These Sunday roasts are few and far between..they are, in our opinion the best for miles. Well worth a visit

Visited this afternoon was a late booking but managed to cater for my family of 9 first time I’d visited I had vegetable soup for starters the turkey crown Sunday roast and strawberry cheesecake for pudding absolutely nothing to faulter on the food was delicious...

Visited today for another Sunday dinner with my fiancé and parents. 3 beef dinners and 1 turkey. Generous portions of high quality food which is cooked to perfection and beautifully presented for a very reasonable price. What more could you want? I look forward to...

It's easy to see why this pub is so highly rated. We got booked in at the last minute for Sunday lunch. On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and ordered some drinks before being quickly shown to our table. I had the garlic mushrooms to start and the top side of beef roast dinner for main. Both courses were delicious, the garlic mushrooms were well cooked and very tasty, but the mountain of praise goes for the roast dinner. It was easily one of the nicest roast dinners I've had away from home. The beef had been slow roasted to perfection and fell apart. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and the homemade Yorkshire pud topped it off nicely. We got mountains of food, for £11. Amazing, and when we are back in the area we will definitely return.

Took my parents here for an 80th birthday after reading good reviews and I'm so glad I did ! Food was fantastic and the place was lovely! Couldn't fault it and I will definitely be going back 👌

Took my family for a Sunday dinner at the crown and ended up having 3 courses !! It was absolutely gorgeous ! I had turkey and the rest of my family had lamb . It was perfect what else can I say ! Great staff lovely pub and atmosphere. If you haven't been go because it's a real gem of a place !

We decided to visit for dinner after hearing good things through word of mouth, and good online reviews, however left disappointed.

We ate at The Crown on Saturday evening and was not disappointed. Several people had told us about this place so we decided to give it a go. The food was gorgeous. We were a table of 4 and all ordered different meals: Gammon, Pork Belly, Beef Featherblade and a Steak. All of the meals were fantastic and all the meat was cooked to perfection. The food was served hot and was delicious.

Just got home and had to post straight away.. my husband had sticker belly pork with salt and pepper chips and I had slow cooked lamb shank. Both on the special menus. The food was excellent, we share just a little so I can speak for both. Well cooked, plentiful. Really enjoyed them.

Good value for money food in a country pub. Strong local support and special events regularly held. Good place to stop just before you arrive at a North Wales resort.

Wow just wow this is a hidden gem in Wales. Debbie and the team were very friendly and accomodating for our party of 9 even at short notice. The prices are on the low side but the home cooked freshly prepared food was of the highest quality. Steak, gammon, burgers and chicken were all ordered and devoured. Delicious! This is a pub we shall definitely be returning to.

I had the the belly pork with black pudding and Mash - the pork melted in my mouth and was full of flavour. My husband had the steak pie and chips and declared it the Best Steak pie he’s had in a long long time. We’ve eaten here many times and Deb, the lovely landlady, has changed the menu recently- it’s really spot on. Proper home cooking, well made and nicely presented. We’ll definitely be going back for more.

Called in last night for burger night on the back of the Sunday Roasts i’ve had there being exceptional. The chicken burger was delicious and certainly lived up to expectation. 10/10 from me!

Food lukewarm and functional, which is more than could be said for the staff. Half-sized portions if you're not a local. Don't bother complaining if anything's wrong as you'll just get "I can't comment". What sort of place has people serving who can't actually deal with anything? Will never go back...

I booked this meal as it was my nephew and his wife’s last day with us before going back home to Dubai. We had a lovely few days with them visiting local areas and this just finished off their stay.

Guys you seriously need to go and have a Sunday lunch at this very welcoming local village pub/restaurant. Beautifully cooked, extremely well presented, fresh food. This place punches well above it's weight. Best booked in advance so as not to disappoint.

We have eaten at The Crown on a number of occasions when holidaying in the area both as a couple & with our children & grandchildren & although it had been almost a year since our last visit Debbie the landlady remembered us & made us feel very welcome. All the staff are very friendly & the service is excellent. They had just introduced their new menu which had plenty of interesting choices. The black pudding & goats cheese fritters were delicious as was the beer battered monkfish. The restaurant is also immaculately clean & whilst not cheap the prices are very reasonable for good quality food & drink. We will definitely always have a meal here when in the area.

Visited the Crown on Friday 26 July for tea. Have visited before and the food is very good but tonight they had hot dog night. Ok I’m not generally a big fan of this type of food but after reading the menu descriptions they obviously were no ordinary hot dogs . I had a philly cheese which was a bratwurst on a brioche roll with strips of steak and cheese added it was delicious. The owner said it was the first time they had tried this and judging by the amount of them coming out of the kitchen I would say it was very successful. There were other choices of meals on the general menu but we gave their theme meal a try which made a nice change.

