The cafe is a great little hidden gem. Fantastic coffee, delicious cakes, a very nice owner and a beautiful selection of succulent plants and cacti, all very reasonably priced. Some of the plants are locally grown. I highly recommend trying out the independent cafe!

Superb food, nicely presented and evenly priced. A large range of vegan foods and drinks which are ALL gorgeous! Highly recommended!

The Plant side Cafe roast dinner delivery was amazing, from ordering to enjoying the delicious meal. They were able to answer my questions promptly, the payment was no hassle and delivery arrangements gave us plenty of time to plan our day and be ready for our lovely roast. I'm vegan and my partner isn't and we both really enjoyed the seitan beef roast dinne. Although it was a perfect size portion, we both wanted more. I have visited The Plant Side Cafe ones before (in between lockdowns). I found the Cafe to be lovely, clean, with friendly and welcoming staff. I am really looking forward to coming back and enjoying their delicious food again. Thank you!

Went in for cake and coffee with my wife. Coffees were good, but the cakes were great (blueberry muffin and peanut butter cake). Total cost £8.20, which was fair. We also saw a couple having lunch and they told us their (hot) lunch was very tasty. The cafe is opposite the library.

Small friendly cafe , with delicious vegan food . I had the nut burger with homemade cheese and served with lovely side salads. Portions are generous- a great lunch stop!

Came in for lunch one rainy day with my family. Menu was limited and no children's menu. It was cold inside and I felt the place was cold and uncosy. We walked in not sure what to do.. no menus on tables and no direction on what to do.no welcome hello until my husband went to the till. Free water point which nice to see. The food was amazing we shared a sausage roll while I waited on a burger and my husband had the curry.. both beautiful. My children had cake the chocolate was a little dry where my daughter smashed her lemon and raspberry cake. This place could do with little extras. Menus on table with a please order at the till sign. A few cushions to make it more welcoming. A Child friendly menu.. sweet potatoe fries etc would be epic.. a must go for food! Fully support the vegan movement!!

I was looking for somewhere different for lunch and as a recent vegan convert was pleased to find this place on TripAdvisor It was quiet when I arrived at 12:30 but by 1 o'clock all the tables were full - obviously a popular place. The menus is small and it all sounds amazing. I had the Earth burger which was really tasty. No room for a slice of cake but they look so good. Will be back next time I'm in the area

I had one of their ‘not sausage rolls’ to takeaway which was warm and delicious, it was like a mini nut roast! I will definitely be back again - I’d much rather support a local independent for all my vegan sausage roll needs instead of Gregs or Warrens. Everything is available for takeaway so I’ll be making use of that! Many people seem to suggest using the public toilets opposite due to the lack of on-site toilets. Personally I would recommend using the ones in the M&S round the corner as these are likely to be more pleasant.

We popped in one lunchtime as we are both vegetarian and could see it is a good place, from the reviews on Tripadvisor. We each ordered their special of Nacho bowl with salads and homemade vegan cheese. It was delicious. We had tea with oatmeal milk which was certainly interesting, as the milk gives it quite a different flavour. Nice friendly staff and pretty decent value for money overall.

Nice place to eat with good gluten free options. My main complaint is the lack of toilet facilities and limited variation on the menu. However, food I have eaten here has been superb.

We came here for lunch after searching for a place with good vegan food. The service was quick and friendly and the food was amazing. The burgers were extremely tasty and the cake was even better! Would recommend.

Every time I am in Taunton on my own I always make sure I come to the Planet for lunch. The Earth burger is delicious and I love the range of salads that come with it. I’ve never tried anything else on the menu as I always have the earth burger! The oat milk hot chocolate is lovely and frothy and there is always a good selection of delicious vegan homemade cakes. I am so glad I found this place and hope it stays open for years to come - well done team, keep up the great work!

Popped in here for a quick lunch on an all-too-rushed journey from Devon to the Midlands. A limited menu but very friendly staff, speedly service, good value and delicious healthy food. I had the Earth (mushroom, lentil and something else) burger and my husband had the spinach and pesto pasta. Both very satisfied with our choices and back to the car in less than an hour. Would definitely recommend!

