Visited here a couple of weeks back as I fancied a stroll and a pint/food whilst out. I'm saddened that this visit was tarred by such bad service from the bar staff. One thing I dislike is when the bar staff don't take into consideration who is next in line to be served.... unfortunately if you're not a 'regular' you get ignored waiting at the bar whilst the bar staff proceed to pour drinks for them first because they know what they're drinking and take their money, whilst no words are ever spoken. If you're not a 'regular' and have to order the traditional verbal way....good luck. You'll be waiting a very long time. That's if you do ever get noticed/served!! Really disappointing as I have been coming here for years with my family or occasionally solo....this has really infuriated me to the point of not wanting to return. But let's face it....they won't care because I'm not a 'regular' 😒

We came from London for a family funeral and someone recommended The Plough. An interesting pub with history which was rather empty with few diners but it was a Wednesday night. The pub was warm and welcoming and nicely decorated. We ordered quick easy meals as we were all very hungry. Scampi and chips twice and omelette and chips. It took some time for our meals to come but 2 plates of dark brown overcooked scamp and 3 portions of burnt bitter tasting chips finally came out of the kitchen. Pete and Carla, how did that get out of the kitchen?

Went for some Sunday dinner in the summer heat. The staff were very friendly making sure we were all good and checking on food etc. The portions of food were above average. The food was good ‘pub grub’. The only down side was the pub and toilets were dirty and it felt like it had had a big Saturday night. I ate gammon and the meat was thick so can’t complain

We (12 of us)visited here on high recommendation. We were booked in at 5 pm for sunday lunch. All be it the Sunday lunch was nice I was a bit put out that the veggie of our group only had veg and potatoes, same as everyone else and wasn't given an option to have a meat alternative even though we had to pay the same price. After our dinner we all wanted dessert but we're refused because the kitchen had closed. I think we should of been asked if we were planning on having dessert whilst ordering our main meal.

It's nice to visit a pub where, as an outsider you are treated like a local and regular. From the friendly welcome behind the bar to the excellent service from the kitchen, nothing was too much trouble. We both decided to try the 'Ultimate Burger' from their regular menu. Service was quick and there was a plate full of food! The half pound burger is topped with cheese, bacon and an egg. Served with wedges (chips are also available) and a ramekin of homemade coleslaw, it certainly filled us up. If there was any criticism, the wedges were over oily and the bun a little on the soft side to hold all that gooey loveliness of the burger and its topping making it tricky to get hold of. Perhaps a brioche roll might have been more substantial, but I'm being picky. Sticky toffee pudding and ice cream topped off the night perfectly. Added to a comprehensive selection of local real ales and lots of nookie places to sit, alongside various daily offers makes The Plough somewhere we'd definitely come back to in the future.

The Plough is one of the friendliest pubs and eating houses I have been to. It is situated in a small Staffordshire village near Stoke on Trent. On entering, you are immediately impressed with the warm, welcoming and clean surroundings that greet you when one arrives. An excellent choice of real ales lagers and wines are available but the real pièce de résistance is the excellent food provided by the owner and her partner which is truly "Home Made" They are famed for their selection of home made pies of various types ....about six on the menu and the "Special" pie of the day when we visited was bacon, egg and sausage pie.....interesting...:) My wife and I had the fish pie which was delicious...White fish, shrimps, smoked haddock all in a creamy sauce and mashed potatoes...Home made chips and a large boat of gravy for each customer. Well cooked vegetables and all piping hot and a generous portion. I am a committed "Remainder" to their patronage! I suggested a lamb and mint pie to the owner which was received with enthusiasm so we may see that in future... don't miss this Gem

Recently the plough has had a lot of money, time and skill spent on it and if you knew the old pub you would be amazed. We recently picked up their Groupon meal deal where 4 of us could eat from their pie menu with a pint of beer or glass of wine for £23 for 4 people. The pie menu has around 7 or 8 different home made pies and vegetables with great chips we actually purchased a desert after the main mealThe whole meal was too much for me as I don't eat big portions now, but really nice food, The pub has a reputation for good beer so that and the wine the ladies chose was very pleasant,We will be going again paying full price as the menu is well priced, Paper clothes on the table would be welcome,

What a change to go to a place where they trust you to pay rather than take your card! I went with my family early Sunday evening needing to eat and having my dog with me. When we asked if this was OK the staff were very helpful and found us a dag friendly table without fuss. The food was very good value for money - the only thing which we would give a negative mark for was that there wasn't a choice of roast meat on the menu - but as this was almost at the time when they stopped serving it this wasn't surprising - note, turn up earlier. I feel that this will become a regular haunt when I visit my daughter in Newcastle

I have visited the Plough on a couple of occasions and I would just like to say what a fantastic job the new Landlord and Landlady are doing. There is such a friendly, laid-back atmosphere and I really enjoy feeling like I am part of the local community when I am in there. The meals are home-cooked and reasonably priced, and nearly every item on the menu has a vegetarian alternative... far better then the usual cheese pie! The best thing about this pub is that it is 100% family friendly and dog friendly. I love taking my dog for a walk around the village and then stopping off for a cheeky pint. I also enjoy our family outings where myself, wife, two young children and one excitable dog get to spend the day watching football, playing board games and having a bite to eat. It is very rare to find a pub which loves dogs as much as you do. It is also very rare to find a pub where all the staff take the time to talk to your children and make them feel comfortable. All and all a once terrible pub has really been turned around and the Plough is now back to how it once was.

We meet regularly in The Sneyd Arms & decided to dine there in December. We were a group of 8 & were extremely well looked after by Stacey. We had ordered from both the Christmas & the ordinary menu and we were all pleased with our meals. Some pets will also have enjoyed their meal as there was plenty of turkey & some of it made its way into doggie bags. The atmosphere was pleasant, it wasn't too crowded & as we were a large group we created our own party spirit!
