The Plough is everything you could wish for in a country pub. Beautifully kept beer, cosy interior, always a warm welcome, good food and an absolutely stunning beer garden. The place is clearly loved by everyone in the community and with good reason. As a newcomer to the village I really appreciated the warm welcome. Highly recommended!

This fantastic pub has become a bit of a regular Monday venue for us over the last few months & we always enjoy our visits. Normally we turn up a little later & just have a couple of drinks but yesterday we decided to go for lunch and as always, it was excellent. My wife had the lasagna, whilst I had the double cheeseburger with curly fries. Both were excellent & really filling. Add to that 2 x Bass , 2 x gin & tonics and still under £40, it’s a winner. As always the staff were friendly & welcoming

37 years ago...I ran this fantastic pub! Kath and Keith owned it for a long time. .Don't tell me about quaint! We had a log fire/ good beer/ and customers coming out of the rafters! No food needed apart from Ham/cheese rolls. The ORIGINAL and BEST EVER traditional village pub.Every night was heaving due to ambience/good beer/ great clientele and charming Management and Bar staff. No electronic tills..mental arithmetic over 35.00 per round ( Huge amount then) Those days are to treasured and never to be forgotten...you guys have no idea what you are commenting on..Nice to hear Mick is still there tho!

Been meaning to come back here as it’s a short drive away but unfortunately won’t be. Sat outside for lunch - at first glance all looked lovely. After a closer inspection it was clear the tables had t been cleaned at all that day. It’s a very dog friendly pub which is great but there was dog foul near us so I went in and politely asked if someone could move it before our food came thinking they would be unaware and it was from a previous customer’s dog - a lady came out (landlady?) announcing it was probably her dog and, rather than taking it away, flicked it into the shrubbery (a few inches away from where it was originally) but thought that was acceptable! Our food order came out incorrect (not the fault of the person who ordered) but no apology from the staff member about it being incorrect, she just rolled her eyes and sighed like she was doing us a massive favour! Basic customer service was all it needed. Such a shame as this place has so much potential but was ruined by the attitudes of the two members of staff we came across and basic hygiene standards. I wished we could say it was perhaps an ‘off’ day but doubt it very much.

Previously my wife & I had only popped in the plough for a drink & nose around, so yesterday we decided to go for lunch. 2 mains, 2 pints of Cider & 2 pints of Bass & all for £37 , amazing. Both of our meals were cooked from scratch & were delicious. The staff are friendly & the outside seating area is comfortable & really well maintained. This was only our second visit but we’ll definitely be returning

We arrived at midday, it was sunny outside so sat at a table with my toddler. I presume the landlady came out and wanted to move us to a different tavel when they all seemed to be the same size. We ordered food at the bar and for some reason they'd missed the order as an hour later it hadn't arrived. It wasn't hugely busy. We chased it up and didn't get any response. 10 minutes later the food arrived and our order was almost shouted at us. There are no highchairs for babies/toddlers which I find odd in this day and age. There is a baby change though. The food instead was nice enough and value for money. Part of the order was missed off but when mentioned was quickly rectified. Would I go again? Sadly no, they say first impressions count and I'm afraid I won't be returning

We called at The Plough today during an enjoyable hike in the spring sunshine. The female Bar Person greeted our entrance by saying to her colleague and in front of customers, "We'll have to have a sign saying, 'No masks allowed in here'." Up to that point, we were having a lovely day. For what is supposed to be the 'hospitality trade' and at a time when Covid is still prevalent, I considered the remark to be unacceptable. Such a snide, crass remark was unprofessional, unwarranted and distressful.

Was in two minds whether to tell you about this place or not. It’s one of my favourite haunts. A great pint in a great location and such a lovely atmosphere. Sit outside amongst the beautiful flowers in little private areas. Spend a few hours putting the world to rights in quiet homely surroundings. Inside is pleasant and olde worldly with a pool table if that takes your fancy. The bar staff are very friendly and easy to strike up a conversation with. The food is tasty and served quite quickly but whose bothered when you’re having a nice time. Parking is on the road but there’s no shortage. Definitely an asset to the quaint village which is well worth a walk around.

