We stopped here on the way to Pendine sands. Beautiful venue with amazing views. Staff were incredibly accommodating- especially as we had our 1 year old with us, nothing was too much for the staff and they went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Food was generously portioned and delicious, particularly the squid.

Have passed this place on many occasions but have not stopped. We had a family member with a gluten allergy and I noted that they were very good in offering a coeliac friendly menu. It was very busy for a weekday lunchtime but we were seated quickly. Great menu and great service with a large range of chef’s specials. Nicely decorated internally with a very pleasant ambience. Disappointed we had not stopped before! We will certainly be returning. A further added benefit of being dog friendly.

Lovely surroundings. It’s not the first time we’ve been so recommended it to family from Swansea as a half way point to meet. Nice selection of food, beautifully presented. The vegetarian options were very limited and the Welsh rarebit toasted brioche was a little dry but the meat and fish eaters were delighted with their meals. The only disappointment was the constant testing of the fire alarms, on and off for nearly 30 minutes. It spoilt the atmosphere and we were unable to speak or hear each other. What a shame.

Final night of our holiday, and hadn't had a good experience of eating out earlier in the week. Superfood salad with salmon, chicken curry for my son and shin of beef for my husband. Desserts were fab - baked alaska, black forest knickerbocker glory for me and rum and raisin cheesecake for our 16 year old son. Service was good, food was lovely and really wished we'd found it earlier in our stay so we could have made more than one visit!

We met up with friends and had a lovely Christmas Day Lunch at The Plough. There was a lot of thought given by the team at the Plough to putting together such a varied menu by the team. Thank you all for giving up your Christmas Day for us. Happy Christmas and a Good New Year to you all.

We had an appalling Christmas menu lunch which had little resemblance to a traditional British Christmas dinner. We had a fishcake starter which was bizarre. The fishcake lacked adequate seasoning and was topped by a poached egg which was inadequately cooked with the white still runny. The Christmas pudding was a sticky, treacly mess. Overall, it was the worst meal I have ever tasted.

The Plough is in the most wonderful position and almost perfect with modern decor and the cleanest toilets I have ever entered! The menu is extensive and the food cooked to perfection. Our dog was welcome and was given a bowl of water as soon as we were seated. A few days later we returned for morning coffee and cake and even though there was quite a wait for the latter, it was presented so beautifully. It is a very special place with such attention to detail and we can't wait to return. However ........ maybe the very efficient and polite waiter/possible Manager could be a little more friendly - when complimented on the food, there was absolutely no reaction or even a smile from him!

We booked a table based on some online recommendations. The place indeed appears to be a local favourite! It was quite full for a Thursday evening. Food wise it was a hit and miss. The Gressingham duck breast medium rare was cooked to a perfection, however the slow cooked lamb was on the dry side. The portions though were quite big for all the dishes ordered. Overall a good meal!

My husband and I decided to have lunch here as it was the last day of our 2 week holiday in the area. We sat outside as it was a warm and sunny day. There were several terraced seating areas so we were able to sit where we could enjoy the view of the beautiful countryside. We both ordered omelette which included a choice of three fillings, buttered veg or salad and a choice between four different types of potato. Considering it was quite busy, our meals were served promptly and were delicious. They were hot, well presented and we agreed it’s not often mushroom are served whole in an omelette with plenty of them too! I definitely recommend eating here and only wish we had stopped earlier in our holiday so that we could fit in another visit!

Amazing. The place is definitely a hub for the community as it was very busy, a good social atmosphere and no pretentious bells or whistles. The staff were friendly and helpful and service was excellent. The food was outstanding, the plates were hot , service was professional and they catered for a family member who is Gluten free, who commented it was the best salmon meal they had ever had. The price was great too, especially for the quality and quantity. We all enjoyed the meal and overall experience and will be back for another meal and dessert as soon as we are back in the area.