Me and my husband have eaten here a number of times and always been very impressed. The food is lovely and the staff are very accommodating to our specific dietary requests (wheat and yeast free). It is such a gem to find a vegan only restaurant, and a fantastic one at that! Vegan or not,you should pay this place a visit, you won't be dissapointed!

We found this lovely cafe from an internet search, it’s just opposite the library in the town centre.

In need of a filling lunch? Then this is the place to come! Opted for an earth & planet burger to take away, along with 2 cupcakes. Despite it being busy for a Saturday lunchtime I wasn't kept waiting long, plus an ever so helpful member of staff even helped me with the door as I had my hands full. I had the planet burger with today's salad which was totally delicious!!! As for the red velvet cupcake - wow! So very yummy! A truly gem of a place for Taunton. One very happy customer.

Lunch on Saturday, restaurant already quite full which was great to see. I ordered the pasta and husband ordered a chickpea burger. Mine was delicious and as hubby's plate was clean and he had vocalised its tastiness, I have to give both meals 5/5. The salads are particularly tasty; all fresh, imaginative and creative. For me, vegetarian, almost vegan, it is fantastic having such a choice. All served with a smile. Oh, and my husband has a nut allergy and this was taken care of without a fuss. All round, a very very good experience and I shall be returning.

Wow this place is just amazing. Lovely fresh veggies, vegan friendly, just perfect. Don’t change a bit.

The food is all freshly prepared and tastes gorgeous. I had the chickpea burger (it does come in a bap, I just have an intollorence to yeast) with a chai tea, followed with a piece of peanut butter and chocolate cake. It was all delicious. Friendly staff too.

I love this cafe, the food is all delicious. Everything is reasonably priced without compromising the quality. The sausage roll is absolutely the tastiest thing I've ever eaten! The staff are all lovely and friendly. They and their establishment are a great advert for veganism.

The planet is one of my go to places to eat in Taunton. Very relaxing place to sit and eat..staff are friendly.. the vegan meals are lovely. I wish there was more of a selection of salads as they are a bit bland - but still nice. Would be good if they did fresh smoothies and juices too, it would really add to it, I think. The cakes are out of this world!!!

I arrived too late in the day to try the Planet burger or not-sausage rolls (the lunch rush had already been and eaten all of them!), so went for a chickpea burger and a piece of walnut and banana loaf - both were super tasty! Staff seemed lovely too. Would visit again!

My meal arrived lukewarm, and when I asked for it to be reheated it was eventually returned slightly hotter. I then asked where the toilet was, and was told that there is no toilet, and directed across the road to the car park. Surely all eating establishments are required to have toilets? I would certainly never return here.

Lovely little vegan cafe with freshly made food including salads, pasta and rice dishes, burgers etc. Plant milks for hot drinks, and a selection of cold drinks. Nice atmosphere and quite busy with nearly all tables taken when we were there. There isn't a loo, but there are public conveniences literally two minutes walk away which wasn't a biggie for us. Very delicious and healthy tofu in peanut sauce, followed by a not so healthy but equally delicious vegan cake. Nice little find, and will go back next time we are passing Taunton.

Even if you're not a vegan (like me) you must try The Planet; their food is incredible, as are their hot drinks. Never disappointed.

Waited 25 minutes for food to arrive and after politely asking how long it would be, I was told in a sharp tone that all their food is made from fresh ingredients and they don't microwave heat it. Even so, on a lunch time they need to speed it up a bit and not be passive aggressive to customers like a scene from Fawlty Towers. Ate half my food in 5 minutes I had left. So for me, slow food meant fast eating with no time to enjoy it.

We came here to try it out and were really surprised at how yummy it was. I wanted to give it 5 stars, but one thing stopped me: There’s no toilet! I had to go to M&S; to pee.

Cycled from Bridgewater to Taunton and found this great little vegan cafe. Catered perfectly for a vegan GF diet. Had a burger that was super tasty and a GF banana and choc cake. Staff were great....

We googled Vegan restaurants as happened to be in Taunton and was excited to try a new place that solely caters for Vegans, very disappointed, no toilets, husband was told to use the public toilets across the street which were dirty & smelt disgusting, no one said hello when we walked in, no menus on the table so went up to the counter to see what food they do, Pasta dish, Salad bowl or Burgers, only to be told no pasta just burgers on the menu, salad options looked poor so we just left as neither of us fancied a burger, very poor service & lack of choice, we went to ZiZi’s instead, Vegan menu & excellent fast service, toilets on site & scummy food!

