Visited here on a Saturday evening. Odd atmosphere to walk in to. Very loud music and half of the pub in darkness. No food was available although advertised outside, and drinks were limited to a small selection. Feels very much like a 'locals' pub.

Visited the Crown Inn whilst staying in nearby Prestatyn. Warmly welcomed and seated in the restaurant area. We ordered the dirty fries for a starter, it was huge and very nice indeed. Topped with cheese, bacon bits and pieces of pork belly. I then had the chicken supreme, again very generous amount. Chicken cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious. My partner had the pork belly which was beautiful with a lovely crackling, mash with cheese and a very tasty sauce. We were stuffed and would definitely go back again. The ingredients are all locally sourced and the menu is fantastic. Looking forward to returning in the winter to sample more fantastic food and sit by the log fire 😊

Food is amazing. There’s a choice of sitting in the restaurant and having a traditional menu or sitting in the pub itself and having pizza, burger etc. We went for the pub menu and my dirty fries with chilli beef and sriracha on a pitta. It was a mountain and tasted awesome. We will definitely be returning to work my way through the rest of the menu.

The Crown no longer has a restaurant, just take away meals served in cardboard. We didn't eat so can't comment on the food. The new management seemed to have made an effort by providing more outside seating and plants. However we were there for nearly two hours and the whole time we were there there were empty food cartons on tables, nobody seemed interested in clearing them. Tables certainly weren't wiped clean after people left. The new management make no effort to interact with customers.

As it was during pandemic we had to eat outside using disposable dishes, cutlery etc. Food was way better than I expected. It was the best kebab I have ever had and there was lots of it. Highly recommended. Must be even better when being able to eat I side off plates. Beautiful food.

This pub/restaurant has just been taken over by new owners and have to say our visit was not a disappointment! The pub itself is cosy and welcoming and even though the pub was busy when we arrived (rugby was on) we were made to feel welcome and getting served wasn't a problem. We then went in to the restaurant for our Sunday lunch which we booked a few days before (looking at how busy it was I'd suggest you just give them a ring to make sure you get a booking). Being traditionalists we had a full Sunday lunch and it was AMAZING - All the veg was fresh and cooked to perfection, as was the pork & beef (the meat options we went for), there were also lots of roasties and a huge Yorkshire pudding... all topped off with lots and lots of gravy... I like my food and I'm not exactly a delicate soul when it comes to eating, but I was certainly well fed after eating this lot. In terms of deserts, there were all the old favourites; Apple pie, sticky toffee pudding, syrup pudding to name but a few - I went for the Apple pie with cream and my partner went for the syrup pudding with ice cream, again both were great... TBH I did have a small amount of pudding envy when the deserts arrived but that soon lifted with my first mouthful of pie :-) so no harm no foul as they say! All in all the meal was fantastic and when you factor in the price around £30 all in, including a few drinks, this really is a bargain. Before we left we got talking to the landlady and she informed us that she’d only been open a few weeks and had managed to get the chef (Richard) from the now closed Tavern Altami on board, by all accounts he has a strong reputation and from what we experienced is a great chef. Will defo be back to sample some more of the delicious food and warm hospitality. Thank you guys.

I went here with my friend on Sunday 4thJuly and we ordered 2 Roast Beef dinners at £8.95 each. We were not impressed as we go out for Sunday lunch most weeks and we have paid cheaper and got a better meal. When the lunch arrived it was all been made from frozen vegetables and I am used to eating fresh vegetables. I couldn't eat all mine as there was no taste to it at all, tasted very watery. When I told the waitress, she apologized but when we were leaving they still charged us full price and I went away still feeling hungry and a bit upset they hadn't knocked anything off our bill. We ended up having to go elsewhere and spend more money. I certainly wouldn't rate this place and certainly won't be eating there again. Very disappointed.

If you’re hoping to eat here, I would recommend you ring first and check what menu they’re offering... We are staying in the area for a few days and booked to eat at the Crown Inn tonight, as reviews over the past few months on TripAdvisor stated there was a new chef who was very good. I checked the menu online and it looked great. When we arrived, we were presented with a menu that was the most basic of pub food - ham, egg and chips and similar dishes - no sign of the lamb shanks or the belly pork with kale that we’d seen on the website. I asked if there was another menu, which there wasn’t. The manager then appeared and apologized, stating that their new chef had been stealing stuff from the kitchen and they’d had to sack him, so they were offering basic pub food only till they got someone new. I can’t tell you what the food was like, as at that point we decided to find somewhere else. It’s probably OK if you like chips.