We went for Sunday lunch, a meal that conjures up crisp roast potatoes and melt in the mouth yorkshire puds! Sadly this was not to be. The Plough is very popular for Sunday lunch and it was good to see so many people. Our starters, prawn cocktail and lamb cawl were generous and tasty, although a traditional prawn cocktail is usually served in a glass with iceberg lettuce. This one was served in a soup dish with cucumber, so not traditional. The passion fruit cheese cake dessert was the highlight of the meal. Really beautiful. Now to the mains. There was plenty of meat, both the beef roast and the lamb roast, but both were so slow cooked that there was no chewing to be done at all. The roast potatoes were vaguely brown and not crisp at all. We did enjoy the red cabbage and the caulifower cheese. There was a small portion of mixed veg that were so undercooked that they were tough. We couldn't decide what the other offering was, a rather soggy helping of possibly swede mixed with potato? But the greatest disappointment was the yorkshire pud. It was large! too large, and had the consistency of cardboard and was almost tasteless. As we watched the plates being cleared we had noticed that most folk had left the puds. Perhaps the Plough is the victim of its success. They were mass catering and the staff were coping as best they could with so many people to serve. Or perhaps people just don't really understand what a well cooked roast tastes like.

We visited here for the last night of our wales trip for dinner only. We did not stay so cannot comment on the hotel. From the outside, the building looks very impressive and from researching on Instagram, the pictures and the business looks amazing. However; when we walked through the door, we were greeted at the restaurant with an old fashion restaurant layout printed on A3 paper, with each table been allocated in pencil. We were then lead to our table (that we had booked) right in the far back corner of the restaurant (table 52) where the nearest table was sat 10-12 tables away from us. It has completely no atmosphere, and was something like a scene out of Ramsay’s kitchen nightmares. Where the only 2 other tables average age was 65-70. We are a young couple of 32M/28F and we felt very uncomfortable. And It didn’t get better there. There was a ramekin on the table with a mustard sachet and some brown sugar sachets. The menu is old fashioned, with lots of stews, casseroles, and a beef stroganoff. Also melon as a starter. However the specials menu sounded amazing, which with both ordered the scallops. It’s almost if they have 2 chefs, 1 fighting for his old ways, and a newer younger chef that they let control the specials menu. The scallops were really good. The service on the other hand, was far too quick and abrupt. We ordered a drink when we sat down, and then was asked to order our food straight away. When we finished our starters, my other half went to the loo, and by the time she was back, the starters had been cleared and the main courses delivered, leaving absolutely no time to digest, relax or chat in-between. It was as if they wanted you out as soon as possible. No wonder the restaurant had only 3 tables at 6pm. I had fish and chips for mains, that was pretty average at best, and my other half had the lamb, which was quite over cooked and stringy. The deserts tasted as though they were frozen and just been re heated and not homemade. Overall we were very disappointed with the overall service feeling rushed and uncomfortable, the restaurant had no atmosphere at all. With the food begin average, we would not recommend to anyone.

We ordered a takeaway lunch and had high hopes from the menu posted on line. My husbands burger was average but the chips were a disgrace, overcooked scraps that looked like yesterdays leftovers, packed in a paper bag so were cold. My lamb was stringy, served with chunks of potato and carrot with minimal scraps of cabbage. This was certainly not value for money

Four of us went there for dinner, on a weeknight. We waited what seemed like quite a long time for our meals once we'd made choices. In general, the food was nice, but not exceptional, but one or two details let it down. One of the party chose the cheeseboard dessert, which was, frankly, very poor. We have wonderful cheeses available to us and it isn't difficult to put together a board with good crackers, perhaps a few grapes and above all interesting cheese. We felt the desserts were unimaginitive in general. But the crowning moments were the speed with which our plates were whisked away - I had only just put my last forkful in my mouth when my plate zipped away from in front of me and the same thing happened with one person's dessert. Let us draw breath before clearing, please! I'm sorry to say we probably won't go there again as we can do better elsewhere in Carmarthenshire.