We were staying local for a few days and looked at some places to eat that were local. Pleased to say we stumbled across this gem of a place, great menu with huge variety and fantastic service and all very reasonably priced.. couldn’t ask for more.. highly recommended..

Looking for somewhere to have Sunday lunch decided to give the Crown a try as we wanted something better than pub grub. What a nice surprise! Warm welcome from a friendly and efficient staff, a good choice of food freshly cooked and nicely presented not to mention generous portions. To put the icing on the cake the price was on a par with other venues that do not supply fresh produce. Will definitely be returning.

My daughter dances down the road so I popped in for a drink and was very impressed. Fast and friendly service with a very warm welcome as we entered. I've found my Tuesday waiting area until dance finishes.

After being out with my friend on Sunday morning we decided to go for lunch. Unsure where to go I suggested the Crown as I had heard good reports of late. Well we can only say what a good idea it was. Although restaurant was booked up later a table was found for us as long as we were not more than an hour which suited us.

Fabulous service. The lady in charge (we presume owner) made it a fabulous experience and efficiently looked after about 6/7 tables and a full bar.

What a find! The lady behind the bar is a legend! Cannot do enough to help, make you feel welcome and tender to your every need! To tip it off even more she was also the bartender, waitress and the general! Food was out of this world! Do not pass this place buy

Just been here for a Sunday lunch. Got an absolute plate full. Loads of gravy and really lovely fresh veg. Sticky toffee pudding was gorgeous too.

20 of us descended on this pub with short notice the food was excellent couldn’t fault it. The food was hot and plentiful the staff were impeccable I would definitely recommend this place and will return the menu was small but sufficient.

We visited Jacksons Garden Centre yesterday and had intended to eat in the café there but a huge line of people waiting for a table put us off and we decided to venture elsewhere. A hop skip and a jump down the road is the Crown and my Father in Law remembered visiting there once before so off we set. We found a car park to the rear of the building with ample space and inside a very warm welcome awaited us from Debbie who offered us any table available we liked the look of and quickly brought us our drinks order, the Kitchen was busy with orders and we were advised it would be a 20 minute wait which passed quickly in the lovely room we sat in. We ordered three light bite menu fish and chips which arrived very well presented and I have to say the meal was absolutely delicious. Debbie waited on us hand and foot and nothing was too much trouble. A lovely pub, lovely atmosphere, warm and welcoming, superb value for money and delicious food, what more could you want. My Father in Law said he would definitely make a habit of returning. Brilliant. Thankyou Debbie and team x

We have just visited The Crown as the final part of a great Hen weekend..from our arrival we were greeted by 2 lovely, friendly and very attentive ladies. They immediately showed us to our table and we were a group of 12. They served us with lovely smiles and friendly banter which was the theme if the afternoon it seems. There efforts were greatly appreciated. The food order was taken just as promptly and efficiently and the wait for the food was minimal. However, if I had had to wait for an hour it would have been worth it. Hands down the tastiest, most amazing Sunday Lunch I have ever had. The 12 of us all thought the same. The meat was tender and plentiful and the roasts were crispy yet soft and fluffy inside..and it came with mashed potato..Heaven on a plate..!! Perfect end to perfect weekend so thanks guys !! Absolute kudos to the chef !!! Already told my husband he has got to drive me back the 2 hrs to have another one and soon..

The food is outstanding as is the service and staff. A quaint little pub in the heart of Trelawnyd, really worth a visit. Cannot fault a thing, top service all round.

