i visted with partner and daughter tonight, the service was okay, the food was mediocre, i asked for vinillia ice cream with chocolate sauce and recived chocolate ice cream with sauce. no money off the bill. sorry but will not be returning.

I can honestly say and I don't want to but the food was abysmal and this also includes the soggy pudding.

The attitude of a member of staff was appallingly rude & the amount of time to wait for food is ridiculous. I've had a bad experience here before & gave it the benefit of the doubt. But never again...

Lovely country pub. Superb food, served nice & hot. There was a bit of a wait in-between courses which would be my only gripe as there were small children in our group.

This pub is in a beautiful setting, food , staff and everything about it was brilliant , there were seven of us for brunch everyone had something different but it all came out hot , fresh and delicious, thanks sue .

Service was slow ,could of done with more staff on.i had pie and mash ,the meat was fatty and grizzly and not much of it but the rest of meal was gorgeous ,husband had gammon ,plenty of it and lovely

the horsie in the image was not there when we visited. so utterly disappointed. i didn't bring luigi today because he is terrified of horsies and similar equine creatures. but on reflection i should have just sent an email asking for them to remove the horse for the day, not that it would have been needed >:( i really wanted a ride. the food and service was impeccable and the toilets, oh the toilets where gorgeous. nothing will ever compare to the toilets. of course i had to check out the ladies room too and they where similarly decorated, although they had a different flavour of hand soap.

Been before always been impressed with food this time I was disappointed had chicken dinner no taste and Irish coffee which was done with whipped cream best part of meal was the sweet

We drove around the North Wales coastline trying to find a decent pub for lunch - so many have closed - and stumbled across the Eagle and Child after almost giving up ! It’s a lovely welcoming pub - and clearly popular on Saturday lunchtime. We were lucky that we had a few minutes to order before the kitchen closed at 2.30pm - and our food was served pretty quickly. The fish and chips was certainly tasty with a lovely crisp batter on the fish - if only our chip shop at home could master this ! Overall a very pleasant experience - and no reason why we wouldn’t visit again if we were passing and hungry in the future. Thank you !

Nice atmosphere inside, and outside garden.

Went today for Sunday lunch. Bit of a journey to get there by following Sat nav but we’ll worth it! The staff were very helpful and efficient, the food was amazing home made and delicious. Portions are enormous with so much meat we took lots home! We will definitely return thank you

We reserved a table for Sunday lunch and all 4 of us opted for the chicken dinner. The portion size was great and the sliced chicken was soft and juicy. There was mash, roast potatoes and new potatoes, homemade Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and cranberry, carrots, cabbage and green beans. My only criticism would be that there wasn’t enough gravy for my liking and it could have been a tad thicker. I do like my roasts swimming in gravy though!! It’s a lovely place however, the staff are friendly, the views are amazing and we will definitely return to try the other menu.

Very warm, friendly, homely pub! Tasty homely cooked food.

First of all we went due to the amount of people we know saying it was wonderful food and atmosphere, re the whole of the area, absolutely beautiful, relaxing and really quaint. However the food didn't taste as my wife expected it to, based on the hype, my wife had the beef and it was a bit bland, the veg and everything else spot on, she has had better at other places, I had the scampi, but in all honesty scampi is scampi and I did enjoy it so can't say it wasn't right, it was. Maybe it was a dodgy day for the chef, and truthfully, we will go back but more for the ambience and atmosphere. Try it by all means. I'm not asking for people not to go, after all 90% of the tables are reserved so maybe my wife and I have lost a bit of our tastebuds. Go and enjoy, I'd still recommend it.

Lovely meal. Lamb shank was beautiful and staff very helpful. Price was really value for money for the portion sizes and the quality of food.

Land of my father's is a grand Welsh saying. Unfortunately the land of my wife's father Gweansgor above Prestatyn is far from welcoming, or at least the local village pub is not the most welcoming place. Called in today having been to the churchyard to pay our respect to my wife's family who rest there The service and welcome were poor and the food average. Why can you not sit on a worn leather sofa to eat a sandwich, why is every table marked has reserved. Why when the pub has 60 covers and there are 10 people in do you have to move 3 times to eat your sandwich. Why do you allow vaping in eating areas. Sorry poor food, poor service, how I wish the saracens head was still open

We love this place and it's local for us

I love this pub. Set in the middle of nowhere and a proper good old local pub. Me and my family have been going to the Eagle and Child for years and have never had a bad meal. Prices are very reasonable, quality is absolutely spot on and I highly recommend the Mega Eagle burger

Walked in and walked out. Weird atmosphere and NO dogs allowed.

This was the second time we stayed in the village, just a few yards from the pub. Really friendly place, great service and delicious food. Can get a bit busy on weekends so best to book ahead. Over a few days we had lunch, evening meals and a couple of cheeky pints. Recommended and will visit again.

Bar staff very rude, might have just been having a long day but still there are standards to how you should address customers. Has put me off from coming here again.

