We went here today for a lovely breakfast. 3 vegetarians and one vegan. The welcome was lovely and we instantly felt relaxed. The choice for vegetarians and plant based were very good. We had the vegetarian breakfast, the avocado on toast (with hash brown and vegan sausage) and the eggs benedict (without the ham and an extra egg and hash brown). The food was amazing. The items were so fresh and the presentation was top class. This breakfast belonged in a fine dining establishment. The drinks were also lovely and our son particularly likes his chocolate milkshake with handmade chocolate. We also splashed out on some glasses of fizz. Felt the prices were very reasonable. Lovely hosts, great atmosphere, good prices and superb food. Thank you for having us. We loved it and haven’t eaten a thing since (well apart from the boys who had their lovely brownies!).

We visited as a party of 11 for a birthday lunch. We had pre-ordered our food, arrival 12.15 to eat at 12.30, the service was a little slow our mains arrived at 12.55 but we were not in a rush, all the food was lovely with plentiful veg & extra gravy. The desserts were fantastic and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Aside from the food being a little slow our drinks came at 4 different times with the waiting staff brining 2 at a time when maybe a tray would have been a better option. It was a busy Sunday Lunch and not a big issue for us but maybe a few tweaks with the waiting staff training would have pushed the review up to a 5. All in all a pleasant experience in a nice setting.

We went here for Easter Sunday, the pub was very clean and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately the service was so slow, we sat there for nearly two hours, it was really really long, even to clear plates or get the card machine took forever. Unfortunately it wasn’t worth the wait, the food was very bland and under seasoned, was luke warm and had items missing (lamb on the mixed roast). Lovely setting just disappointing service and food.

We walked through the door last minute on a Sunday afternoon and we're greeted with absolutely superb customer service. We have 2 young children with us who were given toys and colouring and we were shown upstairs which was perfect for us out the way so the children could play. The roast dinner meat was delicious, the vegetables cooked to perfection and our table service was not forgotten about at all even though we were out the way. It was absolutely spot on and a lovely way to end the day, thanks so much to all who work at the Plough <3

We enjoyed an excellent family lunch at this attractive restaurant. The service was very friendly and accommodating and the food was inventive and interesting, beautifully presented and very tasty. The restaurant was very child-friendly too. My husband had the fish and chips, which was a generous portion and very enjoyable. My steak and ale pie with a twist was also very tasty. The desserts were excellent too. The portion of sticky toffee pudding with gingerbread ice cream was enormous and delectable. Well done everyone at The Plough. We really enjoyed my birthday treat.

This pub is an absolute 10/10 for service and food, went in November with parents for breakfast and I can’t fault it all the food was cooked fresh the standard of the ingredients was very high and the service the front of house lady gave was so welcoming. Today we went back as a 5 group of friends for afternoon tea and wow the food was delicious every effort was made to make sure we had everything we needed and the service team were so attentive. The produce they use is 10/10 and well the price is so reasonable I would shout about this pub and the lady who is front of house to everyone. We were with a friend of ours who need some extra support and gosh the lady of the pub was so caring thoughtful and nothing was a problem. I’m sorry I don’t know your name but you are one amazing lady and the pub is being run so well by you.

I have been going to the Plough at Shutlanger for five years and every time I go it is the most incredible experience - great food, atmosphere and the tram are incredible. It’s a really magical place. You can feel the passion and love from the team for great food and service. I recently celebrated a birthday with Sunday lunch for 22 people. Everything was fantastic from booking and working out the arrangement, through to the day itself. The food was absolutely incredible and I really appreciate Jess and the teams kindness and they way every person went the extra mile to provide everything to make the day run smoothly and perfectly. The tiramisu dessert was just incredible !! They are such a great team, beautiful food and the restaurant has such a lovely warm 'vibe' and is such a lovely place to be. The whole experience was magical and the day everything I wanted it to be a more.

Excellent service, quality of food, ambience. We had a good selection from the menu , venison haunch, hake with mussels and prawns, and a chicken dish expertly modified to suit my milk allergy. All beautifully presented and prepared. The portions were slightly on the large side but nothing got left! We had an excellent Verdicchio wine that worked well with everything.

