We provided styling for a wedding reception at The Celtic Arms recently. We would just like to thank Jane and team for making us feel so welcome. Beautiful venue to work at with a fantastic space for weddings and events.

Booked for Sunday lunch today. Absolutely amazing. We had the set Sunday lunch menu. The food was delicious. The service we recieved from a young lady who I believe has only been there 2 weeks.( can't remember her lovely Welsh name. Blonde long hair) was outstanding. Would highly recommend based on food, menu, ambiance and inparticular service. Thankyou for a great afternoon.

We had taken elderly parents for a meal,unfortunately on the table near us was a party for a 21st and 60th, they were having a great time, but we couldn't hear each other and found our conversations were drowned out

A great restaurant with excellent food and service. Staff (Hannah and Phoebe) were very friendly ,nice and very good. Great atmosphere for large or small parties. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and everything was excellent, we had our own quiet area which was great as i am hard of hearing. The Lasgane was specially recommended as being very tasty. Would not hesitate to return.

We don't eat out as much now because since COVID, the entire industry seems to have declined massively. So we gave Celtic Arms a go for a family meal last night with no expectations and we were blown Away. I can honestly say the Food, the Service, the Atmosphere, the Decor, the comfort and the price were all above expectations. I'd say I've eaten more than a thousand beef burgers in a thousand places around the world and this is genuinely the best one I've ever had. It was perfect. Small enough to eat without making a mess, but it has a perfect combination of ingredients that complimented eachother. We rushed out at the end of the meal due to an unexpected family emergency and I felt guilty, as I wanted to tell the staff how delighted we were, but didn't get a chance to do so.

Well very underwhelmed hadn't been for a while it was a quite Monday evening. 5 of us our starters where lovely wish I had two and chips. 3 out of 5 mains cold only the chips hot steak cold so the butter they put on top was never going to melt. Two of us waited while the other 3 hadn't been served so was even colder. Not impressed and considering a birthday meal which was mentioned not even a happy birthday thank you for choosing us seems they are in a rush to close has no one in there. And cleared up around us not even could we move you to bar area. We shall not revisit

Food was not good at all Cajun chicken burger with the smallest piece of chicken fries where warm at best onion ring soaked in grease was very low quality wont be in a rush to go back

This pub/restaurant is a gem just off the A55 in Northop. It is an attractive building in a beautiful setting. The staff are friendly and attentive and the food is well cooked and presented. Everyone in our party of 6 enjoyed their meals which included the Gammon Steak and the Beef Lasagne - all well received. If you haven't visited this place before, give it a try!

Visited the Celtic Arms on NYE around 2pm. The first thing that struck me was how friendly and welcoming the staff were. There were plenty of staff to make sure all the guests were well taken care of. The food was exceptional, really good value, generous portions and delicious. I had the burger and my wife had the chicken supreme. Both were excellent. This is the second time we have been over a few years, the quality remains as high as it did when we first visited years ago. A must visit!

I visited the Celtic Arms for food twice last week; once with work colleagues on Wednesday evening and then with friends on the Saturday evening. Myself and work colleagues were extremely impressed with the high quality food served and the very attentive service and this was replicated on our second visit! I look forward to returning with the family in December to sample the Christmas menu!

Lovely dining area, but very noisy when busy. A notable difference in quality between main course meals and pub classics. I get that more focus is put on the higher-class dishes, but the classics need love too. Very attentive and helpful staff, and happy with the prices.

Went here planning to have the set meal but chose to eat off the menu instead. It's nice and spacious inside. Food was served in good time and it was tasty. Portion sizes were just right and the service was everything we expected.

Lovely lunch, fish and chips, scampi and chips and prawn open sandwich followed by sticky toffee pudds and fruit crumble all very delicious.

Prior to attending a wedding the following day we popped in to have a look round and have a drink, must say not all the staff were friendly. Quite bossy really. Attended the wedding. Room was beautiful, food good, all served hot. Toilets throughout need attention as they were quite dirty. Would recommend as a venue if Toilets were sorted out. Grounds were lovely for pictures, as was balcony off the function room.

Staff, absolutely fantastic and lovely venue. Been here a few times and normal menu items have been fantastic and couldn’t complain. However, this time we went for a roast and oh my god! £25 for one of if not the worst Sunday roast I’ve ever eaten. One tiny slice of meat, 2 rock hard potatoes, cased peas, cabbage, a tear drops worth of gravy and a flimsy Yorkshire pudding that I wouldn’t feed to my dog. Very underwhelming for such a great restaurant.

Good menu I had the cod and chips seems to have shrunken a bit but was tasty nice that they had curry sauce as a side

Be6rn here several times for meals and funerals! Took some elderly aunts out to lunch. Food was good and waiters helpful and attentive. But - took 50 minutes for any food to arrive. Not at all ideal for two aunts in their late eighties. Shame as everything else was really nice.

