just 200 metres from the Coachman's Cottage where we were staying. The owners of the cottage advised us that we should ring ahead as the pub isn't always open throughout the day during the week which is a shame as their food and service is very good and they deserve to get more customers through the door. We booked our first meal (Sunday lunch) which we were told is very popular and although it was the August Bank Holiday weekend we were extremely surprised to find that we were just one of three sets of dinners at 1.30pm The staff are very friendly and their Sunday Roast with real Yorkshire puds was very nice and we loved the gravy. We decided to eat here on our last night (Friday) and although the restaurant was busier on our second visit there were still only five sets of diners including ourselves at 7.00pm. They had a good variety of food to choose from and we quickly spotted that they had our favourite dish on the menu (Lamb Shank). The shank was a good size (unlike others that we have experienced on previous travels around the UK) and with the accompanying vegetables and red wine jus we thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.We would certainly come here again if we are visiting the area as the countryside is stunning and with a pub as good and as friendly as this what more could you ask for on your holiday.

We rang a booked a table for the Saturday evening. The conservatory restaurant was fairly quiet for a Saturday evening - yet many items on the menu were not available - ending up with a third choice of main course! The staff are lovely - a credit to the pub, but they certainly do not look over worked. There was nothing wrong with the food - but it did not really meet our expectations having read other reviews it was normal pub food - if we had ate it at lunch time inside the pub around the fire it would have been good, but we were expecting more restaurant style food. It was basic cooking.

We called in for a meal on the way to Settle . There was plenty of choice ( even for vegetarians !) and we both went for the ploughman' s lunch - one veggie version and one meaty. Beautifully presented with every element to a high standard . My veggie version had roast mushroom pate, cheddar cheese, veggie scotch egg , salad , new potatoes (warm!) , bread , piccalilli, onions and chutney. It was perfect. Service was very warm , friendly and prompt. Oh and my glass of Sauvignon was chilled to perfection too. Couldn't fault it and will definitely return.

No fuss and no frills but certainly filled a hole. Was all on the dry side and being in Yorkshire we thought gravy was a little lacking. But all we needed was a filling dinner and that's what we got.

Visited the Plough today for a late lunch. it was not very busy, but very welcoming with two roaring fires going. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. I had a main course, my friend had soup with a portion of massive sized proper chips. Both were excellent and very filling. My sausages probably had the most meat in them I have ever tasted...hardly any rusk. What a great local, wished I lived in Wigglesworth. A great pub. I have just read a review published in the last few days and the authors comments are very similar to mine. brilliant.

Don't usually place reviews but felt I really needed to on this occasion. Went to the Plough Inn last night for an evening meal with my partner for her birthday. Food was amazing, proper hearty grub, plentiful portions at reasonable prices.

Went for lunch with a party that was pre-booked and with all the food pre-ordered. Thus we would have hoped the restaurant could cope. The staff were friendly and welcoming, but with one person serving a party of about twenty, there were almost bound to be problems. We were sitting at small tables of 4-6, with friends. Because the food was brought out according to what had been selected, we inevitably had to wait, out of politeness, until all at the table was served before starting to eat. My pate was delicious. However, the vegetarian option was not. The chestnut and mushroom roulade was more mushroom than chestnut (I failed to find one) and the sauce that accompanied it was insufficient. The vegetables (carrots and broccoli) were cold. Cannot recommend.

Went on a Sunday as part of a large group for their cavery lunch. It was very empty (revealing?) One item was not available in the starter menu (not for the first time). Main course was just okay, but not very generous on the meat and the Yorkshire puddings were very dry and slightly burnt. The desserts were by far the best quality items on the menu. Prices were reasonable and there were some good real ales. Overall just okay, but I'm unlikely to return.

I cannot fault this place at all, it is truly amazing! The food was delicious and not one single complaint from any of our party group. There was loads of food and so we felt bad leaving some as it was so good! I'm sure everything we had was homemade and very good quality. The staff were fantastic, very accommodating, very friendly and very professional. We had told them in advance about the party we were having and they had pre planned it and made the occasion so wonderful and memorable. The restaurant and toilets were very clean, I will definitely be visiting again with my family. Without a doubt the best restaurant I have ever visited. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience 10/10 for a very lovely restaurant

The mushroom and chestnut wellington was delicious! The food here is quite good, you get large portions, and the interior of this pub is really nice and cosy. Desserts are pricey and don't taste as good as they look. Overall, a nice enough place to eat.

We spent a very enjoyable week at Gamekeepers Cottage in Wigglesworth and ate at The Plough on two evenings and also the Sunday lunchtime (great roast). Every meal was excellent and the staff always friendly and helpful. We also liked the fact that tables were quite nicely spread out so you are not knocking elbows with the next table as can often be the case! Definitely recommend this pub.

Had an evening meal at the Plough last Saturday. I ordered the rib eye steak, medium rare. When it arrived it was a think steak about 1cm think. When cut into the steak was clearly over cooked. More like medium/well to well done.... There was no pink inside. When this was pointed out to the waiter it was reported to the chef... I was offered a free drink but I had a large lemonade already so declined. I left 1/4 of my steak so chef could see when it was returned to the kitchen. I was offered a free dessert but declined as I wasn't impressed with the steak so what would the dessert be like! When I went to pay I saw Gemma, I assume the manager? She said she had seen the steak I left and was happy that it was medium rare.. Completely dismayed by the lack of knowledge on how a steak should be cooked by the "chef" but then to agree and say it's fine is shocking! Not offered anything off the bill and seeing that my steak was £16.95 I was utterly dissatisfied. I will not return, I urge others not to eat there, or atleast wait for a new chef... And the attitude of the manager was disgraceful.....

I wasn't going to write a review but after reading your response to a recent visitor I feel I should and don't mean any disrespect .After booking for 2 o clock we arrived just before and was seated in the large room it was 20 mins before our order was taken,we both had the garlic mushrooms which looked more like sliced tin mushrooms with bits of a clove of garlic mixed in we did not eat all of them.I had the steak and ale pie the meat was cooked fine but yes the pastry topping was solid it just broke with the knife you could not cut it the same happened with the 2 bikers sat behind .

We stayed at the Plough last night. We had a warm welcome and the staff were generally very friendly and helpful. Our room was pleasant, clean, warm and comfortable. We ate our evening meal in the restaurant. We had a bit of a wait for our meal but were offered a free drink each as compensation - two large glasses of wine which we thought was more than generous. I'm surprised by one of the reviews below, because I thought the garlic mushrooms were nice and my friend really enjoyed the steak and ale pie and chunky chips! The restaurant was warm and the real fire added to the atmosphere.

My wife and I were regular diners at The Plough in Wigglesworth for quite some time. The previous owners, Teresa and Philip, served up excellent food. Last year, when they moved on and the current owners took over, my wife and I went in and ate there but it wasn't up to the same standards. Thinking it may be teething problems, we left it several months and gave it another try over the weekend. It really hasn't improved one iota!
