One of the best fish and chips around

Always a bit hit and miss depending on the day! Today the chips were dry and hard. I asked for salt and vinegar, but the chips were literally white with far too much salt. They were inedible unfortunately. I have raised this issue before with them but I guess it depends on who is working at that particular time. Shame.

Ordered meals on line today for collection at 1700. When I got home I found that the chips whilst hot were somewhat shrivelled and chewy. They did not seem to be freshly cooked. Was also surprised to find, after I had paid on line that I had to pay for the bag they came in. A paper bag from the chippy I ask you. If I had been offered the choice I would have taken my own bag. I don’t often use the Frying Fish and probably won’t in the future.

Very large small portion well cooked whilst you wait.

The first time I ordered a chicken burger and chips I was more than happy with my food, service was quite quick max 5 minutes of waiting time ... thank you

Thought I would try this chip shop, BIG MISTAKE, probably the worst chippy I have eaten from. CHIPS WERE LOOK WARM, BARELY EDIBLE, THREW MOST OF THEM OUT. PHONED THE SHOP, SERVER SAID THE CHIPS WERE JUST COOKED, THEN WENT ON TO SAY THEY WERE ONLY WARM BECAUSE THE SHOP WAS VERY QUIET. I TOLD HIM THE SHOP SHOULD NOT SELL SUCH POOR QUALITY PRODUCTS TO CUSTOMERS DID HE OFFER A REFUND, NO CHANCE

Nice food but very very expensive

Been using for 6yrs now. Always good fish and chips, use them regularly. Lots of other items available too. Staff friendly and good fun.

This is the first time I have been here and have to say we were very impressed and would highly recommend, we ordered and paid on-line and collected within 15mins, the fish was lovely and chips were fresh and crispy, the batter on the fish was lovely

We have been customers at The Frying Fish for some months now as this has been an amazing supplier of fantastic food. The staff are always exemplary but tonight there were two new ladies there that went above and beyond to make customers feel so happy and appreciated; these were Kirsty and Vicky - I hope that I have correct spelling of their names. As usual the food was amazing and the overall atmosphere was the best that I have experienced anywhere. Great work all staff, but especially Kirsty and N Vicky.

Just got click and collect and all chips are stuck to the paper or have paper stuck to them. Amateurs you don't put chips straight in paper

Have eaten from here several times now since moving to Warsash. Is quite pricy for a fish and chip shop compared to our old local one in Lee on the Solent. Has been good but the meal tonight wasn't great. We had 2 large fish and chip boxes. The fish was tiny and 90% batter with hardly any fish. Really disappointed when it cost nearly £30 for 2 meals. The volume of salt was also really bad. The chips were covered

Excellent customer service and wonderful cheesy chips and battered sausage. I highly recommend this chip shop if your following NCN2 or walking the coastal path.

Avoid.. expensive.. cold.. when ordering off uber and they mess your order up they say “its ubers problem not ours” missing a whole box meal Off a simple 5 meal order is a joke, chips cold soggy,, £60 order and half of it went in the bin !!

We've been going to the frying fish for quite a few years, and just recently the quality has got really poor, you can normally tell the popularity of a fish and chip shop by the queue outside and unfortunately this evening no one was waiting, we ordered 2 burgers which we normally have and both very poorly cooked the burgers looked awful and the salad was one piece of tomato and a small piece of lettuce and the mushrooms tasted disgusting which I ended up throwing in the bin, this place used to be so good but now time to find a new fish and chip shop

amelie was absolutlty wonderful!!! hope to be served by her again next time. she took the time to complete my complicated order due to being gluten and vegan and lactose and im allergic to nuts and fish so i felt very safe in the hands of amelie!

I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed the fish and chips. I ordered a small chips and a small fish which was cod with of course, curry sauce. The chips are cooked well and crispy and the fish was very tasty. I got served by a young man. He was very polite and help me with my menu. Overall, the fish and chip shop was clean and quick so I would recommend if you’re in the area.

And I thought London was expensive.

Friendly chip shop with good quality, tasty food and decent sized portions. Big fan of the salt and pepper squid, which makes a nice change from usual chip shop options. Very busy so have missed items from our order a few times, have rectified each time - customer service is excellent, but we make sure to double check our bag before leaving now.

Very disappointed. The first time we ordered from here the chicken was cook perfect lightly crisped on outside juicy and fell apart. The 2nd time it was fried to a crisp and so dried we both choked on the chicken. Went the other day explained to the young lady to please make sure it's not over cooked and fries fresh. I checked it in the shopthe chicken was really crispy and h mea inside was super dry. I explained to all 3 or 4 staff and asked if I could get fish in lace of Chicken she said no. I told her this not edible and unexceptable. We will not be returning there. I am curious to what the owners policy is on situations like this, surely that's not a successful way to run a business.

This is the best takeaway fish and chips shop in our area and our "go-to" place when we dont have the time to cook.

So I order the same when I visit a Fish & Chip Shop I order A Haddock & Chips with Curry Sauce & ive never been 100% satisfied with what I’m given untill I found this little place.. *The Fish was actually the whole Fish & was Massive- Cooked Perfectly.. *The Chips were Chunky Fresh & Crisp *The Curry Sauce was tasty & not Watery A 100% Fish & Chip Shop cooked how it is suppose to be with no Corners Cut.. They even wrapped it up like it should be & kindly put the curry Sauce in its own little bag.. The Staff were pleasant & the price was very competitive for the portion sizes.. Please Please don’t change anything as your doing an amazing job 6 Stars out of 5 Thank You..

