Great friendly service, wonderful food at good price. My only gripe is the loos, don't run out of loo paper or hand towels as they're kept in the room outside of the cubicle. I'm disabled so it would have been difficult and awkward for me to mess about like that. There's also no drop down handles either side of the loo so some people may end up having pan accident because they wouldn't be able to 'go'. Plus the loo is very low down which is not good. If you're not disabled I totally recommend this pub restaurant, we'll be going back again. I'll be keeping a Shewee in the car just in case 😊

The worst Sunday roast I have ever had, the beef didn’t look anything like beef (light brown in colour). The Yorkshire pudding tasted like paper, the roast potatoes needed a chisel to cut. Needed steel teeth to eat them. Parsnips were burnt , tasteless. The gravy was the only thing that looked half decent, and guess what NO TASTE. BTW , THINK YOU ARE EXPECTED TO EAT WITN YOUR HANDS, AND WIPE YOUR HANDS ON YOUR CLOTHES. RANT OVER

Went as a party of four for a evening meal. Pub has had a refurbishment relatively recently which has created a light airy atmosphere within. Very busy when we arrived but we were met by a very pleasant female member of the serving staff who was friendly and professional throughout. Menu good and varied. I had the the Angus beef burger which was very tasty, sweet was a chocolate brownie with sauce and ice cream. All four of us enjoyed our meals. Far better quality and quantity that I endured in several so called Gastropubs. Good value in these days of increasing food costs. We will be back again.

Firstly, I am genuinly surprised this pub does not have all 5* ratings, we was a party of 12 and we all had a great meal, I went for the roast beef dinner which was excellent, I want the recipe for the gravy as that was the best I've ever tried in over 50 years of roast dinners ... will definately be going again

We held a celebration to remember my father’s life in The Plough. They reserved part of the pub for us and were very accommodating. Set menu of buffet food was plentiful and tasty. Good selection of beers and spirits including gins. Lovely atmosphere and able to plug a USB into the TV screen to show a screen show of photographs. Would throughly recommend using this place if you are planning a small celebration with family and friends.

We went for a Sunday Roast. The positives were a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and our waitress was fantastic. Sadly this was completely overshadowed by the food. The Calamari is a really poor starter. Any place charging £7 for Calamari should not be serving frozen, pre-battered, out of a packet Calamari. Calamari should be fresh and lightly battered, not really greasy and chewy. What let it down further though was the old fermented pomegranate seeds spread over the top that we’re simply inedible. Having made little fuss and sent it back, I was surprised to hear the chef thought that there was nothing wrong with the pomegranate. How a trained chef can’t distinguish, fermented and past its best pomegranate is beyond me. You only had to look at it to realise it was bad. The roast Beef was acceptable at best, the plate had excess water around the vegetables and the beef only came with the option of well done. By no means top drawer or refined for £16. There are much better options locally. Certainly won’t be going back for Sunday lunch but given how busy it was, I must have just had a bad meal.

Fabulous service - lovely friendly attentive staff! This pub serves a really good selection of decent beers. Halloumi fries shared between 2 over a pint is amazing. We had the moretti battered haddock and chunky chips. I am not usually a lover of chips but these were amazing - cooked to perfection and not dry. My wife had the veggie bad boy burger with skinny fries which were also excellent. The prices are very reasonable and the service was outstanding. The atmosphere in the pub is buzzy and pleasant to be in. The decor is tasteful and full of interesting detail. We will be back!

Our visit was very disappointing and ruined a night out. The starters were whitebait and calamari both had the appearance and taste of being out-of-a-packet. We had ordered a burger and chicken Caesar salad. The service was slow and when our order arrived the burger had half a plate of skinny chips no garnishing at all. My chicken Caesar salad came as a chicken burger. Oh dear. I said what I had ordered and the waitress turned round and took it back to the kitchen. The waitress who had taken the order returned and said my order would be in 10 mins. I was expecting her to remove my wife's meal and redo the whole order. My wife had to eat her meal while I sat there. Not very good. After the ten minutes and still no meal I went to the bar and asked for my meal to be put in a container and I would eat it at home. I offered to pay for the meal and the waitress said they would not charge us for the drinks. One diet coke and a sparkling water, what an insult. Won't be going back there ever again. Staff were friendly is all I can say hence the 1 star.

