Best fish and chips in the area. Honestly. If the the restaurants would hold the standards do.. Portions are decent. Those on the pics are medium. Well fed me. We took fish X 2 and large chips. Enough. Last time I've visited was 2010. Not much has changed- still good solid fish and chips. Highly recommend. Chips look soggy on a pic but trust me they're fine. Average meal with chips is 11..12,5 (2024.07)

order weekly never normally a problem but was over an hour and half and cold and soggy and no chilli sauce on my kebab

It would be a great help if the delivery drivers could count. i.e. tell the difference between 45 and 47 as they seem to WANT TO DELIVER TO THE HOUSE NEXT DOOR EVERY TIME EVEN WHEN WE ARE STANDING AT THE DOOR WHEN THEY PULL UP.

Ordered directly over the phone. Gentleman confirmed my order, gave me a number, told me a time it would be ready for collection and also confirmed the amount. On arrival, greeted with a smile, I gave my order number, again my order was confirmed then I was asked cash or card. In less than 5 minutes. I was walking out the door with my order. The size of the medium cod was what many places would say extra large! The chips were totally non greasy. Paper they were wrapped in was clean. Food was hot and very tasty.

The food was left outside of the house!!!! Discovered totally cold and ruined!!!

Food was cold when I got it. I ordered chips and curry sauce and its was cold and sloppy, not one good chip, the sausage was crunch and not even even cooked properly! Wouldn’t recommend this place!!!

Reasonable priced but the chips weren't that good

I was not too impressed with the order that I had from this chip shop. The cost being the major factor of my low review. I understand that right now in the UK, prices have gone up and therefore cost of takeaways need to go up aswell in order to make some money from their sales. But, the cost of £33.50 for a large portion of chips, 2 bits of fish, and 1 battered sausage in my opinion is simply too expensive. Which also worsened my experience, was for a large portion (which states for 3 people), it could probably do only about 2 people if that. I will say however, the staff were very friendly, and the food itself was actually pretty good. The chips were well cooked, as was the fish. Regardless of the good points mentioned, I do not currently recommend this fish and chip shop due to the cost and portion sizes. If they were to increase the portion size, and reduce the cost (even by a slight amount), my review would change.

Got my order wrong. Too busy ogling my 15yo daughter. The food is good when u get what you order, but I prefer my dinner isn’t served by someone who can’t take his eyes off underage girls. *** Just as an update to this, everyone we told about your place has now been updated. I appreciate you come from a different culture where women are not as respected as they are here, and perhaps you’re not used to the way women dress freely here. But I suggest you watch your body language and sideways glances and huffing and puffing trying to fight off whatever you’re experiencing. THIS IS ENGLAND. Watch your manners!

best fish and chips take away i had at fareham. the staff are very friendly and very nice people and they are very polite towards me and the customers i had around me. would definitely come back again and will definitely recommend it to each one of you that wants a fancy fish and chips.

Not an enjoyable meal. Standard fish more like a small fish. Seen similar comments about the fish sizes. Batter heavy and greasy. Not worth the money. Will not return.

Popped by today and had a battered sausage. Got to have been the best I have had. The batter was really good. And cooked to perfection. Will be coming back. Yours sincerely Steve

Had awful food from here. Will not be returning. Fish was poor quality and tasted off and the chips were stale.

Nice chippy and helpful staff. Some negatives though hence the 3 stars: - cash only - food can be bad sometimes, not sure if it's the cook/time of day or something - it's so busy and there's no parking outside. The delivery drivers take all the spaces

I would normally say a1 foods usually good was using this as my family chippy but went in today service was apauling chips were terrible comparing to normal they have more interest in there mobile phones I was very hungry sadly it went in the bin what a waste of 20 quid guess il be trying the other one in Lee

Usually good. Friendly staff and quick service. First few times the food was great but last couple times have been a bit disappointing. They always ask twice if we want salt and vinegar and we always say yes but then can’t taste it at all. Chips are little under done last time too. Burgers and battered sausages have been lovely every time though!

I contacted 'The Plaice' in Fareham Park Rd, Fareham, to arrange for 25 meals to be prepared & delivered It was delivered on time & the food was excellent. The feedback from members was 100%positive. What more can you wish for. So thanks to the team doing the cooking & delivery.

Just had a great meal from The Plaice - trouble is, It wasn’t what I wanted - I ordered Haddock and ate cod and my friend said her cod was just like haddock - really wish they would just put an initial on the delivery box! Apart from that - great

Great fish beautifully cooked. Love the chips. Good ordering system. August 2022 Shop still cooks great fish and chips BUT due to heavy demand and use by collection/delivery services, ordinary customers have to wait much longer for their orders to be fulfilled.

Average, feel it is overrated, kebab/chippy. Cod was ok, batter was good.Definitely not the worst around here though. Paid £4.50 for a (3 person chips) but say it was a two person portion. Also cash only, somehow. Been here plenty of times before but remember it being better.

ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING! Asked for a donner meat and chips! It appalling! They chucked everything together and did not listen to what I wanted salad and sauce I wanted. Threw chilli sauce all over it so could not eat it! Also the guy who served us was rude and so blunt! DEFO WONT BE GOING THERE AGAIN!!

The plaice is the one an only place in Fareham where you can get a delicious lamb doner kebab. I've searched everywhere to find a kebab that would rival my home town kebab shop. I've finally found it. Lamb doner kebabs and other things that I've ordered here always taste delicious. Wouldn't go anywhere else now. Just make pitta breads bigger. Then you would be perfect

The best plaice in the area for an extensive menu, not just fish and chips. The Kebabs and Shish are super tasty. Parking can be an issue when busy but try to get a space. It will be worth the trouble.

A spur of the moment decision to have a Fish Supper! Fish and Chips in Fareham has really been a struggle for some time but we took a ‘punt’ on the Google review and we’re so glad we did. Courteous young guys in the till and busy vibe around the fryers, the result, beautiful fresh fish, plump and perfect chips, matched with a glass of wine in the garden, created the best Fish & Chips for some time!

Trying to order on deliveroo and they don't have a very popular dish of doner meat and chips. Very disappointed. They've lost 2 customers because of this.

Quick and efficient covid safe service, food was excellent and very generous; only point to note is you understandably need to wait outside, so if it's raining make sure to take your brolly with you. Would definitely recommend!

Good to know this local chippy is still thriving. Phone orders are ready in 10 mins and avoid the queues and tight parking. Pay at the counter and the bag is yours. Varied menu and cheap prices. What's not to like?

Excellent fish, tasty chips and spectacular chicken stripes. Yum. Great service too buy the guys working. They were clearly busy and popular with all the home delivery orders they had coming and going.

Had kebabs which were good but very little salad which was disappointing and when asked for more got told that was all we could have and was said abruptly not very happy with them will go elsewhere in future

I read the reviews and thought I'd try it, fully expecting to be disappointed, I didn't know what to have so went for a large cod, chips, a mixed kebab, chunks of chicken and lamb Donner.... Best thing I ever did! The chicken was amazingly tender and tasty, best ever, I used to think that all lamb Donner tasted the same, apparently not! Absolutely gorgeous, I've saved the best till last, the fish, this from someone that used to drive from Fareham to Weymouth for his favourite fish until the shop changed hands, the Plaice beat it hands down, the best I've ever eaten. Brilliant and I can't wait to go back.