Spend a few days in the Hamble , thought we would treat our self’s to fish & chips wow the BEST ever! Such big portions delicious !! Would recommend deserves a 5 + star rating!

My favourite fish & chips. Great portions and super tasty. This is not only our local but the best fish & chips. However on our last visit the portions were a bit smaller and too much batter/not enough fish. I do hope it was just one off negative experience as always the best and haven’t had fish & chips quite like this anywhere else.

We had a meal from here recently, my son had cheesy chips with beans and I had fish and chips. He could not eat his meal as the beans were over microwaved and dry, the chips were greasy and the cheese had not melted. My fish was chewy and overcooked and chips cold and greasy. Not very impressed

I changed over to this fish & chip shop during lockdown as they were the only one open. Haven’t gone back to my old ones since. Decent food and always hot.

The Frying Fish always produces good fish and chips. The batter is light, the chips of reasonable thickness and not too starchy. The food is normally cooked while you wait.

Always have great food, the chips are perfection. Fish is fresh and nicely done. The staff are great and feels very COVID safe.

Today was the second time I had come to this chippy and I have to say it's my new favourite. I used to go to the one in Holly Hill but I will now be coming here. The Chips are crispy and the staff are on point with a friendly approach. Can't wait to come again in the future and sample more of their menu. Highly recommended

Ordered a dinner for my family . It didnt turn up. Discusting customer service. We ended up with beans on toast . Cooked.at.home Couldnt get anyone on phone. Took.my money but.no food. Wouldnt recomend. So will.now.have to chase to.get.a.refund . Discusting

Used this fish and chip shop for many years, however, with our last order the chip portion was smaller, the fish was dry, burnt and all batter. What fish was there had to be scrapped off the batter. Obviously it had been sat keeping warm for quite a long time. We won't be going there again. Plenty more in the area.

Excellent fish and chips, very good quality food.

Ordered this evening via deliveroo, delivery time was great however the food not so much. The fish was over cooked and chewy, the batter burnt and really greasy. Only about half the chips were ok to eat and over all the meal was cold. The mushy peas and curry saucy tasted nice though, just a shame they were cold. Won't be ordering from here again.

We went Good Friday for fish and chips. I had large Cod and my husband had large Haddock small chips each. It was lovely but it was £18. something. Won't be going back at those prices.!!!!

God awful quality the few times I've eaten there, today attempted to order however refused in favour of online orders despite describing my inability to use their website at the time. This is the last time will ever go there, my advice is to head to Holly Hill Fish and Chips instead. Its better quality and they don't rely on a terrible online system.

Fish had more batter than fish very greasy, daughters jumbo sausage looked nice &tasty, chips not much potato, so I think were stick to Salisbury green chippy

As we know it's been really strange year in 2020 due to Covid, yet many companies like "The Frying Fish" have adapted well, and the staff are nice & friendly too! It's my go to place if I fancy fish & chips. I especially like their Haddock & Chips with a coffee to wash it all down, it's my favourites when taking a walk along the shore in Warsash, with plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view with lovely hot food sat on your lap. Thank you all at "The Frying Fish".

First time I've used this chippy, and I have to say I was impressed. The staff were friendly. The prices as fish and chip shops go, were fair. Also, the portion size for a large portion was actually 'large', not when you buy a large portion and it looks like it should be a small. My only thought would be just adding abit more salt and vinegar on a large portion. As in a good way, I had soo many chips I could hardly taste the salt or vinegar. Good work team, I'll be using you again.

Such a shame as this was a great fish & chip Shop when it first opened, but the standards have dropped dramatically. Ordered cod but there was a just about enough cod to fill a teaspoon! The rest was rock hard dried up batter, chips are good but that’s about it. This has happened quite a few times now, so I think we will go back to Sarisbury Green as they are consistently good there and have been for years. Shame as Warsash more local but I won’t be ripped off!

Twice I've ordered a Family size portion of chips, which the girls here say should feed 4-5, and haven't been able to split it between three of us... The latest of those I couldn't stretch between three kids. When I walked back to press my point, they offered nothing more than for me to buy more. Having spent over £30 already and the rest of our dinner going cold down the shore, I did so, but it was the last of my money I'd be spending there. Food is good, but the portions are very tight and the service could be much improved. For the sake a few extra chips, it leaves a bad taste. Big shame, but there are plenty of options in the area, who will be getting my custom from now on.

best fish& chips for miles around! good value, large portions & great staff, Cod is fabulous. Why not visit with the kiddies on a sunny day & have a fish&chip summer down by the shore or sat up on strawberry fields where you'll enjoy fabulous views

Excellent fish and chips good service, cooked to order

I ordered and paid online and booked a time for collection. Waited in car outside. Had a phone call to say it was ready. Collected from table in doorway. No contact at all. We've been isolating for 3 Months but this felt very safe. It was excellent meal and batter was delicious. Will definitely go again.

Best fish and chip shop in area. Good portions.

Tried the place because our normal place was shut. Place was clean and the staff friendly enough. Food was overcooked and slightly greasy and certainly not worth the cost.

Possibly my favourite chip shop. The chips are crunchy, yet fluffy, not too greasy. The cod is fantastic, again, crispy without being oily. I've yet to find a better chip shop in this or any other area.

Not a bad fish shop, there are others better close by.
