The plough has the best carvery in north wales! The staff are so friendly and accommodating. Lovely outdoor space and a lovely main menu in the week!

Came on a Sunday, had a lovely carvery. Manager was really friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Highly recommend

Top class food, huge portions. Staff are wonderful, didn't get asked after a few minutes to check all is OK with the meal but not an issue. Totally well recommend, will definitely come back again. We'll done The Plough.

Three of us visited for lunch today (Wednesday). It was quiet, but that’s the only reason for only 4/5 stars there. Two of us ordered the salt and pepper chicken wrap. This was delicious and fantastic value for money. My husband had the chicken burger which was also excellent. The landlord (I think!) was really nice and had a good bit of banter with him. Highly recommend 👌🏻

We visited on Saturday the 22nd. My wife and I had been to visit the Welsh Mountain Zoo and stopped in on our way home. The staff were friendly and welcoming upon arrival. We had two drinks and ordered four food items. All of the food was cooked perfectly and the portion sizes were very generous. I had the black pudding has starter. And I can honestly say that it was the best thing I have eaten in a pub or restaurant in a long time. Would recommend this wonderful place to anyone.

Took my Aunty for lunch on Saturday as it was her birthday. It was very quiet upon arrival allowing us to sit anywhere. I ordered her the steak asking for medium. I ordered the ham and chips with two eggs. Mine arrived with the eggs hard and chips cold. My Aunties steak was cremated on outside and raw inside. She didn’t want me to make a fuss but could not eat. I did complain having the meal removed and brought back after 10mins. To my surprise no change. She could not eat. She begged me not to make a fuss. No one came and asked us if everything was ok. Even taking our plates away which were still very full no questions asked. Very disappointed

Average Carvery options cooked ok but nothing special. Very reasonable price, but needs a little more finesse in my opinion. Some cramped seating areas so larger party's of 6 or more may struggle, may be worth booking in advance.

Great food, great quiz nights on Thursdays

Food is always lovely, the owner is also a really nice man. Cheaper than everywhere else as well which makes no sense as honestly, the food is better than everywhere else locally. I go there often with my Nan and toddler and only today he gave my fussy child some free food to just see if he'd eat it.

Visited here in the 19th of January for the Sunday carvery everything was absolutely amazing as usual beautifully cooked food, kind and friendly staff, very clean place would highly recommend as we have been numerous times for meals both through the week and weekends and every time it's been brilliant.

We had the pleasure of enjoying the most amazing carvery here – hands down the best in Wales! The food was absolutely delicious, with a fantastic selection of perfectly cooked meats, crispy roast potatoes, and a variety of fresh, tasty vegetables. The gravy was spot on, and the Yorkshire puddings were a dream! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. Their attention to detail and warm service really stood out. If you’re looking for a carvery that ticks all the boxes, this is the place to be. Highly recommended, and we can’t wait to return!

While the staff were friendly enough, the food was terrible. We had 3 carveries….veg tasted like frozen veg , gravy was awful and the meat was very fatty. Fish and chips was soggy battered fish with undercooked hard chips. Local to area so thought we’d give it a go but unfortunately won’t be returning any time soon

Such a lovely place to eat. Had a carvery, lots of fresh vegetables. Plenty of choice. Friendly atmosphere, the landlord went round talking to everyone. Would definitely recommend.

We had a party of 12 for food yday and it was totally shocking 2 main meals were not even eaten and sent back every single meal was poor the kids food was cold there was not one meal that wasn't left and when we told the server she did apologise in which ile give her that the service was fine by the lady serving but that was it,we then spoke to the owner about it in which he replied no one else has sent food back today ile going find out what's going on he never returned, there was no refund offered not that we wanted a refund but just to let them no that something should of bin done cause of the standard of food it was a birthday meal so we are all disappointed and will never return

Attended as a large group. Meal was cold. Chips were dark brown and soggy. Everyone one of our group didn’t finish their meal. Not enough staff. We ordered steak, we wasn’t asked how we would like it cooked. It came well done or too bloody. Spicy pasta dish supposed to be made with tomato’s and chilli was in a Chinese curry sauce. Absolutely a waste of money. I never write reviews but felt this was a must.

Had a couple of lovely breakfasts at the plough and some lovely lunches food is always lovely, nice and fresh and good choice of meals something a little different from usual places. Service always with a smile, friendly and happy to help make sure you have everything you need. Would highly recommend!

