The Plant Base in Tunbridge Wells

This is a superb venue with excellent food, reasonable prices and a vibrant atmosphere. The waiter was highly attentive, polite and friendly. If you wish to enjoy real, plant-based cooking, instead of making do with the one or two, poorly thought-out, semi-vegan (not vegan) options found in most pubs - come here. This restaurant caters for those following wholly plant-based and vegetarian diets. It is showing the way forward in my view, with a very good selection on offer. My wife enjoyed a well-prepared mushroom crepe, whilst I had the best buddha bowl I have eaten anywhere. Nobody is going hungry here.

My best friend and I came for Lunch. It took so long to get served. The owner was sat at the table next to us on his laptop, eating and it just felt a bit awkward. The price was very high for what you get.. A shame really because we want to support vegetarian establishments doing their part for the planet but

We had a really nice brunch / lunch in here one Saturday. We'd had a really annoying / stressful shopping trip but our visit to Haven soothed us very nicely. My partner had a cooked breakfast and I had a burger. We're both vegan and my partner is coeliac and they were able to cater for us without any bother - in fact there were loads of options. We'll definitely go back.

Came here for dinner with a range of vegan/veggies/ strong meat eaters, and everyone really enjoyed all the small plates tried. Special shout out to the cauliflower, bao buns, tofu satay and mac and cheese. A really pleasant eating experiencing with lots of choices (mostly vegan!), good portion sizes (tapas), and nice cocktails too! All the staff we spoke to were also very helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend!

absolutely delicious food, but very disappointed that they have decided not to take cash payments. This is something I cannot support, and didn't know until I went to pay (maybe put some signs up or on social media?) . I would strongly urge this business to reconsider, it's a very alienating, shortsighted policy and not helpful to anyone, and should not be normalised. It's a real shame, as I know many people that would not support this business, for this reason.

We popped in on the off chance we could grab some dinner and was really really pleased we did so. It’s an intimate little restaurant and quite cosy, with good spacious seating and comfortable chairs. The current evening menu is limited to Tapas style and delicately constructed small plates, of which there is ample to choose from, and that suits our taste perfectly. We chose a light bite Kale starter followed by four Tapas dishes. The crispy mushrooms, Halloumi fries, Beetroot Hummus and their fully loaded green salad. Every one of those dishes were spectacularly good. Hot, crispy fresh and delicious. All cooked with care. I followed with a Croissant bread pudding, as a treat, and it was light and subtly spiced with all the good with a large dollop of thick cream on top, which literally topped a brilliant meal. The staff were friendly and approachable and more importantly seemed genuinely happy and chatty. (I was even convinced by them to try the Tofu dish, which was annoyingly good too ! I normally can’t abide the stuff….). The selection of Red Wines suited my palette, as it is, I’m no expert but I know what I like, and their other drinks looked good too. To summerise, it’s a great little restaurant that’ll make you feel a better person for having eaten there. You won’t feel like you’ve eaten unhealthily and the prices for these fantastic dishes won’t bruise your wallet either. Go. Don't tell everyone. Keep it our little secret !

This used to be a cafe called Plantbase apparently but now a comfy restaurant in new premises. Went for a birthday supper and tried lots of the small dishes. We liked all of them but the Halloumi fries, loaded falafels and Korean cauliflower were outstanding! The Pinktini cocktail was a hit, great wine & beer too. Even the vegan ice cream was lovely. Will definitely return, very reasonably priced and staff were thoughtful and friendly. None of us are vegan or veggie just great food.

What a great spot! SO friendly, and the food was seriously delicious! We shared small plates- all vegan. Amazing Korean Cauliflower, Tofu skewers with satay sauce, Spring onion pancakes w’ teriyaki, Yummy felafel and Broccoli with chilis. Added two drinks and it was still under £50. Absolutely delicious! We had a a selection of plates and each one was distinct, tasted divine and complimented the others perfectly. Deep fried cauliflower coated in sweet sticky goodness was a particular highlight but there were no let downs at all. Thoroughly recommended.