Having dined here 20+ times over numerous years we've yet to have a bad experience. One of the best around

Myself and my partner went for Sunday dinner last weekend. We were seated and had our drink order taken fairly quickly, however, we watched 2 tables, who were seated after us, have their food order taken before us. We eventually had our order taken after I got up and asked someone to come over. For starters I had the spicy sweet potato soup which was gorgeous. My partner ordered the prawn cocktail which he said was 95% sauce and lettuce, with a tiny smattering of the smallest prawns he'd ever seen. For our main, I ordered the pork roast, my partner ordered the trio of meat. We were so disappointed. The roast potatoes tasted like they were cooked 4 hours previously and had gone cold. The Yorkshire pudding was the sorriest looking thing we've seen, flat, soggy, and chewy. For £23 each for 2 courses, we were sorely disappointed.

Dropped in for sunday lunch. Did book a table for 4 but were put on a table for 8 which was a bit strange. The food was ok but not fantastic. I had the steak burger which was very filling but the burger looked like it had been boiled. My wife had the fish and chips and the fish was massive and the portion sizes could be reduced.

What an absolutely tippety top find.. we called, and nothing was too much trouble to fit us in at the last minute ... All of the staff were wonderful such friendliness and wanted to make us so welcome... The food was incredible, all of it delicious .. Cannot rate this place enough and want to say thank you we had been away on holiday and what a perfect place to finalise it.

I went straight from work stood at the entry for 15 mins awaiting service so went to the bar to ask about food was virtually ignored for another 10 mins then picked up a menu and was asked if i would like food and was escorted to a table outside, i ordered my food and was asked to pay for it before the meal which was totally embarrassing as there were other customers at adjoining tables getting served and looking at me as though i was a second class citizen had to keep my head down eating my food totally ruined my meal will never go there again

Arrived late, around 8.20pm after the kitchen was effectively closed. The chef agreed to feed us which I found unusually courteous. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The food offered was limited to a roast dinner, which suited us perfectly, after cycling in the cold for hours. The food we couldn't fault, for example roast potatoes the size of a house, the amount of food was exceptional. The total cost including drinks was very respectable - we have paid the same for much less food and of a lower quality. Overall a wonderful place to visit. Shall definitely call again the next time we are in the area. Now listed as a favourite.

Lovely food, staff work really hard

A great, traditional Welsh pub, with a full dining menu, and a great selection of beers.

Rump steak meal - steaks overcooked but not warm enough to melt the butter (4 steaks), triple cooked chips hard and thin, large raw tomato and skin on the sauce. Didn't complain as didn't want to spoil a family celebration.

Attended function here, food was very nice. However the two doors before you enter the ladies toilets upstairs, were a disgrace, absolutely filthy, has anyone there heard of Cif ! Also lock on toilet door broken. Carpets covered in confetti too from a previous function.

Thank you to Izzy who looked after our party of 5, Izzy was informative and engaging aswell as very polite. She made our dining experience a joy. The food was delicious and the service was prompt. We are now looking to book again. Thank you.

The food was not as good as it used to be. The scampi was overcooked. Service is slow.

In impromptu visit having found ourselves stuck in traffic. It was a Good Friday visit and therefore Fish was the dish of choice. Exceptional fish and chips and a great hand pulled beer to accompany. Service was exceptional and the openness to allowing dogs was also a welcome addition. I’d certainly recommend a visit.

An absolute hidden gem! The ambience is very chilled out, with plenty of space for larger parties. The signature cocktails are a must try, the Celtic Bakewell is very moreish. Starters are a small but reasonable portion that whets your appetite ready for the main event. We had the pan fried chicken and the tuna steak. Both were cooked to perfection, full of flavour and the perfect amount of food to leave you feeling satisfied. The staff were really friendly and welcoming, attentive but not overbearing, with a “nothing is too much trouble” attitude. Despite living at the other side of the country I’m sure we’ll find an excuse to come back again.

Excellent lunchtime meal for four.

To be honest it was a nice meal it was Sunday roast and a Birthday celebration. Should be an option for the red cabbage and cauliflower cheese as some of our group disliked it Tables could have been spaced out better as it seemed cramped But the staff and service were excellent and atmosphere was good Would certainly go again as a couple

First visit here today...very quiet when we arrived. We were shown to our table and told that the waitress would come and take our drinks order....Sat for 15 minutes in a very quiet room...no- one came back to us. We decided to leave. We passed the staff member on our way out...didn't even ask if we were OK?

Smashing food, staff very nice and helpful, background music at a pleasant level not obscuring the flow of conversation or isolating the hard of hearing.