Inattentive service for us I afraid after this being a favourite of ours which is disappointing. The Sunday Lunch was the worst ever for the price, awful roast pototates like reheated new potatoes shown some oil, scant vegetable offering with rock hard broccoli,so much could not cut. Have been to the Plough quite a few times and have always been impressed. Not this time. We were seated upstairs which was ok, but I do feel more comfortable downstairs. Being upstairs was clearly an issue for staff. At first, staff did come upstairs to take orders and ask if everything was ok with our meal. But after about 9 pm no staff came upstairs. No one came to clear away the desert plates. No one came to ask if we wanted coffee or any other drinks. No one even came with the bill. Clearly we were out of sight and out of mind. Eventually my husband went downstairs to ask if he could pay. The member of staff said they would come up with the bill. They then came up with a card machine but no bill so had to go away again and get the bill. When we paid they didn't give us a receipt. Don't know why - they just rushed off again quickly. They did apologise and said it was their fault. When we went downstairs to leave, they were busy clearing empty tables. Clearly they had prioritised that over serving customers. Food was ok but portions seemed small and not as good as previous visits. Customer service was good to start with but went downhill as the evening progressed. All in all a disappointing visit for my birthday. As we left someone mumbled 'thanks for coming' but they did not look at us as they spoke and had their back to us. I think staff training is clearly an issue here and if you have an upstairs dining room, make sure you allocate staff to that area and don't leave customers sitting there for ages waiting for service so that they have to go downstairs to find staff.

We have eaten here probably 6 or 7 times over the past few years, and the Plough never fails to deliver quality food with comfortable service. I had mushrooms to start, which were delicious. We both had Haddock and chips, which was innovative in the way in which it was presented, and tasted fabulous. Thankfully they don't go in for triple cooked chips as they always fail to deliver. We had a gluten free guest and aged parents who have morphed into restaurant critics in their dotage. We were greeted with the most beautiful smile and the most friendly welcome. Beautiful surroundings but doesn’t feel at all pretentious. All of our food was wow and no complaints!! This really is a wonderful place to visit. Mid week dinner - starter of asparagus on parmesan toast - asparagus was slightly undercooked and the toast was tough but it was tasty. Sea bass was lovely. Heard that specials menu only changes every 3 months which is a shame as it does not encourage frequent returns - specials are specials and should be that not a 12 week menu! Shame about the music - no need for it or at least have it quieter as their choice isn't every ones.

I loved this place. It has been on my radar for a while and it is the first place we have visited since restrictions lifted... it was a good choice. The serving staff were lovely and chatty. The food was presented absolutely beautifully. I had the stuffed butternut squash with risotto rice and it was soo tasty! My partner had the steak and ale pie.. although he was disappointed that the pastry wasn't a typical pie pastry (it is served wrapped in a crisp thin pastry or wrap), the meat and the sides were equally lovely. My chocolate mousse dessert was to die for! My one suggestion would be outdoor heaters, although I appreciate this situation is hopefully temporary, being cold takes away some enjoyment. Will definitely be returning!

The young waitress who initially seated us was lovely and took our drinks order. But then she must of gone on a break as the service after that wasn’t good and really slow, and I speak as a waitress myself. We felt like we were being purposely ignored, tried to get the attention of another waitress and when we eventually did she was rude. We order 3 mains, the steak pie which was ok, the fillet steak which was lovely, and the vegan burger which to be honest was a quorn burger with cold fries and like a kids meal, it was very poor and one of the worst meals I’ve had. The options for vegetarians and vegans is very limited and I think this needs to be improved, as what you do offer isn’t good quality for a restaurant who seems to have high standards and is expensive.

Their policy is if you cancel within 24 hours, you will not get your deposit back so do not do the right thing and cancel due to suspected COVID symptoms, they will not refund you. If it is left that you can move your deposit to rebook, be aware that they expect you to know they are open during a lockdown when all restaurants are otherwise shut? I explained we are moving out of the area, so to rebook will not be a viable option, but Jessie didn't care, she remained adamant she wasn't making a refund. Clearly, they need the £20 more than us! Cannot rate the food as never been nor will we be going!! In these times, you would think the customer would be considered, clearly not!! Disgusting!!