I love this cafe, I visit as often as I can and take my family and friends. The vegan food is fresh and delicious and the staff are welcoming and friendly. I have had pretty much everything off the menu now and love all of the food! I am so glad there is a vegan cafe like this in Taunton, it is my favourite place to be.

Just moved to Taunton and googled best vegan places. OMG this place is AMAZING! All Vegan, all delicious and really sweet staff. The cakes are to die for.

Probably like more and more people nowadays, I'm not vegan but am eating meat rarely and actively seeking out meat free alternatives, so I was looking forward to eating here. The cafe decor is simple and unfussy. The menu has less choices than your usual cafe, but this is a good thing as quality always triumphs over quantity. Although, they break the rule with their famous burger meals with both quality and quantity in spades! The food was delicious, you can tell its homemade and they care about what they are putting on the plate. Oh, and the cakes are excellent too. I work near this cafe and have seen it change hands many times. I do hope this one goes the distance as it offers something which no other regular cafe in the area does.

Delicious vegan food, very friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, what could you want more? Hot food is very tasty, I was mind blown by the Sunflower "cheese" pasta, and the walnut and coffee cake, is very indulgent, it is unbelievable that is 100%plant based. And the chai latte, very indulgent, on of the best I had. Must go place, vegan or not. You might consider going vegan after first visit!

I always love coming here & supporting the cafe, the cake is always so fresh & moist and the burgers leave me satisfied. I would like to see the menu widened as it's limited to salad, pasta & burgers at the moment, maybe soups, curries & wraps?

It’s so lovely to have a vegan cafe in Taunton - the two ladies who run it are warm and chatty and serve bloody lovely food! I’m yet to try a cake but I have had a pasta dish and it was utterly amazing - as a vegan I really struggle to find healthy, tasty options when eating out and it was absolutely great to have something nutritious and delicious (as well as homemade!) available. The prices are reasonable and given the quality of the food you don’t mind paying them at all. I was served a lovely coffee by them recently and I love that all their takeaway products are fully compostable. Please doing what you’re doing - it’s wonderful to have a conscientious cafe that serves such fabulous products in Taunton!

This was my second visit as i wanted to try the planet burger which has such good reviews on this site. Both my partner and I were very impressed (and I hasten to add, neither of us are vegans). The burger was delicious. Really tasty and came with a mixture of equally tasty salads. The chocolate and hazelnut cake was also delicious. Worth a trip to Taunton.

I eat here regularly. The manager is lovely and a great cook. She is more than happy to share her recipes to share the vegan experience. The food is always really tasty and fairly priced and the cakes are amazing. It is nice ti have a family business in Taunton and not the normal chain coupled with much higher quality ingredients.

As a 'Vegan Newbie' I have spent the last couple of months trying many different establishments. To date The Planet has served the best Vegan food I have tasted.

As a vegan I can't fault them for their good message. On our visit Saturday the cakes we had were nice but a little dry.

The Planet has some really great options if you're looking for a healthy alternative, or if your diet isn't dead animals.

Beautiful little spot. Lovely menu, lovely people, delicious food and good music in the background. Last trip we got the planet burger, the earth burger and a slice of lemon and blueberry cake, which we tried (and failed) to save until after our burgers. Burgers come with lovely salad selection. Best place to lunch in Taunton.

Food was really nice. As we had our dog we sat outside - which was OK. The earth burger was really good so would recommend that!

We have eaten here many times and the food and service has always been very good. My vegan daughter loves and the rest of us veggies love the food too. Tasty, healthy and filling.

I needed a vegan birthday cake and didn't know where to get one. I phoned the Planet and was able to pick one up that day. They were so helpful and the cake tasted great.

I visited with friends this morning as we fancied a change from the chain coffee shops and the promise of a vegan cake was enough to sway it for me! I'm not vegan, but am lactose intolerant so can't usually have cakes or pastries with coffee. What a treat this place was - not only could I have a cake, but I had a choice! The chocolate almond cake was delicious. And a choice of milks for my latte as well...

