No chips. Large cod was a medium any day. No phone number to call to say there had been a mistake. Shambles.

Best value and best tasting fish and chip shop between j9 and j10 by a long way. Portion sizes are still where others used to be before they started skimping, and quality hasn't dropped. Staff well trained, friendly, and efficient and even when it's the chaos of the world cup final night, they were all over it.

Brilliant place with own parking, great quality food and you can choose without batter if you prefer. Take out or eat in their clean spacious cafe. Good value and quality, haddock chips and cuppa under a tenner 😀👍

Deliveroo order - prompt service, quick delivery, lovely food, not overly greasy, nice crispy chips! Very large portions. A little expensive however I think it is worth it. Would order again if we were local.

we have just picked up 2 x fish and chips at 5.30 today. my wife left hers and i struggled with mine. the chips were clearly refried from earlier opening and were hard and inedable

Super fresh Haddock which was very tasty. The batter was light. The chips were cooked to perfection. We ordered small chips but the portion size beat us both. Friendly and efficient staff. We went at 7pm thinking it would be quiet but there was a steady stream of customers. There is a click and collect service and Just Eat delivery service. Strongly recommend

Have used Bouys fish restaurant for many years know but last night I ordered 6 fish cakes 2 large chips, never had a bad meal but this was the tasty meal we have had there simple meal but delicious 😋 they were very busy on the night but staff so good we had a small wait but well worth it 👌

Just been to get 2 small cod and asked for enough chips for 2 ! Got 2 medium cod and 2 large portions of chips which we dumped most of it and got charged for ! Paid a pound each for pickled onions and got charged for the PAPER bag (not a carrier bag) ! Staff also not very pleasant won't be returning

Just had Haddock and chips for the first time in ages, oh my god, bloody delicious...Perfect! Just what we needed and cooked to perfection, thank you so much...highly recommended....crispy fish and chips were spot on too!

Went in to collect order, was completely ignored by staff behind the counter. Managed to get my food, got it home 2 batterd sausages were missing and everything was cold, the cod roe was burnt and the chips i wouldnt feed to the seagulls. An absolute waste of money. Tried to contact them bus as yet no answer. Update - Thankyou for your reply. You have now replied to my wife through email. This is not a perfect communication system but It is something. I look forward to your reply to her as she has sent you a photo of the cod roe. The food was sat on top of the hot counter which only seams to heat from underneath. we collected the food at 1705. I served the chips as soon as u got home and they were already cold.

Can 2 small fish and chips with 1 mushy peas really cost £23? Does cheesy chips with bacon really sound like mushy peas chips and bacon? And why charge for an extra portion of mushy peas and chips and not provide them? Very unhappy with the service. Couldn't eat mushy peas chips and bacon as can't stand mushy peas and didn't have the extra chips to eat but apparently the fish and chips tasted nice for those who didn't have to go hungry.

Went tonight 3/4/24 ordered 6 fish cakes large chips and 2 children's meals which includes chips, when they called out order I had to check if large chips were in bag didn't get a reply when we got home either the children's chips were missing or the large chips have shrunk or were missing, not pleased. We have used Bouys for many years so I know they portions are larger than what I received

Easter Saturday,just after 6pm and clearly the shop was struggling to cope. So very disappointed with the fish and chips, an expensive treat. Collected order on time.The chips were soggy and pale,stuck together in a clump and not hot, very greasy, not at all crisp and just really awful tasting, like eating mushy warm oil. Fish was obviously packed and kept for ages on the ' warm ' plate as the fish wasn't hot, batter was overcooked. Won't be going back.

My go to fish and chip shop always great quality food is delicious and reasonably priced. It's best to click and collect reduces wait time.

Visited here for a casual order of fish and chips, 3x haddock and 2x large portions of chips on the recommendation of my sister. Good sized pieces of fish and just one large portion of chips was sufficient to feed three of us. Very freshly cooked, we collected and the eating was superb. Visited again in Apr 23 for 3x scampi and chips, then again Feb 24. I can highly recommend this place👍

Order fish and chips online, 30/40 minutes later, sat in the seating area, enjoying a delicious meal, presented on a nice square plate, chips in a mini frying basket, very nice!

Been waiting for more than half an hour. Then when the order came ….wrong order… small chips instead of large . The fish was really small for a large cod. And all this cost me £20… Then not even bring tissues to the table.