We visited The Plough for Sunday Lunch just after the second lockdown had ended. The arrangements to keep all safe were good and we had a good lunch. It is difficult to fully judge anywhere during these strange times but we will certainly return once something approaching normality returns. Highlights were the meats and roast potatoes of the Sunday roast and the desserts, both of which were delicious. Less appealing was the small range of starters available and the accompanying vegetables for the roast which while being varied were small in terms of portion size. However overall we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and will return.

First visit to the Plough and we will certainly be returning. Fantastic meal my partner had the trio of fish to start and then medallions of beef and I had the Brixworth pate followed by duck. All cooked to perfection. Very busy which was brilliant for them as the first Saturday after re opening after lock down. We were made to feel very welcome as everyone was very friendly and attentive

Very friendly and attentive. Owner accommodated us in the restaurant with some manipulation unknown to us, a nice surprise. Food delicious, good value and prepared with style. Perfectly cooked battered fish, huge portions of cheeseburger and Caesar salad for our group. Thank you.

I’ll start it off with a five star review and more.. Tonight we visited the plough for a family members birthday. As always we were welcomed with open arms (not literally due to COVID) we were asked to wear our marks, of course! hand sanitizer provided on entry and presented on every table. We were seated and had our drinks order within minutes of arriving. We then were given our menus from Jessie including the specials. We ordered our food and very promtly were then presented with our starters. (I’m sorry we don’t have any photos, it was soo good, it was gone very quickly). We then experienced an unfortunate power cut. Now, after a few minutes we expected to be told that our further dining experience would be unavailable due to the circumstances... but no! The staff came out with candles for every table to ensure everyone was still able to continue their evening. Within 15 minutes and no power, we were served our main courses. I cannot explain how good our meals were, especially with the circumstances given! To be prepared and served in almost darkness and still be the best steak I’ve ever had is pretty impressive to me! As per the recent COVID-19 guidelines, the pub closed its doors at 10pm and we were asked very politely to vacate. I cannot recommend this place enough, from the safety aspect at this unpredictable time, to the service delivered, especially with the pressure of having a full power cut.We really did have a very testing evening for both front of house staff and the kitchen staff, but we couldn’t fault them at all! Just to add on- one more thing that made me fall more in love with this place (if that’s even possible) is the finer details... in the ladies, they have supplied perfume samples to freshen up with! A personal touch that definitely did not go un-noticed.I saw this pub has been awarded in their efforts and I can hand on my heart say that it’s very well deserved. Jessie, Jim & all of the staff- thank you for a lovely evening. We will see you again soon! X

Trying a new restaurant is always an exciting event so, based on reviews the Plough, my expectations were high. Sadly the reality was far from this. Everything started well, the restaurant is a very attractive place with a good atmosphere. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and shown to our table. It is at this point where, in these crazy times, I would have expected to be told about track and trace etc. Sadly it was not even mentioned. Eventually I did spot the QR code across the other side of the room so I scanned it.The menus arrived and yes, menus because there were two menus. I’m not sure why there are two menus because there are dishes that are on both menus and dishes that only appear on one menu, so what is with the multiple menus? I’ve mentioned this many times in reviews but restaurants really MUST supply a drinks menu. If I cannot visit the bar then the only way that I know what drinks are sold is via a drinks menu. From the selection of dishes we chose the camembert starter which was supposed to be garlic and honey flavoured. 45 minutes later it arrived and no honey flavour, no garlic flavour and no real cheese flavour. In fact it had the texture of cottage cheese. We were subsequently told that there was a supply issue and that the camembert was being removed from the menu. Despite this the camembert was still being served. From the mains my wife chose the burger and she specifically asked if it comes with gherkins. Yes it does was the reply. I ordered Jim’s steak and ale pie. 40 minutes after the starter the mains arrived. Yep, no gherkins on the burger and I am not sure whether Jim has ever seen a pie but this was not a pie. It was more of a bland meat wrap. Three dishes, none of which were correct or even tasty. To the restaurants credit, they did remove the dishes from the bill. We did not ask them to, nor did we expect them to. I was just going to put it down to a bad experience and remember not to bother visiting again. So whilst the removal of the dishes from the bill was very grateful, there wasn’t any redeeming points to the meal that would want me to visit again.