Nice friendly staff Note took photo after I started eating Had fish and chips was lovely homemade. There was a crunch to the batter. Lovely fluffy inside crisp on yhe outside chips. Mushy peas and tartar sauce homemade too I think. Really enjoyed. Dog was with me and although they do sausage and mash on kids menu they wouldn't do me a couple of sausages. Never understand this I'm willing to pay for them.Think if dog friendly you should do something for them. I walked here whilst my car was being serviced perfect length walk from Toyota Garage

Under new ownership Half price on Wednesdays thought we would give it a go despite bad reports from locals Should have listened! The wife’s pitta bread was rock hard My fish and chips tasted like it was cooked the previous day and warmed up The service was shocking - they didn’t bring the cutlery and condiments until 5 minutes after receiving the food! Clearly untrained young staff. Will definitely not be returning!

Very friendly atmosphere and great customer service. Today I had Fish & Chips with mushy peas and I have to say this the nicest plate of food I’ve had in any pub. Fresh, hot and delicious. Would highly recommend and can’t wait try more food. Well do to all the staff for a great visit

Met up with an old friend in The Plough yesterday eve! Was a bit nervous as I’d never been before. Food was excellent, waiters and bar staff were friendly. Toilets were lovely and clean! Will be calling again 😁👍🏼

I had passed the Plough so many times and never popped in. On this particular Sunday I did and the food was excellent I went for the large Sunday roast and went for a bit of everything. I was stuffed and very satisfied. Definitely recommend having the carvery. Definitely coming back. Service was welcoming and friendly.

Have eaten here a few times and the food is just not consistent. One week very tasty, same meal another week and it’s revolting. Especially the gravy! thinner than water with an oily weird taste. portion sizes vary too . Tried the chocolate fudge cake which was stone cold! Overpriced food, overpriced drinks. Staff very polite though.

We went to the Plough, Shotton for a meal for the first time this evening. What a gem of a place we’ve found. The food was excellent and the service was first class. Kev and his team are absolutely fantastic. The young lady who looked after us (Brittany) was just brilliant. Very friendly, polite and very attentive. Nothing was too much trouble for her. We were all very full after our meals. We would highly recommend this pub and we are looking forward to our next visit. Thanks guys for your 5 ⭐️food and service. 😀😀

Carvery was so nice! Better than toby carvery! 10/10 only thing I was gutted about was there were no spouts and Yorkshire pudding filled more than half the plate…other than that everything was lovely

Ordered a carvery and a beef lasagne... Carvery was nice,couldnt go back for veg which was a first! Never come across a carvery where you couldnt get more veg? So,onto the lasagne.....awful to say the least! Tasteless and half raw! Just a slodge of raw soggy pasta in the middle! Also,who on earth puts chicken in a beef lasagne and not state it on the menu??? Told waitress who was really nice and came back saying manager wont do anything about it...so, heres my honest 100% revue as poor!! As nothing was done!!! Wont call again.

What a lovely pub,and great atmosphere, we called for tea and the food was amazing, all home made our waiter Matt was polite and helpful from the minute we arrived, would defo go back again and highly recomend, 5 star from us, keep up the good work 😊

Had a wonderful meal with the family for my birthday on April 25th, highly recommended, staff wonderful!

Quiz is good, the people serving are nice, but the menu and food is very disappointing, the most recent one, there a very little options, half of it is literally burger type, so if you don't want one oh well, there goes half the options, now the rest, it's mostly just pie, steak, curry stuff, and spicy stuff, and do not like these, so I'm left with gammon, fish and chick, the gammon is just with veg and chips, and I know their chip portions are small, so I didn't want that, fish and chips I never like in pubs, so I'm left with chicken strips, which is what I got, and it was literally just like cardboard, so dry, not flavour and burnt in places, I did not enjoy my meal at all.

Had a lovely meal at plough this evening. Best pub meal we have had in a long while. We ate hunter chicken, salt & pepper burger and chicken kiev. We will be back sooner rather than later.

Only popped in for a pint after work. I was met with a warm welcome, and was served quickly. Very clean and tidy place. The place is having work done to the beer garden, it looks as though it'll be a great place to spend a sunny day. Definitely worth paying a visit. Also has many weekend events that would interest a wide audience.