Have eaten here a couple of times and cannot rate the food enough. All natural, nothing processed and the menu seems to change regularly so you can try different things. Price is very reasonable. Would highly recommend

Everything tasted better than they looked! This is the second time I have been to a vegan cafe where the food hasn’t looked great but has tasted amazing. I started my meal by taking a bite out of everything. The spicy chickpea burger, as I expected, was not in the slightest bit spicy for my West African taste buds. It was served in a wholewheat bun with lettuce and tomatoes. Nothing fancy, yet it tasted so good! The salads each had their own unique flavours. However, they all seemed to work together, much to my surprise.

We stopped at The Planet Cafe for lunch and were not disappointed. The cafe was clean, the staff very friendly and helpful and the food was tasty and filling.

Excellent vegan food made with real commitment and very reasonably priced. The menu is 100% vegan, homemade to a high standard. The cake is moist and succulent, melt-in-the-mouth stuff - when normally vegan baking can be overly dry and uninspiring. I had the Planet Burger with homemade vegan 'cheese' - not only a great flavoursome burger but also a generous portion of chickpea salad to accompany it.

Lovely little place, amazing vegan chocolate cake. Fab coffee too! Didn't go much on the main meal, burgers were fine - small but filling, but the raw broccoli and minty quinoa?? Not for me, made it a bit pricey for £8. Will visit again but just for coffee and cake!

I ate here recently with my two children and had such a delicious meal! We tried the macaroni non-cheese and the chickpea burger, both of which were really tasty. They came with a generous serving of various salad/side items as well. We also tried some of the cakes which were equally as good. I'd highly recommend this restaurant for delicious and healthy food.

After discovering the Planet cafe near Taunton library I always make a bee line for cake and coffee here. Occasionally get tempted by the varied menu. Planet burger is delicious. All vegan.

The Planet, in Taunton, is a friendly place serving delicious vegan food. There is always a good selection of dishes available. I particularly enjoy their spicy stews and burgers and to follow there is an amazing selection of truly awesome cakes. I have been vegan for over 30 years and I can honestly say that this place serves the most delicious cakes ever! The range and variety is excellent. Can't recommend them enough.

Taunton and Wellington have a distinct lack of vegetarian and vegan cafe's/restaurants so when we heard The Planet had opened we were very happy.

My sister and I visited on Saturday lunchtime. It was very busy with friendly, helpful staff and very welcoming. A chalkboard of hot food choices, along with 3 different non-dairy milk for tea/coffee/chocolate drinks. Great array of cupcakes and large cakes. I had Planet Burger with salads and my sister had Cauliflower Fritters and salads. We both had cakes which were amazingly moist. The whole meal was very tasty and nicely presented. I was intrigued by the wide variety of salads available - a large spoon of about 5/6 different salads on the plate - such a nice idea. Mains came in at around £6 each and cakes £2. Only drawback was that it was quite chilly - but the day was very cold and wet. Good value and we will definitely be back.

Good choice of food - including cakes - beautifully prepared and presented. I will be back for more! So good to have a local veggie/vegan place in Taunton. I really recommend it for taste and value. Also, timely service - important for lunch hour.

I have had a dozen meals here. It is ecologically friendly as are the managers/ owners. It's not open on Sundays/ Mondays. The opening hours vary. It closes around 5 in the evening. There are some classes in the evening in vegan bread making. The consumers tend to be environmentally involved.

Great welcoming staff, yummy food really enjoyed the sunflower pasta and have returned 3 times and had the chille which was really yummy. The cakes are AMAZING!! better then any non vegan cakes I have had. great drinks options and not too pricey. Returning this week would highly recommend this cafe.

I have eaten here with my daughter twice. The first time we were fairly impressed. We had cauliflower fritters (delicious) with a couple of different salads of our choice, one of which was made with very finely chopped vegetables which also included cauliflower. It tasted quite different to the fritters and complemented them well! We did feel on that occasion though that the decor was a tad cheerless and the floor was pretty grubby. We were less impressed by our second visit. We both chose to have the planet burgers which came in a bun with vegetarian cheese and mayo and was accompanied by salad. The burgers themselves were very tasty but we didn't rate the cheese and felt that there was too much mayo and in fact, too much bun! Half of one would have been enough. The thing we liked the least by far was the fact that it was a cold, wet, miserable day and it was no warmer in the cafe. Not warm enough to remove our coats! There was a radiator in there but wasn't on, and this added to the still cheerless decor, didn't make for a particularly enjoyable experience. The floor, once again, looked like it needed a darn good wash! We may try The Planet again but would definitely wait for the warmer weather!

