Saracen's Head Hotel Restaurant in South Northamptonshire

Went to the Saracens head hotel for a meal it was very nice and the staff were welcoming and friendly.

Great location, ample car park, great customer service from Tracy and Sarah and excellent food and drink at a reasonable price.

Had a brilliant meal here and staff were very friendly.will be going back again soon.

Would highly recommend this venue, we held my husband’s 60th birthday party and from the booking to the night of the party, Dave and his team provided an excellent service. Truly professional and went above and beyond in the service we received. Thank you to Dave and his great team.

Staff are friendly and attentive, food came quickly and was delicious. The yorkshires are fab! Portion sizes are good but there are also sides to add additionally. Great spot for a Sunday roast!

Lunch for 30 to celebrate a 95th Birthday The staff, particularly Jo, were amazing; so accommodating of our every need, kind and efficient. The food was great with generous portions. A really excellent, friendly and professional venue. We will be back.

Called to book a family party for my aunts 95th birthday. As there was 30+ in the group we were given the Pickwick suite. As we were a large group we were asked to pre order and of course there were mistakes made by us which the staff picked up on and helped me get the order right. All communications with the staff before the party were efficient, professional & exceptionally helpful. - nothing was too much. This made it very easy for when we arrived on the day as we were given a single point of contact Jo - she was absolutely amazing. - even so there were a few things that we needed - an extra table for flowers, a knife for cutting the cake nothing was too much. Jo dealt with it all, always calm and unflustered They also allowed us to decorate the room - using blu-tac. Everyone commented on how good the service and food was. We’d like to thank the whole team. We had a very enjoyable day. We’re hoping to go back next year.

Would like to thank all of your staff for making my Son and his Wifes Wedding such a wonderful occasion yesterday September 30th 2024. A fantastic venue for a small and intimate wedding. The ambiance was welcoming cosy and inviting. The service and the food excellent. A great choice of menu but happy to adapt to individual dietary requests too. There was a young baby in the party and they went out of their way to cater for his needs too. Would highly recommend The Saracens Head and look forward to visiting them again in the future.

Definately worth visiting, also have beautiful hotel attached. Unfortunately didnt realiase it was also a hotel. 19th century used to be known as Pomfret Arms grafically describel in Picwick Papers. Very friendle staff. Excelent food very reasinable prices. Would definately recomend. Had Tilapa fish, absolutly beautuful. Excelent flavour. Excelent cheff.

Just had a great stay here for one night. I was greeted by a very friendly and helpful lady called Lucy. I was very early for my check in but Lucy kindly allowed me in to my room where I could continue working. She also gave me 2 vouchers for use at Greene King, one I gained 20% off my dinner in the pub. Food was great as well. I would definitely stay here again, thanks Lucy for your help.

Held my wedding here last weekend. Absolutely faultless from start to finish. Attentive, exceptional service from Michelle, Dave and the team. Rooms were stunning, food was amazing and the venue was beautiful. Thank you so much for making our day so special.

My friends wedding was held here this weekend just gone and it was such an amazing day. I stayed here for 3 nights and you just couldn't fault anything, the staff were so friendly, the rooms were amazing, the beds were comfy, the food was gorgeous. And Michelle & David went above and beyond. Highly recommend this beautiful place to anyone wanting a wedding here.

We booked this pub restaurant for a family evening meal, as my husband was having a driving experience at Silverstone. I made a booking in advance & was called by the pub a few days before to ask if we could bring the time forward to 6.15, which we were happy to do. We arrived a few minutes early & the restaurant area was relatively quiet. We were seated at the table by the waiter & our drinks order was taken & duly arrived. We ordered starters & main course. We waited until 7pm, no food, no explanation, so my husband asked the waiter where the food was, he replied he had no idea, there was a function going on! More people came into the restaurant & were sat at tables. We waited another 15minutes & the waiter came over saying the party were only just onto their 2nd course & he couldn’t say when we would get our food, but we could have a free round of drinks! We left after over an hour, seeking food elsewhere, as did everyone else around us.