We went for a birthday meal here today and it was brilliant... Good atmosphere and homely decor, Kev was very friendly and welcoming, interacted with the kids and offered me a birthday shot game... he was a fabulous host. The rest of the staff were lovely too, the food was beautiful, lots of selection and all home cooked. Fantastic lunch out and definitely look forward to coming again. Would recommend this place 100% big thanks again to Kev and the team

Brilliant Sunday Carvery. Unfortunately we sat by a couple where the man had sat for ages with his knife and fork apart on an almost empty plate. The staff went to clear and he decided he was going to eat his partners remaining food so told the lad he hadn't finished. We had to put up with the man moaning loudly about table etiquette for over 20 minutes. " my knife and fork weren't laid together vertically so it's obvious I'm not finished"....blah de blah etc etc. Yes that used to be but these days it doesn't always happen.

Went in after many years after Paul & Julie left, as it seemed to go downhill in the period following. New management making all welcome, and first class service by staff. Didn't eat, but neighbouring table of 4 ladies did, and the food served up was of a very good standard, and plentiful. (They confirmed this!) Definitely going back, as was one of our favourite watering holes, and is now one of the few remaining. Recommended!!!

Burns night menu. Food was nice and well presented. However, a lack of whiskey in the sauce and in the "whiskey soaked sponge", in fact no hint of it. Service a bit on the slow side but otherwise OK.

Went to The Plough last night with friends. We had booked the Christmas Dinner to eat before we took part in Kev and Dean’s Christmas Quiz. We do eat here regularly so I knew the food would be good, but, what can I say? The meal was superb. Excellent quality, and all served piping hot to our reserved and decorated table by none other than the landlord himself. Many thanks Kev and all your team for the whole experience. Even though he has only been at The Plough for a few months he is definitely making his mark. Can’t recommend it highly enough. As an added highlight of the evening, we even won the quiz. First time ever. Still can’t quite believe it. Thanks to Kev and Dean for all their hard work and charity fundraising. Will see you all there again next Thursday.

Carvery was "ok". However, took a very long time for the worker to carve the meat. Lasagna was dreadful.

Family party of 25 people, all seated close together, great atmosphere, food was all served hot and fresh together, couldn't fault, great food and bar service will definitely be returning..

i have been having lunch/breakfast regularly mostly on thursdays because a lovely older blond lady gives excellent service with a smile but when we went on 9/11 she was rushed off her feet serving food

Massively gone downhill, I went yesterday and always had a great carvery but today wow! The taste was 0 and the gravy was just like water. Even the sausage in gravy had no taste at all. They don't do the mint gravy anymore too, I know it's been taken over recently but they need to sort the food out massively as numbers will twindle. Like I mentioned always used to be my go to place for a carvery...not any more I am afraid.

Very average carvery at best! No Yorkshire pudding or stuffing and then sausages are so weird as well boiled in gravy or something

We haven’t been here for a few months and decided to visit for a carvery after a nice walk. I’m not sure what the heck has happened, but the food has changed significantly. Everything was bland, tasteless and the meat was so dry, fatty and tasted cheap. The heavy was like water too. The cost for this 1/10 meal was also outrageous. This is really sad, as we used to rate this as one of the best places in the area for a roast. Won’t be visiting anytime soon.

We like a carvery - pointless cooking at home on a Sunday when there are so many on offer in the area . We had heard good reviews regarding The Plough and thought we would give it a go . We didn’t book a table and found early afternoon a few tables were available . A really good choice of the usual meats and an excellent selection of vegetables. All well cooked and tasty.

we called in yesterday lunch with friends very quite I had steak ale pie chunks of tender meat in it pie looked very good but gravy looked like bistro very watery little flavour the wife had chicken which she was very happy with a few beers missing from selection awaiting for delivery the bar staff were very helpful very good service I believe it is under new management so may be things will improve will try again in a few weeks

Called in on our way home from our holiday. Really busy but the staff were polite and efficient. Our meal came and wow looked amazing and tasted even nicer piping hot, beautifully presented. Hats off to the chief.

Absolutely disgusting, people taken drugs in the toilet , drinks all over the floor, open drug dealing . Toilets outside, been there so often, this time it was a disgrace

Just had carvery very disappointed they need to concentrate on quality not quantity purely warm and could not cut beef knives need sharpening big fatty lump of beef had to leave it left most of the meal