We have been here many times in the summer for a drink and sat out in the very nice garden. We decided the other day to have some lunch here, we ordered a couple of panini and some chips. What actually arrived wasn't what we ordered at all with both the fillings in the panini being wrong. The lady did offer to change them when she brought as she had realised the order wasn't correct on one. However we chose to accept it as we didn't want to waste it or wait any longer. What we didn't realise was the other panini was also wrong and only found once once we started eating it, by which time we gave up and carried on eating. I think she was having a bad day. I don't think this is typical and what we did have was actually quite nice but it wasn't what we ordered or wanted. Hence the 3 stars otherwise it would have been 4

I love The Plough, the family that run it and the regulars are so welcoming and friendly it's a really amazing find. It's spotless, beautifully decorated (especially the Christmas decorations, either someone there has a natural talent or they've worked very hard at creating a beautiful festive feel without going over the top), the cellar is run very well, I've never heard of any ales 'being off' or out of stock. The music selection is incredible and bespoke to suit it's customers, plus live football. The welcome you receive is so so warm and genuine it's quite remarkable. I almost didn't leave a review because it's so precious I don't want all and sundry to know about it! I met Ruby the pup tonight and she was such a good girl, I'm not dog mad but she was an exception to the rule. I honestly could not think of one bad thing to say about this pub, I just can't wait 'til summer so we can sit outside with the exceptionally beautiful plants & garden which are maintained immaculately even in winter. The family who run The Plough and the locals are fantastic, it's one on it's own; one in a million; the young blonde lady behind the bar is also exceptionally friendly and welcoming and as a team they seem very happy indeed - nothing is too much trouble for them. Congratulations on your wedding anniversary! 'Looking forward to the Christmas quiz. A big thank you from Beth and Rob (Motormouth and Mr Placidity incarnate!).

The food isn't gastro pub, but it's honest, filling and very reasonable on the wallet. The food is pub grub done well, without using the tired expression of locally sourced. The only thing local about it is the locals drinking and eating in it. Quite refreshing really. The staff are extremely friendly and make you feel very welcome and accommodate for all ages, with a children's menu for the smaller customer. A choice of hand pulled ales are also on offer, as well as the usual drinks choices. The coffee, for those that want it after their meal, is filtered. If you ask for a cappuccino, you won't get it. Don't moan, it's ok. I will almost certainly be heading back and recommending The Plough to friends. The Plough, it's not gastro, its traditional and I like that.

It's no surprise that I maybe somewhat biased about our local. A beautiful beer garden, beers are well kept, with a good range of local and popular ales & lagers and friendly, welcoming staff. They've always served generous pub grub, in particular their baguettes are very popular, (our favourite is local Stilton and chunks of home cooked ham... yum!) Now, they've surpassed themselves. Saturday afternoon into the early evening now got better with the addition of their gourmet burgers. There's a good choice including quality beef, pork & chorizo etc.. Served in a brioche bun with a choice of toppings, onion rings and fries. Absolutely delicious and only £6.95. I'm just hoping they continue to offer them post Summer alongside their regular menu.

We heard a lot of good things about the plough. It is apparently the best pub in East Midlands because it offers a legendary Sunday pub lunch. But it doesn't actually serve Sunday lunch, the waitress was 100% certain they never ever served Sunday lunch in that country pub. The choices were burgers and baguettes with typical fillings. We settled for burgers, which turned out to be worse than anything I have ever had in an English country pub. I had lamb and mint burger that was super salty. Perhaps it is meant to accommodate to customers who are tipsy or drunk by the time food arrives. I wasn't drinking so I couldn't appreciate their food. I even tasted raisins in my lamb and mint burger. Anyway, it was just not to my taste. The selection of lager and ale was nothing exciting. The only thing I ejoyed was the good atmosphere and the brilliant weather. I am unlikely to revisit this pub.

Ivd been living in the area of this pub for some time now and both myself and my girlfriend attend on a regular basis as we enjoy the great atmosphere and good food that the place offers.Recently we took my parents out for a pub lunch after they had done us some particularly good favours and this has prompted me to now write a review. The folks enjoyed and and want to return soon and after some dog sitting duties of late I dare say it'll happen. Great food, good selection of drinks and good staff make this place a great pub for a lunch time stop off. Sadly we will soon be moving to a new area but if I could pick this pub up and take it with us I would. Amazing.