Last weekend I thought I would take the drive from deepest dark Mold to Pantymwyn to treat the lovely wife on her 45th birthday. In a nutshell a dreadful night out and experience. Ordered Beer battered Cod and chips for £12.95. Sounds nice I hear you say. It was a shocker. Batter was like chewing rubber and tasteless. The chips were clearly from Iceland Frozen foods and were under cooked. The mushy peas were OK. All in all rotten value for money. The "Big Fish" in Mold do Cod and chips for £4.90 and they are always quality. The Chef at the Crown Inn needs to get to the Big Fish in Mold to sample proper fish and chips and learn how to cook food properly. Much more food like this and the Crown will be looking for new owners as customers desert the place. Just ask Rob Edwards he can speak from experience at losing customers hand over fist..

As a user of trip advisor went off pictures and reviews. It seems something has significantly changed? All the pictures do not represent the venue, the food was very average. Access to dining room is from a corner of a very tacky bar, that had loud music and Karaoke playing.... In summary completely not as described. We would not return this is not a gastro pub....

Wow - That was as poor as it gets. We looked at the photos and read the reviews and thought we’d give it a go. We eat out all the time and love a good meal out. This wasn’t even bang average! It was like pub food 20 years ago, when frozen chips were on the scene. Mrs Hughes and I had Steak pie and Steak and onion pie and chips (both were the same). Chips will have been from farm foods - The pies also! Jack had fish fingers, fries and beans. Good portion but horrid quality. Joey went for the 8oz burger. The little fatty asked for another patty for £1.50 and to be fair it was massive!!! Trust me you don’t need 2. All in all it was very sub standard. They need to sort it out quick of the food business won’t last long in that place!

Visited here for the first time in a few years this weekend and had an excellent lunchtime meal. I had one of their 8oz burgers and it was very good quality, full of flavour. My eldest also had a burger and he is very particular about his burgers and even he was very impressed. My wife had the Gammon with both egg and pineapple, again she thoroughly enjoyed it, the pineapple was fresh pineapple not tinned. The chips were proper homemade chips not pre-packed frozen chips and again very good quality. The onion rings that came the burgers were homemade not frozen. Unlike many pubs quality was not sacrificed for quantity, but there was more than enough food on our plates to fill all of us. All very reasonably priced and a good pint of a local ale as well. We shall return to try their evening menu.

Wow what a pub!!! OK so the 1930s build is not necessarily my idea of a "proper English Village pub" but as soon as you walk into this gem the locals are greeting you and you become part of the community. The staff were so friendly, the land lord made a point of introducing himself and we were set up for the afternoon / evening. A great Gin collection, fab menu - the only down side was what to choose as the reviews I read about the food were all very good. We chose our food - we shared a started of leek and potatoe soup - probably the nicest I've ever had - and as soon as other meals came out I was thinking OMG I should have ordered that - to pretty much everything - the Curry of the day - wow that spelt amazing but I had the fajitas - delicious ( vegetarian but the chef threw some chicken in for me) MY Husband had a chicken breaks with bacon / cheese - not your typical hunter chicken - much too tasty for that - everything i s made to order by the chef - who is part of the management team and been around for 8 years - just been a finalist in the Welsh pub food awards - ( It must have been rigged as he should have won!) - we then made it over to the bar and continued to chat to Kerry - Barmaid and Rob - landlord - the locals joining in it was like we were old friends returning - really great evening - My Husband on learning the landlord was a Guinness man instantly decided he had better have a pint then ( as he's mega fussy about his Guinness - But the pint was perfect - so another 4 later,,,,,, we found the pub on a "motorhome stop over" site so we stayed in our motorhome in the car park - my husband had a local job in Mold the next day so our evening was a real treat - the early night never happened - as we thoroughly enjoyed the food, the company , the coffee and everything about The Crown Inn The bill at the end of the night was circa £60 for 2 of us - 1 starter 2 mains and a dessert - 2 coffees and copious amounts of gin / Guinness / red wine - amazing value !!!

Booked a table for 16 people 2 weeks in advance for Sunday lunch for our dads 60th birthday, having been here several times for family gatherings or as a couple for meals it was our first choice as food and service has always been great.service from the waitress this time was terrible she was quite frankly rude and we were made to feel unwanted the minute we were seated.having just taken our seats same asked us what did we want to order from the Sunday roast menu,I explained we were going to order drinks first and then we would be ready to order ,her reply we have these tables booked out after you! My mum immediately wanted to leave but not wanting to ruin dad’s meal as family had traveled from Manchester we stayed. Food came to the table quickly and disappointing, everyone’s Yorkshire puddings were burnt and hard we had a spoonful of instant mash and for the price small portions , the server was miserable and standoffish and unlike past reservations wasn’t very welcoming towards us , will not be coming back unfortunately everyone in our party wanted to complain but we didn’t for dads sake

I went for the BBQ pulled pork Loaded Fries and it did not disappoint! On ordering, I felt the simple dish seemed expensive, being around the £18 mark, but on eating it it felt worth every penny 😋

Had a lovely lunch, The chicken parfait was excellent as was the fish n chips! The chips were the best we had ever eaten - gorgeous! The bar area was quiet and the staff very attentive . Will definitely recommend and can’t wait to return!