Tiny portions and a steak full of fat . Save your self a fortune and go somewhere else . £15:50 steak meal, a few chips and a basketball for steak

Came here for a quick lunch on a weekday afternoon. Service super friendly and helpful. Food choices great, and our order came out really promptly. Delicious fresh cooked food. A proper pub with clean spacious eating and drinking areas. Could not recommend highly enough.

I enjoyed my Saturday night dinner so much that I brought my wife for Sunday. We were in town from Wisconsin to treat my daughter to the F1 race. Both nights I thoroughly enjoyed both meals, beef pie and fish and chips. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was inviting. I would highly recommend to everyone.

Had a family party here at the weekend and the food was fantastic (buffet was organised) - we certainly didn't go short! The staff (Michelle in organising) and Matt/Rob on the night were excellent along with all the others who were super helpful. Did exactly what we had agreed before hand and couldnt have been more helpful.

Today 6th July celebrated our 50th Anniversary with a celebration meal at the Saracens with our family . From booking our table to choosing the meal super efficient. Good and friendly service and nice interior but beer tasted like it had been in the barrel for a year or more and the food was very lacklustre for £20 each, side salad clearly came straight out of the fridge, didn’t have any steak, chips were decent but that was about it.

Just visiting Towcester for the Greyhound Derby & decided to eat before hand. Popped in to The Saracens Head & the food & service provided was fantastic. A very welcoming place to eat & drink. If you stop by you must try the hunters chicken it’s delicious. Thanks to the staff who were amazing 🌟 🌟 🌟🌟🌟

Second time staying here and cannot fault. Stayed Saturday 22 June during Towcester’s Midsummer Festival. The setup in the car park of the hotel was great and we really enjoyed the entertainment, we saw the Beatles tribute act and he was excellent. The bbq was outstanding, highly recommend!

This is a great place to stay. The staff is very kind. They keep this place very up to date and clean. You can walk to grocery stores easily and any pub in town.

I don't usually go into the Saracen's Head, but today's trip was great. The food was really top notch. I had a chicken in a basket and it was moist chicken with crispy batter and a lovely presented side salad. My wife had the steak and cheese baguette. The prices were great value for money. I see another trip in the future.

Welcoming staff and a lovely room Didn’t want a heavy meal so opted for a pate This was presented partly frozen When I returned it the rather large orangutang that was perched on a stool in the corner kicked off and started to square up to me, what business he had in this I do not know, Thank goodness the bar manager told him to sit down A lovely pub but watch out for the monkey !!!!

We went to the Saracens Head on a off chance, and we were highly delighted. Great food and great service. This prompted us to return on Sunday, where we had Sunday lunch and was not disappointed. All the staff , very friendly and very pleasant to chat too. Hopefully, we will return in the near future.

Just came back from a long weekend at the Saracens Head where we celebrated my son's wedding.The venue, rooms and facilities were excellent and all the staff without exception, were so welcoming, friendly and very efficient.I had some worries about the wedding meal having choices for all 3 courses but there was no need to worry -the kitchen and waiting staff handled this with ease and panache.This is an excellent hotel that I would recommend without hesitation.

Great for food, even better than our local greene king. Food was presented great and drinks were perfect (perfect amount of ice and lemon). Slightly more pricey than our local but more than worth it.

We went to Towcester for a funeral. It was an early start but Lucy on Reception made sure at least one of the rooms was available for us to use. Her and housekeeping were amazing. We returned to the hotel later that evening after the wake. We had not booked a tabkle and the restaurant and bar area was incredibly busy. Jo asked us to wait 10 minutes and managed to book us a tables, again amazing. Customer service second to none abd what a beautiful building.