You simply have no reason to go anywhere else- it's that good. Excellent lunches, moorish beers, friendly staff and beautiful sitting areas inside and out. Almost turns you into an alcoholic it's that good.

We didn't eat there, but did sit outside and enjoy an excellent pint. A lovely pub, we wish it was our local.

The Plough is a lovely pub, really popular with locals but without the feeling that you can only cross the threshold if you are one! We've been a few times, most recently for lunch on a Friday. We both had homemade steak and ale pie with chips and mushy peas, whcih were really delicious. The outside area has loads of comfy seats and the inside is traditional and cosy. Teh pub currently doesn't do evening food although I think they have just started selling burgers on Saurday evenings.Well worth a visit.

Thought we'd go for Sunday lunch. Nice country pub. Good outdoor seating area. But the food was dreadful. Processed curly 'chips', awful baguette filled with 'Sunday joint', salad was a few lecture leaf, a quarter of a small tomato and three slices of cucumber. No, I wouldn't recommend it.

Been here many times. Owners been here for years, and it is still as good as it ever was. Lovely outside seating area, always popular but attracts nice people. Good range of beers too.

The Plough is a traditional, english country pub located just outside of Nottingham in the East Midlands. Stocking a wide variety of well kept beers, lagers, wines and spirits, The Plough offers food at lunchtimes which is delicious, home-made and great value for money.Owned and managed by Mick and Pearl, there's always a great atmosphere and a reason for "just one more"..(OK, thats possibly just me ;-)

Friday we went with two other friends for a meal at lunchtime they had been before and thought we would like this pub. It is an attractive 17 century beamed village local popular with the locals. Food was good value off a short but fulfilling menu. We were greeted by the staff and we found a table and ordered some drinks, there was a good selection of beers from Bass, Green King, Abbot and several more. Outside there was a pretty terrace with flower tubs and baskets nice on a warm day. We ordered our meals which did not take long to come as the staff were very busy with a lot of people having meals, all the meals were well presented and piping hot well done to the cooking staff under pressure. The pub has a excellent feel about it and makes you feel you would visit again. Full marks to everybody, will visit again.

This is a small village pub loved by locals and frequented regularly by those who live further away. The interior is traditionally tasteful and has recently been refurbished. The small garden is a delightful place to spend a summer evening as the hanging baskets and planters are second to none.Food is served lunchtimes ONLY and ranges from delicious homemade main , and a great variety of baguettes and suchlike. Portion sizes are good, service attentive and prices reasonable. The log fire in the lounge is a major plus, as is the lack of background music, only a gentle hum of voices as people chat and enjoy each others' company. The steps up to the pub could cause some people difficulty if they have mobility problems as they are equal in height as a flight of stairs.

Nice greeting from bar staff. Pleasant surroundings. Very busy but food came quite quickly. The cheeseburger was vile, soggy poor quality roll, nasty dry thin meatless burger topped with 2 squares of orange processed cheese. Chips greasy. Couldn't eat it.

This is a place where you can drink real beer after enjoying the countryside. The staff served us a good meal with good humour in spite of being really busy. I will have to return as soon as possible

Great food, my husband and daughter love the homemade steak pie, loads of meat unlike some other places!! I like the scampi with salad, chips and mushy peas. They also serve the usual fish and chips, baguettes, omelettes, salads, jacket potatoes etc. There's a large car park across the road and a lovely outside seating area with rattan furniture so great on a sunny day.

Food was good however the customer service let the evening down a lot. The food order was taken wrong, understandable. We were charged for the more expensive one, unsure of the difference, I asked about this that was met with the manager being rude and giving us the 50p difference. Not a singular apology, especially with one of our meals arriving when the others were about finished. Ordering deserts was met with more rudeness from her and the whole interactions tainted our evening. After a few times of visiting here we won’t be back as would feel uncomfortable with her service again.

This place has fallen off; it used to be our go-to for Sunday dinner, but the food has taken a nosedive and needs some TLC. Half of the tiles are off the wall in the toilets. Parking has always been difficult here, but it doesn't help that they now have a food truck occupying four spaces. The only saving grace is that it still has excellent service.