We only intended calling in for a drink after buying a new car. However the manager offered us a table and a menu to browse whilst he got our drinks. So glad he did, I had steak and my wife had a chicken dish. We both enjoyed our meals that much we decided a pud was in order. Excellent service, food and ambiance. Highly recommended might nip in next week after picking the new car up 👍

Our favourite place to eat in the area. Always delicious food and great menu variety. Our only minor complaint is if you're there a bit later in the evening staff will start packing up around you which can ruin the atmosphere

Great place adjacent to a golf course.

Awful Christmas Dinner today. So disappointed. £240 to be seated in a conservatory near a fire exit on Christmas day. I did ask to move tables but it wasn't possible. Food was not great at all, very basic roast with 2 roast potatoes, one carrot, one parsnip and lacked so much. Last year we paid the same to go to glasfryn and I have to say that was a completely different level of Christmas day service. Never again, really disappointed.

Lovely restaurant and the staff were attentive and pleasant but the meal was slightly disappointing. The prawn cocktail consisted of far to much lettuce and very few prawns, the roast turkey dinner was very tasty but no stuffing also lacking in veg, with two potatoes, four sugar snaps and a tiny piece of cauliflower I was still hungry, the plate was dominated by a huge Yorkshire pudding!

Works lunchtime Christmas meal. Choices for each of the 3 courses and very organised. Service like clockwork.

Really nice looking place, with friendly staff. Had Sunday lunch nicely cooked meat, but why put the meat on top of crispy roast potatoes which makes them soggy. The food was barely warm.

Opposite Northop Golf Club close to A55. This restaurant is situated in a charming rural location, boasting an appealing ambiance and a variety of seating options, including outdoor seating. The decor is particularly noteworthy, earning a perfect 10/10. However, when it comes to the food and service, we would rate it 4/5. The pastry on the steak and ale pies was slightly tough, and the filling could have been more generous. On the other hand, the butternut squash nut roast was delightful, although the portion size was relatively small. The desserts were delicious. Despite the restaurant not being overly busy, we had expected a higher level of personalised service from the staff. We will be back 👍

What's happened? The restaurant was our go-to for family parties, I had my 70th there amongst others. He food was great and service very great. I've been twice in recent months with a group of friends for lunch and both the service and food have been a little disappointing.

Everything was great, except for allowing dogs, no offence to dogs, only I'm allergic.

Came here for Sunday lunch. They accommodated a group of 13 at short notice and the food was good.

Family gathering . Very welcoming staff Good service. Not very busy on this occasion so we had the conservatory to ourselves which was great. Main courses were very good. Sticky toffee pudding was also good so I was told. I had cheesecake which was very disappointing so have taken off a star for that. Would definitely visit again but next time I'll have the sticky toffee pudding 🙂

Dropped into for birthday meal with in-laws wife and kids. The roast dinner are to die for. The carrot and ginger soup was really nice also. The staff were excellent, will 100% be added to the revisit list.

We called mid week we hadn’t booked a table and got seated immediately. Friendly and efficient staff. The food was very tasty. Would highly recommend a visit.

Sadly our steaks were cold taken back to kitchen not much difference when they returned. Shame. Cauliflower and Stilton soup not to my brother in laws taste and Masaman curry more like ratatouille came minus the spring roll which was minute when we asked for it and arrived half way through the meal. Tiramasu not to my mother's taste so all in all a dissapointing meal won't be rushing back. Couldn't fault waiting on staff.

Lovely food, service a tad slow but the food was worth it and plus we visited when it was busy with no booking so that's fair enough. Will absolutely visit again.

Phoned to book a table for the evening, very professional on phone. when we arrived we were greeted at the door and taken straight to our table, drinks order take and arrived quickly. I ordered the sirloin and the wife had sea bass which arrived within 10 minute. We must say this is one of the best Sunday lunches we have had,good portion sizes. Would highly recommend

Came here for a funeral wake. The room hired upstairs was lovely, the staff were friendly and very helpful. The food provided for the buffet was beautiful and fresh. All in all a fantastic place and hidden gem

Very nice place with excellent food. Great service and fair prices. You will pay here for a gourmet dish that in big cities you will pay surely more than double. Lot of parking and we had no issue to find a table for lunch even without booking. We stopped on our way back home from the beach but we will surely come back on our next trip.

Went here with a few mates to celebrate. The room we were in was long and was a bit of a struggle to get in and out of your seat especially when you haven't seen your mate in a while. We had to order in advance which was odd as I don't know what I want till the night like. Must of decided to have the pie because that's what arrived, was good mind you just not outstanding like the beer prices would have you believe. But the weird part was one of the waitresses must have been put up to some joke or something as she kept talking in a deep voice like she was taking the mickey mouse out of us lot, I know we aren't that prim and proper but we didn't expect a comedian. I know we are a bit rowdy like but felt a little uncomfortable getting merked on like that.