Greeted by staff on arrival who struggled to find our booking but did eventually so all good. Shown to our table, which was between two larger tables and no way was it 2 metres away from either. I requested another table as it was too close to other diners, and we were offered table 75. Much better. You need to rethink the position of that other table in the conservatory, I’m certain its too close to the others for social distancing. Ordered the rustic breads and fishcake for starters both delicious, celtic pride burgers and cheesy garlic bread for mains, again delicious. Service was good- staff very friendly and helpful. We only regret not keeping enough room for a pudding! Paid with a gift voucher that we’d received for afternoon tea- was great that they allowed us to trade it in for money off a meal instead. All in all a lovely visit. The one way system was effective and there was plenty of sanitiser around the place. Diolch yn fawr

Every member of staff has a positive and happy attitude, even after 2 years Adrian still rembered us, our compliments to Andrew, the owner for the staff morale in this difficult time when they have to work so hard due to Covid restraints. Only 2 of 3 bedrooms opened intially in apartment. Had to ask for the key separately for the third bedroom. Key cards for seperate bedrooms has the potential for a distater especially with children using the bedrooms (key locked in rooms). The food was not pleasant. Mains arrived before starters. Pretty sure the chicken liver parfait was off, if not tasted awful. The olives and bread starter tasted as if it was out of a packet from the local supermarket. Plates tried to be taken away before everyones food was finished. Coffee cheesecake dessert tasted of nothing and had a moist mushy base. Took an age to settle the bill as the attention of the staff was prepareing the restaurant for the next day instead of focusing on the customers in the restaurant. Food was very overpirced for the quality of it. Went to breakfast in the morning dodging a large leak from the ceiling. Not impressed at all.

Visited with the family yesterday for afternoon tea. We had been put in the small upstairs dining room which was fine but even with the air conditioning super warm. Staff were attentive when we arrived but drinks took a long time to get to us. The sweet afternoon tea had cheesecake (which was melting on the stand), lemon possett, a macaron, chocolate cake, bara brith and scones with finger sandwiches, wraps and a sausage roll. The picinic had a fish cake, pork pie topped with cranberry, sausage roll (which was missing from one but soon corrected), sandwiches, wraps, pavlova, choc cake, bara brith and scones. I had a lemonade instead of tea/coffee. It was fine but my father in law was hoping for a slice of cake, plain old victoria sponge would have done but there wasn’t any. His words ‘it was nice but we get a better spread at home’. The picnic is a nice new addition to the menu. It was fine for the ‘Eat out to help out’ scheme as was 50% off. We wouldn’t pay £18.50 for the picnic normally and would opt for a meal instead. We like visiting the plough and understand these times are very trying so well done on the level of service that you’re providing. Hopefully we can visit again soon and sit outside with our dog to enjoy the al fresco set up which looked lovely.

Sunday lunch so very busy but we squeezed into an empty table so great(no waiting) very attentive staff - menu's handed out, drinks served and orders taken and served at table in 15 minutes - impressive when you are in a hurry.Looks very well used by the locals of the area (always a good sign) but does need a bit of a freshen up. Money is tight as I know but when the toilet roll dispenser is faulty and the hand dryer is broke, it's not looking too good.Still gets 4 stars off me for the attentive staff, the lovely food and good prices but has potential for 5 stars with some money being spent on the place.

We needed a nice, big family breakfast in a rural location and this place had been recommended by my Mum who lives fairly locally. The food was beautifully cooked and had good quality ingredients, morning coffee was delicious and plenty of fruit and cereal was available. Lovely dining room with pleasent views and comfortable seating. My only complaint would be the look of disdain we were given when the lady serving us saw we had 3 children with us - 2 teenagers and a baby. None of the children were noisy or unable to eat politely and it was uncomfortable to be told loudly that we could have breakfast but needed to know that it was 8 pounds per person. We didn't care if it was 8 pounds per person and actually felt this was cheap for such a nice place. We had to ask for a high chair and it was dirty. Cleaning it very grudgingly, the lady told us that it wasn't her fault as she hadn't been working the night before. We hadn't attributed any blame or been rude about the high chair but again we're made to feel that children were an annoyance.