I've been thinking about giving this restaurant a try for what it seems like forever and never did. I'm so sorry I didn't go sooner! We went to Haven for Sunday brunch and it was perfect. As a vegetarian, it is so incredibly nice to look at a menu and not be sure what to choose - because you have so many options! We chose both food and smoothies in the end. The food was delicious, the drinks even more so, and the waiter (who seemed to be alone, looking after both the downstairs and the upstairs) was really fast, polite, friendly, and attentive. I can't wait to go again!

We had a lovely time at Haven. I had been recommended to go by a friend, and particularly to choose the Buddha bowl, and it didn't disappoint! The food was lovely, some unusual vegetarian dishes and lots of gluten free options too. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Being newly vegan myself I was surprised when my mother chose here to have her birthday lunch. Needless to say she wasn't disappointed.. we thoroughly enjoyed the main bowls and then really enjoyed the lime torte and banana bread for pudding.. if you're travelling in this area then the restaurant is really worth a visit.. we will return!

We were looking for a vegetarian restaurant and to our surprise stumbled on The Plant Base.

As a flexitarian I have an open mind to all types of food, including vegan. What matters to me is flavour , flavour, oh and flavour. They certainly deliver it here. I had the mushrooms on toast with a gorgeous spinach pesto and a red smoothie, Yum. My 2 companions had different salad bowls which were equally well received. Great ambience, friendly staff and reasonably priced. We'll be back.

Vegan restaurants in Tunbridge Wells aren't exactly ten-a-penny. The passing trade from the vaping shop opposite or the hair salons next door aren't likely to be impressed by the promise of dairy-free, gluten-free food. The interior is compact and it seemed particularly busy at a Saturday lunchtime. The decor is all about reclaimed wood. The menu is simple and there are specials on a blackboard. The salad bowls we chose weren't cheap at £8.50 each and were tasty enough. We tried an over-priced bottle (£3.60) of ginger-flavoured Kambucha and weren't impressed. We also succumbed to the offer of a 'proper chocolate brownie' and a slice of banana and toffee torte, at £6 each. Both of these exemplified the difficulty of doing pastry without using dairy products. Service was friendly. We'd return for the salads but not for the sweets.

As a family who have dietary requirements we often struggle to eat out. This little gem is a wonderful find. The hot chocolate is one of the best I have ever tasted. My daughter had Porridge for lunch which she loved. The staff were attentive. Definitely recommend.

My fiancé and I went for lunch here a couple of days ago. It’s a simple menu with additional specials. I liked the fact you could pick your base, topping and sauce for the salad bowls. These were delicious. We really enjoyed the chocolate and orange torte and chocolate chia pudding too!

My husband & I have been eating a plant based diet for the last 4 months and have struggled to find somewhere that offers a menu all plant based including great deserts, this cafe was perfect. My mother and I went for a late lunch here. I am vegetarian trying to transition to a plant-based diet, and my mother is a meat-eater but loves veggies. We were both very impressed! I had a lunch bowl (mixed grains, sweet potato & hummus) and my mother had the soup special. Both our meals were just the right size and well priced for what it was. Although the menu is somewhat limited they regularly change soups and specials. For dessert I had a chocolate, orange & chia seed tart (vegan, obviously) and a beetroot latte - all extremely nice and unique to the area. Service was very friendly and efficient. Cannot recommend this place highly enough! Wish there were more places like this in Kent.

There are health food restaurants and there are great health food restaurants - Plant Base is a stunning health food restaurant. It's unassuming and pleasingky minimalist decor give little clue to the culinary delights in store. Exquisite salads, stunning soups and super smoothies make this a must for anyone who wants to eat food that nourishes the body as well as tempting the palate. The staff are friendly and passionate about their mission to bring great tasting vegetarian food to the masses. This is simply the best food you'll eat in this sleepy little town. True soul food. Gorgeous.

As a dyed in the wool omnivore who will kill for the table you may expect a Veggie/Vegan cafe to be the last place on my itinerary. However, I have the immense pleasure of the constant comapany of a lifelong member of the "Green Brigade"- veganisms millitant wing who made the suggestion that we go.

This small cafe in Tunbridge Wells is well worth a visit for b,fast brunch or lunch ,my g,son had beautiful porridge and I had a great salad the menu is amazing all vegan and very tasty .the cheese cake too was excellent ,the coffee a little weak for my liking but each to his own !