You don't have to be a vegan to eat here, service, atmosphere, food, price.. all are very good! The only problem is that they tend to run out of the most popular menu items quite quickly. Highly recommended

The Planet offer an ever-changing menu of fantastic home made food served to you by lovely people in a welcoming space. Free wi-fi is a bonus.

Did not disappoint, Sensible short menu, everything fresh. It was very tasty and well worth another visit. Vegan food in Taunton who would have thought this could happen. Well worth visiting and supporting, even for meat eaters like me who shy away from dairy.

Popped in for lunch with my partner and daughter we all ordered different meals and we were all delighted with the food, Cauliflower fritters, Stew and a Burger - all delicious and quick service too.

I had the Planet burger which was absolutely delicious. The chai and coffee were great. The vegan cakes looked incredible, I can't wait to go back. A friendly family run business, long may it last.

There isn't a great selection of vegan food locally so this is a welcome addition to Taunton. Lunch today didn't disappoint - the earth burger was delicious and came with a generous helping of assorted salads which were very tasty and colourful. Next time I will sample the cakes as they all looked very good. Will definitely be back again soon!

I have been here a few times for the delicious vegan cupcakes to take away, but also had much here for my birthday with a friend.

Finally - quality vegetarian and vegan food in Taunton!! Service was good and food was very good ! My two sons enjoyed the chilli and the tofu rice was excellent! Choice of two salads with every main meal and the cake was tummy according to my two ! Would say that the interior could be a bit better - painted bare walls need livening up perhaps..

We popped in with six hungry adults and two toddlers, and despite our late arrival arriving everything came very quickly and was absolutely delicious. They even made some sold out dishes anew just for us. The owners and staff were very friendly and the menu and food was brilliant.

I went into town early Saturday and thought great I see if planets open as I was hungry, I love visiting vegan restaurants and love to put pictures on my instagram of my cooking and cafés I visit .so I turned up just before 9.30 No times on the door, so I went round the corner to check on my phone for opening hours , it states 9.30 but I waited till 9.35 , the door was unlocked and the woman was at the counter, oh she said:; I haven't even turned the lights on ; I am so sorry I said as I apologise a lot :) I come for a vegan breakfast : ) we don't do vegan breakfasts here (the audacity asking for breakfast ) ok I said ? there was no I can offer you this or that ? well how dare I ? that's how it felt. So I went home and did mushrooms onions fried and added some chilli beans in a wrap spread with hummus ( which i posted instead)My point is they are missing a trick not doing breakies

When I heard that there was a new cafe opening in Taunton, we went to check it out. I went with 2 friends; none of us are vegan but we thought we'd try it. We all loved it and have gone multiple times since. Great cafe for vegans and non-vegans.

Some vegan cafes seem a bit...well i went to one once that didn't serve tea or coffee! (Don't call it a cafe then!).... this place is nothing of the sort!. Very simple and not trying to be anything other than a pleasant place to eat. Food was a good price and tasted amazing. They offer pretty much every type of non dairy milk for teas and coffees. I wish i could find an excuse to drop by now often.

Great burgers and salad. Amazing coconut latte, and delicious chocolate cake, All 100% vegan and served with a smile. Great place for lunch and just by the library.

I think it's misleading to say that The Planet is "not just for vegans". My wife prefers vegetarian food; I don't. She really enjoyed the visit. I didn't. It is a vegetarian café after all. If you are not a vegan, the menu is not for you. I had quiche and found it very bland (indeed). But I wish the café every success; Taunton needs variety and The Planet are offering a strong vegetarian option. For instance you won't get cow's milk with your coffee. Fine - enjoy the change. But be aware that vegan means vegan. This is a café with convictions.

So impressed with the range, flavours and colours of the food; I'm not vegan, just curious, and I really enjoyed it. I'll definitely be back for another plant-based lunch at a very reasonable price, with super service.

