At 7pm most of the meals on the menu were not available. Had the avocado and mango salad, for which the avocado was unavailable. Salad was the oiliest, most salty salad, with absolutely no taste, chicken, which I ordered asa an extra, was a piece of hard tasteless offering. The worst eating experience of my life. Staff were pleasant but not a nice experience.

Everything was really good, from the dog friendlyness of the pub to the overall quality of the food and cocktails. However, Portion sized on the main (not the fish and chips, but the pasta) could have better. Felt a little like a start or a taster :) Apart from that really good experience.

After hearing good things about the Sunday roast I was really disappointed with our experience. After sitting at our table we waited 15 mins for someone to come over and take our drinks order, this didn't happen so we went to the bar ourselves. We then waited another 30 mins for someone to come over and take our food order (again we had to go over to the bar), when they finally started to take our order they informed us that they had run out of all roasts but they had everything else on the menu apart from steak. After a few mins of looking at the menu again we decided to order, everything we asked for they had also now run out of. At this point with 3 hungry kids to feed we decided to leave and try somewhere else, the waiter (who showed pretty much no interest the whole time) apologised and said he would get the manager over to explain. We saw him walk over to the manger, who then shrugged her shoulders, walked off and never came over to talk to us. I understand sometimes the service won't always be great or they will run out of food but this was 4:30pm on a Sunday and the place was half full. An explanation/apology from the manager would of gone a long way but the fact they couldn't be bothered says it all. We won't be going back.

Came here for Father's Day, hoping for a relatively good pub meal, but boy were we wrong. The service started out alright, but it quickly went downhill, even though they weren't at all busy. They originally brought out one 3 sets of cutlery instead of 4, which we didn't think much of it at the time, however no one came back for over an hour, not even with our food. One of us ordered a starter, however they ended up bringing it with the main meal. Not only this, one of us swapped out a salad for mushy peas, but they ended up swapping the chips out, so had to go up and ask for the chips. The 3 of us who ordered a Sunday dinner were severely disappointed and 2 of us couldn't take more than a few bites before leaving it. Calling what we got chicken is laughable, as it was all bone with next to no meat on it. Furthermore the roasties were literally rock hard, and the single one that wasn't was full of grease. The food was also a little on the cold side. One of us ordered a chicken snitzle (this was the one where they mixed up the salad/chips). The chips that did come were burnt and not tasty at all. The mushy peas were cold. The only thing that was kinda edible was thr chicken itself, and even that was a touch on the cold and burnt side. Lastly where the food is concerned, there were no salt/pepper on the table, when other tables had them. The server didn't give us a chance to ask for any condiments before shooting back off to wherever she was staying hold up. We had to go to the bar to ask for this stuff. Bare in mind that due to the day they were offering table service, which is why we waited to be served. There wasn't any issue with the first round of drinks (except they put ice in the lemonade when we asked for no ice). We didn't get a chance to ask for more drinks until our food arrived (which took over an hour to arrive from ordering), even though we had all finished long before the food arrived. The second round however was an issue. Not only did they bring lemonade with ice again, but they only brought over lager for the shandy one of us ordered. Their excuse was they thought the lemonade was for the shandy, despite the fact it was the exact same order as the first round. Definitely don't come here if you want even an alright time. All that can be said is the manager took off most of the food and 1 round of drinks from the bill.

We visited The Plough this evening for one drink and were charged £15.50 for one pint of Guinness and one alcohol free mocktail. The mocktail was priced at £7 on the menu. When I queried the £15.50 price, I was told the mocktail **without any alcohol** was £9.95. I pointed to the £7 price on the menu but was told that menu was no longer correct. The staff member then said it was expensive in there but they were not responsible for the prices- that is true but the prices charged must reflect the prices on the menu.

We specifically came to eat Sunday lunch As we were shown out seats we were told all the roasts had now sold out ! I can understand this as we were eating late and it’s a special So we ordered from the menu to be told 5 of the starters had also run out The main courses options was also restricted too As a popular pub/ restaurant I can not see why your not sufficiently stocked up on the regular menu items We did get a round of drinks on the house but still very annoying

Service was very slow, from greeting, taking our food order, no upsell on desserts, no kids menu offered. Not advised in advance of items not available. No check back. Food quality not good. Yorkshire puddings were flat, solid and over cooked. Beef was over cooked and gristly, carrots and parsnips were undercooked meaning the skin that had been left on was tough and unpleasant. Kids veggie sausages have a really unpleasant skin in them - at first we thought it was cling film

Based on a very quick visit the main surprise was the cost of the cask ales! In fairness the pub had two cask pumps one with Timothy Taylor Landlord & the other a blonde from a Birmingham brewing Company. The bar has other cask & keg options but apparently in excess of £5 per pint for two cask beers I hate to think what the pub is charging for some of the other drinks.

Had a great time here recently when visiting with family, easy to get to location and good atmosphere. The beer garden is very pleasant and makes for a good little sun trap. Also very kind that dogs are allowed throughout and water is provided. Food is what you’d expect from pub grub and it’s a reasonable price. We didn’t have a burger this time but another couple did and they looked really good. Will happily return soon to try something else on the menu.

Staff rude...got asked to move tables as was "reserved" yet when the next group sat there (who didn't reserve the table) and didn't get moved, we questioned it with the said bar staff. Her response was aggressive and argumentative, she decided the best thing was to have us removed from the premises. So if you want a nice drink make sure you don't question decisions by the staff. I've never been kicked out of anwhere in my life. I'm sorry I have a voice to question decisions that seem questionable!!

I came here on a family occasion and found it to be quite nice. We sat at the back in a more private section if the pub and thankfully the huge television screen was switched off. I don't like televisions in pubs as I believe it just takes away any atmosphere and there were a few in this pub but at least on the day I was there, they weren't intrusive. It may or may not be one of these footie pubs..I'd check before you visit. I enjoyed the hour or so I was there anyway. Nice beers and good service.

At Battle Bonfire last night and I have never experienced such bad service. The waiters were so busy talking to people they knew they didn’t even realise half the pint was spilling over and then continued to serve every person they personally knew the second they arrived at the bar which meant those who didn’t know the bartenders had a 30 minute wait. They didn’t even shake the juices so the juice was transparent.

This was our first return since Covid to the restaurant at the Brickwall Hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary and I am happy to say that it has not lost any of its former excellence. The service was friendly and attentive, there was plenty of choice on the menu and the food was well presented, cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. My wife's Gluten Free diet did not cause any problem as every care was taken to make sure that her food was right for her. The portion sizes were ample and very good value for money. I can certainly recommend.