The Plough Inn was a nice respite after a long day of climbing around Carreg Cennen and settling in to our B&B; in Llangadog. My first thought was we were way under-dressed for this place, but no one batted an eye at our less than formal appearance. We sat in the lounge area (I was reticent to sit in the dining area as everyone there looked fabulous). We were greeted warmly and our food order was taken relatively quickly. Service was a bit slow, but the meal was worth the trip. We started with the leek and coriander falafel appetizer and were very pleased with the nice hint of spice. For the main course, I had the duck breast. It was a little more medium than the medium rare I ordered, but tasty nonetheless. My wife raved about the fillet and what I tried was tender and juicy. A family seated next to us complained mightily about the fish and chips, but that didn't match our experience. Overall a nice restaurant in Llandeilo that is worth a visit, particularly after a long day of exploring.

I’m a massive Sunday luncher and this place definitely ticked all the boxes. It is a 45 minute drive for us to get to this place and it’s definitely worth it. Will 100% be returning soon!

A last-minute visit here which we hadn't booked. Popped in to enquire if a table was free and dealt with polite and warmly by the waiter in charge. We'd read the reviews and were looking forward to a good meal....

Ordered chicken curry and the popadom was stale. There was a very small portion of chips too. The adults sausage and mash came with small sausages and a thimble of mash. There was more mash on the child’s equivalent meal which was half the price. (This Seems to be a thing in Landeilo we’ve noticed- all kids portions are as big as adults - so maybe no one noticed here) Staff friendly and nice tho

The restaurant offers a good range of options involving local and regional ingredients. The menu covers a wide spectrum from restaurant-style dishes to typical pub meals. The food and drink is reasonably priced and the service is excellent. During my two stays in July, I ate in the restaurant four times and I was not disappointed at any time.

We hadn’t been here for quite a while after being disappointed with the quality of food on previous visits. It now appears to be under new management and we were delighted with the presentation and taste of the food we had. There is a good variety in the menu and a fair size wine list. Portions are a good size too. Service was friendly, efficient and fast. We will definitely be returning.

Sunday lunch with the family today to celebrate my dad’s 83rd birthday. Food was really amazing and their service was efficient. However what let it down was the serving staff. I can’t fault their professionalism but they were too formal, cold and unwelcoming. It’s a shame as we’d have stayed longer and ordered desserts and coffee but neither us felt comfortable being there. I can’t fault the food thought. Amazing.

Our friends had dined here previously and booked dinner for four earlier this week. I chose the chef's specials to start and for the main course, mackerel and salmon respectively which were very good. Driving I was unable to drink but the other diners enjoyed red and rose wines. Service was friendly and relaxed, with coffee on the terrace.

2nd trip, after giving it great review and what a difference. The food was good but the service terrible. We had to wait for the barmaid to stop chatting to some people she knew, to order our drinks, they did not arrive so we had to reorder. The table was wiped with a damp cloth and left greasey smears. Had to wait for the menu, asked for the dessert one as it was not offered when clearing our plates. After waiting too long for it we paid and left. They had served a coach party, but they had finished when we arrived and the 6 staff that were on seemed more concerned with clearing up after them than looking after the customers they still had

We visited The Plough with some friends for a weekend in Llandeilo. We expected a pub but this is very much a 4* hotel and probably better for it. Rooms were spotlessly clean, all the staff were very pleasant and helpful and the hotel felt genuinely welcoming, which is a rarity. Rooms unusually had full air conditioning which was a very pleasant surprise but also had opening windows. Views of the Towy Valley were great and there was plenty of (free) parking. Nice garden area and a number of seats/tables on the terraces/patio areas. Breakfast was very good, freshly cooked and quality ingredients. We also ate in the restaurant both nights and the menu was varied, food well-presented and fresh with pleasant service.