Booked here for Mothers day lunch well in advance! Booked for 10 of us. I called a few days before to advise the table will only be for six people now, did this out of courtesy knowing it will be busy! No problem when I called on both occasions. Was booked for 2.30pm. Arrived at the pub just after 2, was very busy with it being mothers day so stood at the bar waiting to served, After about 10 minutes someone came to serve at the bar, told the barman we had a table booked he took the name went away to see if the table was ready come back & asked for our drinks order. Ordered drinks & asked if they can be put on the table, which he said was fine. The land lady then came out & asked for the name of the booking, she was rude from the off! I told her the name of the booking & she went down the list calling all these names out we had to tell her again & again the name! She then said we were not down! but she will come back to us. We stood in the bar area waiting & waiting, we could see the waitress were clearing tables in the restaurant part. More people were turning up, one man popped his head around into the restaurant & the land lady actually shouted at him!! He made a comment on how rude she was. After being in the pub for approx half an hour she then came stomping through back in to the bar & to tell me I wasn't booked!! I explained I had this booked for weeks! She asked who I spoke to, I didn't know just that it was a lady! Their was no sorry just a comment you will have to come back one evening! I tried to explain to her that we had booked to come for mothers day lunch, I explained I had called in the week to reduce the table numbers. She then admitted that she had taken the call! When I replied so I did have a booking?? She then pointed at me & said do not look at me that way!!!!! The look I gave her was disbelief that they were telling me & my family we were not booked in on one the busiest days of the year when I had booked well in advance for us all! My brother asked her not to speak to me in this way! She completely made a scene in front of other customers! We downed our drinks & just left! I felt so sorry for the customers who were waiting to be seated you could see by their faces that they were uncomfortable watching the situation. What made matters worse as we walked out the kitchen door was open & we could hear the land lady talking about us to her staff!! My Dad wanted to go back in & confront her over her attitude but being mothers day I didn't want a scene as not very nice for the other people. Lucky enough we got in our cars & started ringing around lucky enough we got in to another pub not so far away! Where we had a lovely meal with very nice staff looking after us. We live locally & eat out a lot, we have never ever dealt with someone so rude! She wasn't just rude to us she was rude to other customers & spoke to her staff like mud as well!! The food may be 1st class but the service of this place is awful, we will never return & we will never recommend to anyone.

Visited for Mother’s Day and have to say the food was lovely as usual I had the turkey roast and my partner had the roast beef which was again really tasty,there is always a warm welcome and have never had a bad experience in this establishment.well done to the crown for once again making our day special.

My daughter booked a table here for 8 of us for Mother’s Day , the staff were very welcoming, we all had a Sunday lunch the beef is amazing all fresh veg and plenty of it . The landlady was very friendly and treated our grandchildren to a ice cream , the pub was very busy and had a fun atmosphere, we most certainly will return thank you

Our family of 11 booked for a Sunday afternoon meal.. we were all well impressed with the choices, quality and the portion sizes of our meals including the child's food... our only concern was the wait of nearly an hour for our food to start appearing from the ìnital ordering ..(It was explained to us that they were extremely busy) but we all agreed it was well worth the wait..staff were excellent very friendly and attentive... shall definitely be going back...

After our meal my wife said that this was one of the best locally cooked food she has had in North Wales. We didn't book but only just managed to get in. One bit of constructive criticism is that the chips could have been hotter, lots of restaurants these days are doing twice cooked and sometimes thrice. Booking in advance is a good idea. Special thanks to Megan who gave us wonderful service. Will we go again YES.

Having seen some pictures on Facebook I was eager to visit so glad we did! Food was excellent! Presented beautifully and very flavoursome! Kids meals were plentiful and excellent value for money! Debbie was very informative and attentive. All the servers were helpful and couldn’t do enough. Very rare to have such service! We would definitely visit again and would recommend 10/10

I had Home Cooked Ham/2 eggs & fabulous chips/salad. Absolutely gorgeous. Sister had the buttermilk chicken/chips/salad/coleslaw which she thoroughly enjoyed as well. Will definitely be back.

A real hidden gem. Have driven past for years but stopped for dinner a month ago and it was so good, we've been back a couple of times since.

Where to start! From walking through the front door we were made to feel so welcome, the atmosphere was lovely and we felt at home straight away. We both chose the black pudding starter it was amazing! I would have gone home happy if that was all I had eaten but we followed it with the beef brisket and the special of pork cheeks! Oh my days it was exceptional! My mouth is watering just thinking of the rich jus and succulent pork! I honestly couldn't fault a thing! We didn't have dessert as we were too full but they looked beautiful. It was a birthday meal and Debbie the landlady brought out a beautiful bouquet that my husband had pre arranged with her and a glass of wine as a birthday treat from the crown! We had a lovely evening and we will definitely be returning, ww honestly couldn't fault a thing! I think this is our new favourite place to eat, can't wait for our next visit.

I've been to The Crown twice within the last couple of months and the food has been exceptional on both occasions. I can highly recommend the Sunday lunches from the first visit when my family and I were left completely satisfied. Last night was a three course treat of: ale battered haddock goujons for starters, beef brisket with horseradish mash and shallots in a wonderful jus as a main, followed by mint chocolate chip ice-cream, (as there wasn't room for much else). My boyfriend opted for the black pudding starter, black and blue burger, and salted caramel cheesecake. His starter looked divine and the peppercorn sauce was incredible. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, which is perfectly presented without forfeiting portion size. Adding to all this the attentive and friendly attitude of the staff, The Crown is well worth a visit.