We were recommended to give The Planet a try. We popped in and found the place to be surprisingly quiet, but they haven't been open for long. The cafe provides a vegan menu, which changes on a regular basis. The menu is a little limited but of the meals that we tried there was no lacking in flavour. I had the Earth burger whilst my wife tried the Planet burger, we were able to choose two salad sides with each meal. The tastes were absolutely fantastic, and they were exceptionally filling. Given that I am a devout carnivore I was more than happy. We also took away a couple samples of cake, which didn't let us down (us = me) the taste was fantastic. Would definitely go again, looking forward to trying the chilli and my wife wants to try the nachos.

What a great surprise to discover "The Planet", a new 100% plant based cosy little cafe conveniently positioned opposite Taunton's central library, W.C's and parking.

I've started regularly eating at The Planet now, and it's been a culinary journey of discovery for me. Not only is the food that I've tried delicious, it has inspired me cut out meat from my diet, and now I'm thinking about going totally vegan. I didn't realise vegan food could be so tasty. I've tried the mushroom and spinach slice, and other tasty bakes and pastry, as well as the pasta and salad dishes, and Annelise's yummy cakes!

Tried The Planet out for the first time today and we'll be back again! Friendly welcome, great prices and good size portions too. I had the planet burger with salads and my boyfriend had the nachos- the cheese tasted amazing! He loved the meal, even as a meat eater :) Lovely weather so we sat outside too. Definitely worth a visit.

As soon as I found out about this cafe I knew I'd have to try it on my next visit to the town. They've filled a gap that has been in Taunton for a surprisingly long time and I'm pleased that they seem to be doing a very good job of it.

This is a pleasant place to have lunch, with light and airy surroundings and right in the middle of town. It’s vegan but they seem happy enough to feed people who aren’t of a similar thinking. We aren’t even vegetarian. They have a changing menu which features just a few dishes and salads on the side are included in the price of your meal. All the food is delicious and we’ve been eating there once a week for about a month. I’m perfectly happy with it and the prices are reasonable too.

First visit to Taunton and had found this place on trip advisor. Had excellent lunch, a spicy stew with choice of salads. Would have loved to try the cake but no room!!!! Very friendly service. Would recommend to all vegans.

lovely cappuccino with advice and info about which milk would be best .....we have found that some don't make good coffees and cappuccinos , so interested to find out more information.

Wonderful 100% plant based food and drinks, all made by a very friendly and talented chef and served by 2 warm and welcoming waiters. Small menu but is constantly being switched up so every visit you can find something different from last time. Seriously recommend the sweet potato and peanut stew, the planet burger, and the spinach and "feta" slice. The chocolate cake is also absolutely amazing. Introduced most of my friends and family to it already and even though they aren't began they all thoroughly enjoyed it. 10/10

So good to have somewhere that I can go with my vegetarian husband where he has 100% choice. We only had 30 minutes to spare so both chose the Planet Burger and a lemonade (husband chose elderflower and I had rhubarb). Drinks were served nicely chilled and were absolutely awesome and at only £1 each really good value. Burgers were cooked from fresh and served promptly and were delicious, husband said it was the best burger he has ever had and he has had a fair few over the years. Again at £4 the burgers were really good value, not at all over priced, which you can find in some speciality cafes. Friendly staff and a comfy environment made this a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend a Saturday lunch time. We will definitely be back as I love the sound of the Spicy Sweet Potato and Peanut Stew but felt I needed more time to really savour it.

This cafe is amazing. The staff were friendly and despite the fact that it was a very busy time of day I got served really quickly (7-8 mins). I ordered the Planet burger which came with a side salad. The food was well presented on the plate. The burger was great, the best I have ever had, but I also enjoyed the side salad. So often in other restaurants side salads are boring and are just there to fill up the plate. However this side salad had a diverse range of flavours that complemented each other well. For a drink I had a hot chocolate. They offered me three choices of vegan milk, (soya, coconut or almond). I commented that I usually prefer oat drink which they were able to provide instead. The other good thing about this cafe was the price. I live on a low wage and found the meal was easily affordable for me. I simply could not believe that I got a meal of that quality for that price. I am very happy with this cafe and will definitely come again. I only wish I could learn to cook as well their chef.