Brilliant food nice people never had a bad meal, went there last Tuesday 19/12/23 asked if I wanted a bag for my order said yes and was charged 20p never been charged before and it is the same paper bag as always used.

Used them a far amount over the years years now. Just look them up online and use the website to order your food. It's very easy to use. Just pick up your order at your alotted time slot at the collection counter. You can order inside but easier to order online.

Brilliant. I had a box deal for under £10. Cod bites - fresh, crispy and flakey fish inside. Chips - hot, no soggy chips here, proper tasty thick and with a bit of crunch. Mushy peas - very tasty, again hot. Ability to order online for collection, but I just popped in. Ideal if you’re in the premier inn next door!!

Ordered off deliveroo 1 items of my daughters chips missing so she only had nuggets. Tried to phone the shop no one picking up tried near on 35 minutes to speak to someone just sent to answerphone .If you have any issues with your delivery cannot contact anyone in the shop as no one picks up the phone .very disappointed with the service .Will be ordering elsewhere from now on !

We order from here on a regular (weekly) basis and it used to be brilliant but recently it has gone downhill, everything is either soggy or overcooked. We used to chose this over others despite it being more expensive because it was worth it. Now I'm not sure it is.

Freshly cooked to order, absolutely delicious, the best fish and chips in years. Great staff and super clean facilities, perfect place for lunch if you want to dine in or takeaway, lots of space for parking too. Busy venue but never rushed. Cooked and presented to perfection 10 out of 10 👍

Bouys is constantly changing, keeping up with the developing world. Covid didn't keep them down. A friendly large chippy with seating should you want it. An easy online ordering platform for collection, or turn up and order as normal, a wide selection of food and a good choice of vegetarian foot. Only downside is that it is cooked with the meat. But this is made clear on the board inside. They are a bit far out but I'm happy to travel for better service.

As the nearby Premier Inn has no restaurant we used this excellent place instead, as I'm not a fan of TGI Friday which shares the hotel site.

This was our second visit as we had been for lunch and really enjoyed it. However, our second visit at around 7.30 this evening was terrible. We ordered three cod and chips. The chips were all little tiny bits and fragments and the fish was thin and dried with loads of batter. We won't return. Such a shame after our initial visit. £42 wasted.

First time visiting here and what a great place. Friendly and helpful staff and lovely, very hot food. Just how I like it. Parking available. Will be returning for sure. The chips were delicious. Crisp and golden and not greasy. Edit...well I'm not sure what happened tonight . We returned with a friend as we enjoyed it last time....what a disappointment. Over cooked thin pieces of fish. The chips were more like scraps from the fryer. Such a shame. Won't be back. Waste of £43.

My grandson is autistic and he felt totally relaxed, very clean and the chips were delicious.

Staying at the hotel next door overlooking the chip shop so the smell wafted and I couldn’t resist. Was worried I wouldn’t be able to pay card/ get a receipt to claim back but didn’t need to worry. Ordered inside using a screen similar to what McDonald’s have. Card payment and receipt not an issue. Waited maybe 5 mins on a chair in a lovely little sitting area with 6 ice slushy machine and a coffee machine available. Food bought out by a lovely smiley lady. Walked back the 2 mins to and another 2 minutes through the disgusting hotel next door. Back to my room and the food was piping hot!could not believe the size of the fish! Probably the length of my forearm. Beautifully crispy batter, gorgeous chips, curry sauce 2 die for!! In a nice little box with a wooden fork. I couldn’t eat all of it I left just under half. So happy I found this place at the end of a rubbish week staying away from home for work! Really cheered me up! Thanks so much guys!

So disappointed. Have been coming here for years. But the standard just keeps going down and down. Chip bap was a cheap bun with 5 chips in it. Rip off. Asked for salt and vinegar on chips. Nothing on them. Tasted bland. Also, the family size chips have been removed for some time, which gives me the impression they are trying to squeeze as much money from us as possible. I understand business is business, but no excuse for ripping off customers with such small portions and bad quality. Unfortunately, this is the last time me and my family will be using Buoys again. ****UPDATE IN RESPONSE TO OWNER. I remember buying family size chips a few times at Buoys. I even asked the girl behind the counter how many scoops of chips is that. The answer was 3 and a half. I am telling you - the brioche bun my daughter was served was flimsy and felt cheap. A fresh crusty roll would be a better option. You have avoided the fact it only came with 5 chips at 3.50p. This is robbery. Looking at some of your other reviews this has come up before, but again, you take no responsibility or care enough to rectify the issue. You also avoid answering to the fact our chips had no salt and vinegar and tasted bland, despite the fact the ticket stated we asked for salt and vinegar on it. What has happened to this place? Not only is the food smaller and tasteless but the management has no customer service training.