The Plough is under fantastic new management and has to be on your local “..go to..” list. Chris has passed ownership to his daughter who is doing the cooking’ “Mum’s portions”, with her son Chris managing and running an excellent front of house. His table manner is warm, welcoming and friendly. The pub has under gone an extensive refreshing refit and is bright, airy and inviting inside. We have just dined two evenings in a row after passing by and noticing the new look. Thursday was calamari and prawns pil-pil to start. Excellent. Then chilli and and fish pie. Superb. Tonight calamari to start and share followed by fish and chips and sausage and mash. All freshly cooked and simply excellent and extensive portions. Hence “Mum’s Portions”, as Chris puts it. The food both nights has been fantastic, big portions, piping hot, well served and always presented with a smile. Both nights an excellent Merlot. £50 and £60 for two including a tip. Clare behind the bar is warm and welcoming with nothing being to much trouble. If you are seeking good, wholesome, well cooked and presented British pub food then The Plough ticks every box. We will most certainly be going back. A lot. Highly recommended.

This was our second visit for lunch to the pub. The first was two years ago! We liked it very much on our first visit,so wanted to return and were not disappointed! It is a very dog friendly pub and there were several dogs with owners including our own. The place has a very friendly, local atmosphere and everyone is very welcoming. You can sit in the public area if you bring your dog. There is also a separate restaurant area, not for dogs! None of the previous reviews have talked about the Italian influence in the food and wine at the pub! We had Arancini and Buratta salad as starters. Then a very nice thin crust vegetarian pizza with pesto. We also had the dish of the day, which was a crab linguine. All the dishes were very well prepared and delicious! The linguine was perfectly cooked al dente, and you could taste the crab meat in the linguine, which is not always the case! This was all washed down with a bottle of Montepulciano D'Abruzzo red wine, which went well with the meal! Lovely setting by the Heath and cozy atmosphere inside! Recommended!

Visited this pleasant village pub for lunch on Friday 7th December, 2018. Four of us altogether...3 had the fish and chips and 1 the fish pie. We all enjoyed the food ... it was fresh, well cooked, good big portion sizes...delicious. 2 of us had crumble with custard for dessert...again very good. My Aunt lives in the village and the pub has changed hands a few times over the years. The current family running The Plough were extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. It's been a while since our last visit to The Plough and what a pleasant surprise. It has undergone a makeover and has a fresh look to it, giving the place a real lift. The new chef has produced a wonderful "back to basics" traditional pub menu from locally sourced produce, and at very affordable prices.

I found this pub via the Tastecard website, and I'm really glad I did! It is a cosy little pub, with very friendly and accommodating staff. They were very helpful with taking us through the menu and deciding what to order based on their recommendations. I personally ordered the lamb shank and was not disappointed! For dessert, we couldn't decide what to order, so they actually prepared a platter with a selection of different desserts for us so we could have a taste of everything - a great idea! I would have happily paid full price for this, so with the tastecard discount it made it unbelievably great value! :)

This is my local so I am obviously biased, but the food here is really very good and the Sunday roasts are fantastic - best I've had outside my own kitchen. Last Sunday, I had two slices of perfectly cooked rib of beef with wonderfully crispy roasties and loads of veg for a ridiculously low £8.50. Amazing value. The trio of local sausages is another favourite of mine. It's a proper village pub - unpretentious, friendly and very affordable. I feel so lucky to have it just down the road.

This is very much a locals pub... which they have managed to keep secret from the rest of the world long enough! We are always made to feel very welcome and always visit The Plough, on Hide Heath Common whenever we are in the area. For good, honest, no nonsense food... this is the place! Our family decided they wanted a takeaway from the ‘new place’ in Great Missenden. With that they meant the Fish Bar and Mangal 😃. We can highly recommend if you are looking for friendly and fast service and delicious food prepared right in front of you. We will most certainly go back. Oh and ‘mangal’ means a Middle Eastern barbecue used to grill a variety of succulent meat and roast vegetables. Their decision to combine this with the more traditional fish and chips is really clever! So please give them a try - you will not be disappointed. We tried the chicken shish kebab, wings, spicy lamb skewer and fish and chips. Everything very yummy and decent quantity also.

Cycled past many times looked v nice so decided to pop in for a drink 2 weeks ago. Barmaid v chatty good feel about the place lighting perfect candles on nice background music. You could tell the lady working cared about the business! After this visit we decided to go back last night for a meal. So different no smile or hello when walked in 2 team working just didn’t look happy actually looked like they had fallen out. Sat at table one of them brought menu then we chose a bottle of wine which was nice and came quick. We then sat there 15 mins before getting up and asking if we ordered at the bar or were they coming over.one if them came over and took the order, food came around 30 mins later. The food was ok but pies could have been bigger with more filling. After finishing nobody came and asked if we would like a dessert in the end I had to get up and ask for the bill. We then left feeling v disappointed all round. Such a nice first visit what happened why such a let down. With prices high and pub in a small village out of the way it needs to be good every time not every other for it to survive in this tough environment. Not sure if will come back again 🤔