Out for a journey and it was hot, dogs restless and I needed a “visit” and some food!!! Stepped into a beautiful modern place... warm welcome to their better than average bar area with our two pooches. Too hot to sit on the lovely terraces sadly. Menu was really interesting with local produce and interesting combinations. We chose a lite bite... mine the Felafel & hummus and OH the g & t fish bites!!! The presentation was superb and portions ample. Followed this with a sourdough bap filled to the brim with steak, poached/fried onion and Harlech cheese. Served with a dressed salad, coleslaw, root veg crisps (or chunky fries) . Best lunch I’ve had for ages.... all this with a large Coke each for £28! Even husband waxed lyrical. Would be a lovel venue for a small wedding as The Plough has a function room and accommodation. It may be a 40 minute drive from home but I can’t wait until next time to sample their dinner dishes.

We went for a traditional Sunday Lunch at The Plough Inn and were delighted by both food and service. Our waiter Adrian was knowledgeable and friendly. My husband had the fish and chips and I had traditional Roast beef with all the trimmings. Their side dishes to this were tasty and had a good variety. The setting is stunning countryside.

We were pleasantly surprised to find this smart, modern hotel tucked away in a little village in Carmarthenshire. We had lunch on our arrival, and I really liked my confit of duck leg, though my wife was not so impressed with her duck breast. The room was spacious, with views of rolling green hills, and the staff were friendly. In the morning we enjoyed big portions of Welsh breakfast, which included black pudding and croquettes of potato and laver bread. Our main complaint was the shower, or rather wet room, where you had to handle a very heavy shower head and water slopped out over the bathroom floor. However, I would still very much recommend this hotel.

We had a nice evening meal whilst staying over in the adjoining Hotel. The food was of good quality and was presented well and the service very friendly and efficient. The menu offered a good selection and the room was decorated nicely and had a great atmosphere. I would recommend this restaurant however if not staying in the Hotel is slightly remote for just a short visit from any major towns of cities. If visiting the area again I would be happy to revisit The Plough Inn.

At last the antidote to some of the poor service/food we’ve run into on the trip. Hurrah for prompt courteous attention, beautiful, tender hot roast beef generously slabbed onto fresh crusty rolls with a couple of sides, both obviously home made: spicy roasters and coleslaw. All excellent. Will make a point of returning here. Thanks

What a lovely, warm and welcoming place to stay and dine in. We found a great deal for a two night stay with Breakfast and Dinner on the first night and as we love the area decided to take it up. What a lovely place to eat! Good accessibility, disabled toilet, I’m a manual wheelchair user and it was great for me. A fabulous 3 course meal for myself and the wife on Valentine’s Day, exceptional food! I had the pâté for starter, steak for main, and clementine and ginger sponge trifle for desert! Stunning! Couldn’t have been better, will be going again! Cosy atmosphere, good waiter service, what more can you ask for?! Thank you to The Plough, Rhosmaen, faultless! :-)

I went here for my evening meal whilst I was working in Wales. The food was home cooked and really nice. The thing that made the difference for me was the gentleman who looked after me while I was there. It was greatly appreciated, especially when dining alone all week. Thank you!

If you like a nice beef steak then look no further! The chef buys his meat from a small Swansea butcher and it’s both great quality and well cooked at an amazingly low price! It’s a pub as well as a restaurant so whether you are looking to eat or just have a beer, it’s great! The only downside is that Doombar is the only ale they keep, you would expect a local welsh beer.

We recently booked and visited this establishment for a Sunday roast / 93rd birthday party, (not me by the way!) as we were staying locally for the weekend. Well what can I say!!, as soon as I arrived, the outside looked like someone’s house in this tiny, yet beautiful village, however once over the threshold it became apparent how large and beautiful the inside of this pub was, even Doctor Who would’ve been impressed with this tardis! I and another family member were greeted by a warm and friendly faced landlady, and she was a lady! Asked where we were from and made us feel incredibly welcome, then she let herself down by undercharging us for our pints £4.50 each!! At home in Wiltshire I pay £6.50 for the very same pint. We were shown to our own large table (11 people), set on our own. This restaurant was impeccable. The food was perfect with some difficult family members dietary requirements, even the chef came to the table which turned out to be the landlord, what a nice guy he was too. This place was so good, I felt only obliged to buy the landlord and landlady a drink to say thank you for looking after us. After giving the 93-year-old the bumps to celebrate, we left happy and fulfilled. Thank you guys!