Sad days. Will be taking my business elsewhere now, as I was asked if I could pay by card, when I said why the assistant told me they were trying to go cashless. I do not support any business that goes cashless. Thankfully there are many chippys that still take cash 💰

We have had Fish & Chips from here on several occasions. On My Birthday 09/12/2022 We picked up our "Meal" At 6.00pm. We ordered a meal for Four of us. Costing £43.50 In My 76 years this ranked up as one of the most Dire /Rank excuses for Fish & Chips ! The Chips were Large Limp devoid of any colour --Or Taste apart from Oily Fat ! Cheesy Chips!! Never in all my life have I seen such a glutinous Mess Poured over lumps of barely cooked potatoes.. That so called cheese was repulsive! The "Haddock" ? Was So Thin with what little meat was hard & dry the only taste being.....Oily Soggy Batter Yuck ! The White Bait cooked in Batter & copious amounts of oil was totally inedible ! The only items edible were the Fishcake & Jumbo Sausage. A reply from "The Management" at "Buoys Plaice" would be of interest !!

Me and my family often use this chippy as it has THE best chips in town! Portions are perfect and the box meals are a hit with my children. The staff are so friendly and professional and the prices are responsible too. They also offer slushies and sweets and it’s so clean and you can always park right outside. 😋😁👍🏻

Went lunchtime today and ordered 2 x pensioners cod & chips and 2 x standard cod & chips. Impressed with the quality and quantity. Shop was spotless and staff friendly.

I visited here on Saturday September 24th. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is impeccably clean. The fish and chips are some of the tastiest I've ever eaten. And a special bonus, a discounted price for OAPs. I will not hesitate to visit again.

What is the point of providing a facility to order ahead, where you allocate a time slot, when you don't even start preparing the order until the customer arrives? A colleague kindly ordered lunch for the office and asked me to collect it. As the food was pre-ordered and a timeslot given this was not an issue. Upon arrival it took a fair while standing at the "Click and Collect" counter before I was even spoken to. I was assured my order would be done next, but I watched 4 people's orders get made up before my receipt was even looked at. What should have been a straight in and out collection ended up taking 27 minutes, even working towards the back end of the collection slot this was 17 minutes later than scheduled. To say this was a disappointing level of service would be generous!

Ate in at this establishment before COVID took over. This time food was just as good but found it a bit disconcerting to have it served up in the poly cartons used for take aways. This slightly spoilt my enjoyment of the meal.

Lovely little chippy we found just before leaving Portsmouth. Got there a little late so no indoor dining but we were allowed to eat on the tables outside. The fish and chips were really good as well as the battered sausage! Definitely wouldn't mind going here again !

Just ordered chicken strips, chips and a slushie, apparently the chicken was quite nice but the chips were awful and almost inedible, infact we threw most of them away. The chips were really really dry and tasteless even with loads of salt and vinegar and were very scrappy. To me they tasted like really bad cheap oven chips. The slushie machine obviously wasn't working properly either and was very watery by the time we got outside, at 2.50 a pop it's not really good enough. Quite disappointed to be honest.

The wait was a bit much, 40 minutes with only 5 orders but the staff were friendly and the food was nice once served, maybe just a bad day for the cook.

Sadly not a great experience a rubbery burger which was over cooked and what looks like to be hair on our chips! Second time I’ve had a bad burger! And after 30 min wait I won’t be returning

We have used this chip shop lots over last 2 years, but never again! I waited to have my order taken on Saturday, then waited for my order whilst Deliveroo and the like were in and out one after the other. I ended up waiting for 40 minutes in for pie & chips. So we won’t be back. It’s such a shame when deliveries take over from your traditional customers.

Good size portions of fish and chips

Really disappointed this evening as in the past food from here has been good. Fish was ok but the chips were just dry and tasteless as anything. If I had done a blind taste test I would have said they were yesterdays having been reheated. Comment from family, oven chips would have been nicer. Don't know whether it was a supply issue, a demand issue or what but it was sad as a large part of our £23 ended up in the bin.