Walked from our local village for afternoon drinks and lunch. We had our dog and knew the place isn’t dog friendly inside so was planning to be outside anyway. Walked inside to order drinks and pick-up a menu but was greeted with the most un-inviting welcome from lady behind the bar. I thought she may have said something and I missed it so I said is everything ok, I had some sort of acknowledgment but I didn’t feel welcomed at all. I ordered two drinks and didn’t bother with the food menus. As we had a dog with us, I searched for a dog bowl and eventually found one but it was really dirty with no water and no outside tap. I went back inside to the bar where the same lady didn’t engage with me at all. Another young lady behind the bar did serve me and provided me with a tub of water. I’d say it’s the worst welcome I’ve had in any pub or restaurant for some time. Im sure the food would have been nice but we didn’t even give it a try. Very disappointing from one of our local restaurants.

Visited here recently and it's a lovely pub. The gardens are very well kept and the food is really nice if not a bit expensive. It is nice though. You get loads of beef/chicken on the Sunday dinner.

Lovely welcome, beautifully inside and out. Great place well worth a visit. Reson 4 stars for food. I am a fussy eater, no problem for my other half.

Just had the mixed grill and my wife had the hunter chicken also had the sticky toffee pudding and my wife the Jaffa mountain cake,excellent food and very well priced for the food and drinks,also would like to mention the gentleman behind the bar he was very professional

Very welcoming, and lovely food.

Traditional welsh pub food, hearty, large portions and plenty of options, including a specials menu. Very impressive! Price point was great, our teenagers eat off the main menu but the kids menu looked fab! Plenty of tables- we had booked and I would advise to call ahead and book as they had a lot of reserved tables. Garden is lovely and separate pub area at the front. You can wear walking boots, or heels so that keeps everyone happy! Will be retuning. My steak was very tasty, I couldn’t finish, it was so big which was lovely to see! I often find portions getting smaller these days. Steak and Guineas pie was also lovely and the burgers! Too full for pudding but we will save space next time.

A lovely pub this. We had a great lunch; tasty food and plenty of it too. Sue the Host and her staff were kind, efficient and pleasant. They also have a beautiful garden where you can sit and eat. Very happy with our experience. Well done Eagle and Child!

We both had a roast beef dinner which was delicious ,we had a large Yorkshire pudding with plenty of roast beef, new , roast and mash potatoes . Carrots green beans and cabbage.a good helping of gravy and a separate portion of horseradish sauce. We gave ourselves a breathing space and followed up with Apple pie with ice cream a wafer chocolate mint crisp with a strawberry and sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. The whole meal was amazing I would highly recommend the Eagle and Child.

Had a fab lunch on the way home from a lovely stay in North Wales. We chose the hot beef, mushrooms & onion baguette & salad with a side of chunky skin on fries, was delish 😋 Staff were very good & gave great service. Highly recommend calling in for food & a good choice of drinks. Only negative was the only no alcohol beverage beside soft drinks was one bottled beet, maybe not a big seller so limited stock but wouldn't put me off visiting in future 🤞

A great place to have dinner, the food prices are reasonable, where the food is home cooked and served hot. My partner really enjoyed the vegetarian lasagne. The pub is set in a nice location although getting to it by car is not for the faint hearted if you are not used to Welsh roads. It is quite steep in places. The staff are friendly and pleasant. We would definitely return if we were in the area. At the weekend I would strongly urge you to book, but on our visit they did squeeze us in.

Popped in here after a day out on the beach in Prestatyn for a lunch. The freshly battered cod and chips was amazing. The staff were friendly and attentive. Absolutely gorgeous gardens maintained to a very very high standard. Would definitely recommend this pub for top class meal. 5 stars.

Friends stopped for lunch with me whilst on their journey to the West Wales coast. We all had a lovely hot sandwich for lunch and a drink which is all very good value service with a smile and a lovely place. Garden looking particularly good at the moment.

Lovely little pub. Only called in for a drink after walking with dog. The food looks amazing and will definitely try next time we are in the area.

Food was good. Service great - hence a star for each...but (deliberately?) overcharged. £1.60 for a "splash" of lemonade in my wine is NOT ok! And it was a "splash" too. Literally a shot. So you got your £4.80 out of me but you lost a customer.

Found this gorgeous, friendly, traditional pub whilst visiting friends. Thanks to the lovely Sue for being so welcoming and accommodating after we got lost our phones died and we still found you. Sue charged our phones up for us and we sat down to a beautiful meal. It’s such a lovely, friendly place with friendly bar staff too. We got chatting to a lovely local couple, Ray and Babs ~it’s always nice meeting nice people. Michael and I really enjoyed our time there and will visit again. Can’t recommend this place enough. Noisy, food adequate. Would have ordered a sweet but after 15 minutes of being unable to attract waiting staff I went to the bar to pay the bill.