I was on the way to the work meeting. But as of school holidays had to have my children with me. We decided to stop for a quick breakfast. Breakfast was delicious however my children did not eat because of being fussy. Member of staff noticed that I keep on nagging them to eat and approached our table and did magic, she promised if they finish their plates they will have a nice surprise. Plates were empty in no time!! I thought they will get a biscuit each, but I was pleasantly surprised when they got Easter presents! We will definitely come back again! We felt very welcomed and all our questions about food were answered, and food was very delicious! Thank you Tracey and Sarah for getting my children to finish their breakfast and being so friendly to us!

Had a two night vacation fantastic hospitality met with a warm welcome and splendid room absolutely faultless. The evening meal was lovely and presentation was fabulous had a great night sleep but the best by far was the breakfast. Came down to a lovely warm greeting in the morning from staff and a fantastic fresh cooked breakfast. Thank you for such a a lovely stay your staff were superb.

Tracey and the team smashed it today, I love that when you walk in you just feel super welcome and important to them I'm a veggie and the menu is brilliant, often I am left with beans on toast! Great quality food, great price and fast becoming my go to in Towcester

Mother’s Day meal and the food and staff were fantastic. We had a table for 12 and we were well looked after. The team did an amazing job.

Booked room for night as meeting up with family from area and we travelled in. Room was absolutely lovely. Really well decorated and bed so comfortable. For such an old historic building it has been refurbished sympathetically and retained its character.Had a fab nights sleep. We all had a meal in restaurant Saturday night. Was very busy throughout pub but didn't faze staff ! We all enjoyed our meals, huge portions too. Got 20% off of food bill too as was staying there so that was a bonus. Had breakfast Sunday morning. Good choice on menu. Full English was plentiful and delicious. Young waiter on duty morning of 25th February was so nice. Really smiley and nothing too much trouble. Didn't catch his name!! Absolute credit to business. Looking forward to another family reunion soon so can stay again. Thanks all team.

Stayed a week for work. Staff were great and we both loved the food.

I was meeting up with a friend after many years. He had visited this restaurant in past years and we arrived for lunch. We were given a choice of tables. Menus were available on the table and we were quickly served with drinks. Time was given for us to study the food choices. There was a good range and my companion chose the steak pie and I had the Macaroni cheese. Friendly service and pleasant surroundings and good food helped to make our reunion very enjoyable. I was particularly delighted to see that the tables were sufficiently placed so that conversations could be held without feeling other diners were able to eavesdrop. We had some room. Lovely Highly recommended

Staff very friendly and polite with some good recommendations on what to have. Had the crispy chicken with kiev sauce and it was delicious! Cosy and pleasant atmosphere my only issue was the steep stairs to the toilets. Couldn't fault the staff or food it was really nice.

Met some friends here for Sunday lunch, we hadn't been to Towcester before so were just looking for a pub in the town centre which had reasonable reviews and this seemed the best choice. The staff were absolutely lovely, couldn't have been more friendly or accommodating, however the Sunday lunch was really quite bad. I'm sure the broccoli was straight from the freezer into the microwave, the 'crackling' with the pork was one of those thin straws of crackling which you get in a packet in the supermarket. The Yorkshire pudding was so nuked that it was like a crisp, and to top it all the roast beef was just a chewy fatty mess, it was so gristly and fatty that you couldn't even cut it. The staff were very apologetic and offered a replacement for the beef, they couldn't do enough for us, so no complaints on the service or the general atmosphere, but come on Greene King, is this the best you can do for a Sunday dinner at £15/16 a head? It must be the easiest of all meals to cook, our meal was pretty much inedible. Won't be returning :(

Fantastic Sunday roast, the food and service was so good we went on 2 consecutive Sundays. We had made bookings for the roast and the serving sizes were generous. We enjoyed our family time at this pub and would highly recommend it to anyone in the area.

We just had a lunch for 16 that the team at Saracens managed perfectly. We were visiting from the US (we used to live in Towcester) and they worked with me from the US to organize everything. They knew exactly what we needed when arrived...

Absolutely fantastic as always, lovely service cracking food. Loving the change is fish, it was a lot tastier and the slightly smaller portion was much more manageable. Amazing service from the exceptionally polite young ladies, Eve and Joanna.