Passing through the two of us stopped for lunch on the off chance we could get a table. We were greeted at the door by a lovely lady who took us through the Covid checks before showing us to a table. We were then passed to a male member of staff who took our drinks and food order and looked after us throughout our lunch. We had a bacon and brie ciabatta along with a sausage one with a side of fries which were great and washed down with a lovely glass of house prosecco. We only stayed for an hour but, we will be back, having been so impressed by the whole experience.

Just had a take away from The Plough and it was incredible...!I was sceptical about ordering a take away but managed to persuade the family to given it a try. I ordered the Royal Burger which was the biggest tastiest burger I’ve ever had and the kids had chicken and smaller burgers..Lovely people, awesome food and give it a try....!

My partner and I went here after a track day at Silverstone, on the recommendation of friends and it really didn't disappoint! I had the sea bass as my main, it was cooked perfectly and beautifully presented, although not evident from my poor photography! I had the tirramissu for desert which was insanely decadant. The staff were great, friendly, helpful and attentative but not overly so. Couldn't reccomend this place enough.

We visited here for the first time even though we are so local. This restaurant has been recommended to us and we can see why. The staff were so welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much for them. The food was amazing. The best meal we’ve had in a long long time. We visit lots of local restaurants but this was something else. I had the sea bass and my husband had the pie which were both fantastic. Dessert was a delight. Wish we could have had them all. Beautiful place and we will be back very soon and regularly I’m sure!!

It's been so long since I have written a review on TripAdvisor, I could no longer get into my account so had to create a new one. Absolutely worth it as just wanted to write about the wonderful meal we had today.8Was a halfway point for us to meet up with friends... Group was 5 adults 2 children. Welcome was beyond warm and friendly... It was kind and inviting. Now I hope my Mum doesn't read this as the roast was without a doubt the best roast I have ever had. The meat was cooked to perfection (I had a mixed roast so tried all meats) and the potato's were just spot on crispy. Pudding was of equal amazing quality. The staff were absolutely lovelyThe true verdict was shown by my 4 year old fussy eater lad who was silent for all. Of 10 minutes as he cleared his plate... Blissful time out for us!Thank you for a wonderful time... Looking at the reviews before posthing this, am not surprised by the comments on here. Will now be waiting for Christmas booking so we can meet friends again here.

Despite Covid pressures this is the place to be. Jess and Jim have worked so hard along with their staff to maintain the warmest welcome and the best food ever, We visited last night and despite sitting in the bar for dinner we had a wonderful experience and the food was even better than ever. Butter fried cod cheeks to start and were they tasty and served so beautifully they just asked to be gobbled up. Lamb rack served pink with the most amazing flavours and I strongly recommend the beetroot dust potatoes with torched goats cheese, what a fantastic combination. Thai style mussels, these were the largest mussels ever seen and were delicious which was obvious from the clean plate. Puddings were superb, strawberries - nobody serves strawberries like Jim and the vanilla and raspberry parfait - how do they develop so much flavour into these fruits? What a wonderful evening we had and we are looking forward to seeing you all soon and enjoying the soon to be opened newly refurbished restaurant.

We went into the harvester for some tapas and salad - after visiting a number of different restaurants this branch has the BEST salad bar I have seen. The selection is vast and super tasty and it was all full and very clean. The whole area around the help yourself section was very tidy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Thanks all

Visited on Sunday, unable to order food outside. can't find wifi details required to be able to order food. went to cafe, cannot login onto wifi yet again, 5G Running on phones, slow and still cannot order food. Eventually got seated. 45mins wait for a cheese baguette. 2.95 for a can of Diet Coke. 2.65 for a small bottle of water. Not the experience we hoped for to be honest. Stated to a young lady that we were not made aware of 45 delay for a baguette. young man offered no apology and didn't really seem to care that much. Overall, not impressed.

We went to the old talbot today the waitress could not do enough for us . The food was not very good the chicken parmigiana was so dry and overcooked could not be eaten . The beef cobbler was nothing like the descrption in the menu it was a beef srew with a few bits of fatty chewy beef in a bowl of gravy looked like soup with 2 raw dumplings not a cheese scone in sight and the veg was in the gravy mash came out later after the chef forgot . We paid nearly £30 for a steak that came out cold .We did not enjoy the cheesecake . Tasted vegan .