Regular catch up with a good friend, needed a new venue. Have been to the Crown many times before but not for a while. Food was beautiful all home cooked, tasty and delicious. Staff were attentive and friendly. Lovely atmosphere will definitely be back. 👍

The Crown Inn sits on the London road in the Flintshire village of Trelawnyd. The Inn has changed hands a number of times during my tenure nearby but the current proprietors, Ceri (Landlady - front of house) and Nathan (chef par excellence), have made a supreme effort to place it among the best culinary experiences of the area. Upon entry, Ceri provides everybody with an enthusiastic and warm welcome whilst Nathan busies himself preparing their meals in the kitchen. All food is prepared fresh for each order. I wouls very strongly reccomend The Crown Inn to all.

Really exceptionally good food, wish I had room for pudding lol. Will be going back! Perfectly cooked steak amazing sauce chips, was just lovely.

Fabulous food; fabulous staff and a lovely traditional country pub. And dog friendly! Finally we have found somewhere we can bring our pooch and enjoy fantastic, freshly cooked local produce. So glad we found it. Cannot recommend highly enough!

So glad to find this little gem of a place. Its small and cosy with a lovely atmosphere, you can sit and relax on the sofas in front of the roaring fire while ordering drinks and food. Nothing is too much trouble for Debbie the manager and she is so friendly and welcoming. The food is really lovely and is all very fresh and homemade and if you're vegan and ring in advance the chef will make sure there's something on the menu for you. Won't bother going anywhere else in the local area now because I'm always disappointed, I'll stick to The Crown where I know I can get good food at a reasonable price. Thanks Debbie and team for making my elderly parents lunch out to celebrate my dad's legion of honour medal a very enjoyable experience for all of us. We will be back.

Came across this pub when away for weekend in Rhuddlan with friends. Great find. Had Sunday lunch and it was beautiful, we all enjoyed it, choice of lamb shank, gammon, beef and turkey - all homemade, hot, well presented and tasted delicious. Wish we had room for dessert as they looked lovely but was far too full. Will definitely return when we are next over and have a dessert then (I’ll skip breakfast to make sure I have room)

Dinner for four, promptly served from a good menu and the proprietress was in attendance. Very good customer relations and well trained helpful staff. She seems to have a good chef for although we ordered different meals they all arrived together and the quality and presentation was excellent. However the dining area is rather small and spartan and on this occasion a little noisy,Will go again,

We popped in this afternoon on the off chance that food was being served. As soon as we got there Debbie gave us a very warm welcome. She explained that all the food was fresh, cooked to order and locally sourced.

Amazing food,Nice friendly staff. We had the Black pudding & egg & crispy bacon to start also Fried Brie to start & then Chicken wrapped in Bacon, And then X2 10oz Rump with Home made chips BOOM :) would definitely recommend

Sunday lunch at The Crown is as good as it gets. It can get busy, but you never feel neglected. The food is locally sourced and freshly prepared. Pleasant country pub atmosphere and restaurant area. Good value for money. Top marks!

Could not fault Sunday lunch, can’t wait to visit again and try the main menu! Everything on the plate was fresh local produce, beautifully cooked and very, very much enjoyed. The service was exceptionally good, nothing was too much trouble.

We called in on the off chance on a Sunday afternoon, only to be served the most delicious Sunday lunch. Could not fault the food or service in any way, we will definitely be calling there again in the near future.

I often say I'll pop in one day when I pass, tonight was my first visit to The Crown and I was pleasantly surprised by the the quality of the food and service. I went for the Fiery Beef Chili that came with rice, salad and homemade nachos. I couldn't believe how generous the serving was and how delicious the meal was. It certainly gets a thumbs up from me, the staff was very helpful and polite. A lovely place to visit and I'll certainly be visiting again.

Have passed this pub many times but so glad we decided to call in. Debbie is very welcoming and attentive explaining that the food is sourced locally and all cooked fresh. After the initial visit have now been back 3 times and each time has been just as good. Gorgeous food, menus change regularly so you not eating the same things every visit and the theme nights ie burger night etc are great value. Well done Debbie and team at the Crown already looking forward to our next visit.

What a gem this place is. We are walking the n wales pilgrims way and this village was our end point. I phoned the landlady in advance and she said we could leave our cars in the car park for the duration of the walk. She could not have been more accommodating or helpful. Post walk we went in for drinks and the service was excellent. The food looked amazing...next time. Lovely to see a village pub so welcoming and hospitable. A real gem

Decided to try the crown for our sunday lunch after readin reviews. It didnt disapoint. My lamb was probably the best ive had. And pleantiful. My husbands gammon and daughters goats cheese and vegetable lasagne were given the thumbs up. Staff were attentive. Good value for money. We will be back.