Very nice food, well presented, fresh and delicious. Shame the roast wasn’t available would have loved to have given that a try. Service was ok, simple. Could have been a little friendlier.

Spent the night here with friends celebrating their 70th birthdays. First impressions are very good, lovely building and great rooms, overall we enjoyed the venue. Dinner however, left a lot to be desired. One of our friends had the pie and mash she told us the pie was lovely but the mash was cold in the middle (micro waved we suspect) But she didn't want to cause a fuss so put up with it. Another had the lasangne and it was rock hard and awful (microwaved?) , she did complain and changed it for pie and mash and was happy. My wife and myself went for fish and chips offering and they were disappointing in quality and volume, nothing to look look forward too or remember. I live 5 miles away, Towcester is my local towm and wont bother with the food offering served here again. Later that evening a male member of the bar staff appeared at 11:05 approx, wearing his coat and told us we had to leave as they were closing, we pointed out that we were hotel guests. His reply was, "well we will turn the lights off". That was it. On a Saturday night in a Hotel in a busy country town, they were closing down at 11pm ish Breakfast the following morning was a long time coming. My wife ordered the Avocado with roast pepper and a sauce. what she got was Advocado with rocket lettuce, thats it. She was too fed up with the place to make a fuss. I ordered a full English and it was nice. However it took forever to arrive. Table clearing service was very, very slow, there was also an unusual amount of noise with crashing furniture, cutlery and stuff, We noticed that one of the waitresses was the cause (the other staff were polite and quiet) She was obviously unhappy. She came up to us and rudely told us to leave (this was 11:00am) whilst picking up our dishes very noisily saying she had to get lunch service ready. There were still plenty of other people enjoying breakfast. One of our birthday hosts did write to the hotel with the purpose of informing management but frankly was palmed off with pathetic excuses which included addressing the volume of potato chips at dinner saying that we were served (as best I can recall) an industry standard 22grams. and that closing at 11pm was an industry standard and night service (which they failed to mention we registered or when we said we were guests to the staff) was available. We didn't allow any of this to spoil our gathering but all ten of us have unanimously decided that next year we wont be returning to this venue. As a local I definitely wont be coming back as Towcester has many better venues to offer. Jim

We were a large family party with three babies, driving from many points of the country - Towcester happened to be at a mid point between Kent, Rutland, Gloucester, Birmingham and Cheshire! My daughter booked us for Sunday lunch for a large get together on the one year anniversary of the passing of a loved one. The pre-arrangements and communications before we arrived were first class, including pre-ordering of starters and desserts. We were also offered "The Snug", allowing some privacy for our party. The service on the day was excellent - so friendly and accommodating. We had coffees and drinks beforehand, the food arrived all together and, most importantly, was of a high standard - personally my sirloin Sunday roast was really very good and better than I had expected (quality and volume!) We would like to thank all staff who looked after us on the day. We cannot praise them too highly and we hope their managers take note of their efforts on the day (Sunday 5 November) and the quality of service they provided.

The roast dinner was delicious, food was roast turkey and beef and was lovely and hot. The drinks were lovely as well.Give my compliments to the Chef a lovely meal, well done to all the kitchen staff as well as the staff serving the food. Had a lovely breakfast here. Runny poached eggs, tasty, salty rashers, 2 Cumberland sausages, hash brown, and a pot of baked beans to pour on sourdough toast. Plus a pot of good tea. It's difficult to get every part of an English Breakfast spot on, but they did it here--with good produce cooked and served immaculately. You don't have to stay at the hotel to have breakfast here, and I recommend it.

I chose this restaurant as we were visiting Silverstone Circuit for the weekend, it had good food reviews and car parking. When we arrived at the restaurant it was quite a small car park and totally full, as there was a private function on Saturday...

Connor did a very good job in difficult circumstances as there was a function on. He was polite and checked that out food was okay. Drinks service was slow. Food was really nice. Camembert platter was great