Called in again today & had another amazing Sunday lunch!! Everything was cooked to perfection with lashings of tasty gravy, we had the roast dinner but there was ample choice on the menu if you wanted something different, this is a wonderful pub with really friendly helpful staff . Stopped at the Crown as we were passing for lunch. What a fab little pub. Such a warm friendly welcome & the food was wonderful. I've passed by so many times & wondered what it's like. Well, now I know and would urge others to visit. You won't be disappointed. We'll certainly be back soon

Me my partner and 2 year old son ate here after being recommended and we were not disappointed. Debbie was extremely welcoming and very good with our little lad. The food was genuinely fantastic, massive portion (too much if anything as being a man I had to eat it all‍♂️)... we would certainly visit again and def recommend to anyone !!

Called on a Thursday evening with the wife and 2 year old grandson. We were greeted by Debbie who showed us a table and gave us a high chair for the toddler. She explained that as all food was cooked fresh there would be a slight wait for our order. She then proceeded and gave us the menu.

The best Sunday roast in North Wales. I visited with my husband and my parents, we ordered the Sunday roasts (2 beef, 1 lamb and 1 pork) All of the meals were delicious.Deb and her team were very welcoming, friendly, nothing was too much to ask for. We've booked for next Sunday, can't wait.

Had a meal this afternoon with my wife and dad, belly pork, cider gray and mash was unbelievably good, also turkey, stuffing and cranberry ciabatta with roast potatoes and dipping gravy went down very well.

We enjoyed our first class Easter Day lunch here. The most apologetic host, apologised 40 times to the seated guests when we were eating. We kindly told her that when the food served is that good, there is no need to apologies. Our lamb and beef were excellent, the food was hot with generous helpings, those serving were attentive and to hand. My friend and I decided to go on a shopping trip Easter Sunday but alas due to it being Easter most places were closed we decided to drive to Jackson’s garden centre on the way passing the Crown pub when we found the garden centre closed we called at The Crown to see if we could have a bite to eat. We obviously had not booked we were greeted by Debbie who was so accommodating giving us a table which was reserved for a bit later she gave us a menu of which we ordered two roast lunches and two glasses of merlot. She explained the restaurant was booked up for Sunday lunch but she could squeeze us in if we were not planning on being too long.

We were on holiday for Easter and came off the A55 because of horrible traffic jam and found this lovely pub. We were all starving and hoping beyond hope that we could find good food and a drink. The welcome was promising and local guys st the bar explained the landlady would be with us in a minute. And she was! Shortly after opening the door we were shown to a table by the window in a warm welcoming traditional pub. The friendly, bubbly landlady, Debbie, couldn’t have made us more welcome. She is a joy. When you are tired, hungry and thirsty Debbie is as absolute vision of loveliness ! So we were quickly served our drinks and ordered our food. Debbie had explained that all the meat and vegetables were sourced locally. We could tell that this lady really cared about her customers and when our meals arrived we were delighted. Not only are the prices very reasonable but the quality is superb. We had a steak, a burger and a gammon meal. Each meal cooked well and according to what we wanted and very well presented. We really enjoyed our food. Thank you so much Debbie and everyone at The Crown.

Visited on Good Friday for the 1st time in years. Landlady was rushed off her feet due to staff shortages but the smile never left her face and we felt that we were valued customers. Food (fish, chips and mushy peas) was superb - very obviously fresh and home cooked. Lovely atmosphere in the place and we will definitely be back on a Sunday to sample the roast!

We have visited twice this week and not been disappointed- one for burgers which were delicious, great quality meat and MASSIVE and then once for the Sunday roast. Again delicious, and the sticky toffee pudding was one of the best I’ve ever had (and I’ve sampled a few!) Great value and Debs and all of the staff couldn’t be more helpful. Definitely recommend!

Arrived to a warm welcome from Debbie. Restaurant cosy, nice atmosphere. Despite a long wait for food, due to staff member being down. It was very nice. Maybe a little limited menu for gluten free, but Debbie did accommodate us. Will be going back..

Having passed it a few times we popped in off the cuff for a bite to eat.

Best fish and chips we have had for a long long time. Quality of the fish was excellent, home made chips and mushy peas, what more could you ask for...... How about a roaring fire, a dog friendly pub, good selection of beers and excellent wine, great prices and best of all Debbie and her team, who always make us feel welcome. Take time to stop off at the pub, and take a little time to relax.
